Here's the new thread for the September 2010 arrivals - though some babies have already come in July and August, and maybe more to come in August before we're done with this month...

OP posts:

Hermya321 · 27/08/2010 16:23

Urmmmmm I'm just poking my head around the door and wondering if anyone round these parts has heard from Whiteroses of late?

beaditAli · 27/08/2010 16:25

Hi all,
I'm new to this too and don't know how to join any of these clubs. Does messaging do it?
'm due on 14th Sept tho very much hope I'll be early as even strangers in the street comment on the size of the football shape bump stuck on the front of me! Saw MW today and all well so far.
Hope everyone is coping ok at these late stages and that you're having more luck than me at choosing names. Ours is a boy and so far only agree on possibly two of the most popular boys name around: Oliver and Jack. Racking my brain for a longer list that we agree on.
x

cinnamongreyhound · 27/08/2010 16:36

Hi beaditAli you have now joined! Find the most recent list, copy and paste it into a new message and add yourself at the appropriate place. Nothing wrong with popular names, we would have named DS Jack but DH's nephew is Jack so would have been a bit strange! We only have 3 that DH likes which are Sam, Luke and Ben so not doing much better!

beaditAli · 27/08/2010 16:43

Thanks cinnamongreyhound! Do you too have a greyhound poochy? That would be quite a coincidence!

Stickhasgrownup · 27/08/2010 16:45

Hi beaditali - My DS is called Jack, he's now 7, but can you believe that I had no idea that it had been the most popular boys name for 10 years when I named him!!! However I think it really depends on where you live as to how popular a name is. We don't know any other Jacks at all! There are none in his year at school or in the year above and only one other in the year below!
Just go with a name you like and don't worry about the popularity. My DD has a more unusual name but with boys me and DH only seem to agree on the more common ones! Other names for DS were Oliver, William, Harry, Sam and Jake.

bananastew · 27/08/2010 18:38

Welcome beaditali! We've also chosen Oliver. I wasn't keen at 1st because of its popularity but its seriously the only one we like so Oliver it is!

So! I was discussing stretch & sweep & induction today! Although all my signs are pointing to an iminent labour, I've got a feeling he's going to stay put a while longer! Booked in for a possible s&s on the 6th but not sure I want one. I've not heard of anyone thats actually had a successful one i.e. gone into labour within 48 hours & all i've heard is that they're really uncomfortable. Well, painful actually!
Has anyone had one?

mellymooks · 27/08/2010 19:10

For anyone who likes being nosey I've just updated my profile pics of me with a bump and a couple of my DD whom of course I think is gorgeous Wink

skyeplusbump · 27/08/2010 19:34

melly...im rather noseyGrin
lovely pic's,and it would seem we have rather simaler interests, like etc...shame really as we only left gloustershire last year.

getting rather sick of constant-going-no-where-bh-contractions.Sad
either go away,or turn into labour ffs!

mellymooks · 27/08/2010 19:53

Oh skye am sorry you're not in Gloucs anymore!! And that you are having BH without it going anywhere is so so frustrating - you know what you're gonna have to do if you want it to kick off Wink

Where are you now? We've been here 3 yrs now and love it it's such a great location between both our families and such gorgeous countryside, but with great cities and towns all within easy reach, can you tell I'm happy here?!

mellymooks · 27/08/2010 19:54

Always forget - 37+1

skyeplusbump · 27/08/2010 19:59

we were in cinderford in the forest, but we dont drive so were very isolated (over an hour bus ride to glouster!)and jobs were few and far between Sad such a shame as we lived next door to our best freinds who have a dd the same age as ours, and the forest is so beautiful.Sad

we are in north hants now...back home really where we both grew up,we dont intend to stay forever, but its good for jobs and gp's are very close by also we really have to stop moving house!...we lived in edinburgh when dd was born so gp's are quite happy we're closer this time!Smile

mellymooks · 27/08/2010 20:26

That is the trouble round these parts, we both commute to Bristol for work and I would love to find something closer to here but I'm not holding my breath!

Sounds like you've moved about alot, we're determined to stay in one spot for a while now as the last 10 years have seen us all over the place!

skyeplusbump · 27/08/2010 20:47

ummm,we dont mean to,but seem to have too for one reason or another...next move will be the last! im pretty determined about that!Smile

mellymooks · 27/08/2010 20:58

Are you and I the only ones online right now?!

They had better not all be off having babies without us Grin

skyeplusbump · 27/08/2010 21:05

i was just thinking that...will NOT be impressed.Envy
i want to be next! (stamps feet)

Grin
Stickhasgrownup · 27/08/2010 21:23

banana - I had a sweep with ds and went into labour there and then! Could barely walk out the door and contractions continued. Think the actual sweep was done at about midday and I went back in to hospital at 7pm. DS was then born at 6am. So it worked for me! I do think that you have to be ready for it though... I think I was already 3cm, although hadn't had any signs of labour beforehand.

Still having BH/contraction type pains... I wonder........

cinnamongreyhound · 27/08/2010 21:37

I do beaditAli, I've always loved Greyhounds and I got her when my ex left me as he didn't like dogs and I didn't want to be on my own! She'll be 10 in November :)

I had a sweep with DS bananastew but it didn't work, then again my cervix wasn't favourable. They are now offering them and 40+7 and 40+10 as standard in my area. Two friends of mine had one at 40+7, both favourable cervix's (not sure of pleural!) and had dilated 2-3cm and had their babies the next day, was second baby for both though.

The questions are mounting up now! Had 2 texts today asking if I've had the baby yet and all my customers are starting to suggest they might not see me next week, oh what a lot of fun to look forward to when I actually become overdue!!!

Congratulations Sazzie, hope you and little Evie are doing well. Beaustiful name.

NOthing much to report here, very fed up with comments, "Are you still pregnant?" Being the worst for me. I mean why ask that question, is it not obvious!

NOt that I really want November type weather, but I do envy you with some fresh air. Its hot and humid here (28/30º), and with no signs of temp going down. Im having 2 showers a day, I sleep starkers with no covers and window open. Not looking forward to labour in this heat.

skyeplusbump · 27/08/2010 21:55

blimey,where are you patio? Grin

catbus · 27/08/2010 22:00

OOO melly and Skye: you both live in places I grew up in! I was born in NHants and spent 14 years there, then did secondary school in Gloucs.

Good and bad news about DS' cast: good news is that it has been replaced with a below the knee one now, so he is much more comfortable (yet increasingly worryingly and dodgily mobile!) Shock and looks like he has a big rugby sock on!

Bad news is that this one is on for longer so I will definitely be having this baby with a toddler in plaster. Oh well...my timing in life has always been a bit pants.

Going for 4th cup of hot chocolate now and will wait with baited breath to see if anyone pops a baby by tomorrow. Smile

Jaysfourth · 28/08/2010 12:08

hi all

Baby Marianne came into the world on Thursday 26th Aug at 3pm. Weighing 10lbs 8oz. She is gorgeous and has a mountain of black hair!

After much waiting in hospital, having the baby turned, trying everything to prepare for a natural birth, it was decided in the end there was too much of a risk to induce labour and i had to have a section.

We are both doing well, but i am just coming to terms with not being able to have a 'normal' birth, finding it quite emotional at the mo, but i guess i will pick up soon.

Love to all Jays x

parkj83 · 28/08/2010 12:30

Oh! Congratulations Jay! Wow, that is a very good weight! And I love the name too :)

Oh dear re the birth not going the way you wanted it too x Did she stay head down, and they just decided not to risk it (I'm battling this one myself atm, not the head down bit, but the natural labour/delivery), or did she never stay down? x

37 exactly :o Eee! It's getting closer! Bring on September!

catbus · 28/08/2010 12:35

BIG congrats Jaysfourth!!

Was keeping everything crossed for you. Am so glad you are both ok, but so understand you feeling emotional about it being your last birth almost taken out of your control.

You tried so hard I know. Massive hugs coming your way. Smile

skyeplusbump · 28/08/2010 12:42

congratulations jays Grin
welcome to the world marianne!x

so sorry you didnt get the birth you wanted...but you tryed really hard,no one can say you didnt try!Smile

BooStar · 28/08/2010 12:49

Oh wow!!! Congratulations Jaysfourth & Sazzie both beautiful names for whom I'm sure are beautiful little girls!!

Very jealous of all that have their babies as I am now getting extremely impatient & fed up with being so huge. I feel like I am one permanent BH with quite a painful tingly feeling on the top (shelf bit) of my bump. I'm also sleep deprived (going to loo 5-6 times a night with painful hips when trying to sleep) and living solely on Gaviscon.
Wednesday is so close and a big part of me wants to hold out now for a September baby but I'm going to be a nightmare for every day that I go over I know it!
I hate to be a moaning minnie but come on - enough already!!
