WorrisomeHeart · 27/09/2010 12:45

Oh roses I am in floods at your wonderful, wonderful news!!!! And sooo in awe that you managed to do it all without pain relief - you rock lady!! Many many many congrats to you and your DH!

No news from me really, except that the itch has disappeared and my bloods are clear so can cross cholestasis off the worry list!! Am just so tired of being pregnant now and even though I know there are still 2 weeks off my due date, I would be quite happy for him to come now! The periodish cramps I had a couple of days ago have stopped but am getting more BH's so hopefully things are happening in the right order. It's funny that these last few weeks seem to be the longest of the 38 we've done so far!!!

Hope everyone else is well!

OneOf8 · 27/09/2010 13:41

WhiteRoses - Congratulations! All I can say is I hope I have at least a tiny bit of your pain threshold! I can be quite the woss, although I am hoping to do things without an epidural if poss (OH recons these will be the famous last words in a few months time!)

Addie not sure if you wanted it highlighted, but I think it is lovely how you have added Elliot to the list (wording wise). I actually woke up worrying about how this would be done over the weekend, (would it be ok/how would I feel, would it be to much etc) but think this is perfect.

In my news, my blood sugar levels were fine, but they will continue to keep a eye - which is good news, but then it does mean I am suffering from light-headedness randomly (non-sugar related) so will making a note to mention this to the midwife if still happening when I go for the next appointment.

Also, yesterday I was officially 24 weeks!

What's the next milestone?! I am dreading to 30 odd weeks appointment as that is when it is recorded to discuss the birth plan - but I have been avoiding the "exit strategy" (as OH calls it) as feel a bit iffy with the practicalities of it all!!

Hope everyone else is ok?
xx

fudgecat · 27/09/2010 14:00

Thankyou addie that was very kind of you

xxx

Hermya321 · 27/09/2010 17:02

White Oh my gosh congratulations!! I bet you're so in love with that little man aren't you. I'm glad you're doing well.

Addie Thank you for updating the stats list.

Fudge I hope you're getting all the support you need at this time, you're in my thoughts. Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you.

Worrisome I'm glad your bloods are clear.

Oneof8 Have you done any reading around the whole issue of the exit senario at all? I found it helpful to do a bit of research before I did my birth plan. I'm one of those that is forearmed is forewarned but I know not everyone likes to know the ins and outs of the proceedures.

Well I'm 36 weeks today, not much has really happened in the past week. I'm just pottering around the house trying to get stuff sorted before LO decides to grace us with his presence.

cherrycobbler · 27/09/2010 19:56

Evening all

Fudge I am so so sorry to read your news. I can't think of anything even vaguely adequate to say, other than you and your DH and lovely baby Elliot have been in my thoughts and prayers constantly. You have just been so amazing in getting through such a difficult time, I am in awe. I am really glad you got to spend some special time together as a family with Elliot too.

Whiteroses massive congrats!! Glad you're now doing well and that your little one is too Grin

CrazyB and Kurly how are you both doing? Is work and sickness any better? And crazy is your scan soonish - I remember its around the 7/8 week mark? Really hope it goes well and looking fwd to hearing about it.

Halo how are you feeling? Has the pain eased at all?

Hermya Hope you are enjoying time as a lady of leisure! Loved your account of meeting Dr McDreamy! All our GPs here definitely not anywhere near the Dr Dreamy status so I shall hope to bump into some delicious locums soon!

The m/sickness has kicked in for me too. Today is not too bad (just lots of feeling sick at my desk and sipping Pret Ginger Beer very slowly) but was awful on Fri and Sat - crippling nausea, couldn't keep anything down at all, not even water, threw up all day and just felt horrendous. Bizarrely was much better the next day and I've been able to eat a bit Sun and today. If Sat was anything like hyperemesis, I have no idea how those poor ladies with that cope for weeks of it, I am embarrassed to say that I was in tears at one point I felt so wretched Blush. I am feeling a bit more pregnant and bit less like a fraud but still completely terrified.

Last but definitely not least - thinking of you Pixie and hope all is going/ went very very well!!

haloflo · 27/09/2010 20:20

Evening all.

roses Many congrats on the birth of your little boy - he sounds beautiful. The birth sounds like an ordeal with noone telling you what was happening and things not to your choosing but you sound like you got through it really well. Also your DH sounds brilliant.

worrisome Glad the itching has stopped. I had some minor itching last week and went into panic overdrive until I remember the liver thing isn't a threat until later in pregnancy and it was just my skin growing. Hope your BH and other signs all lead to your LO arriving sooner rather than later.

cherry I am much better thanks for asking - in fact the pain is completely gone. The weekend sounds awful for you, you poor thing. I hope you continue to feel better. Are you going to the MW soon? I booked an appointment at 8 weeks and the MW saw me at 9. It felt like a real milestone.

kurly Same to you, I hope you feeling better this week but if you are still off work don't worry. It's understandable and it won't be forever. I hope your scan appointment comes through soon.

oneof8 Congrats on 24 weeks. That must feel good. I really feel like the stretch to 20 weeks is dragging, I can't wait to be in the second half of pregnancy. Has your LO had hiccups yet? I read that happens between 24-28 weeks. Maybe that could be your next milestone?

hermya I hope you enjoyed your first day of ML. Pottering around sounds lovely and relaxing.

crazyb Your scan is this week yes? I hope it goes well.

bellaby If you are lurking, I hope the early days aren't too worrying for you and you feel you can join us soon.

Thank you all who offered advice last week. I'm so glad the pain has gone. I now feel like a bit of a drama queen for last week but it really did hurt! Here's hoping it doesn't come back.

Only news from me is that I told everyone at work. It was little earlier than I was originally planning but my small bump (at 15+1) was starting to give me away. (Bio oil is now in use!) I hope everyone else is well.

cherrycobbler · 27/09/2010 20:33

v glad you're feeling better halo, fingers crossed it stays away! And must seem much more real now that everyone at work knows. I have a bump already, only 7 weeks today. Its obviously all fat/ bloating but already feel self conscious at work!

Saw doc last week but not heard about midwife appt yet - they said they'd get in touch. I also have to choose hospitals but have nothing to go on on any of them so just going to go for the nearest one.

haloflo · 27/09/2010 22:00

Yeah it does feel more real! Bit scary everyone knowing though. By the way I was undoing my top button at 8 weeks and that was in my more generous clothes. I know some of that was bloating but also i felt it was my body making room for a growing baby too. Hope you get an appointment soon.

OneOf8 · 27/09/2010 22:44

Hi all just stopping in to say hope everything was ok at the scan crazy

Thanks halo, its had some random movements but not sure they were hiccups! Its so lovely to feel baby moving around more frequently now! Have felt random limbs- not sure what bit but either arm or leg at a guess, and felt what feels like somersaults- which are very strange! Thick hiccups will be the next thing to watch out for!

Are any of the other recent grads holding out for the suprise? xx

bunnygirl80 · 27/09/2010 23:22

roses congrats on the birth of your baby boy. Sounds like he made a pretty dramatic entrance into the world. It must have been pretty scary with all of those people rushing into the room, but at least he got here safely.

ozzie It's good to hear that Thomas is doing so well. And well done for continuing with the expressing - I imagine it must be so hard to find enough time in the day to do that as well as all looking after Tom. I'm so pleased that you've lost all your baby weight already...it makes me think that there is hope that I'll return to my pre-pg size some time before this baby starts uni Grin

addie thanks for updating the list. I had been thinking about the best way for us to remember Elliot, and you've done a great job.

worrisome glad to hear you've stopped itching. Hopefully the BH's mean your LO's arrival's not too far away

halo glad your pain has settled.

cherry sorry you've been feeling so sick. Hope you're feeling a bit better soon

I'm trying to spend a few days relaxing and enjoying being on mat leave, but the preschool 2 doors away from us is having it's playground renovated while the kids are on holiday. So rather than chilling out in a relaxing calming house, I'm stuck listening to pneumatic drills and other random noisy machinery from 7:30am to 5pm Angry

We had our first antenatal class on Saturday. DH looked more and more scared throughout - especially when we went up to look at delivery suite and the post-natal ward and he heard a baby crying. I think it was the first time it dawned on him that we will have a baby to look after in a few weeks time. He's also thinking of waxing his xhest in case LO finds a hairy chest too rough against his delicate skin HmmGrin

chancewouldbeafinething · 28/09/2010 02:34

roses OMG you did well not to slap that MW! after we saw a birthing video, I had told DH that if he sees a MW rub my leg etc that he should tell them to get their hands off before i kill them (i dont like strangers touching me)
You did amazingly well, and i feel i should take heart that you did it with no pain relief...i hope i can be as strong as you. I hope you are enjoying your time with your 2 men xx

worrisome glad your tests are clear. I know what you mean, my body is ready to not be pregnant any more! not to mention I would like to meet my son!

hermya good to hear you are enjoying the calm before the storm :)

Cherry sorry to hear MS has got you, hopefully it will pass quickly!

halo yeay for your bump!!!

bunny LOL @ chest waxing?! at least he is being thoughtful! shame about the work going on, hopefully you can get a late nap in? How nice is this sunshine? I am heading to the park for a bit now with 3 x 4y.o and a 5 y.o boys...luckily not alone:)

addie hope the massage goes well this week, will be hoping for some news from you soon.

Have an appointment later today at the hospital, so will see if they take pity on me is this state (CTS in both hands now, feet/ankles the size of hobbits feet...basically my body has had enough) I am really looking forward to being able to sleep again soon (i know that is weird to say before having a baby, but i havent slept in such a long time)

crazybutterflylady · 28/09/2010 11:10

Morning all... wow you all have such good memories; you put me to shame!
My scan was last night and it was incredible. I mean it was just a blob inside another blob, she you could see its heartbeat and hear it.

The gestational sac was big for the timings but she measured the bean at 11.3mm (!!!) which makes me 7+3 yesterday and keeps my due date as Friday 13th (!) May. I shall be keeping my legs firmly crossed that day so I don't give birth to a nightmare child! :)

I have my booking in appointment next week. It seems to be ticking along quite nicely now although I am still feeling very sick and very fat. It's all worth it though!

Halo congrats on spilling the beans at work, I bet everyone is really chuffed for you. Glad to hear the pain has eased off for you.

cherry it sounds like you are very similar to me, sickness and a bump already - albeit just bloating. I have just bought some maternity leggings because I am having such trouble with clothes. Anything remotely tight makes me want to throw up. Have you searched on the hospital choices on mumsnet? I found some really helpful threads where people had been given the same choice as me. It can just confuse you a bit more but it's quite interesting to read about people who have had experience with them.

Oneof8 I was planning on holding out for the surprise but DH surprised me by saying he'd like to find out. Tbh he has very little input into the pregnancy once the dancing's out of the way that I am happy to just go with it because it makes no difference to me really.

bunny you need to get yourself some earplugs! They might come in handy in a few weeks time too Grin - the hairy chest made me chuckle, what a sweet DH!! I would say the regrowth will be more uncomfortable for the mini bunny than the hair itself...!

chance sorry to hear you're uncomfortable :( we spend ages wanting babies without realising how much they can affect our bodies from the inside! I hope the hospital listens to you and you manage to get some relief.

PS - just had a jaffa cake and seems to be helping my MS early girls - quick try em! xx

cherrycobbler · 28/09/2010 12:26

oooh crazy so pleased to hear about your scan, sounds amazing. I think I may have to check out maternity leggings and maternity tights as I am hating the tight feeling too - not a good nausea combo.

bunny LOL re the chest comment, what a sweetie your DH sounds to be worried about that! I have to say I agree with crazy's regrowth comment - stubbly chest may not be relaxing for babybunny...

chance hope appt goes well, keep us updated.

oneof8 I think I want to know the sex - but we'll see!

Mmm jaffa cakes, please send some my way! I was stuck in a meeting that overran which means I am feeling v sick now and don't quite trust myself to go out to get some lunch without throwing up. Blugh.

superpenguin · 28/09/2010 13:13

just wanted to add my sympathies to fudgecat - I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your little Elliot.

Huge congratulations to whiteroses on the birth of your son. It was incredible reading your birth story, sounds like quite an ordeal.

looking forward to hearing from hobnob and pixie soon!

NovemberAli · 28/09/2010 13:52

Congratulations Roses - well done on what sounds like a fairly hectic birth! I know what you mean about the sudden arrival of 8 extra people, the same thing happened to me and I felt like saying "you could at least introduce yourselves before putting your hands up there!! Grin"

Hoping all has gone well for Pixie and Hobnob.

Bunny - love it that your DH is thinking of waxing his chest, bless him!

Glad to hear your scan went well crazy

Hope the MS doesn't get too bad cherry

Matilda has turned into a milk monster - feeding at least every 2 hours in the day, hoping it's just a temporary growth spurt!

kurlyvoice · 28/09/2010 16:49

Fudge, sorry for being a bit late with my response to your brave and beautifully written post, but I have been thinking about the three of you a lot. Elliot is such a beautiful name and I'm so overwhelmed by how amazing you have been. We are all here for you.

November, I have an image of Matilda dressed in a cookie monster suit as she gulps down your milk. Hope you're not too exhausted by it all.

Cherry, I'm totally like you too - I have to eat so ridiculously regularly that I have to nip back to the office between lessons to munch on a cereal bar, as well as break and lunch and as soon as I get (I've just polished off yesterday's leftovers that I couldn't finish at dinner time). Haven't tried jaffa cakes but am not so interested in sweet things - crisps and breadsticks and pasta and toast are much more appealing! According to old wives tales that means I'm having a boy...

Crazy, I am so jealous of your scan - but also so very happy for you! Grin Did you get a picture?

Chance, so sorry to hear that your poor hands are causing you so many problems. I hope that they have done something for you today to make life more bearable, as you really will need your sleep before LO arrives!

Bunny, poor you with your construction site disturbing precious maternity peace. The house across the road from us has had its roof taken off and there is a lot of hammering and drilling, so goodness knows what a whole site will sound like! Your DH sounds like a real sweetie - if you can get iPlayer, there's a programme called Special Deliveries that he might benefit from watching, if he was interested...

halo, how exciting to be able to tell your colleagues. Did you get any annoying "I KNEW it" comments? I told the Head on Friday and he was a real sweetie about it, telling me to rest and make sure that I'm looking after myself, which was a lovely response.

Hermya, how goeth the nesting phase? Are you washing lots of teeny clothes?

OneOf8, I'm so pleased that your sugar levels are normal, and wow at you being 24 weeks and getting used to the baby kicking. Can you feel it from the outside?

Worrisome, how exciting that you're getting so close. Are you managing to enjoy the last few weeks at all, or are you just too fed up now?! Glad that the itch has gone though! I'll start hoping for an early arrival for you... :)

Roses, all I can say is WOW! Am feeling cross on your behalf for all those unannounced people barging in, but glad that your darling boy arrived safe and well. It's going to be something that DH will be instructed in, and while I suppose that these things can't be helped, a quick "I'm Joe and I'm here because..." can't hurt! How are you enjoying life as a family of three?

Hope that pixie and hobnob are ok out there - we're all waiting to hear how things go!

Not much to report from me. I went back to work on Friday so felt like I had earned my weekend, and I've been in the last two days as well, although today was quite a struggle with overwhelming nausea at a few moments. I told my best friend on Sunday because we talk every day on MSN and I got fed up with inventing excuses for going to bed early. She was so excited and couldn't stop texting me for the rest of the day, and I can trust her to keep our secret for the next few weeks.

I haven't had a date for my scan through yet, and was really hoping for a letter to be waiting on the doormat when I got home today. They'll get an earful on Friday if nothing has arrived by then! I'm also feeling very fat and I'm sure that someone's going to put 2+2 together and ask questions...

On a wonderful note, we had a message from one of DH's best friends at the weekend to say that they are expecting their first baby in early April, which puts them about a month ahead of us, so my fear about not having any RL baby buddies has been alleviated somewhat!

Hope everyone has had a good Tuesday and that I've not missed too many people out.

Hermya321 · 28/09/2010 19:17

I've been doing the last bits of my baby shopping today, I bought a sling and two baby sleeping bags plus his coming home outfit. So all that remains to be done is to remove some boxes from the spare room and put the cot up this weekend and we'll be done.

I've put my cosmic order in for the 5th October. I'll be 37 weeks by then and as far as I'm concerned he's hung around in there long enough. I want to get on with being his Mummy now.

Kurly I'm now onto the stash of reusable nappies now. I'm glad you're feeling a bit better now though.

Cherry Did you manage to get some lunch without feeling too rough?

Crazy I know what you mean about a blob within a blob, I got a scan at around your stage and to compare that to the little monster that is sticking his foot out of the side of my tummy is quite astonding. It's quite amazing how much they grow.

Chance I'm sorry you're feeling so horrid at the moment, late pregnancy is really uncomfy isn't it. I'm looking forward to being able to roll over in bed without feeling like I'm dragging some sort of canonball with me for the ride.

Bunny LOL at your hubby, I doubt your LO will really care much about the state of your husbands chest. But how annoying is that about the drilling and how inconsiderate, don't they know you are supposed to be all zen like before birth.

Oneof8 When your LO gets a bit bigger and you start to feel big lumps the hard hard lump is normally the head and the hard squishy lump is normally the bum. Wait until they start to have a favourite position, my LO likes to be in an upside down L shape and he also likes to stick his bum out of the left side of my bump and then rub it back and fourth like he's waving it. He is a strange child.

Halo Awww at your little bump. I'm using bio oil as well, it smells lovely doesn't it. I don't know if it's doing anything, I haven't got any stretch marks so far. I'm also using the mama mio tummy rub stuff alongside it. At the very least I'll have a nicely moisturised tummy.

OP posts:
chancewouldbeafinething · 28/09/2010 19:57

crazy glad the scan went well, dont worry about the date apparently only 2% of babies arrive on the due date!

november every 2 hours!!! i hope it is only a growth spurt, how do you get anything done?

cherry & crazy good idea not to wear anything too tight it will make you feel awful

kurly its good your boss is supportive, and exciting to start telling people isnt it? makes it feel more real. Hope the sickness phase passes. Hope you get your scan date soon.

Sorry for my moaning! i know it sounds really awful, and i am actually very excited to meet my little man. its not even any part of my huge baby belly that is annoying me, just that the rest of me is falling to bits. I am going to private physio this week to get a bit more intensive treatment before he arrives. Also have another scan booked for friday to check on the size. I have then got to see the consultant on Tuesday (we have a bank holiday on monday) to discuss when to induce (hopefully not CS). The babies head didnt move down any further since last week, so now they are wondering if there is enough room....only time will tell. better stop typing as i think i have woken DH up now oops xx

bunnygirl80 · 28/09/2010 23:38

chance I'm loving the sunshine, it's so nice to be able to sit outside all day. The only problem with the warm weather is that my fingers have swollen up like balloons.

Hope the physio manages to get you sorted out and your scan shows LO's not too big to fit out.

crazy glad your scan went well. My brother was born on Friday 13th and he's almost completely normal Grin

kurly hope you get your scan date soon. It's lovely that you'll have a friend to go through pg with too

November hope Matilda's letting you get some rest between feeds

hermya our LO's must be somehow psychically linked because mine does exactly the same - bum out of my left side and then moves it from side to side. He's also developed a habit of sticking his foot out of the top of my bump if I slouch.....it's so kind of him to be concerned about his mummy's posture Wink

DH has decided he's not going to wax his chest after all - I'm sure the mini bunny will like to snuggle in the fur Grin

I set up our change table with all of the nappies, wipes etc yesterday afternoon. Poor DH looked like he was going to have a heart attack when he saw it..I think it's starting to dawn on him that he will have an actual baby to look after soon. Smile

MrsWajs · 29/09/2010 10:32

Crazy I found out I was pregnant on Friday 13th August if that's any consolation?? And that definitely wasn't a bad thing!

I was also born on the 13th although not a Friday - maybe 13 is my number??!!

Sorry been a bit absent recently girls, I did do a huge post a few days ago and my computer messed up when I pressed send so lost it all and really didn't have it in me to type it all out again!
Just trying to while away the next 2 weeks til my official 12 weeks scan!! Easier said than done as now a few more people are becoming suspicious of me - I'm finding it pretty annoying actually!!

Anyway hope everyone is keeping ok.

MissFlick · 29/09/2010 14:10

crazy, Mr. Flick was born on Friday 13th (April) and he is pretty normal :) xxx

pixiestix · 29/09/2010 18:30

Hello!
This is going to be a very short post as I am typing one handed while my daughter sleeps on me! Yep, I have joined Team Pink!! Tegan was born on Sunday weighing 7lbs 7. Total nightmare of a three day labour ending in emergency section, but wow, she is so worth the trauma! Roses -I am jealous as hell of your speedy, natural birth. You are a better woman than me!!! Grin
I'm going to catch up properly now and post a full update in a couple of days when my body and brain are feeling a bit more normal. Love to all from me and my scrummy little girl!!! xx

Hermya321 · 29/09/2010 19:16

Pixie Congratulations to you and baby Tegan!!! Great name by the way.

MrsW Early on in pregnancy I thought people were becoming suspicious of me, but actually most people were happily oblivious.

Chance I know the feeling about falling apart.

Bunny Wow, I bet you can't wait to meet your LO. Glad your DH decided not to wax his chest.

I have officially finished my baby shopping, now all he needs to do is to hang on until this Sunday after midnight and I'll be 37 weeks and officially term.
