Another one guilty of checking in to see if anyone has popped yet :)

Seems surreal to think were at this stage already!! Feels just weeks ago I joined mumsnet and found all you lovely people!! Think it seemed more real in the early days and still surprise myself at times to think that my Ickle baby is due in 3 weeks!! Soooo excited when it does sink in tho!! Grin

Went to midwife last week but saw one I haven't seen before....& she wasn't very nice!! Was told at the previous appointment to write my birth plan, so told this one I had, and was told they don't have time to read them anymore!!! Well thanks then.....not
Important hey?!! Also asked where the delivery entrance for the hospital was having never needed to go there before, and got a bit of a look as if i was stupid! Explained that as they no longer offer tours of the delivery unit....how was i supposed to know?! I then went out to make another appointment as instructed, and was told they are fully booked! Can't help but feel the maternity budgets ate being cut just a wee bit too much!
Sorry moan over!!

Feel for you having to have bathroom done now grinningbee think I would go slightly mad!

Hope your still hanging in there loopy!

Sorry for missing anything, off for a natter now and to do some more baking :)

Pidgin · 12/10/2010 10:52

umf I am sooo impressed you are still cycling. I barely have the physical coordination to walk down a corridor these days.

Also looking forward to hearing who goes first!

I still have a couple of weeks to work before mat leave starts, am wishing I was off already... I am keeping a list of cleaning jobs to do which is growing and growing. Although as it includes things like 'dust living room skirting boards', I think it might not all get done... Grin

Fenouille · 12/10/2010 10:52

Addicted @ 10:05: kawaiiko, hmmsleep and Fenouille should be first as they are due at the end of october, not long to go now.

Shock

La la la, I can't hear you

Grinning I feel for you - we wanted to redo our bathroom this summer but due to delays in getting material etc. we only started last weekend. At least we have a separate toilet but no shower, only kitchen sink for washing... I have given very stern instructions to bump to hang on in there for another couple of weeks Grin

Loooopy · 12/10/2010 12:29

hi all...well i saw a midwife today, another new one so the 4th one i've seen since the start of pg, she was very nice indeed, told her what happened from thurs night-sunday, and she checked me and bump over, wee, blood pressure, his size and heart beat are all ok, but she said he might be early given that plug has gone, but she said not to worry as he is in a good position, not back to back, not breech, head is in pelvis area although from what she could feel, she thinks he hasn't engaged yet. She said if he hangs in there until a week on Saturday then all systems go for a home birth and she was shocked that i haven't had a midwife visit my house yet, so she has left a message for her to visit me next week and to bring a home birth kit with her, as long as bump doesn't come before then :)

Feel very relieved now, although now wishing i hadn't spent most of Sunday packing a hospital bag (well bags!) just in case!!

PS Rinny if you are even considering having a home birth, you need to book one asap so that they can do a home visit and leave a birth kit with you - if you change your mind and go to hospital that is fine, but from what i've been told, you can't say you are having a hospital birth and then change your mind, they need to be prepared in advance...

hmmSleep · 12/10/2010 13:21

Went to get myself measured for a nursing bra today in a specialised bra fitting shop. I've been wearing a 34C, but it would seem I'm actually a 32E, Shock. The lady fitting me was rather shocked when I told her I've been wearing the same size bra since the age of 13, not thinking my body might have changed a bit 22 years and 2 children later.

Pidgin the nesting instinct kicked in big time here over the weekend, I bought a carpet cleaner and cleaned all the downstairs carpets! My Mum has said she'll come this weekend and clean the entire house for me Blush Grin.

Addicted, this is the longest I've ever been pregnant as Dc and Ds were both early, but after a few twinges last week everything feels rather comfy and settled down there now, so think I'll last a bit longer yet. Getting lots of 'Ooh,any day now' comments from strangers now though, think I'm looking rather weeble like! I think mumcha is getting induced this weekend, so my money's on her!

OP posts:
grinningbee · 12/10/2010 13:32

Hmmsleep I feel like a weeble too (I had some of them when I was little!) I definitely don't walk anymore, I weeble.

So, the kitchen guys have been, and it's looking as though it will be early November. Great. They even asked me again to promise I won't have the baby early!!! Guess I'll be spending my 40th birthday weeing in a flaming bucket. Not impressed.

Mind you, dd had the last laugh. I had some washing on the airer in the kitchen which we were in talking about the work, when she goes and gets the largest pair of bridget jones knickers off of the line and puts them over her head. In front of everyone. Thanks Amy!

Ebb · 12/10/2010 14:08

I saw the MW this morning. I found it a bit weird that she didn't introduce herself and tell me her name as she's not one I've seen before. Baby is measuring spot on dates and is head down but still 'free'. Am I the only one who goes to appointments hoping to be told I'm fully engaged, at least 8cms dilated and will probably pop the baby out in the next couple of hours? Grin At least my swab results all came back clear so MW agreed it's probably just my plug going slowly. Nice! Had more bloods done so hopefully platelets will be ok. Next appointment is at 38+3. If I get there, it'll be weird as Ds arrived at 38wks.

Grinningbee glad your scan went well.

Babybean Did you have your scan at S.M? The delivery suite is at the end of the road where the antenatal clinic is ( where you have your scans ) by the roundabout. The delivery suite is right infront of you and the carpark is to the right of the roundabout. Parking is pretty bad during the day.

AddictedIsFeelingHappy · 12/10/2010 14:15

Grin grinning bee, but rubbish about the work being done so close to due day.

I was telling dh that if you cut my legs off i would be a weeble, i already have to rock backwards and forwards to get the momentum going before i can stand up! Blush

I forgot mumcha was being induced, its getting all too real now!

Vix7 · 12/10/2010 14:41

kawaiiko, hmmsleep and Fenouille should be first as they are due at the end of october, not long to go now.

me too. due end oct but was kinda hoping to pop 10/10/10. but im still here so obviously that didn't happen. now hoping bub will hang in there till 20/10/2010! :D

really shld get off my arse and make a trip down town to get some nursing bras but errr.....no energy to do so? just the thought of the tube journey in and out is enough to put me off.

i get to do MORE blood tests! yay! (not!)
dr said my RBC are unusually large? dunno what that means. been quite naughty and not taking the calcium/iron/prenatal vits regularly so suspect low folate/iron/calcium/b12 levels have something to do with it. sigh...

Rinnyx · 12/10/2010 14:59

Thanks for the input Loooopy I dont really want a HB but its just cause people have said they have been turned away due to the hospital being full and I dont fancy going on a mad car ride across Norfolk to find one that is free.

DP still keeps saying DS will be here next week but I dont know he is still so active tho I think he has dropped as school run is even harder now and people pointed out today I am starting to waddle big time Blush

funbun · 12/10/2010 15:39

Have not been on for ages. Glad to see all well. Still at work for another week and a half.

Defo nesting - love love ,love the smell of cleaning products. Just like last time - find myself sniffing Fairy liquid and kitchen cleaner and shower gels. Anyone else?

comtessa · 12/10/2010 15:59

DP still keeps saying DS will be here next week but I dont know he is still so active

Um, so less activity is a sign of things moving on? Hmm, LO definitely moving less today, still moving enough, but smaller movements. And she's so low that I can't sit on a regular chair without sitting in a very unladylike manner, legs wide apart. Not due until 27th November but suspect (hope) she may arrive a little before that...

Must pack hospital bag, and buy moses basket, and put pram together, and buy nappies, and babygrows, and wipes and, and, and, oh crikey.

harmonyb23 · 12/10/2010 16:24

Hey everyone! Had my midwife appointment this morning and have been told I am 1/5 engaged. Bump is measuring perfect for dates and heard LO's heartbeat. Really excited now, only 5 weeks to go!

Have been suffering the last couple of days with painful ankles, which were brought on by a long walk on Sunday (think I may have overdone it) they seem to be getting better now though!

Was also told that LO is back to back so having to make sure to sit in different positions to try and make him turn round, anyone know any ones that are comfortable? I just find that sitting with my knees lower than my pelvis and with my trunk forward slightly makes my back hurt!!! Sad

Have washed all the baby's clothes now and have packed my hospital bag. Is it really weird that I am excited about going into labour and having the baby? Confused Just can't wait to meet little man now!!! Grin

Rinnyx · 12/10/2010 16:27

comtessa I'm not 100% sure but thats just my gut feeling or it could be that he still has so much room as bump was measuring about a month behind at my 34 week app, will see what the MW says when I see her next Tuesday.
He is a night owl tho like his dad, soon as its 10pm he's like 'yay time to get active, stick my bum out and more it from left to right along mummys ribs and add afew Bruce Lee movements in there just for the hell of it' Grin

umf · 12/10/2010 18:10

Wow, busy Tuesday!

Nonono I am not at all fit! I pant from walking upstairs! I only cycle cos it's actually less effort than walking. Getting on is a little bit difficult cos have to squeeze tummy past handlebars, but then it's fine. It's completely flat where we live, so everyone uses bikes. For longer journeys when there's parking I drive now.

Saw midwife today for 34 wk check (Tues seems to be midwife day!). All fine, inc GTT and bloods, but bump is big and she thinks baby feels big too. So do I, for what it's worth. I held friend's 2.4kg baby last week and was quite sure the one in my tum feels bigger.

So referred for growth scan, in case might want induction at eg 40 weeks instead of 40+12. But DS1 came at 39 weeks and was already 4kg, so I don't really expect to go to 40 anyway.

Referrals for growth scans in 3rd trim seem v common now, if this thread anything to go by.

Nesting like a crazy loon. Never thought this kind of domestic fervour could attack me. But just can't bear those untidy cupboards. They prey on my mind.

CardiCorgi · 12/10/2010 19:42

Not long now, everyone.

Not sure if it is nesting, but after I had finished my last piece of deadline work this afternoon, I felt the need to tidy up 8 year´s worth of accumulated paperwork in my office. Unbelivable what crap I had not get rid of before. Anyway, it's all spick and span now.

Is anyone else getting a sinking feeling in their pelvis? Hard to describe, but as though everything there has got heavier. I also need the loo all the time.

tiany · 12/10/2010 22:06

I am definitely in organisation mode..not just cleaning but feel all my paperwork needs to be sorted asap... however am often too knackered by the end of the day to get to it :)

harmony... have been told lying in on left side and also just getting down on all fours should help baby into best position?...my baby also back to back but the doc told me will keep moving around for the next few wks anyway.. at least its head down, which hopefully wont change!

lulastic · 12/10/2010 22:45

Hey Loopy, awesome that you weren't in early labour, really thought you were going to have it for a while there!
umf, I too am still cycling (35+5) and find it sooo much easier then walking, walking just seems to pull all sorts of muscles. I get a few funny looks (mind you this is central London) and one man has even told me off. Hmm
cardicorgi I was coming online to ask the same thing! I feel so heavy down there, like it is aaaalll happening. I can suddenly see why people get it into their heads that it is coming early and then moan that it is late. I feel like it could be anytime now, with all that action.
And grinningbee - totally empathise. We have got carpet going down throughout the upstairs and plastering going on all through the halls and ceilings. I am really happy it is getting done but if I go into labour while the house is upside down I'll be gutted!

blondecat · 12/10/2010 22:57

Are we popping?

Not here. Still another 6 weeks to go and ppssibly thanks to being breech the LO has been giving me a lot of breathing space. No pressure down there either.

In fact I am getting worried and will hassle doctor tomorrow to thoroughly check she is OK. He never measures the bump - what if she is not growing! One of the NCT group is having growth scans every 2 weeks and he just looks at me. But ok maybe I am just panicking.

Blush

looopyglad the LO is sticking it out for a bit longer. Maybe in a few weeks we will all be wishing that they Move on but for the moment I think it's good they are safe and snuggly inside.

I think it will be a long 6 weeks for me. I am impatient by nature and quite late on our thread's due date counter.

The LO just woke up. Off to dop the turning exercises

Take care and goodnight everyone

skullbabe · 13/10/2010 07:12

hello everyone - longterm lurker here! I took annual leave last week at 34 weeks because I was finding work too tiring. Officially my maternity leave is due to start next week. Anyway - just to let you all know - at 34 weeks plus 4 - just after our first antenatal class - before I had even got ANYTHING ready .......my little son was born at 2227 hrs weight 4 lbs Grin Shock! He's an adorable little baby whose home is currently the NICU - but he's getting stronger and hopefully I'll be able to take my surprise son home soon!

Wallace · 13/10/2010 07:38

Congratualtions skullbabe!!!

cluelessnchaos · 13/10/2010 08:29

Wow skullbabe, what a surprise for you congratulations and I hope you get him home soon

Mibby · 13/10/2010 08:42

Congratulations Skullbabe Hope you get him home soon :)

We had a slight panic here yesterday, strong cramps with rock hard bump started about 2.30, rang DH and hospital, got all excited then.......nothing. Fizzled out and had stopped completely by 7pm :(

umf · 13/10/2010 08:44

Congratulations skullbabe!!! How is the poppet doing? Hope you're being well looked after too. Does he have a name yet?

Fenouille · 13/10/2010 09:22

Congratulations Skullbabe, hope you're both doing well :)

Cardi I too have that sinking feeling and it's starting to be uncomfortable if I move my legs sideways (like to cross them, or step over something). It feels like my pelvis is splitting in half. Booo.

On the plus (?) side, whenever the bump gets hiccoughs I can now feel them through my bum as well as the top of my bump! Grin
