Zinnia,
You just freaked me out, I totally forgot that a week before I knew my son was talking about his brother or sister!!!

ahhhh!

IheartRPatz · 20/09/2010 13:12

I have booked myself in for a private scan, it is on Wednesday (rather, waiting to hear from them, had originally booked it for next Mon when I'll be 7+1, but DH has said to do it Wednesday instead, so just waiting to hear from the clinic. Not sure whether we'll get any difinitive answers on Wednesday as I think its possible a heartbeat wont show so early? Hopefully will know more then though.
Ref children saying things, the first time I was pregnant, before I found out, my god-daughter pointed at my stomach and said "oh, baby" which made me giggle. A week or so before I found out this time, DD giggled and said there was a baby in my tummy. Freaky!

southpacificfish · 20/09/2010 13:17

Don't we have perceptive children! lol.

Thought I'd been much improved on the sickness front but this morning have woken up and vomited until about 11am. Have just made lunch for DD through gritted teeth and managed a piece of toast and some lucozade but feel hellish! Now feel like I'm being a terrible mother as have had DD plonked in front of Cbeebies most of the day while I've had my head down the loo.

Tinwe Don't feel you need to be brave about morning sickness, it's just awful - especially if you just feel sick and can't actually throw up!

anyone with sore boobs Mine were dreadful with first pg but then they also went from an A cup to a DD so there was quite some growing to do! After birth of DD they only went down one cupsize and don't hurt as much with this pg so I guess they just don't have as much growing to do this time??? They are tender but not unbearable like last time.

Tinwe · 20/09/2010 13:18

Hope you do get an answer IheartRPatz - at what stage can you normally expect to get a definite result?

IheartRPatz · 20/09/2010 13:22

I thought heartbeat was 7-9 weeks though I may be wrong?

Tinwe · 20/09/2010 13:23

Thanks SouthPacificFish - can't be great actually throwing up either! I'm sure your DD will understand and fingers crossed it won't be long. As this is my first I hadn't really appreciated how dibillitating these first 3 months are... thought it was just a few times in the morning over the first couple of weeks! I will be much more sympathetic when I hear of someone suffering next time.

Tinwe · 20/09/2010 13:28

Hi

Just found this online on "pregnant:the bump"

Re: When will I see baby's heartbeat on the ultrasound?

This varies from woman to woman, but in general, the heart beat should be visible on an ultrasound by the sixth week of pregnancy. It?ll look something like a little flicker in your baby?s chest, if the ultrasound actually picks it up. But if you?ve reached your sixth week and you still haven?t seen the heartbeat, don?t worry just yet. Sometimes docs miscalculate just how far along you are, and you may have to wait another three to five days to see anything. You?ll be surprised what a difference just a few days can make!

southpacificfish · 20/09/2010 13:35

Tinwe first 3 months can be absolutely horrific! lol but usually all those all those awful symptons do go by 12 weeks, which means I've only got to put up with this for another 4 weeks - about the same as you I think?

Tinwe · 20/09/2010 13:47

Yeah, just checked and you're due the day before me Grin... 4 weeks feels like a long time right now tho'! I'm hoping I won't be so wussy about the birth, I've normally got quite a high pain threshold (have my fillings done without anaesthetic)!

southpacificfish · 20/09/2010 13:58

Tinwe lol re fillings - I'm in my 5th year of dental work and nearly finished now and thought I was quite good with pain! Can't lie to you, giving birth hurts a lot but as baby just has to come out somehow you get through it any way you can. I had an epidural in the end last time and it was heavenly - would have married the anaesthetist!

My big sister's had 5 pregnancies (long time ago as she's a lot older than me) and keeps going on about the beauty of pregnancy, how wonderful it is and how she loved being pregnant. She lent me her much loved pregnancy book with VERY graphic pictures, thinking I'd be pleased to see a very 70's photo of a hairy woman with big glasses having an internal exam and a detailed photo of the gory bit of birth. A very sweet idea but while I'm already feeling sick it didn't help! I can't wait to get though this stage and start to enjoy it before it gets gruesome!

zinnia · 20/09/2010 16:22

Qwerty Grin

Am feeling like utter sh*te today, no vomming but feeling really nauseous all day. This is much worse than last time - back then I just started feeling faint if I had a late lunch so all I had to do was eat and bingo, felt fine again. Not so now [self-pitying emoticon]. Still eating for Britain, of course, just in case it helps!

QwertyQueen · 20/09/2010 18:46

Lol @ Tinwe's description of the hairy lady -eeeeuuuuw!

I have just had a hugely wobbly - fighting with everyone.... bloody hormones.
sigh

Yorkstar, my boobs also aren't sore.... but I guess there is time eh?

Good luck, Wobblecatcher, good to have a plan in place

poppytosh · 20/09/2010 19:08

Hello, I have been a lurker for a while but thought I would officially join in!! Expecting my first, due the 10th May. Slightly shocked as it was with our first official month of TTC! So far have incredibly sore boobs and so tired but luckily not much sickness (for now!!) Def strangest thing has been bursting into tears when my lunch didn't taste as nice as the day before!! Much to my DH amusement!! Roll on the next 7 months!! Smile

LoobyLou33 · 20/09/2010 19:11

Hiya all, one more workday down, phew! It's hard going isn't it? Sounds like a lot of us are suffering with the nausea. Really hanging out for a week 12 transformation...

A tip for those feeling bloated/bumpy already, I bought some maternity trousers in Debenhams yesterday (where I live most shops don't do maternity, even M&S!)

They still had a sale and I got pair of £32 Red Herring jeans for £16, they're actually really nice jeans even if there's a stretchy bit on the pockets! I don't know if it'll be the same where you all live but they had loads of sizes at this store - plus new clothes too of course. Grin

I'd got to the stage of only having 3 work trousers I could fit in to so it was a bit desperate, what with having lost the will to do all things household including washing!

Thanks all for the advice about the brown stuff, much appreciated.

cowboylover · 20/09/2010 19:19

I have been struggling to find trousers that fit me at the moment. Im not a small girl at size 22 and find it hard to get nice jeans anyway. Anyone spotted any nice ones out there or in the same predicament? I dont want another 8 months in leggins x

IheartRPatz · 20/09/2010 19:50

RE morning sickness... I didn't get it last time until I was about 10 weeks gone, and then I had it until the day she was born, grrr. I actually was two stone lighter the day after having her than before I fell pregnant!

I'm raging today, and hot... hot not in a good way :(

Tiggly · 20/09/2010 20:10

Hi cowboylover, I am the same size as you and I am not looking forward to shopping for maternity trousers etc. I have a uniform in work which has an elasticated waste band on the trousers, but the dress I bought to wear should I ever need it, was leant to a colleague who never returned it despite asking her directly and emailing / messaging. Our trust are hopeless at providing uniforms for pregnant staff so I am also not looking forward to requesting a larger uniform either! Baby will probably be here before I actually get it!! If you do find any size 22 trousers then keep me posted!!

IheartRPatz · 20/09/2010 20:17

I got a few pairs of maternity trousers from asda last time.

fingers crossed for you loopymumsy that all goes well for you x

IheartRPatz · 20/09/2010 20:25

I was so hot last night, so I threw the covers off, and then I was freezing, but the minute I put anything over me, I was roasting.
Feeling overly emotional too.

janesaddictiontomarmite · 20/09/2010 20:28

I love these stories of DCs knowing their mums are pregnant before they do - brilliant.

Tinwe - poor you having to look at that book with MS, no one deserves that!

Love that people are shopping for maternity clothes, makes me feel better about my planned trip to the shops at the weekend - definitely need trousers, jeans and something to contain my ridiculous boobs.
