Here's the new thread for the September 2010 arrivals - though some babies have already come in July and August, and maybe more to come in August before we're done with this month...

OP posts:

The engineer won't come till tomorrow, DH has had a pop at me for relaying the info, and for getting annoyed and wanting to cancel the insurance and book our own engineer, so now I'm sat here in tears, no hot water, and desperate for a shower. :(

catbus · 24/08/2010 14:19

Well I will be VERY interested to see what happens with us all this week, mainly tonight as IT'S A FULL MOOOOOON!!!

Labour wards are usually full themselves at this time, so I hope to be able to wake the midwife up this evening and get her to come and put the kettle on! Grin

Had MW appt today: when I reminded her it was a full moon, she groaned as she is the on call for home deliveries tonight!

Might have to spend the rest of the day (in between breaking up fights) pacing, flapping, nipple twiddling etc...

Cluds · 24/08/2010 14:52

Ooh, full moon is tonight is it? Will be checking in first thing tomorrow to see what has happened to everyone! Had my consultants appt today and it is a definitive no to a homebirth if my hb levels don't go up to at least 10, they have gone up a bit to 9.7, so hope i don't go into labour tonight! Other than that my B12 injections are working so that's good! And baby is pretty much nearly engaged. Have been seriously nesting this past few days - got the nursery completely ready, cot bed up (but no mattress yet!), wardrobe with lots of little babygrows hanging (so cute I had to take a photo!), moses basket ready, plastic sheets etc for HB and today i bought some nipple cover thingy's. So, feel a bit more relaxed and less panicky! DS1 and DS2 are lovely, but I am finding the summer holidays LONG!! They are still at home for another 2 1/2 weeks...............
parkj83 sorry you are a bit low at the moment. It is so horrid when you are pregnant as you have no control over your emotions.

Will check in tomorrow for the latest news!
36+1

bellabelly · 24/08/2010 15:09

Ooh, full moon - how exciting! I desperately want these babies out now, can't face another 3 weeks... Just heard on the news that Samantha Cameron has just had her September baby while on holiday in Cornwall...wonder if the full moon is at work already or does it have to be night time for it to have an effect???

parkj83, not surprised you are fed up about the boiler - is there a leisure centre you could pop to this afternoon to use their showers? Or better still, a friendly neighbour with plenty of hot water? Hope it all gets sorted tomorrow.

bananastew · 24/08/2010 15:26

Whats this about a full moon? are babies more likely to come then???

I rang the assessment unit this morning. It would appear I'm loosing my "plug"!!! That coupled with the pains, BH and the fact baby is 1/5th made the midwife think things would happen pretty soon! I hope so! By the time I was this pregnant with DS I was in the final stages of pushing! he was born 9 days early at 15:42!

38+5!

Jaysfourth · 24/08/2010 15:27

cinnamongreyhound · 24/08/2010 15:48

PickleSarnie I had no braxton hicks in my first pregnancy but have been having them since 20 weeks this time so I really wouldn't worry. You would know if you've had them your whole uterus goes rock hard and it makes it uncomfortable to move around, they're not painful though. I get them if I suddenly start walking quickly after sitting for a while. I have a newborn cardigan and 0-3 months but I bought them both 2nd hand as I hate baby cardigans with hoods (they either are under the baby's back which must be uncomfortable or if you put them on are always too big for baby's head and cover their faces) and that's the only way I could get hold of one without. It's not essential to have one before the baby especially as it shouldn't be that cold.

Yes bananastew they are supposed to come out with the full moon, or so I was told when pregnant with DS. He didn't and I have to say I'm not a huge believer in it!

So sorry you're still waiting Jaysfourth, how much longer past your due date will they leave you before they want to give you a cs? Are you sleeping on your left? I read something the other day that one of the best ways to get the baby into a good position is to make sure you sleep on your left side. I don't know how you are supposed to do that, I wake up with a sore left hip and have to turn onto my right but then do that same back again later. I'm pretty sure most mornings my baby has his back to my right but as soon as I'm up and about he goes back over to my left! Hoping he will engage soon and stay put. Keeping my fingers crossed your little lady starts behaving herself. You will be back with your family before you know it x

Dixiebell · 24/08/2010 15:57

OMG, Samantha Cameron has just given birth early (c-sect) whilst on holiday in Cornwall. She was due September. So hoping I don't do a SamCam when we're down there for a week in a couple of weeks' time - will be 37 weeks at that point!!

skyeplusbump · 24/08/2010 15:59

my dd was born on a full moon,i hope tonights the night!!Grin

sorry your feeling rubbish jay hope your little one starts behaving! i was transverse until my mum went into labour!they kept trying to move me and id just flip over again Blush

bannanahow exiting! keep us upated!Grin

park our boiler broke a few months ago...took landlord 2 weeks to fix it!! drove me utterly mental as pepole kept saying, its the summer why do you need it?! err for showers, the washing up...bathing a grubby toddler...idiots.hope yours gets fixed MUCH quicker!!

will be checking up tonight and tomorow for labour story's!!Grin

PickleSarnie · 24/08/2010 16:04

Thanks so much for the reasurance on the (lack off) braxton hicks. Was scared I was faulty or something. Hopefully my insides will figure out what to do without any practising first!

Off to pack bag in case the full moon gets me.....

catbus · 24/08/2010 16:13

Bellabelly tends to be a few days either side of full moon, with the fullest night (tonight)in question the most pokey. No, not necessarily at night. It stands to reason, even if you 'are not a believer'.

Our bodies are over 70% water: the moon governs the tides! It has a huge effect on menstrual cycles, so think about it; how much more water do we carry in pregnancy?!

Jaysfourth Been thinking about you a lot: sending big hugs and positive vibes for your LO to STAY HEAD DOWN, then exit appropriately!!!xxx

Dixiebell · 24/08/2010 16:25

SamCam must be first to succumb to the full moon then Wink.

patito · 24/08/2010 16:31

HI

catbus glad to hear things are going well.

Jaysfourth Cant imagine how you must be feeling, stuck in hospital at this stage. Hope that your baby settles down soon.

Had MW appointment today. Baby is engaged, didn´t say how far though. Everything else OK.

Have been waking around 5am every morning for a bowl of weetabix for the past week. I have to sleep on my left, but like everyone find I get numb hips/shoulder etc just from the sheer weight I think. But if i turn onto right the baby makes it pretty clear its not comfortable that way round. I find myself asking the baby to let me have 10 minutes on my right side then promising to turn back over after Confused

I dont really have BH either, not in 1st prgnancy nor this one. Have had a couple, or at least what may have been, but not really sure.

Please tell me there is life without suppport tights. Im sooooo hot in them and I only have one pair and they are starting to ladder but I refuse to buy another at this stage as they cost 25 Shock. On the bright side my brand spanking new BFing tops arrived today Smile, couldn´t resist trying them on, even though I couldn´t get them down over the bump.

Heard much about the full moon theory, but DS was due close to a full and came a week or so after. So not utterly convinced.

oh and I think we have a girls name, just got to agree on a boys one now!

coppertop · 24/08/2010 19:22

PickleSarnie - I didn't get any Braxton Hicks contractions until my 3rd pregnancy. None at all in either my first or second.

Jaysfourth - Sorry you're still stuck in hospital. :(

I've finally started getting things together to put in my hospital bag. I'm having a mild panic as the MW has told me that the baby feels enormous and has booked me in for a growth scan on Friday. I'm currently measuring 42wks. I was hoping to avoid an induction this time around but it's not looking hopeful at the moment. Eeek!

35+5

catbus · 24/08/2010 19:23

Oh crap; now decided I don't want to start having this baby yet: DH has had to take youngest DC, 2, to A&E as he appears to have knackered his ankle, is in a lot of pain and can't walk. BUGGER!

Poor little mite: and now the pressure and strong tightenings are really brewing up: middle DC has also accompanied them to hospital, so my MW for the evening might have to be my 11 year old DD, shortly to return from a friend's...I am holding on for dear life if things really do kick off!

skyeplusbump · 24/08/2010 19:27

oh crikey catbus
babys always choose the most awkward moments ehh?!
try a bath maybe?
keep us updated!Grin

skyeplusbump · 24/08/2010 20:01

eating vegie tikka masala...mug of rasberry leaf tea...pineapple for pudding...are you paying attention baby?!

cinnamongreyhound · 24/08/2010 21:57

Never tried raspberry leaf tea with DS but did all the rest! The day before my induction was booked I bounced on my ball most of it, had sex followed by a hot curry and most of a pineapple and some sideways climbing of stairs, was still induced. This time I don't want to tempt fate as I'd really like the baby to wait til next weds but after that I'll probably have a go! Good luck skyeplusbump anyway Grin

mellymooks · 24/08/2010 22:01

Sex worked for us last time Wink

skyeplusbump · 24/08/2010 22:04

not bloody working!
the day i went in to labour with DD (a full moon)i walked up calton hill(in edinburgh)ate 3 pineapples and drank pints of rasberryleaf tea!
ahh well looks like he'll come when he's ready!Grin

skyeplusbump · 24/08/2010 22:17

melly where did you find the energy?! Grin

catbus · 24/08/2010 22:47

Bollocks: I am now officially NOT wanting baby to come for 2 weeks at least. 2 yr old DS has leg in full cast and I can barely move him, let alone lift him. God only knows how am going to deal with this: my brave little fella. Sad

Bollocks again; I cannot believe it!

skyeplusbump · 24/08/2010 23:07

oh shite catbuswhat a nightmare! i have a 2yr old,i have no idea how i would keep her still for two bloody weeks!! good luck!

MammyG · 24/08/2010 23:16

Bloody hell catbus what timing! Real in as many helpers as you can -fast!
jaysfourth Thinking of you. I spent 2 weeks in hospital a while back -its torture at the best of times. Hope you LO obliges promptly. Wish I could say something more hopeful but sending you loads of positive energy if that helps.
Cinnamon - think it so funny how people are uncomfortable with a woman being out and about close to EDD. What are you supposed to do? Self imposed imprisonment? I was induced on both and was eating out with DH at 41+ weeks. I could feel nothing was happening so wasnt bothered - other people thought I was barking! I would have been if I had to stay in and stare at the walls!

Doctor today. All fine. Still low BP and HB but baby average size and head down. Mind you he commented on how the other two had to be 'chucked out' and both of us agreed it was likely again this time. So october baby it will be. Ugh!!
Picked up most things for hospital bag so if im not reporting it packed tomorrow feel free to berate me.

parkj83 · 25/08/2010 06:50

Morning all, thank you for your support, I was having a real "poor me" session - sorry! The engineer is coming out "at some point today, between 8 and 4.30", and DH and I apologised to each other - he took me to dinner!

Thank goodness DS is at MIL's, otherwise I'd have been a million times more annoyed! He comes home today though. I was as much pee'd off that my plans for today had been screwed up, but I've managed to rearrange everything - my parents will pick DS up on their way back from their holiday, and I will meet my friend tomorrow instead of today. Sigh.

My friend lent me her shower yesterday, and mw appt went beautifully, she's really happy about hb provided Fidget comes between 38-40ish weeks. If I start going over, then we'll have to keep an eye on Fidge's size as apparantly I'm on track for at least an 8lb LO, but I am incredibly doubtful I will go over!

cinnamon I'm the same - begging Fidget to stay put till the 1st, but as soon as that day hits, I'll be scoffing the pineapple and curry, and bathing in raspberry leaf tea!

jaysfourth I hope LO settles head down, and it all gets sorted soon x
