congratulations skullbabe. does he have a name? really hope you get to take him home soon.

we have our first thread baby!!

AddictedIsFeelingHappy · 13/10/2010 09:27

fenouille i can also feel her hiccoughs in my bum, dh just looks at me really oddly when i tell him, i'm glad its not only me Grin

Ebb · 13/10/2010 10:38

Congratulations Skullbabe. Grin

Fenouille my baby also has the most violent hiccups. I don't remember feeling them at all with DS but my whole bump moves with this one. It's very odd and quite often painful as she seems to headbutt my bladder with every 'hic'! Hmm

b00kw0rm · 13/10/2010 10:53

Congrats skullbabe- hope you can take your little one home soon!
I had a scan yesterday just to check all is well as that's apparently the protocol in this area for a home birth- everything looked great, but although head only on 50%, both tummy and legs were off the scale and estimated weight (at 36+4) was 7lb 12oz!
Midwife doesn't seem too concerned though and we've been through the homebirth assessment visit this morning, so seems like we're all systems go...
I can also sympathise with lulastic and grinningbee re the building work as our new bathroom still isn't finished and we're having new carpets laid too, so really hoping baby hangs in there for a bit longer Wink
Also, rinny I remember about your driving test being cancelled at short notice and the exact same thing has just happened to me- I've managed to get a cancellation, but am going to be 38 weeks by the day of the test, so hope I'm not pushing it too much! Did you manage to get a test date or have you given up till after baby's arrived?
Phew- sorry for the long post, will try and be a more frequent poster rather than lurker now I'm on maternity leave!

4madboys · 13/10/2010 10:57

ooh our first baby! yay congrats skullbabe Grin

you ladies sure manage to chat loads on here, i just dont feel i get the time and i try and read back and then dont have the time to post and struggle to remember what everyone has said Blush

so today i havent read back, well only the last page, so apologies for that!

all fine here, i went into town the other day and bought some nappies and maternity pads etc so feeling bit more organised now tho loads of baby stuff, car seat, pram etc is still all up in the loft.

going to try and wash some baby clothes this week so that will be another job done.

i am feeling fine, tho rather heavy and tired, no aches or pains or anthing, well other than braxton hicks that give me a rather upset tummy Blush

RINNY i remember you saying about home birth? its worht mentioning to your midwife just in case and have you thought about the birthing centre in Eye, its called the gilchrist birthing centre? and is about half hour drive from norwich, another place worth thinking about? if you google it you will find their phone number :)

right well i need to get on and tidy up, have a shower, hardly done anythign today, as dp did the school run and he is now at work, its just me and ds4 and as we have all had colds am having a quiet day :)

good luck to mumcha for induction at the weekend! xxx

Fenouille · 13/10/2010 11:14

Addicted DH did give me a Hmm when I mentioned it to him last night!

Ebb Mine hiccupped its way through my last MW appointment - she laughed and said it's a good sign and bump is obviously a vital baby :) I have to admit I don't particularly enjoy them though, what with bump, bladder and now bum all jiggling in time Grin

4Mad I know, I feel so decadent posting during the day.

lainey1981 · 13/10/2010 11:45

wow a baby already -congrats skullbabe hope you are both well and you are both home soon Grin
just had my 34 week midwife appt, and turned into a bit of a mammoth one:
my blood pressure was high for me 135/70 (usually 115/70)
i have ++ protein in my urine
also have a UTI
and thrush Blush which I knew about
coupled with the fact that have been seeing gold sparkles when I stand up over the last few days, I have been referred to obstetrician at BP clinic next week and had urine and bloods sent to lab to rule out pre eclampsia Sad. have to say it has got me a bit worried - will get results monday or tuesday so HTH
on the plus side midwife is pushing for urgent physio referral for SPD.Smile
hope everyone else is well? am off for a lie down now I am a lady of leisure

4madboys · 13/10/2010 11:57

oh lainey i hope everything is ok, fingers crossed xx

fenouille, i know i have showered and tidied up a bit but am still not dressed Blush ds4 is highly entertained by a mr potato head i bought him the other day so i am pottering about, i was thinking about what i need for birth (home birth hopefully) and the days after, have bought nappies and maternity pads after midwife said baby is head down and very low at last appointment! we have baby clothes (LOADS) car seat, pram etc still in the loft...... i also have muslin cloths, need to go and get maternity/nursing bras at some point... what else do i need? brain dead moment, i should have it all sorted as i am on no 5!

oh and my hv just called, havent seen her since ds4's 2 yr check? but she is coming round in a fortnight to give me my red book and check all is ok etc, as they do a home visit before the baby is born now! its all starting to seem rather real...... Shock

grinningbee · 13/10/2010 12:02

Congratulations Skullbabe hope you get the little guy home soon.

Grin
Rinnyx · 13/10/2010 12:18

Big congrats Skullbabe best wishes to you and your LO :)

b00kw0rm no driving test for me as all the test dates that came up was for November and the next lot free are in Feb, can you believe it, a average of a 16 week wait for tests in Norwich now, not impressed me or my instructor Angry so I get to finally go to test about 6 month after I should of first gone, stopped lessons now and going to take them up again to refresh in the new year.
Good luck to you on yours :)

Thanks 4madboys I will ask my midwife about it when I see her Tuesday.
I just hope the is room for me at the hospital when DS wants to turn up tho he better not come out til Wednesday onwards, my pram and carseat does not arrive til Monday

hmmSleep · 13/10/2010 12:26

Skullbabe! How exciting Grin, 4lb, he must be so tiny and cute.

Have had the heavy pushing down feeling for a week now, bump has definitely dropped and head is fully engaged so I guess it's that, our babies are getting into position! Finding it really hard to wee, it's as if the babies head is blocking the way.

cluelessnchaos · 13/10/2010 13:06

Hope you are ok lainey, I am mega hormonal today, keep bursting into tears. I have a new sleep complaint, it's the sound of my pelvic bones cracking when I turn, it makes me really squeamish and lightbheaded, it makes me shiver just thinking about it, bleugh. Has anyone else had it or am I weird? I haven't had it with the last three.

PrivetDancer · 13/10/2010 13:08

congrats skullbabe! hope he is home with you soon.

I'm jealous of those of you who are nesting - no urges here whatsoever, and didn't happen last time either! I guess we're doomed to live forever in light (but homely) squalor.

Did finally get the baby clothes out of the loft and wash them - I thought we'd always been fairly unisex with DD, but literally EVERYTHING is pink! So had a quick dash to mothercare to get some none pink items as we have no idea whatsoever if this is going to be a boy or a girl.

Also had a flu jab on Monday, was umming and erring on whether to bother but they were doing them at work so I had it done. Didn't even hurt going in and no side effects, so quite glad I did now.

In the 'not to share with real life people' category, DD was examining the bump the other day and announced there were dog hairs on it. I haven't been able to see the underside of it for sometime now, but it must be time to get the mirror out and do a bit of epilating!!

balijay · 13/10/2010 14:05

Privet Grin at the dog hairs, that is hilarious! I am pretty sure you are not the only one Blush

Samraves · 13/10/2010 16:48

Congratulations skullbabe! So exciting that babies are starting to be born. I am sure that mine will try and hold on till December!

I am starting to feel a bit nervous, only two more days of work before my maternity leave begins! I have decided that once I am on maternity leave I will start to get the washing done - I have loads and loads of cute clothes thanks to the donations of three mates and my mum. I also suppose I should start organising stuff like packing my hospital bag and getting the nursery done...

I have put a waterproof sheet on the bed Confused and bought some big pad things to put on the car seat - but haven't started using them - feel a bit off about it. Has anyone else started doing this? I had heard that if your waters break on the car seat it can rot it, and we have only just got a new car...

Hope everyone else is doing well and starting to have time to relax

S x

sarahbuff · 13/10/2010 17:32

Congrats to skullbabe on your new DS! Hope you and he are well despite the surprise! I'm counting down the weeks (4 to go), gas&air delivery is booked for a week from today and presentation scan the following day (apparently standard in this area for homebirths, just to confirm baby isn't breech). Just have to wait now! sigh :)

blondecat · 13/10/2010 18:27

Need to mope

Crying alone in a cafe
Just been given a c section date
LO may still turn but suddenly it all feels so real

It's not that I am opposed to c sections. Just that I suddenly feel so out of control

She has 16 more days to turn on her own. Then it's scan, consultant, maybe ECV and the section.

Off to stick bottom in the air
Book acupuncture
Hypnosis turning thingie

Basically anything to feel I am doing something

cluelessnchaos · 13/10/2010 18:51

Oh blondecat poor you, I have heard acupuncture can do the trick

AddictedIsFeelingHappy · 13/10/2010 19:53

blondecat i'm sorry you were crying alone in a cafe, if its any help when my mum had my sister (who is now 5 months old) she turned right at the last minute it was the day she went to have the scan mum said she could feel her move all the way around. hopefully your little one will turn in the next 16 days.

does your kitchen flor need scrubbing? thats a great way to have your bum in the air for hours and you actually achieve something at the end of it!

umf · 13/10/2010 19:53

blondecat oh, you poor thing!

mine was breech until about 3 weeks ago. i tried lying extremely uncomfortably with knees on sofa and head near floor, supported on aching arms for as long as possible. did it ?3 times when he was active, and it worked. got DH to talk to bottom of bump at same time, once. felt extremely silly.

i looked at the spinningbabies website to try to find out exactly what i should do, but found it v hard to navigate, so that was nearest approximation. but then he may just have been ready to turn.

last time there was 1 woman out of the 10 in my nct group who had a planned c-section for breech, and she was very pleased with it in the end. her recovery was really much better than ours - some very difficult labours in the group.

so this time if growth scan says baby's head is substantially bigger than DS1's was, i'll be opting for planned section rather than risking emergency section.

tiany · 13/10/2010 21:07

skullbabe thats so wonderful.. congrats!!!!

Blondecat u have time yet, fingers crossed will turn around

Fenouille · 13/10/2010 21:46

Oh blondecat, I've got everything crossed that she'll turn.

blondecat · 13/10/2010 21:51

cluelesschaos, tiany, umf, addicted, tiany Thank you - it's god not to feel so alone. DH was on the phone on his way to the airport and talked me through the positives. He's thrilled that he can schedule the birth into his diary - he may actually be disappointed if LO turns. And my big sister tells me many women dearly wish to have c-sections, so not all negative.

Looking at SpinningBabies site and finding it a bit confusing as well, umf

On a happier note - will we be starting a babies' arrived tracker. Does it happen here or on the stats thread? It feels so early and yet with skullbabe popped (congratulations!!) it seems like time. Has anyone done this before? (I mean birth and mumsnet)

Pidgin · 14/10/2010 08:41

Congratulations skullbabe! Lovely to have our first November thread baby.

blondecat - poor you. The uncertainty must be horrible but as others have said there is plenty of time for the baby to turn, and if not, a planned CS is not so bad - at least you will be prepared for it?

Fingers crossed for your tests lainey, and hope you get the physio appt soon.

I am 37 weeks tomorrow ... not felt any dropping or anything yet but I guess it can happen later with a first baby? Starting to feel just about ready now and will go mad with waiting if he's overdue so it's more raspberry leaf tea for me...

lainey1981 · 14/10/2010 09:54

blondecat -fingers crossed LO turns, keep that bum up Smile

thanks everyone, i'll keep you posted on test results
