Here's the new thread for the September 2010 arrivals - though some babies have already come in July and August, and maybe more to come in August before we're done with this month...

PJ's are my best friend Grin

MammyG · 20/08/2010 21:32

Hi all
Lovely evening, had meal out with Dh in peace and quiet as my brother graciously offered to have the boys to his for a few hours. It was so nice to just chill and laugh. The boys didnt want to come home and my brother is redecorating but he has said in a few weeks when the rooms are done they are welcome to sleep over and 'get in the swing of it'! Am delighted and rather chuffed with my single 31 year old brov who thinks hanging out with his nephews is cool.
Debs - congrats! sounds like an epic birth. My first was very similar. Esp shaking after being on the epidural for so long. I have low blood pressure so had a weird fever type experience too. Really didnt like - as if my head had left me. Made DH stay with me for hours after second baby in case it happened again!
Welcome Rebekahbird
Melly and Sword fish - ditto on the sleepless nights. Hips and shoulders killing me as well as gymnastic baby. Also weird dreams where I wake up feeling very emotional.
Babys room finally sorted. Will half put bag together this weekend but waiting to hit shops on tue to finish.
SIL (due week after me) and her 3 coming tomorrow for a few nights. All fun and games!!

PickleSarnie · 20/08/2010 22:10

sazziej, me. My PJ's and sweat pants are permanently attached to me. Occasionally i have irrational and hormonal outbursts wailing to my OH that he's never going to want to do me again because I'm such a slob. But not even that is enough for me to put jeans that won't stay up on. Am too exhausted for any 'doings' these days anyway.

skyeplusbump · 20/08/2010 23:29

im with you guys on the pj's.i only put on 'real' clothes when i have to go to toddler group!Grin

cant sleep again...been on a mad buying stuff mission via the internet, baby NEEDS organic vests and merino wool swaddling blankets, and dd NEEDS lelly kelli shoes and a buzy bee striped dress...Confused Grin
at least i'll have a good reason to stay in next week!!

was up most of last night with false labour...SO unfair! Angry Sad

hoping to sleep a bit now...Hmm

night all. Smile

sazziej · 21/08/2010 10:26

skyeplusbump I didn't sleep a wink last night either, spent most of the night downstairs bouncing on my ball as didn't want to wake DH. I'll go back to bed this afternoon for a nap....

I'm seriously suffering from cabin fever this last few days... I think i'll have to get the sewing machine out today so I don't think I'm just sitting around all day doing nothing.... at least if I'm sewing I'm not being too energetic but I'll feel like I'm doing something productive with my day!Hmm

cinnamongreyhound · 21/08/2010 10:33

Morning all, sorry you are all having such bad sleep. I am luck that although I wake up for a wee and to turn over because my hips hurt I go straight back to sleep so don't feel too knackered.

I dreamt I was in labour last night. Really starting to worry about having to be induced again only 10 days til due date and still not feeling ready for a baby Shock

parkj83 · 21/08/2010 11:12

Thank you all for your supportive responses :) x

DH woke up when he was at work, and now agrees with me, so that's something at least.

I'm going to phone the Outpatient's dept, and see if I can push to see the obs I wanted to see to begin with - he knows me as he's treated me before, so I really really want to talk to him first before I make any concrete changes.

My doula is really supportive too, as you'd expect I'd suppose! She's helping me keep positive about which ever scenario will happen - we'll plan for both, and she's suggested for me to write down the key problems with DS's birth, and to pin the consultant and mw down, and get them to justify why these are valid medical reasons for hospital over home birth. If it makes sense, then so be it, but till then, home-birth rules!

As for living in pjs, I haven't got any that fit! lol. I've never been a pj person really as my weight has fluctuated so much since I hit puberty!! I prefer nighties. But I live in leggings (although I swore I wouldn't!) and I have one pair of jeans I wear when it's wet/cold. I have 3 dresses too, which I keep for church and going out.

parkj83 · 21/08/2010 11:14

Oops, I forgot too...

36!!!

Debs75 · 21/08/2010 11:43

For all you in PJ's it doesn't stop after birth. I only get dressed if I am going outside. I do have terrible excema on my legs tho and I find PJ's don't irritate them.

10 days to go cinnamon great someone to join me in moaning about newborn tiredness.Smile

Cluds · 21/08/2010 16:01

Hi everyone! Wow so much to catch up on. Congrats Debs75!! Your labour sounded quite long and exhausting, but glad you are home.

Can sympathise with the hip aches, as I have that at night too, but likecinnamongreyhound tend to turn over and go back to sleep. Sometimes struggle if it is early morning and toss and turn a bit, but luckily DS1 and DS2 don't wake up until about 8.30 and I am going to bed about 10.30 so really am getting plenty of sleep.
I am however very bored - especially of this weather! Have to get out the house in a minute and take the dog for a walk, but looking out the window it doesn't really look very inviting.

Am seeing consultant this week about my HB so fingers crossed my bloods (iron, folate and B12) will all be ok and he will still ok the HB. Actually went out and bought some plastic sheeting and other bits and bobs today, but that is all i have done.......need to get my a**e in gear!
Good luck everyone!

Jaysfourth · 21/08/2010 19:10

hi all :)

just checking in. Am reading daily and should be posting but never seem to have much to report!

Mammy, Mello and everyone else with sore hips, can i join your club! I can not sleep on either side, if i find myself in the position, i simply cannot get out of bed for at least 15 mins. I have to sit up so gently and work the pain out, its ridiculous. Sleeping on my back is the only way, but i have to sit up as the weight is too much and i find i cant breath....i dont know, the things we endure!

cluds hope you get the go ahead for HB, got to push for what you want and stick to your guns! Let them know whos in charge :)

Banana, so sorry to hear abut your Aunty, hope you, and she, can get through this hard time. Did you manage to sneak out the day your inlaws came?

Park, will they give you agrowth scan to measure your baby?or just palpate to estimate? Hope all goes well and you get to organise what you want :)

I am still in hospital, comingup for two weeks now.....:( missing my kiddies and DH so much, being kept upto date every day with their antics though via FB and iPhone videos and pics ... what you can do with technology now !

So D-day is next tuesday when a plan will be made to turn baby and do a controlled ARM. fingers crossed all goes to plan, or else i might feel like the past two weeks were for nothing... but at least i would have given every and anything for my 'normal' birth. ANYWAY consultant today though that baby was head down.... but i dont want to get excited as this happened before and she moved again.... the only way i will be convinced is with a scan!

hope everyone enjoys their sat eve, i have a tiny hospital TV to look forward to! :(

saoirse86 · 21/08/2010 20:24

Do I need to pack my hospital bag yet?!?! I'm have to help my sister (who's 36+0) get sorted before I'm even ready to think about birth. Maybe that's why I haven't packed anything yet. Oh dear.

cinnamongreyhound · 21/08/2010 21:05

Stay positive Jaysfourth especially with encouraging news from consultant. Are you family able to come and visit or are you too far away?

Don't get too excited Debs75 DS was 2 weeks late after being induced so I can't imagine this one being on time, suppose you never know though. DS said today baby will be here in 3 days, perhaps he has some abilities I never knew about!

Went to see Marmaduke today and cried my eyes out! DH said he was glad he didn't come or he'd have had to pretend not to know me. Just kept thinking about my dog and what if she got into trouble or died and that was it :(

parkj83 · 21/08/2010 21:06

Hi Jay, the obs mumbled something about scans at the next visit (which I wouldn't mind, if I make it that far!) but then contradicted himself saying that they're not as accurate as measuring my bump Hmm

Not sure about that one! All the scans I had with DS were pretty much on the money, and I honestly can't remember my bump ever being measured with DS! Confused

Fingers crossed that your LO is head down Jay, that would be good if she is, and stays more to the point!

Good luck for your appointment cluds definitely stick to your guns Wink (note to self, get some sheeting!)

Debs75 · 22/08/2010 08:13

I think we have a name!

The only offering Dp likes is Lucy, or Lucie not sure how to spell it yet. The runners up were
Katie
Amber
Alice
Freya (all time favourite and vetoed for bothe DD1 and DD2)
Her big sis are jade and Robyn and her big bro is Billy so we wanted something pretty short and simple.

skyeplusbump · 22/08/2010 08:47

awwhh,i like them all! Grin

how about:

lucy/lucie freya

that way you get to use your favorite...i love the name freya, couldnt use it as a freind already had! Sad

hows the newborn stage going?Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 22/08/2010 09:49

Amber is my favourite but I like Freya and Lucy too. Would go with Lucy with a y or she will spend the rest of her life correcting the spelling, speak from experience of a name that no-one can spell Grin

After my dream of being labour on Friday night, I dreamt of feeding my baby last night. He had fuzzy blond hair and a very round face and didn't want to feed for more than 30 seconds so I was getting very stressed. When I woke up both breasts were leaking Confused

Monstermuncher · 22/08/2010 10:12

I like Freya too - it was on my list but vetoed by DH as it is " a make of bras and knickers".

Sunny Sunday here in Glasgow so am going to try to get out and about today. People just stare at you when you are heavily pregnant, I wonder if it a fear thing that they think you are going to immediately give birth in their shopor whatever. I have become a bit of a hermit recently, not least as I am running out of clothes that actually fit me and with 2 weeks to go I refuse to buy anything else maternity sized, can't wait to be normal sized again and wear proper jeans ...

Enjoy you day everyone, its so exciting checking in on this thread, I wonder who will be next!

38 weeks today (come on baby MM, anytime now would be good)

bananastew · 22/08/2010 10:15

Morning all! Jays must be awful for you stuck in hospital! I don't think I could manage it. fingers crossed for Tuesday!

The in laws didn't stay too long. I think they got the hint when I mentioned getting ds some lunch then us both going to bed! SIL did manage to be completely rude about name choice tho. Not so sure whats wrong with Oliver but its made us more determined to use it Grin She also said she would "bung" me if I dared to had the baby on dns birthday, the 25th, I'm not sure why, there'll be a 15 year age gap & we never see them anyway!

Thought baby was coming on Fri. regular, painful, very strong BH pretty much all night. But no! I'm still here!

Debs Lucy is a beautiful name. I only know wonderful, nice, intellegent Lucys. Wouldn't be my name or anything Wink Although I agree with cinnamon about the spelling.

Well, better get on. Got my Mum, sil & dn (nice ones this time!) coming for the day. We're going to take the kids to feed the duck & out for lunch! Hope everyone has a good day.

bananastew · 22/08/2010 10:16

Oops! I'm at it too

mellymooks · 22/08/2010 15:48

Please can you help with my poll on the spelling of this name would you spell it:

Ruben or Reuben?

Thank you!! Hope you're all having lovely wknds.

skyeplusbump · 22/08/2010 16:31

i love this name! its second on my list! Grin
i find it hard to choose, but if arm is twisted i prefer

reuben

comixminx · 22/08/2010 18:20

Reuben for sure, for me. And Lucy with a y too, I'd vote for. And - I don't think of Freya as a make of underwear but as a Norse goddess personally!

Banana, I went for a walk with DP this afternoon and felt quite uncomfortable - thought maybe it was the start of things. Well who knows, it may yet be, but things have quietened down again now that I'm not walking outside in the sunshine...

39 weeks today
