Scropy, I third that. I had sharp stabby pains for ages and still do occasionally, especially if I get up too quickly. Was it Drom who had the shits for a while inthe early days? I fink so... Try not to worry my luvver but ring doc if it continues.

We've just had our first hippo birthing revision session. Was v good and TG has now realised how defensive and in denial he's been of late. I was really hoping it would help him engage more with the baybee and it seems to have had desired effect - so we are feeling v happy and loved up now. Until the nxt time anyway. Grin

CurlyCasper · 19/09/2010 07:23

agree with the others scorps, I had stabbing pains and ache in lower right abdo throughout pregnancy. And I experience all my period pain on the right. (but baby actually started growing on the left).

MrsFC · 19/09/2010 08:22

carrots I've sent the email, thank you again!

I really think you have a great point about being lucky to have a big brother rather than the other way round, I'm definitely going to start doing that. I've been saying that he'll have someone to side with him in games and how the new baby will just adore him & follow him round, and he really likes the idea of that too. But I really really like your lucky to have a big brother point the best - thanks!!

Pols - I'm v. impressed you got TG to a hypno birthing sesh - the FC was most unimpressed with that idea! Even better to hear he's being lovely again.

Are any of you second timers trying or managed a VBAC? I'd love to hear any advice...

score, I also agree with the others, I had stabby pains too & frightened myself with google, but it was just ligaments stretching & shifting I think. But call the doc if you are still concerned. Or maybe your needles lady xx

CluckyKate · 19/09/2010 08:28

MrsFC - tres important the dads do the hypno thing too....can't be having relaxed Mummy & stressed Daddy, makes for wrong cocktail of birthing vibes [nods]

Scorps - whatever it takes to put your mind at rest. Is all v. scary & confusing first time round Smile

SilverSky · 19/09/2010 09:12

Fanks to all for advice. HI suggested I call the NCT woman for advice! Numbnuts! I called the FAU again and the person on the other end spoke to a dr and eh think it's still to do with sitting on nerves and the numb belly could be cos my tum muscles have finally given in and sucummbed to baby growth! If I am worried I can go in and be monitored. But as I am feeling movement, am not bleeding and my waters have not gone they are happy for me to see how things go overnight and to call back today if I still have worries.

Well 20 mins after calling my tummy tightened back again and has stayed hard ever since. WTF!

Little person is still moving and tum feels normal again so am no going to go in. Chances are that it's just one of those things, another part of being preggo and everyone's different.

scorps when I was about 15 wks something like that I was out shopping and that afternoon nearly all afternoon I was getting short sharp stabbing pains in my right hand side. Mentioned to midwife and she confirmed it was ligaments stretching. Hth. If you are worried and understandably so call your mw.

Muser · 19/09/2010 11:08

Glad it's gone back to normal Silver, pregnancy is just weird.

I am properly back now. Currently going through my bazillion holiday photos and missing the sun. Not missing suncream or mosquito nets though. Luckily for me MrM is considered a truly tasty morsel by the mossies. He has a bazillion bites while I only have two.

It's VAG's due date... do you suppose she's laying a baybee?

Muser · 19/09/2010 19:03

I have just watched Cherry Has a Baby and had to drag MrM through to watch the waterbirth so I could say "I want one like that please". If that is hippo birthing I want me some of it. Does someone still have tapes/a book going spare?

I wonder if VAG is laying a baby. I want her too just so we can do the "Voila, a baby gimlet" thing.

SilverSky · 19/09/2010 19:16

Ta muse. Pregnancy is a major head mess. Always something to bleeding worry about. I could list a thousand things. I also think that as the big day is drawing nearer that I am more paranoid about shiz but need to kick back and reeeeeeeeeeelax. Easier said than done fo' sho'.

Work tmw. Not long and I will be waving them all a big Adios!!!

organiccarrotcake · 19/09/2010 23:41

muser I highly recommend the water birth. Mine wasn't disimilar to that despite being in hopsital.

If anyone's interested I have a Made In Water birth pool for sale for £45 inc shipping.

organiccarrotcake · 19/09/2010 23:43

LOL realise that sounds like "blue really suits you, want to buy a blue dress?" Grin

organiccarrotcake · 19/09/2010 23:45

silver I wonder if bub turned B2B for a while?

Must dig out pump.... tomorrow I will look.

Scorpette · 19/09/2010 23:53

Thanks for putting my mind at ease about left-hand twinging - have had virtually none today. What I do have, however, is the horrible metallic taste in my mouth, bit like I've burnt my mouth with hot soup. And I feel a lot sicker. 5+1 and am walking preggo cliche already (HUZZAH!)!

PS Fingers crossed for VAG 'n' VAGETTE!

SilverSky · 20/09/2010 07:05

rots didn't think of that. Could well have done.

My new ishoo is cos I cannot get comfortable at home. I was sitting on a breakfast bar chair backwards which was ok but the two days later I had problems with my legs or maybe hips. Am not sure. So now whenever I get up from a chair I get really bad pain in the tops of my legs which lasts until I walk it off. Tho walking at that point resembles a hunched crab.

Cos I have given up on sitting on the chair I am laying on my side instead. Now my left hip is giving me jip!! Feels odd. Said to HI that prob gonna end up with bedsores or summat. Plus I have the same ishoo when I get up. My left leg is hardly operational. Up until now have been sleeping ok except now my hip is waking me up!! Argghh. Any tips? Bar removing left hip?

scorpa sicky is good!

PerfectDromedary · 20/09/2010 09:24

VAG! Are you birthing?

PESHes, I have a slight "my diamond shoes are too tight" dilemma. Can those of you who have been through it tell me whether you would have been happy doing a 7 hour flight at 30/31 weeks? TNB and I are trying to decide what kind of lovely holiday we should have before Christmas...options are heading long-haul(ish) for Middle Eastern winter sun or holing up in a nice hotel with log fires in the UK.

Which one would you lot have preferred/found easier at that stage?

Scorps Bit late, as the pulling cramps have gone, but I was almost in tears last weekend from ligaments stretching - it can really hurt.

CurlyCasper · 20/09/2010 09:37

i would certainly have found the UK easier drom - too tired, too hot etc in those final weeks. And you might struggle to get decent travel insurance after 28 weeks. I expect you'd need a doc's note and all sorts. Still, it's an enviable predicament to be in. Perhaps I can take those diamond shoes off your hands? Grin

CurlyCasper · 20/09/2010 09:38

not just easier, actually, but more pleasant!

OkieCokie · 20/09/2010 09:43

Scorps glad the pains have subsided. I spent about 5 hrs in A&E last time worrying about stabbing pains in the right side and it was nothing (went to EPU and they sent me to A&E?!) I was prodded, poked, scanned, prodded, poked etc etc - it turned out to be just one of those random pregnancy things. The menkulling is also heightened pre the 12 week mark which is totally understandable. Always, best to get things checked out if you are ever worried though and IMO the menkulling never stops (even once they are born!)

Silver no idea really all I can think is just you are carrying a bit of weight there now putting pressure on all bits of bod. I sometimes can't sleep on the left anymore as it aches too much and flip over to the right (go on, shoot me!) Maybe some gentle stretching would help - sorry to not be very useful but perhaps it is also another one of those pregnancy things. If you are like me then I think the last 6 weeks are definitely the hardest - I was pretty ok pre 12 weeks but I suffer with all kinds of ishoos towards the end inc cramps, indigestion (always at night), feeling like my bladder will fall out, not being able to walk much, swollen hands and feet, pain in my tummy and the feeling that I have to hold it up all the time and back ache. Are you propping yourself up all around with pillows at night to support the weight rather than having your hip take it all? I need pillows down my back and in front under bump and between legs!

OkieCokie · 20/09/2010 09:57

Drom hmmm, interesting one. I personally think it is not too bad to fly at about 30-31 weeks (I did this time but not quite as far). There are a lot of sunny options which are about 4-5 hours away which may be more comfortable for you. I flew to Russia (economy) at 29 weeks last time and LA (business class but still 12 hours) at 27 weeks, in fact there was an earthquake while I was there measuring 5.2 which was a bit fucking scary but I digress.... You can get insurance to cover you up to 36 weeks here although I probably wouldn't recommend flying that late on. You do need a doctors letter to fly beyond 28 weeks but both airlines I flew with at 30 and 31 weeks this time did not ask for it (but you do need it)

Saying all this, I really did not want to sit out in the sun at 31 weeks. It was just too hot and usually I am a sun worshiper! It was nice to be away and rest but as I love winter and log fires and great pub grub I would probably go for that as the rest would be equally as good without all the hassle! I certainly think getting away somewhere is a must though as you don't know when your next chance will be and it will be a totally different holiday experience from what you are used to!

PerfectDromedary · 20/09/2010 10:11

Interesting - I hadn't even thought that I might not want to sit out in the sunshine! i really love winter in the UK, too, I'm just worried that we'll get a bit claustrophobic if I'm not up for doing very much - while if we're on a beach, it's easier just to lounge around.

Thanks for the link to the insurance peeps, Okie!

organiccarrotcake · 20/09/2010 10:39

drom I flew to Ukraine (Crimea) at 32 weeks (12 hour journey to destination) which wasn't too bad, but the heat was tough. I second the heat being the problem. I was also nervous about going into prem labour out of the country, which in the end wasn't unreasonable as I lost my waters at 36 weeks and had him at 37 (and cas of course was early too, as was ski with the PE).

I did sit on the beach in Crimea but only for LC's sake. It wasn't much fun for me at all.

Climbing a mountain for my bro's wedding which was on top of the mountain was fun though Grin.

silvie You really need my ball Blush. How about an osteopath?

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 20/09/2010 10:44

Hey ladies! Sorry for radio-silence - no news to report beyond being too lazy to do anything at all. Due date came and went, we "celebrated" by going out for pizza and a stroll. I'm finding walking harder every day - and sitting, and doing anything really except lying down....hence why I have just got up and have missed my yoga class. Will have to do dome gentle stretching and breathing later, I def feel better for it.

Glad Scorps pains seem to be one of those things and yay to sicky, metallic taste! Proper preggo stuff.

What shall I do today?

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 20/09/2010 10:54

Camel I flew at 26 weeks and Easyjet jobsworths demanded a gp letter. I said I didn't think I needed one before 28 weeks and they said I should have one anyway. Arses. Anyway, the thought of a holiday sounds lovely, and in the manner of Escape To The Country could I bung in the wild card of the place TSF and I spent our honeymoon? Bellevue Hotel, Gstaad, Switzerland. Not as far, v luxurious, nice spa and plenty of sitting about opps. Actually, I just like to think/talk about it, was the most magical time

Experienced ones, is it normal at this stage to mourn the passing of hours spent with other half doing nothing? I love just hanging out with TSF.

OkieCokie · 20/09/2010 11:04

Ah, yes Vag lying in bed reading the papers on a Sunday, a lesiurely stroll for something to eat, popping to the cinema or out for dinner or just lying around doing nothing. All I can say is make the most of it in these last few days...!

SkiHorseWonAWean · 20/09/2010 11:24

drom For me, the UK or perhaps Montreal/NY/Boston/Halifax if you want a short flight. I would not in a million years chance ending up in some middle-eastern hospital possibly until post-partum. :( Or, as VAG says, what about a drive to the Alps?
