Here's the new thread for the September 2010 arrivals - though some babies have already come in July and August, and maybe more to come in August before we're done with this month...

mellymooks · 25/08/2010 07:22

skye believe me it was a case of desperate measures as i so wanted to avoid induction and was nearly a week over!!
Couldn't really believe it that it seemed to get the ball rolling. Of course I'll never know for absolute sure that labour wouldn't have started the following morning anyway, only thing I have to go on is that I had seen MW that evening and she said I was way off, baby not engaged and started going on about booking me in for induction, I panicked, went home, had hilarious - where do I put this bump-sex and 12 hrs later my contractions were 2 and half minutes apart Grin

skyeplusbump · 25/08/2010 08:36

melly pmsl, if im still here at 40 weeks it's likley i'll even try that!!may have to convince dp thoughHmm Blush Grin

parkj83 · 25/08/2010 10:22

Yay, it's all fixed! I have hot water again. All it was was a loose ignition cable, which meant the spark wasn't reaching the pilot light.

Phew! Easy fix, the bloke was in and out in half an hour. Now, to get a service very definitely booked in...!!

comixminx · 25/08/2010 10:28

Gosh, what a lot of stuff of all sorts happening! Good stuff with the boiler, park - great to have it sorted no doubt - and blimey, catbus, bad luck with the break - what timing!

Am having a quiet time at home just hoping that various twinges and tightenings turn into something more - but no particular sign of that yet today, at any rate! I had enough activity happening on Sunday that I rang the doula for advice, but then it all calmed down again. After wanting & expecting a September baby I'd now be quite happy with an August baby thanks very much!

Great news that the shower is fixed park - I was beginning to get whiff of you from here! Grin

jaysfourth, am sending some extra gravity your way to keep LO's head down.

Off to buy some raspberry tea tablets....

parkj83 · 25/08/2010 12:18

haha! Not surprised Pickle! :o

I did wonder why the dogs were more interested than DH last night...

Debs75 · 25/08/2010 13:03

Poor ds catbus I remember when our ds broke his leg and had to keep all weight off it for 6 weeks. It was a nightmare but luckily it hurt that much he was pretty good at just sitting. He was 9 tho so god only knows how a 2 year old will be.

Some of you sound ready to pop so get a move on. Only those who want to have an August baby, if you want a September one you can keep it in for a couple more weeks

cinnamongreyhound · 25/08/2010 14:21

September is only a week away Debs75 Shock!!

Really wish I wasn't working now :( Have 7 children in my house at the moment, luckily 5 are watching a DVD and 2 are sleeping but could really do with some time to myself and with my DS before he has to share me all the time.

Plus DH has been a total arse today and had me in tears (to be fair I normally wouldn't have cried sure it's hormones!). My mum wants to have the boys to stay (DS and DSS), they really want a sleepover at nanny's and DH wants to see the expenibles so I have arranged for them to go Saturday and us to go to the cinema. But DH wants to go to the beach while DSS is with us for holidays and I am working everyday in the week so it has to be a weekend. He has to work one day of the weekend due to needing to look after livestock but never tells me very much in advance. I suggested going Sunday but apparently its pointless as we either won't get a lay-in or we will miss too much of the day at the beach! I can't bloody win! Plus really I don't want them to stay at my mum's its more hassle and they both sleep 8pm-7am no problems, I don't want to see the Expendibles and I certainly don't want to go to the beach at 39+5 weeks pregnant when all DH will do is fish off the beach and I will have to watch the kids and it will probably rain on us! All I am trying to do is make everyone happy and all I get is shouted at Angry

patito · 25/08/2010 14:47

Oh catbus poor you and poor DS. Mine is 2 also, couldn´t imagine having him in plaster at this stage. Sad.

Cinnamon How are you managing 7 kids, can barely cope with 1.

Well the only waters the moon moved in my house last night were DS´s who wet the bed for the first time ever since taking of night time nappies.

Sex worked for me last time also, or similar to you Melly, didn´t have any signs or twinges but several hours later was in full throws of labour. Had been drinking RL tea for some before hand also. Trying to plan baby sitter for BH monday to try and get in a bit of quiet time with DP to see we can kick things off Grin

Ive been warned off rasberry leaf tea this time round as I had a very quick labour with DS and tbh dont really want it to go any faster. It was a bit of a shock starting off so strongly. DP was panicking at some stage that MW wouldn´t arrive in time, but she did and all was OK in the end.

cinnamongreyhound · 25/08/2010 15:08

It's the thought that most of them will be going home at sometime today and of course the fact that I can't pay the bills if I don't have them here patito Grin. There was a fun day today so we went out at 9.30 and they ran around a lot with not too much supervision, had lunch out and then back for littlest to nap and others to watch DVD. Have really had enough now though, would be nice to slob out for a day and not have to smile at every parent telling me it's not long now, asking if there are any signs etc. Not to mention everyone telling me how small I am and how well I look when I feel like a small whale with something out of aliens trying to break free from my belly!!!

Debs75 · 25/08/2010 15:50

Cinnamon Only a week, god I wish I could of held on. Not really I quite like looking in the mirror at my slim figure. Now to stop eating all these chocolate digestives.
We had 7 kids in the house yesterday, from 10 days to 15 years and it was bedlam so god knows how you are coping.

I would tell DP that if he really wants to go to the beach then you will pack him up and he can take DSS by himself. The beach is no place for a heavily pregnant woman.

Lucy keeps weeing through her nappies. I use pampers and they wrap around her waist but the bottoms hang down to her knees. I can't get any smaller ones so not sure what to do apart from wash a load of her clothes every other day.

mellymooks · 25/08/2010 15:54

debs try nature baby ones if you can get them, Waitrose and big tesco's & Boots sell them, I've always used them and have had about 2 leaks in the whole almost 3 years I've been using them, they come up quite slim and the first baby ones are diddy.

Monstermuncher · 25/08/2010 16:20

Cinnamon - wow, hats off to you.
Catbus, thats such a shame about DS, hang on in there!
Have been thinking about the raspberry leaf tea, I might investigate local healthy herbally shop.
Had last m/w apt today, and am booked in to see my consultant in 2 weeks (which will put me at 40+3)to discuss sweep and/or poss ELCS if nothing has happened. I'm alternating between "I've had enough, get this baby out now" and "shiiiiiiiiit, I'm really going to have to do this"

skyeplusbump · 25/08/2010 17:33

seconding the nature baby care...they have never failed us! skye was 6lb10 and they were the only ones that fit her!

mw today...nothing to report really,happily he's still head down partly engaged.all good.Smile

he'd seriously better be out before my next appointment though! it's at 40+3 and i do not intend to be there!!Grin

Bah humbug - that is how i feel today, it must be this weather. It feels like November as it's so dark, dreary and wet. Saw my consultant yesterday and all seems fine, but they still won't let me have a HB until my hb goes up to at least 10. Not much i can do about that, and to be honest I agree with that. But hoping i can get my bloods back on track. Still taking triple the normal dose of iron tablets which i have been doing now for over 4 weeks. This pregnancy really is trying me - its nos 3 for me and i have had so many symptoms. Breezed through DS1 and DS2 pregnancies. Think it must be a combination of age (am 40) and it being nos 3. Am really struggling with sleep as i wake up for a pee at about 3am and then can't get back to sleep due to breathlessness and sore hips.

OK selfish, moaning bit now over.
catbus - poor you and poor DS! My son broke his foot when he was 12 months old - well my husband accidentally jumped on it when they were playing on the bed. Kids' bones aren't properly formed at that age so he only had a cast on up to his knee for about 2 weeks, but it was still hard work and i wasn't pregnant. Hope you are coping ok and that he isn't in too much pain.
parkj83 Woohoo! boiler fixed!!
cinnamon my DH has seriously fu**ed me off today and am trying not to let my pregnant hormomes let me over react, but he is out in London tonight with clients and because it is physically impossible for him to go out without drinking he is staying at his mates house in town. He does this about once every 2 weeks and it doesn't bother me, but am 36 +2 now and had my DS1 at 37 weeks........what do i do if i go into labour tonight eh? Oh well, doubt i will but still was really annoyed. Bloody men!

ooosabeauta · 25/08/2010 19:53

Wow, what a lot to catch up on!

Won't comment individually but sorry for those people who are having complications (both home and health) at this stage. I feel like the tension is really mounting on this thread! Thinking of you Jaysfourth as it must be really really tough being away from your children at this time, and cinnamon not getting all the time you want with just yours before the new arrival.

I've had a tonne of appointments this week - DVT scans for my varicose veins, physio for my bladder, GTT for diabetes and a normal midwife one. I'm getting to know my way around the hospital quite well, but I do feel about 80 years old! Today at the midwife appt I measured only 34cm when I'm 36wks tomorrow, and was 33cm at 33 wks. Has anyone else measured small for dates? I was always bang on with ds so I'm a bit worried.

Re. hospital notes, I hadn't been carrying mine but was told at hospital that women are always being brought in from the shops without them, not necessarily for labour but when they have a funny turn or something untoward happens, and then they have to call someone to collect them and bring them in.

Re. nappies Debs I found Pampers started leaking a few months ago (they changed the design and lessened the absorbency according to Watchdog), and I switched to Lidl's 'Toujours' nappies, which have been excellent, and cheap (although not as eco-friendly as Nature Babycare). Unfortunately they don't do newborn ones, otherwise I'd start with them this time.

cinnamongreyhound · 25/08/2010 20:41

I am measuring small ooosabeauta but my scan showed baby is above average so I really wouldn't worry. Midwife said if your scan said baby is bigger than average we wont worry! I put it down to my amazingly strong abdominal muscles holding everything in Wink

Re: Pampers, I think it's only the active fit ones that have changed. My friend is having a nightmare with them at the moment. Was going to ask if you're using newborn or micro Debs75 (couldn't remember Lucy's weight). I am a big fan of huggies but as DS was 8lb 12oz only used from newborn up and not even sure they do a smaller one?

I don't think I'd be happy either Cluds, DH drinks in the evenings and I have been thinking that if I do go into labour in the evening by the time we need to go to hospital it will be out of his blood stream but I can't imagine him being away from me and drinking (presumably a reasonable amount).

MammyG · 25/08/2010 23:46

Hi all
Well its done - mostly! bag packed etc and list on top of bag of items still to go in. Had a wake up call today as had a tiny bit of spotting. Called the gp but she wasnt too bothered as it was light and Im not cramping. Still thought best to get sorted as she warned me should I bleed more its off to hospital straight away (2 hours away) As the others were induced hadnt even truly considered the possibility of going on my own. Still a month left tho but as I have to go back to work next week think I might only do two days? afraid of puching it as I am shattered and sore today after heading to consultant yesterday.
Really need sleep tonight - what are the chances?

cinnamongreyhound · 26/08/2010 07:53

Hope you got a good night MammyG, that's how I feel about this one - will be very shocked if he comes by himself!

It's been pouring here all night but does seem to have at least slowed down if not stopped so hopefully won't get too wet when we go out later.

Hope you all have a good day, a few due dates arriving now :)

39+2

bellabelly · 26/08/2010 08:37

Right, today is officially the day I MUST pack my hospital bag... Grin

PickleSarnie · 26/08/2010 08:51

Can you do mine once you're done bella please? I can pay in chocolate.

Debs75 · 26/08/2010 08:59

Lucy was 6lb6oz, now 6lb. She has no fat so has a very skinny bottom.
Are the nature baby the ones which are eco-friendly? We were thinking of using them with dc3 but the vouchers for pampers swayed my mind. I've used pampers for all 4 and it is only now I am having trouble with them so it must be the new design.

Swordfishtrombones · 26/08/2010 09:19

Morning ladies

Still nothing to report here. I had some very promising contractions last night before I went to bed, but they've gone again. Humph.

I'm slightly regretting choosing a homebirth now because I feel an enormous pressure (only from myself) to keep the house really clean and tidy. It's a bit unrealistic though as it's the summer holidays and I have a lively 3 and 5 year old! I just feel like I'm constantly barking at them to pick things up and put toys away.

Yesterday DD2 was in nursery and DD1 has a cold so she played a princess game on the Wii and watched High school Musical nearly all day. I am feeling a terribly mummy with all the screen time. The weather doesn't help though.

39 and counting!
