ah, speaking of bras, where do we recommend for high street purchasing of maternity bras?

Casserole · 04/09/2010 17:31

NOT mothercare. Awful awful awful things. My M&S ones were a bit better last time. My best one was an emma james one. Got the Bravissimo catalogue through this morning (Why? Have never bought anyfink off them!) and noticed they had some in there... only a couple.

Muser · 04/09/2010 17:50

I haven't bothered with maternity bras. Just went to Bravissimo and got some more regular bras, only a size up thanks to expanding boobage.

SilverSky · 04/09/2010 18:36

Agree not MuvvaCare. The assts don't know jack. I foun M&S to be best so far though do need to venture to Bravissimo once the milk comes in which I think is anytime after 35 wks??

Got Drs appt Weds and seeing MW Fri to change my notes over to the diff hossie and to get my health in pregnancy grant form - thank you very much! It's not liketue MWs remind you or advise you.

Anyone else been watching Home Births on Sky? It's a fine line between interesting and scaring the shit out of me. Lots of non preggo buds keep asking if I am scared about the birth. I reply cos I don't know what to expect and it seems so far away still that half me isn't even thinking about it and the other half is a teeny bit curious/scared/cacking it but intending to remain as calm as poss as losing the plot won't help the situ. Of course I reserve the right to completly lose control if I so wish.

Medee · 04/09/2010 18:47

I now have maternity jeans, and have finally been able to squeal down the phone at my mate who has been holiday, and now knows we are due with in days of each other.

Cosmosis · 04/09/2010 18:59

pre baybee cookathon is a) good for keeping you occupied during mat leave b) leaves a nice smug glow and c) cheaper than ready meals and takeaway - although we will do plenty of that too !

Anyhoo, monitoring all fine, Artie happy and active, me all normal.

The doc did say though that they want us to decide on an induction date as the longer you leave it the more likely it is something will go wrong, so we are thinking Tuesday / Wednesday as figure we'll just want it out by then!

rollerbaby · 04/09/2010 19:41

Fear not drom I am not domestic goddess of any kind. It is for precisely this reason I think it would be worth doing. Otherwise it will be cream crackers with lurpak and curry for 6 weeks which is no way to live when your body is trying to a) recover from large watermelon sized object exiting your nether regions and b) attempting to produce 14 gallons of dairy product a day.

cos you are sounding very relaxed about it all, glad you are ok and hopefully enjoying last few days of alone time with mr cos.

The cot is up. We only had one minor argument with swearing. Looks lovely. Rest of room looks like baby stuff bomb site. One glass of wine is doing the business now. 2 episodes of mad men and nice bath...

Medee · 04/09/2010 19:53

cheese fans - most of the M+S soft cheeses are made from pasteurised milk.

SilverSky · 04/09/2010 20:44

Even their Wensleydale and carrot chutney sarnie?

OkieCokie · 04/09/2010 22:21

Speaking of alcohol consumption on hols I had a (small) glass of prosecco each morning at breakfast (yup breakfast) and a (small) glass of wine each night while getting ready for dinner. Have I killed my baybeee?! He/she is certainly quite active. In fact compared to number 1 child this one moves heaps now.

I agree with the cookathon. Stews/soups and bolognaise sauce a must just for ease and wholesomeness.

I have resorted to sitting on ball to type on laptop and watch TV to ease the back ache. In fact today I arranged for our sofa cushions to get refilled with something other than just feathers as it is now so bloody uncomfortable. Frankly I sit on the bloody thing enough so I may as well sit in comfort. It is setting us back a small fortune but less than a new sofa (yes, it was nearly coming to that)

SilverSky · 04/09/2010 23:12

skatergrrrrl is you laying ?????

rollerbaby · 04/09/2010 23:32

That is my kind of holiday okie. Let's get together for a ball bouncing session soon. Slow cooked lamb has made fuckloads of shepherds pie. Am stunned and amazed at my latent cooking brilliance.

SkiHorseWonAWean · 05/09/2010 08:47

okie The night I went out with the girls at around 33 (?) weeks and had a couple of margeritas and went to a loud dancey pub with boom boom music, little Bear loved it. He was bopping like he were stood in front of Simon Cowell! Grin

Soups are good in theory, but - it's a fucker trying to balance a bowl & eat one handed when you're feeding/have a baybee attached to you. Perhaps you could decant it in to a sippy cup! Wink

Prospective layers, make sure you've got the basics in. Milk, bread, coffee, cheese etc. especially if you end up in hospital - the love of your life will eat all of these in your absence - will probably also eat all your lovingly prepared meals. Wink Make sure you've got cat/dog/gerbil food in to, lots of bog roll and washing powder. Lots of soap & bacterial handwash. Suddenly hygiene will be top of your list of priorities as you wash your hands 1000 times a day.

silver I reckon skater laid it about 10 minutes after she logged off last time - a terrible queue jumper indeed!

ginhag · 05/09/2010 09:24

witty glad you are being well looked after. When do you see mw again?

Re food.... That is mr gin's job. Now, after the birth, and, well, forever really.

Backinthebox · 05/09/2010 10:43

We're getting to that time of year that I find best for cooking - put meat, veg and liquid in stew pot. Cook slowly for hours. Et voila! Food for the next 3 days! Works with any kind of meat and liquid - sausage and red wine casserole with juniper berries and mushrooms sploshed on a bed of mash, anyone? Beef, beer and onions? Mmmmm!

Obviously Skater is next, even with Cos doing her best to scare her baybee out by going and sitting in hospital to wait for it to make an appearance. Terrible queue jumper, tut tut..... Grin

I am disappointingly not showing any signs at all of laying a baybee any time soon. I do have aching eyeballs this morning though. Any idea why? Confused

SilverSky · 05/09/2010 14:01

boxy from the dross that was X factor last night?

I shall mostly be spending the afternoon on the sofa watching the Burghley coverage! Have had a mad morning and now my legs ache like mad.

Lamb shank stew with mash last was LUSH courtesy of the man of the house. The profiteroles didn't happen instead it was apple strudel and custard. The amount of food followed by a two hour nap on the sofa prob explains why i couldn't sleep when I put musket to bed and I was still awake at midnight. Not to mention my stomach just achedas it tried to digest all that grub.

Been to MotherCare today. Rotten place. Service is soooo slow. We know haz Moses basket and stand. Should unwashed the covers? When mu pushchair arrives should I was the foot muff thingymabob too??

Thank you wise ones!

Anyone else got muggy weather !? We have had rain already but it's pretty hot out.

Muser · 05/09/2010 14:51

I have run 5k and walked a lot and eaten pie. I am now off home for bath, a cup of tea, and many biscuits.

My inner thigh is bloody sore and am a bit worried about what I might have done to it.

OP posts:
SilverSky · 05/09/2010 15:56

muse exercise is your enemy!!! Crikey 5 miles - are you superwoman? If only I had the energy!

MrsFC · 05/09/2010 16:10

Muse - was that the Adidas Womens challenge? I was watching my friends run in that today! (and that was quite enough exercise for te thanks!!)

Muser · 05/09/2010 16:19

5 kilometres Silver, and that was quite enough for me. I have run 5 miles before, but won't be doing that again until I am not pregnant.

It was the Adidas 5k MrsFC, I was running it for the Ectopic Pregnancy Trust. Didn't run the entire way, but ran all of the first 2k and the last 1k, and did walk a bit/run a bit for the other 2. So I am pretty chuffed as I got round in 40-45 mins.

I am now sat on the sofa exercising my biscuit dunking hand.

OP posts:
MrsFC · 05/09/2010 17:07

NO WAY supermassive - I probably clapped you running past! Well done & excellent cause given your history. The last time I ran was just before my BFP, ,I miss it. And I was very jealous going home on the tube looking at everyone with their medals! 40 mins is an excellent time too.

MrM should now be looking after you while you eat all the yummy bars from your goddie bag.

SilverSky · 05/09/2010 18:26

I am pissed off. Me and the dawg were finishing our walk and heading back to the car. We were walking on a lane and this stupid knob of a man had no control of his cocker puppy who came haring over to us, cue my dog getting excited and wanting to accept the invitation to play and started to spin and leap on the lead so I shouted at the knobhead "i don't want to get knocked over as I am pregnant" and the bloke just nods his head and wanders over slowly and eventually retrieves his puppy whilst I am being spun and yanked, whilst I am trying not to trip over the two dogs. IDIOT! Now had I not been on a road I would have let the dog go. Some people are so frigging SELFISH!!!!!!

MrsFC · 05/09/2010 18:53

silver, being from that there London I don't have a dog, but I DO know about men who amble and don't listen. (My first husband was one.) What a nob. I feel your pain. He probably wouldn't give up his seat on a train for you either.

Muser · 05/09/2010 19:12

I hate dog owners like that.

I am just reading a thread in AIBU about whether it's unreasonable to have half a bottle of wine in the pub with your partner while your baby sleeps in the pram next to you. The vast majority of people are saying no, but there's the odd person who is making me gasp.

Personally it sounds like a fab evening to me. I want one of those.
