Congratulations yorkshire x

bunnygirl80 · 10/11/2010 05:51

Congratulations YTD Eleanor's such a pretty name Smile

cherry can you ask them to see you sooner - it doesn't seem fair to leave you worrying for two weeks. Hope it all turns out to be a fuss over nothing Smile

halo glad your second scan was all ok

MrsW hope you have some success getting DP to stop smoking

oneof8 glad you and DH are talking again

DH has decided that perhaps it would be a good idea if he stayed in the local area until LO is here, so he's not going to Brisbane after all. Luckily he saw sense before I had to beat it into him.

Went for my last pre-baby haircut this afternoon. It was v relaxing and I looked gorgeous for the 5 minutes between leaving the salon and the heavens opening!! Every time I go to the hairdressers it rains - thought I would be in luck today cos when I left the house to go there it was 28 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. I managed to leave just as it started thundering - was soaked to the skin by the time I got home, and all the washing I left on the line is wetter than it was when it came out of the machine.

On the plus side, attempting to waddle home as fast as is possible at nearly 39 weeks pg set off some painful Braxton Hicks, so maybe my drenching will at least encourage LO to make an appearance soon Smile

I'm slightly freaked out by seeing my name at the top of the list though!

Many congrats YTD Grin

I have my 12 week scan after work so will try and pop back this evening.

cherrycobbler · 10/11/2010 09:33

congratulations yorkshire!!!

Brill that the scan today was all good flo. You are now likely to have the world and his wife guessing the sex for you! (I am guilty of being one of those people who tries to guess based on the shape of the bump. I am wrong more than 50% of the time!)

Good luck with your scan today bella and HH.

Thanks girls for all your kind words about my little scare. I definitely am suffering from precious first baby syndrome - DH and I panicked and decided to go to the Fetal Medical Centre (I think Pixie had previously recommended ages ago) in London for a private re-do of the nuchal and blood test. Basically was wanted to talk to someone as soon as possible and not wait two weeks to see the consultant. It was £150 so not cheap but have to say it was the best £150 we've spent! They were great - re did the tests really thoroughly and talked us both through everything. Risks for the three chromosonal (sp?) disorders that the test is for are low. My hormone is still coming up as low, and that does have a link to later growth problems but the lady was just so reassuring and just said we would probably need further growth scans at 28 and 34 weeks to check all was on track, but that the chances are still that we will have healthy baby and not to worry. I feel a hundred times better - obviously nothing is guaranteed but otherwise would have spent the next two weeks fearing the worst (the midwife was lovely when she called me but put the fear of God into me).

oneof8 glad you came to a truce with DH! Hope the couples class went well.

hello fudge, how are you doing? am thinking of you lots.

crazy am about to PM you...

crazybutterflylady · 10/11/2010 10:47

WOOOHOOOOO Congratulations Yorkshire sorry to hear it was a tough one, but am glad the little cutie is all worth it :) I really like the name!

Glad to hear your scan went well flo and I agree with cherry everyone will be guessing and predicting. I have already been told I am definitely having a boy because I have downy hair on my tummy which is apparently from the extra testosterone Hmm I am reserving my judgement! It's funny I have always thought you either choose to know or not... I am not sure how I would take it if the baby was being modest... dammit.

cherry mahoosive hugs xxx

OneOf8 · 10/11/2010 12:07

Cherry That?s really positive news! Think you did the "right" thing in that 2 weeks of worry will have been terrible.

Its great they were able to tell you that much detail and give you information for later on.

Bellaby Hope the scan goes well later!

Crazyb I'm really pale and always have been, so you would have thought it'd be easy to tell if I had any extra hair - but due to being black haired on fair skin (think plain white paper with black pen lines) I'm still none the wiser!
I think this baby is still to come to a conclusion on its sex as one minute its a tidy boy shape, then it has a wiggle and its wide and a girl shape! Its giving no (constant) clues!!

I actually found the class really helpful. Its NHS run so did have reservations it may be a bit poor, but was pleasantly surprised! Was one lady that seemed to have swallowed a text book - but overall was grateful as the group is mixed. Being with her and another lady that seemed to know less than me (so was asking all the questions I wanted to but felt embarrassed!) really felt I got a lot from the first one.

OH said he found it good also, as felt more geared to a man's role than the books I have (did suggest it was because the books are aimed at ladies...Grin)

Would recommend at least giving it a go if you get the opportunity to do a couples one - however it wont be for everyone, as one couple did leave early.

Oh, also I was surfing the net working hard yesterday and saw the Mothercare are selling the Sit Me Up Cosy for £24, reduced from original selling price of £40.

Its just a glorified play mat that can be utilised to support baby sit up as they get older, but looks good and the blue headed one is quite gender neutral - they do a pink headed one also. We are going to have a proper look at them later but thought if anyone had thought of buying something like this, then may save you a couple of ££!

Hope everyone else is doing well today - half way through the week so cant be all bad!

highheelsandequations · 10/11/2010 16:21

Congratulations yorkshire.

Well apologies in advance for rambling, selfish post but feeling very anxious and :(

Went for scan this morning and they could not see anything. Looked and looked but nothing there. Except apparently I have one fallopian tube full of fluid (and no idea what that means). Have never had a tube full of fluid before and the frantic googling I've been doing this afternoon has not set my mind at rest. Nurse took my blood and I have to go back Friday for more blood to check my hcg levels are doubling, I think they're worried about an ectopic. Needless to say I've spent the day at work trying to hold back the tears, am worried sick and don't really know what to do. Thought they would have rung me with today's blood results by now but haven't heard anything yet. Trying to tell myself that it's just too early to see anything yet but I'm sure I'm 5+ and I thought that at this stage they should at least be able to see the sac and there was nothing there. Suppose it's just a case of playing the waiting game now, but it's so hard. After spending the last week and a half trying to stay positive and think happy thoughts I now feel like all those happy thoughts have been crushed under a big black cloud.

Sorry for :( post, hopefully one day soon I can share some good news.

luckyseven · 10/11/2010 17:12

oh highheels can t imagine what you are going through but am thinking about you. Hope time passes quickly til you get your results. Could you speak to your gp on the phone to get more of an idea of what is happening and ask any questions?

OneOf8 · 10/11/2010 17:22

Highheels - Will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Was this the specialists? Maybe give them a call in the morning. I would assume they would want to have both numbers from the bloods to compare otherwise stand alone they may not mean anything. Please dont take this as fact - do what you need to do, as can imagine what you are going through right now.

A few here (inc myself) have had/needed early scans and most been given dates which were different to the assumed date of conception. It could well be to early - I really hope this is the case and you get some good news.

Will be thinking of you for Friday xx

haloflo · 10/11/2010 17:31

highheels Sad Don't apologise, you have had an awful day.

I know you had irregular cycles and 5 weeks is very early (maybe you are less than 5 weeks? A day means so much this early on). I am sure it could still be too early to see something. Take it easy until Friday (maybe they need both days tests before they will contact you?) and please try and stay positive. I.E. stay away from google. Remember most pregnancies end well. Call in sick tomorrow if you need a break or go to work if you need the distraction. . Thinking of you.

cherry Am glad you took the matter into your own hands, reassurance is worth paying for. So pleased that you are low risk and that your low hormone isn't a big worry.

Yorkshire Congrats! Looking forward to the edited for the squeamish details.

Off to my mums now, I will do a proper post to all tomorrow.

cherrycobbler · 10/11/2010 18:01

highheels so sorry to hear it didn't go well. of course you're feeling awful, do look after yourself - don't feel guilty about taking some time off work if you just need some space. and stay off google! will be thinking of you as you wait - and have my fingers crossed too.

kurlyvoice · 10/11/2010 18:06

highheels, I had a scan when I was at least 5 weeks pregnant (and my revised dates imply that I was nearly 8 weeks, so 6 since conception!!) and the sonographer didn't see a baby. It wasn't a pregnancy scan as I didn't know about the baby then (got my 3+ weeks on the clearblue a week later) but all they saw was a 12mm "cyst" - which turns out to have been the baby. So all could still be absolutely fine with you. [hughughug] The waiting game is absolutely rubbish but the main thing is to, if you can, try to be positive and take time off if you need it.

Sorry for not being around for a while, girls, but I've been trying to catch up with school work in the week and rehearsing for a concert this Saturday at the weekends. All very interesting to deal with whilst pregnant! But I did get to hear the baby's heartbeat a week ago which was wonderful. So...

Congratulations to chance, worrisome and yorkshire - hope that you are enjoying the early days with your PFBs. Beautiful names as well!

Sorry that you had a bit of a scare, cherry - we really are going to be worrying for the next 30 18 years, aren't we?

Hope your scan went well today, bellaby! And I'm very pleased that your second scan was fine, even if the baby was being modest. We're going to try to hold out for a surprise but I think that it would help my not knowing if they couldn't see...

Congratulations on the twins, crazydayz - it is so very exciting but I can imagine also rather scary as well! I hope that you have a smooth pregnancy like one of my colleagues, who worked until the day before her caesarean and brought her little boys in about three weeks after they were born!

Has the sickness subsided yet, crazyb? I still feel sick in the morning but fine after breakfast, and I'm 17+3...

Hope it's not too much longer for you, bunny, and I'm very glad that your DH has seen sense and is not going to Brisbane! I'd have come and knocked some sense into him.

waves to everyone else, apologises for being a slattern, and hopes to keep in touch with everyone from now, on a very regular basis! [proffers Ben&Jerry's ice cream]

highheelsandequations · 10/11/2010 18:50

Thanks for all the kind thoughts and reassurances, I am trying to stay positive and think happy thoughts. Am also telling myself that as the digi tests have gone from 1-2 to 2-3 to 3+ that's a good sign that my hormones are doing what they should. It was the fertility clinic that I was at today and will be phoning them tomorrow to see when I will get results, I might just ask them if I should be concerned and then they can tell me if they've any worries. My cycles without drugs are very irregular so I suppose it's possible I'm less pregnanct than I thought! I suppose I could have been one of these people that manages to get a BFP very early? Also have GP appointment on Friday with a very good doctor that takes ages with every patient to go through everything so if I have some results by then I can ask him what he thinks.

Kurly fab news about hearing the heartbeat :)

Hoping to be joining the chat properly soon and catching up with all your news but can't focus just now.

crazybutterflylady · 11/11/2010 10:12

highheels listen to the words of all these wise women, stay off work and off google, put your feet up and read lots of crappy magazines. Try to take your mind off it completely (easier said than done I know!!).

I definitely would be spurred on by what kurly says, stay positive honey, massive hugs xxx

Bellaby · 11/11/2010 19:35

Evening All

highheels sorry to hear the scan didn't go well. I am keeping everything crossed for you. Definitely listen to everyone on here and take some time for yourself if you need it.

Bunny I'm so glad your DH saw sense about not going away for work. Very excited for you - not long to go now!

Cherry it's so good you were able to get the tests done privately - definitely money well spent

oneof8 glad you found the class useful. We've just signed up for one of the NCT ones in April. Will be checking out the Mothercare website but it still feels too early to be buying anything. I'm trying to hold out until the Jan sales Grin

kurly are you organizing the concert or performing? What flavour ice-cream are you offering. I like pfissh food one or whatever it is called.

I became an Auntie for the 5th time late last night. My sister in law had her third - born very quickly at home and weighing 10lb Shock - my new niece was 10 days overdue and I've heard that overdue babies grow a lot.

We had our scan yesterday which went really well. Baby is growing well and just the right size and was wriggling about like mad! Feel very relieved and much happier now about telling people.

Have a lovely evening all

bunnygirl80 · 12/11/2010 03:05

Sorry this is a me me me post but just logging in quickly to let you all know my birth story Grin

Baby William was born at 9:02pm on 11/11/10 weighing 3.2kg (7lb 1oz) after an 8 hour labour. Went to my 39 week obs appt feeling quite nauseous and crampy, but thought I'd eaten something dodgy. Realised while sat in the waiting room that cramps, while really not that bad were actually coming every 5 minutes and my bump was going hard when I got them. She examined me and I was 3 cm dilated with mega high BP, so we went straight to hospital. Got to hospital at 3pm, still barely feeling contractions, started to get a bit uncomfortable about 5pm so tried out the TENS machine, which did nothing for me. Got in the bath instead and stayed there for about 2 hours until the pain very suddenly intensified. Tried the gas and air, but it just made me feel really dizzy, so got out of the bath, and within about 5 minutes had the urge to push. 4 contractions later he was out Grin

So I did it pretty much with no pain relief!! Had a small 2nd degree tear, and my uterus was quite slow to contract after delivery so there was a bit of bleeding. In fact having that massaged to stop the bleeding was more painful than pushing out the baby!!!!

Am soooo glad I had him a week early - that'll teach DH to go on and on about how he knows first babies are always late WinkGrin
