Hello All,

Welcome to more newbies.

Well, I had routine appt with Dr yday for another reason and mentioned I was pg. Lovely chap as usual. Talked about post 35-pregnancy, but more positive than negatives. He just wanted me to book to see MW at 8 weeks rather than 10 to make sure scan done in time.

Looby - all you really need to do is tell the Dr. They will ask you about a) folic acid b) your alcohol/fags/drug use (charming!) but mostly just give you the ok to book in with the MW, and answer specific questions you have.

Crisp eaters - don't worry! With both pregnancies, ready salted (Walkers only) were part of my staple diet: recommended, along with original Coke (not diet) by the hospital. As an alternative to drip feeding, I'd go with doing whatever you need to do to not be sick!

With this one, I feel more sick in the evening which is a surprise. Just not very hungry...yet.

South Pacific - life with a toddler is way more tiring than working, pregnant or not! I go to work for a rest - and to go to the toilet alone.

Yorkstar - I too bled at about 6 weeks. No explanation. Two health babies. As everyone says, it is more likely to be nothing than something.

Junebug and others - 2 under 2 is great. Hard work at times but they have the best relationship. Survived pregnancy with DD1 because, helpfully due to age gap, DS1 still napped. And I delegated all nappy duties to DH! With this pg, although DS now at sch, DD1 not napping so I suspect Cbeebies will be deployed at opportune moments.

Hi everyone Smile

Another one here to join if I may? Due on the 15th May, but already know it will be a c-section, so maybe taken in a week early. Already have a son of 6 & a little girl of 11 monthes. The pregnancy was a bit of a shock as we werent having anymore, but pretty happy now that we are. Also a 35+ (38)
Not sure how im going to cope with 2 so close together!
Feeling very hungry & tired, but not much else yet.

IheartRPatz · 15/09/2010 21:19

I am feeling exhausted!
Only DH & a friend know, and all you people on here Grin. I am still feeling a bit stressed, as I still had the odd bit of blood, its brown and nothing heavy at all, not having to wear pads or anything. Just panicking! I did bleed when pregnant with DD, but that was further along.
I rang and put my name down for joining up with the midwife, hopefully she'll give me a call before Friday to get a booking in appointment sorted, I cant remember how it all happens, it seems like a million years ago since I was having DD!

MrsChemist · 15/09/2010 21:54

yorkstar hope everything is ok, and the scan shows that all is well. Fingers crossed for you.

Got my blood test results back today. HCG is still rising, but slowly. It's in the 7000s now. The nurse told me my progesterone levels as well. They are 51.5. Apparently that's normal/a bit high. I think.

So, they still don't know what's going on. The bleeding has stopped though.

I have another scan and more blood tests booked for Sunday. More waiting. The nurse assured me that it sometimes take a while to diagnose what's going on. I hate all this waiting. I hope everything is ok Sad

newyearsday · 15/09/2010 22:12

Hello, I'm very happy to be here! Smile

We've been ttc for 18mths and I was due to have surgery on a small fibroid in October, so this is a wonderful, welcome surprise. My date is 15th May.

I'm getting lots of reassuring symptoms: nausea getting worse by the day, sore boobs, tired, hungry, bloated, emotional, irrational...I'm also getting twinges, aches and sharp pains which is apparently normal but I've been a bit worried so we held off telling many people just yet. It's nice to have a little secret.

Wishing everyone a happy & healthy pregnancy x

newyearsday · 15/09/2010 22:16

Sorry, x post. Good luck mrschemist and Iheart hope everything goes ok x

Yorkstar · 16/09/2010 08:31

Good luck today mummywilliams i know what you mean about not wanting to look at the screen though. What time is your scan?

Mrschemist how frustrating that you have to wait even longer for a conclusive answer. Thinking of you.

Welcome to all the newcomers too. Congratulations :)

Well no more brown blood overnight but don't feel pregnant anymore :( Symptoms have eased and my breasts have never been sore. Everything is telling me that i have suffered a mmc and i think the scan will confirm tomorrow. Just got to get through today and tonight and then at least i will know. Still feel like period is coming at any minute. Thanks for all lovely messages of support.

MrsChemist · 16/09/2010 08:46

Good luck todayfor your scan mummywilliams fingers crossed xx

Hope everything is ok with you at the scan tomorrow yorkstar

Purplebuns · 16/09/2010 08:53

Mummywilliams Good Luck for today! And Yorkstar tomorrow.

MrsChemist Sorry to hear that, at least you will know soon one way or another.

I have my booking in visit this am at 9.50, do I need to take any wee with me as my Doc did give me a tube? Confused

I don't think I did last time, but it is something you get used to having wee in your bag Wink

I hope some of us are feeling better, I am not as symptomatic as last time so I am slightly worried that there won't be anything when I have my scan! I do feel tired and hungrier than normal, but I haven't been as grouchy recently which is a real classic symptom for me!

Hatstuff · 16/09/2010 10:12

Thinking of you Mummywilliams for your scan today and Yorkstar tomorrow. The waiting must be tough MrsChemist hopefully you'll know more soon.

I still don't have any real pregnancy symptoms - am hoping that they just haven't started yet/am going to get an easy ride of it, rather than anything else.

Hope everyone else is doing ok. Love the strange food consumption!

zinnia · 16/09/2010 11:37

Sorry to hear there are so many of us with anxieties at the moment - thinking of you all and keeping everything crossed.

Purplebuns I was plagued with worry that I didn't have any symptoms until this week (we're on similar schedules I think), but now they have kicked in with a vengeance. Having said that I am Envy that you have a booking appt today, know I'll have to wait till at least 12 weeks for mine. Round here they ignore you completely for the first trimester unless you have any history (in which case to be fair they are all over it).

So Hatstuff I hope your easy ride continues, but don't count on it!

Now getting nausea too which I didn't with the last one. Just what I need with a toddler and a full time job.

southpacificfish · 16/09/2010 12:06

Just a helpful note to anyone who is exhausted and sick - I started taking Vitabiotics Pregnacare Plus yesterday (folic acid, vit D and omega3 etc) and today have had no sickness. After taking tablets yesterday I perked right up and didn't feel tired anymore and same today. Think they have given me a real boost.

Yorkstar good luck tomorrow, hope it's all good news but we're all here for you whatever the outcome.

Midwife phoned this morning to make an appt and it was the one I saw after having DD and didn't get on with very well. She sadly talked over me all the time and didn't listen and this morning I told her 3 times how old DD is. Anyone else have a clash with their MW? To be fair all the others I have seen I have really liked.

Zinnia Have you tried sea sickness wristbands? They work well for some people with morning sickness.

zinnia · 16/09/2010 12:18

southpacificfish that's a really good idea, thanks, am about to go and get myself some lunch (can feel an enormous vat of soup coming on) so will pop into Boots en route. Mind you, am wearing short sleeves today so best wait till tomorrow before sporting at work. That might be a giveaway in my female-dominated office in which there are at least 3 other pg women at the moment!

Top tip about the Pregnacare too, though I bought the wrong size pack of plain folic acid just before my BFP and as a result still have 159 days' worth of that to get through.

IheartRPatz · 16/09/2010 12:37

For those of you who have had some spotting / bleeding, what has been your actions since? Have you been through your doctors? I only found out on Tuesday, and have had bloody discharge since the Monday, am panicking that everything is going to go wrong.
I rang and signed up with the midwife but was in Tesco and didnt want to have to explain myself to the receptionist why I wanted to see somebody (plus, cant get in at the docs for another week anyway!).
Any advice? Do I just have to sit and wait and see what happens? I just wish somebody could put my mind at ease.

MrsChemist · 16/09/2010 12:44

IheartRPatz call your surgery back and ask for the number for your community midwives.
They should have a number that you can contact them on 24 hours a day. They can hopefully arrange to see you as soon as possible.

My MW was a bit dismissive, so I just called the early pregnancy unit at the hospital, and they told me to go in.
However, some EPUs require a referral from a GP or a MW, you would have to check with them first.
this website should help you find your nearest EPU

IheartRPatz · 16/09/2010 12:56

thanks for the link.
I'm at work at the moment, so will get DH to phone; he can make calls without people over-hearing!

janesaddictiontomarmite · 16/09/2010 13:07

Hi everyone

I'd like to join! I'm 5/6ish weeks with a DC2 - feeling more tired by the day, which isn't helped by the fact that I eat too much when I'm tired - which makes me more sluggish!!

I'm not seeing midwife for nearly a month - might have to have a private early scan before 12 weeks though. Had lots of early scans with DS because they thought i had a potential ectopic pregnancy - all was fine, but feel I can't wait for so long this time round to see I really am pregnant, iyswim.

It's horrible, how the uncertainty keeps creeping in, isn't it?? Trying my best to be completely relaxed and positive this time round - ha ha wish me luck!

Lovely to see so many people on this thread. And best wishes to anyone feeling stress or sadness at the moment.

PS will add my name on the list when I feel awake enough to do it! Also, will have a proper read through to find out who's who.

crazybutterflylady · 16/09/2010 13:38

Hi everyone, haven't been around much lately but thought I would check in and say hi. Welcome to all the newbies :)

I'm still not having many symptoms although I think morning sickness is creeping in - my boobs are HUGE and have had to buy a maternity bra (which I am already bursting out of Blush ). I have my booking-in appt and my early scan and 13 weeks scan all booked which is really exciting. Just have to make it that far now!!

Good to see everyone is doing well and good luck to those of you having scans etc

x

southpacificfish · 16/09/2010 14:00

crazybutterflylady sharing the huge boobs issue! Mine are already the size they were when I was nursing last time and I'm not quite 8 weeks pg yet! Put nursing bra on this morning and wondering just how big they'll get this time!

ukrainianmum · 16/09/2010 14:33

mrschemist and yorkstar I have just caught up. Sending lots of hugs to you both, please let us know when you hear anything.

RPatz good luck too, I am sure you'll be fine, it could just be that the embryo is nuzzling into it's comfy space and that's why there's a bit of spotting. Definitely best to get it checked out though x

Hi! all

Back from scan - our little bean is all ok so far Smile Measuring ok for dates etc etc. Another scan booked for 2pm 1st October.

Feel guilty for having scans already, but need them for sanity purposes.

RPatz thinking of you, let us know how you get on.

Yorkstar good luck for tomorrow, what time is the scan?

Sorry if some are feeling unwell, it is wretched but you'll get through.

Some have mentioned that they are worried that they don't have many symptoms. Every pregnancy is different:

With DD (1st DC), no sickness, very sore boobs, felt tired, could only manage bread and potatoes - starchy carb stuff also craved lemons.

With DS (2nd DC) slight nausea in the daytime, slight sore boobs, extremely tired, ate everything in sight and craved mints, especially Mint Aero.

With MMC very sore boobs, no sickness, slightly tired, ate everything.

With DS2 (died in utero 18 weeks) very very tired, sickness in the evening, very sore boobs. Went off alot of foods - especially meat.

This time round so far, slightly sore boobs, really tired but can't sleep, slight nausea mainly during the day.

Most symptoms aren't in full swing til about 8-9 week mark.

Take care all.

xxx
