Just a quickie from me too to say I've found the UK Gap site Grin Back later when the kitchen is safe from ds!

GiraffeYoga · 03/10/2010 14:32

Hi everyone.

Glad party was ok Diege.

I know of Sassy susan. Are you saying she has been wrongly acccused of being a troll or really is one? I saw all her posts are deleted.

Hi Ses and Tink and Star

Diege · 03/10/2010 14:43

Hi GYO! What I was meaning to say is that MNHQ has declared that Sassy is a troll and as such have deleted all her posts. In my opinion (and many others)I do believe that this is a mistake as I think her bereavement is genunine and that there's been some terrible muddle up. Hopefully the whole thing will be clarified soon as it's casuing at lot of angt all round as you may have picked up from some of the threads!

It's finally stopped raining - hurrah!

GiraffeYoga · 03/10/2010 14:56

Hi Diege

thanks- what an awful situation for SS if this is a mistake.

Rain and more rain here. Not to mention grumpy small person due to teeth. She has got 3 'fangs' coming at once.

Had some interesting progress with the SG this weekend. Weve also had a potty around for ages and she is now say wee wee and sitting on it- but not producing but its a start :) she also knows when she's pood and comes over for someone to check :) Hmm

Starshinetiger · 05/10/2010 22:53

Very quiet on here this week. Just booking out - off on hols tomorrow. Just finished packing after doing final emails for work (did prioritise by doing my nails at 8.30 so they had time to dry before bed Grin)

will be back in to check up on news when we're back.

Rugbylovingmum · 06/10/2010 08:49

Morning all,

I've been lurking but I never find time to post. C is going through a really clingy stage and wants to be held or is constantly clamped to my leg which makes it difficult to get anything done. DP was a bit hurt as she wouldn't go to him at all and just cried for me if he picked her up Sad. I told him it is just a phase and nothing personal but yesterday she started clinging to him too. Now he can see it isn't fun dropping her at nursery when she is crying and reaching for you but I think he is secretly relieved too Wink. Luckily we know the crying stops quickly (sometimes before the door closes!) and I'm just hoping it doesn't last long.

Oh, I can hear her waking up, better dash....back later.

Rugbylovingmum · 06/10/2010 08:49

PS Have a great hol star Grin

tinkhasboughtoutalltheshops · 06/10/2010 16:35

wow so much tumbleweed
have a goo hol star Grin

rugby that must be frustrating!!

essenceofSES · 06/10/2010 21:19

Rugby - good to hear from you but sorry you've got a velcro baby at the moment. It's really tough but it will pass!

Star - have a great holiday :)

tink - hello! How are you feeling?

GYo - v impressed with DD saying "wee wee" and sitting on the potty! We've not even bought one yet...

Diege - hope all the stuff with the potential troll has calmed down. That sort of thing can get quite nasty.

Had quite a day here which culminated in getting a phone call from the police to check we were ok as they'd had a 999 call from us. I had to apologise as O had been playing with the phone Blush They took all my details but said not to worry as it happens quite a bit Blush

Rugbylovingmum · 06/10/2010 21:27

Hee hee Ses Grin, DD managed to call 999 a few weeks ago too. I didn't even realise she could reach the phone. I was MORTIFIED when I got a call back from the police but the woman was lovely. I had to giggle when she said it was a good thing that DD knew how to dial 999 in an emergency - DD wasn't quite 10 months old at the time Grin.

essenceofSES · 06/10/2010 21:28
Grin O had just fallen and bruised his eye about 10mins before - maybe he thought he needed an ambulance?! How is DD tonight? Fast asleep I hope until morning :0
Rugbylovingmum · 06/10/2010 21:35

Ses - lol at O calling his own ambulance Grin. He clearly already has that male OTT response to illness or bumps and knocks! Has he had man flu yet Grin. DD is in bed and sleeping quietly. Bless her, she is still an early riser - she is usually up before 6am - but she almost always sleeps soundly from 7pm until morning.

essenceofSES · 06/10/2010 21:43

Sounds similar to DS. He's normally asleep about 7.30pm and awake around 6am. I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times I've had to get up to him between those hours in the last 6 months!
No manflu yet - not looking forward to that!

Really pleased that the not feeding to sleep is still going ok too. He still clings on to me as I put him in the cot and screams but within a week, he was asleep within 10mins tonight :)

Rugbylovingmum · 06/10/2010 21:51

That's great, he's doing really well. Our next step is to get rid of her dummy. The plan was only to use it for a few months and only at bedtime but somehow she still has it for all of her naps and at bedtime plus she likes to have it if she is teething or tired or ill or ....... well basically she has it far more often than I'd like so it's time to either limit it to bed or chuck them out. Just can't bring myself to face the tears yet Blush.

Rugbylovingmum · 06/10/2010 21:53

Right, I'm finally finished at work so I'm heading home (I had to come back in for a couple of hours after putting DD to bed Sad). Night night.

essenceofSES · 06/10/2010 21:54

Aww! She's still young yet. I know my SIL told my 2yo nephew that Santa wasa going to take his dummy away last Christmas when he brought his presents - worked wonders!

tinkhasboughtoutalltheshops · 07/10/2010 09:23

morning

hi ses - yep all good here

rugby good luck with dummy

Diege · 07/10/2010 12:17

Hello! Finally got a chance to post - has been so busy at work thatI've not even had time for a lunch break and have had to carry on working when I've got home too Wink
Anyway, wfh today, with ds in cot now, so a few mins peace.
Great going on the sleep SES/RUGBY, though I hope you haven't jinxed yourself there SES Grin. RUGBY, I wouldn't stress too much about the dummy just yet (IMO) - I think dd1 if I remember had one until she was about 2.5, then just lost interest. Also sympathise with the velcro-baby thing!
Enjoy your hols STAR Envy
Hi TINKS, how are things?

Rugbylovingmum · 07/10/2010 13:18

Hi Diege,

I hope you are enjoying your little bit of peace Smile.

I'm a bit paranoid about kids having dummies all the time because my little cousin's speech was very poor when he was about 3 years old and the speech therapist blamed it on him having his dummy constantly in his mouth. They stopped giving it to him and now at 4 his speech is completely normal. He had his dummy in his mouth almost 24 hours a day though and just spoke around it so clearly wasn't speaking properly. It's a bit early to worry about that with DD but she used to only have it for bed and now she wants it all the time and I don't it to become a habit. I think we might try to restrict it to bedtime.

Diege · 07/10/2010 13:59

That's a good idea RUGBY, I understand your concerns. With the dds it was a dummy at night that I was fearful of; if I remember - at one point I was getting up 4/5 times to put it back in. Another friend had 4 or 5 dangling from elastics on the cot Hmm so that there was a chance her baby would be able to grab one and self sooth Hmm. I'm sure you'll be fine Wink

tinkhasboughtoutalltheshops · 07/10/2010 16:46

hi diege - good to hear from you Grin

feel moody here but otherwise fine Grin

essenceofSES · 07/10/2010 20:48

Hello!

I'm sat catching up on soaps as DH is away tonight. DS hardly cried at all when I put him in his cot after his feed tonight - so pleased with how this is going! (Diege - you're right though, I hope I'm not jinxing myself!)

Tink - sorry you're feeling moody. Anything we can help with?

Rugby - how is DD today?

Diege - sounds like work has been quite intense. Is it likely to calm down at all?

I had a lovely phone call with my best friend and her DD earlier. Her DD always calls me "my Sh" and my best friend was asking if they could share me and that I was "her Sh" as well. Her DD replied "no" !!
