bunnygirl80 · 01/11/2010 22:00

Congratulations worrisome Glad everything worked out well in the end, although it sounds like little Loclan had a bit of a dramatic start

crazy congrats on the scan

Yorkshire hope your BP settles down. I know what you mean about getting impatient - it's not helping that I've already starting getting emails and facebook messages asking if I have any news yet!!

cherry obviously your baby is in need of the nutrients contained in smokey bacon crisps Grin

highheels congrats on the BFP Smile

I'm well and truly starting operation "come on out babybunny". So far I'm living off pineapple and raspberry leaf tea, and taking clary sage baths every day. Might even attempt to seduce DH tonight Blush

Post properly tomorrow.x

YorkshireTeaDrinker · 02/11/2010 00:52

Congratulations worrisome. Sounds like you've had a fairly traumatic time, but really glad everything worked out well in the end and you are home and enjoying getting to know Lochlan.

highheels congratulations on the BFP

Cherry don't worry about the rubbish food habit. I have eaten more junk whilst pregnant than at any other time. And in the early stages its best just to eat whatever you can keep down.

I did as you and Bellaby suggested and headed back to bed this afternoon. I managed to get clean and dressed by 4.00pm, which wasn't too bad. My body clock is all over the place at the moment - probably good preparation for when LO arrives.

Bunny, I hope operation "come on out babybunny" is going well.

I started raspberry leaf tea on saturday and I'm hoping it might be working. Definately geting more Braxton hicks (had a few mid afternoon, which made me get out of bed, and more this evening). Also I think I may have started leaking water. Haven't has a 'show' as such, but earlier this evening had a lot of pink mucous, followed by intermittent dribbles of fluid, heavy enough to make me resort to sanitary pads. I'm pretty sure I'm not peeing myself, so think this must be my waters starting to dribble out? Anyone know if this is how waters can break? But not having any painful or regular contractions, so I don't think I'm in labour. But am hopeful that all this is an indication that something could be about to start before too long...

bunnygirl80 · 02/11/2010 02:22

Yorkshire that sounds like something is happening for you!! As far as I've been told, pink mucous means you're losing your mucous plug, and the pinkness suggests the cervix is starting to ripen and dilate a bit.

Your waters can definitely leak as intermittent dribbles - if baby's head is blocking the exit then they will leak if you change position rather than all the time. My hospital wants to you phone in if that starts happening so they can check if it is definintely your waters. Although if it is it then starts the clock ticking for you to go into labour or be induced after 36 hours.

Hopefully your next post will be to announce the arrival of your LO Smile

YorkshireTeaDrinker · 02/11/2010 09:57

Unfortunately, my next post is to say that nothing much is happening. I called the midwife advise line and they said it sounded like it could be the start of my waters going and to go to teh hospital to be checked over. So DH and I went there at 8 o'clock this morning for an assessment. Fluid had completely dried up through the night and, unsurprisingly, the midwife at the hospital could find no signs of water breakage / dilation. She suggested it might have been a show and said to call them straight away if I start to dribble again. Seems very odd. I'm starting to oooze abit now, but am going to wait until I get a definate trickle before contacting the hospital again. I suppose if this isn't amniotic fluid it must just be CM in fairly substantial quantities. Which I suppose means something is about to start fairly soon. I feel a bit of a chump though for not knowing the difference. Blush

Morning all!!

worrisome CONGRATS!!! I bet Lochlan is just gorgeous and worth all your hard work, hope you're enjoying these first few days of mummyhood xx

worrisome huge congrats! Sounds like a bit of a mammoth week but so glad little L is here safe and sound and you're both doing well xx

aly how did Paint Job II go?! Hope more successful than first attempt!

Yorkshire gosh, you must be obsessively knicker checking every two minutes. Sounds like something is happening - will be checking in for news...

YorkshireTeaDrinker · 02/11/2010 10:45

Cherry am laughing at the obsessive knicker checking comment - that's exactly what I'm doing! Made very easy by the fact I need to pee roughly every 10 minutes! There is a certain feeling of coming full circle in all this. I started off with obsessive knicker checking before I got my BFP and low and behold, here I am, nine months later, doing exactly the same thing! Am off for reflexology this afternoon. Hopefully that will get everything moving. :)

WorrisomeHeart · 02/11/2010 11:44

Ahh bliss. We are having such a lovely few days - this baby is amazing, a good sleeper (at the moment) and feeding well. I am tired but very very happy. The expressing seems to be going well too and my supply is increasing. I actually like feeding via bottle - not least because DH can take over if need be! Lochie is still getting confused as to what to do at the boob (we give him a chance to try every few feeds with the bottle as backup), but takes the bottle very well and the ratio of b/milk to formula is good and increasing so all good there too!
I've popped a couple of photos on my profile, so you can see his gorgeousness. And I promise I will read back through and see what you've all been up to, and stop being all about Lochie for a bit!! Grin

WhiteRoses · 02/11/2010 14:56

Gosh, the PARENTING THREAD is very quiet!

So I'll come back here and gate crash! Wink

Hope you're all well.

Gosh, Hermya - Asher is just GORGEOUS! You sound like you got great care too - unlike me, getting told to go home when contractions were 2mins apart, not being told that DS was back to back so being left to feel guilty for not managing to push him out on my own, and then being left alone with DS all night and being told not to buzz! Lol! Shows the difference a good team of midwives makes! Though in fairness, most of mine were fine. Well done though - you sound like you coped brilliantly. Just shows - you do what you have to, don't you?

Lucky - my DH was the same at antenatal classes - laughing and joking and seeming not to take anything in. I used to worry about him not taking being a dad seriously, but since the minute LO was born, he's just been amazing. I don't know what I'd do without him and I trust him 100% with LO. It's weird - maybe just a guy thing?

Bunny - lol - my DH ate his hospital snacks too - pig!

Yorkshire - sorry to hear about the BP - must be scary, but good that it's back down again.

Worrisome - huge congratulations! Grin That sounds horrendous, having LO taken away llike that :( but glad all's well. Good for you keeping going with the BF. I've been having to supplement BF with FF myself, because LO has a rare metabolic condition that means he can't handle a breastmilk only diet, because it has too much protein in it. Anyway, long story short, I've been stuggling a bit with the two types of feeding - latching issues, LO getting confused/frustrated as flow from bottle different from flow from nipple, etc. Think we've now come out the other side though, so if you fancy a chat or want to ask anything or feel like a bit of support, you know where I am. (Hope that didn't sound too condescending!)

Oooooh - Yorkshire - just read your post! Definitely sounds promising! Grin Aww, and now I've read your second... :( Still, here's hoping! Though what're you doing on MN, Girl?! You should be getting some sleep while you can!

By the way, if you're interested - my waters went lying in bed, felt ooze, went to toilet, pad wet with pinkish liquid, nothing else came out, quarter of an hour or so later got some twinges in my stomach and back but was unsure if they were contractions or not (you think you're a chump?! Lol!) Actually wasn't sure if I was imagining it or not, cause by that point in pregnancy, I was so used to being constantly uncomfortable. Don't think I got any more "ooze" till I lay down in hospital though, while getting LO's heart monitored and it was confirmed that I was 3cm dilated. (By then contractions were unmistakable.) After that, I don't actually remember anything more coming out until DS popped out and I know there was a gush. But that could've just been because my mind was elsewhere up till then. But what I'm saying is I wasn't particularly aware of my waters at all after that initial leak.

Oooh - good luck! I'll be checking back all the time now to see how you're getting on! Grin Such a bonus if you go ahead of time! :)

Worrisome - great to hear how well you're getting on! :) CAn't get on to see the pictures, though I'm dying to... Dunno if my laptop's playing up or what, though I saw Hermya's picture no bother... ???

Right, going now. Sorry for gatecrashing and sorry to those I've missed. As I say, good luck to Yorkshire - as I say, hope you're getting some sleep. And I'm also watching you now too Bunny, now that we're into November! :)

Bellaby · 02/11/2010 18:57

Evening All

worrisome - love e photos. He is so cut Grin

whiteroses lovely to see you popping in. You should definitely hang out here if the parents thread is quiet and pass on any pearls of wisdom

YTD am watching this chat avidly!

I think I spoke too soon about my nausea easing. I was sick for the first time today when I was at work. I think it might have been punishment for not going to work yesterday Smile

Right got to go and watch. Few episodes of Desperate Housewives awaits

Big Wave to everyone else

Bellaby · 02/11/2010 18:59

Oh dear brain was thinking Faster than I was typing. Should read 'love the photos. He is so cute'

WorrisomeHeart · 02/11/2010 20:18

Grin Bellaby I had this picture of a little muscley baby when I read that!

Whiteroses thanks for the support offer - not condescending at all! We new mummies have to take support where given! Sorry to hear about your little one, I had a read on the other thread but not had a chance to post yet. You are dealing with it so well though. Did you ever consider expressing so that you were solely using bottles?

Yorkshire sooo exciting! Hope you are feeling ok...

Has anyone heard anything from chance? I noticed she's still on the due to have list as opposed to the popped one...

We took Lochie out for his first trip to the shops today - he slept the whole way through! And then we came home and he had a bath, and was not a happy bunny! I'm sure our neighbours think we're murdering him at times!

bunnygirl80 · 02/11/2010 22:25

Yorkshire it definitely sounds like something starting to happen. I think sometimes it's hard even for MWs to tell if waters are leaking if it's a slow leak, so it must be pretty much impossible for us to tell Smile

worrisome glad the expressing is going well. Your photos are so cute. Smile

chance must have had her LO by now, but I'm happy to leave her on the grads list so there's no way I make it to the top Grin

roses the post natal thread does seem quiet....I suppose you guys all have better things to be doing than sitting on MN all day though

bellaby sorry your sickness seems to have come back. I remember mine would occasionally come back for a day or so until about 14 weeks or so

Went to see the physio yesterday about my possible SPD. Was a bit of a waste of time to be honest - she gave me a support belt to wear and basically said not to worry too much as baby's nearly here. Asked her about delivery positions (like my obs had told me to) and she just said "can't you just lie on your back". Am a bit Angry that a physio working in a maternity hospital has no idea whatsoever about the concept of an active birth. Hmm

YorkshireTeaDrinker · 02/11/2010 22:44

Just a quick update before I go to bed. I'm starting to feel light contractions, roughly every 10 - 20 minutes apar, been going for about 4 hours. Not sure if this is a prelude to the main event or an unrelated warm up act that's going to fizzle out shortly. So far only slight discomfort, which is more than managable, which makes me think it might be a brief floor show that's going to burn out soon.

Still continuing to slowly ooze. I guess this is the start of something, but I suspect its going to be a slow burner, hence going to try and get some kip whilst I can.

worrisome - love the photos. You have a real cutie there.

Whiteroses great to see you. Hopefully I'll be along to the baby thread before too long!!

Bunny am a bit Shock at your physio - that's such an outdated attitude. BTW, you might want to consider a spot of reflexology to get things moving. I had a session at 2.00pm and have been having semi-regular contractions since 6.00pm.

Thanks for the support everyone. I'll let you know if this develops into something substantial. Or I'll disappear altogether, in which case assume I'm busy and I'll hopefully be back in a day or two with a birth announcement!! Grin

pixiestix · 02/11/2010 23:37

YTD - I'm so excited for you!!! Grin A slow start is the best start believe me! My contractions started immedietely because of the induction - 4 or 5 contractions every ten minutes, each lasting about 90 seconds. It was hell on earth! This way your body will start producing all the endorphins it needs, rather than being thrown into the deep end. Good luck!!

Worrisome - OMG, Lochie is GORGEOUS! Your birth announcement made me all weepy - how bloody awful to be seperated like that. I'm so glad everything is ok now. He sounds like a proper little sweetie! Smile

Highheels - massive congrats! Smile I was starting to think we wouldn't get a BFP at all in October. Has it sunk in yet?

I'm having major internet problems at the minute which is why I've been so quiet, rather than it being Teg's fault! I'm off to look at the parenting thread and catch up on everybody elses news now.

highheelsandequations · 03/11/2010 08:47

Morning all,

Thanks for all the congrats. It's starting to sink in a little now but I am absolutely terrified of something going wrong. Am off work today as not been feeling well at all, so of course am panicked. Have had some cramps and a dodgy tummy, but not the expected sickness, have been running to the loo every 30 minutes for the past 2 days. Spoke to NHS 24 last night and got some reassuramce, now waiting for my GPs to phone back and see if I can get an appointment for today. Some good news though, phoned my FC and have an early scan for next Wed! Put down the phone thinking "gosh, that's really early", then realised I'd given the dates I thought I'd ovulated a week earlier than I should. Thought about ringing back and changing it, but decided that anything that might set my mind at ease is good. Should be at least 5+ by then so they should be able to see something and at least I'll be able to find out exactly how far along I am.

Sorry, my first proper post on this thread and it's a me me me moan. Hope everyone is okay.

mumnerves · 03/11/2010 11:13

Hi all! Sorry it's been weeks since I've posted. Had a nasty cold that's taken weeks to clear, also been sorting things out at work and finally started ML.
Also, due to coughing so much when I had the cold I pulled a rib muscle which was getting better till I let out a big sneeze the other day and pulled it even more :(
Lots for me to catch up on, so here goes:

luckyseven yes we are pretty close due dates wise, I've not had much rib kicking as such at the moment as LO has mainly been the wrong way around, and although has turned in the last week is curled and seems to be kicking my stomach instead. I understand exactly what you mean about the dramatics, I was bending over everytime I got kicked in the bladder at work and getting funny looks too. looked like a bloke getting kicked in the groin! Glad your scan went well! lol at you jumping into someone elses car! :o
How did the parenting classes go? I didn't think DH would take it seriously either but I think the classes actually gave him the wake up call he needed!

bunnygirl naughty you for moving furniture around on your own! Your nesting instincts must've been pretty strong to do that. I doubt I'll be nesting anytime soon, am too much of a slattern to be actively scrubbing anything Blush Sounds like not long now for you! :) I've told my DH that if he wants a small drink that's ok (1-2 units) but he's not a drink and driver anyway so he abstaining at the moment which is not a bad thing as he's prone to going overboard iyswim and he's seeing this as a good opportunity to stop, but we'll see! I did also point out he couldn't be drunk and look after LO.
lol at your DH eating the snacks, I though mine was the only one who did things like that! I can't find the choc fudge that I bought for the mw in the hosp and I'm sure suspecting he's eaten them Biscuit
Hope your operation get baby bunny out works soon, do keep us updated, can't believe the physio, I heard that if you have SPD there are certain positions to be avoided too and something about not opening your legs too wide during birth?

oneof8 Thanks for sharing your family's BF experience, it's reassuring. I don't think boobie size has anything to do with milk production apparently. Am now a GG cup and looking to go into a H next week and I'm sure I'll be struggling too. In fact, it's the few weeks after the birth that I'm dreading the most!

Mrswajs superpenguin & kurly congrats glad scans went well, esp penguin, glad LO's foot is ok and you didn't end up with a pink disaster!

Mrswajs do you have to countersign the assesment? I did with work and if I were you I'd refuse to countersign it on the basis that you don't agree with the assessment? (hope it's not too late) if you meet with her maybe tell her that the moving departments would cause you quite a lot of stress especially when you're pregnant? Then she has to take it into account? At least you've got the union behind you.
WRT buying things, I would wait for bargains, especially as you're due after christmas. I held myself back mainly due to paranoia that something would happen and just bought stuff that were bargains and got so most things reduced. My best new buy was a manual madela breast pump for £5! You'll also get money saving tips as you go along hopefully and know where to get things cheaper.
Sorry to hear about DP's job :(

Cherry hope you feel less tired soon, your body is just telling you to rest, rest, rest and I was just the same trying to do everything as normal. Congrats on the scan :)
Maybe you should get some compression stockings as your veins can get worse? Ask your mw, you can get some on the NHS and since don't have to pay for prescriptions they will be free. Not the most attractive of things but should do the job (sorry am assuming you're in UK)Don't worry about what you're eating at the moment, you can eat better when you're not feeling as sick, which I hope won't be for much longer.

addie CONGRATULATIONS!!! :o

spirael can't believe Mindy has outgrown her moses basket already! Shock Motherhood seems to be suiting you :)

bellaby hope you enjoy telling everyone your news :) Pregnancy yoga is great, it's really helped keep my sciatica symptoms to a minimum.

crazy and anyone suffering from MS, I took my vits just before bedtime so they didn't make me feel sick as was feeling sick for about 6 hours after taking them in the morning. Just something worth trying.

Hermya Congratulations!!! What a lovely name :) Maybe this is the start of a life filled with punctuality for him?? :o Love the piccie, he's so sweet!! THanks for sharing your birth experience too, glad you're happy with it.

worrisome Congratulations!! Finally after such a long up and down wait :) Sorry to hear you had such a trauma. I'm sure baby Lachlan was well worth it though :o

halo sorry you're still feeling rubbish, I never got the 2nd trimester high, just felt better than during the 1st, which to me was a bonus, congrats tho on reaching the 2nd trimester :)

Yorkshire hope your Blood pressure settles soon. I've started one cup of RL tea this week (35 weeks atm) and plan to build it up too. Was under the impression that it doesn't
bring on labour but can quicken stage 2 labour? Am getting some braxton hicks from it but nothing major. Hope baby yorkshire makes an appearance soon as you sound pretty fed up

highheels congratulations on the BFP! The feeling terrified and not believing is normal at this stage, have you done pregnancy multiple tests yet Wink

am Envy at all you organised ladies, I've not packed my hosp bag and just chucked stuff into a bag, also not gotten round to writing a birth plan yet Blush My excuse was waiting to start ML so now I've started, really got no excuse and need to really get round to it. We've also built our cotbed and am just waiting for FIL to put up some curtains and shelves for us in the nursery and it's done! Got myself a massive lovely chair to bf in, although DH has threatened to move it downstairs to the lounge in front of his tv and xbox....I was NOT impressed as you can imagine!! Angry

yorkshire fingers crossed for you hun, it's your time, I just know it, woohoo!

highheels don't worry, I think cramping is pretty normal and I had the runs the first few weeks too (sorry for TMI but it's necessary Grin ). My sickness didn't really start till week 7.

Good to hear you have an early scan, that should put your mind at ease. Just try to relax and not let your mind wander because it transmits to the little bean.

bunny that's pretty crap of the physio. what a load of rubbish! Hopefully some of the lovely ladies here will be able to help you more than she did.

I have yoga again tonight. I am really enjoying it and would totally recommend it to anyone. Except I am finding it a challenge to be mature when the teacher keeps mentioning 'vagina' 'anus' and 'perineum' Blush I'd better get used to that, right! Haha!

Hope everyone is doing well xx
