Here's the new thread for the September 2010 arrivals - though some babies have already come in July and August, and maybe more to come in August before we're done with this month...

OP posts:

More new babies woohoo. hope you are on the way parkj83 and saoirse
Lucy has put on 2lbs since birth so is now 8lbs 6oz which is roughly what she should of weighed if she had stayed till full term. It does fit in with the others, 8lb8oz, 8lb5oz and 7lb15oz. she is starting to fill out and is starting to grow out of her newborn clothes, will have to dig out the 0-3 month stash.

Dixiebell · 23/09/2010 09:37

Congrats watersprite, I've updated the list for you.

Raining today! What I am going to do with myself?! Been loving sitting in the sunshine reading for the last few days.

Cluds - the hip pain is excrutiating isn't it? I was looking at my maternity notes yesterday, and I first reported it at 22 weeks. Have had no respite since. Can't believe I haven't had a decent night's sleep for about 5 months! It had better disappear immediately after birth...and at least DH will be kept up by the bubs after that, rather than by me!

Morning all.

Congrats Watersprite.

Sorry re the false alarm Park! Gutted for you.

Had my sweep yesterday and getting lots of show since - quite yukky! Lot of lower back pain and period type pain too - but no baby yet. Maybe something will start later today....

Nothing to report my end!!! Off to an Aqua Natal class at 11. This is the same class that got canceled back in July Angry. They started again last week so I'm going to go just to pass some time with other bumps though I'm sure I'll probably be the furthest gone!

Congrats sprite, not long now for the rest of us - i hope Hmm

JodeyLea · 23/09/2010 10:32

Forgot: 39+6
(I'll be able to put 40 in tomorrow as DD finally arrives)

JodeyLea · 23/09/2010 12:10

AAAARRRRGGHHHHH!!! Angry Angry Angry

After getting ready and psyching myself up for this aqua-natal class, I arrive at the local swimming baths only to be told:

"sorry, it's been canceled"

Second time I've tried to do this class and second time it has been canceled. So frustrating.

Sorry, just needed to vent! Went and bought some new tropical fish for my fish tank instead. Hoping it will have a calming influence on me!

ThatDamnDog · 23/09/2010 13:27

Hello folks :)

DD arrived on Monday night Grin

After a week in the clear (following several hospital visits/stays with pre-eclampsia concerns) the community MW wanted to check me over the weekend, and when she came on Sunday my BP was really high and I had more protein in my urine than ever before. So despite feeling fine we were admitted, and the consultant pretty much said he'd expect to arrange a C-section for me the next day. Baby was still quite high but he checked my cervix and to everyone's surprise it was soft and 1cm so they kept me in with a plan to break my waters in the morning. I started contracting regularly a couple of hours later and continued to do so overnight, and by the time they broke my waters I was 3cm.

Because of the pre-eclampsia they wanted baby out fairly quickly but because of my previous section none of us were keen for me to be induced so we had the morning to see if I got going properly before resorting to a syntocinon drip. Had to go for that in the end because not enough was happening. By 2.30pm I was getting regular contractions but managing OK with the TENS. A couple of hours later the contractions were seriously fast and hard and I was struggling so went for the G&A which was great for about ten minutes Confused and then just became a weapon with which I beat myself about the face and head for the rest of the night Grin. It was just happening too fast for me to get enough on board before the contraction peaked. Ended up having morphine at 6pm as I was still only 5cm dilated. The next couple of hours are really fuzzy (in a good way Grin - it hurt just as much but I didn't give a shit) but suddenly in the middle of the midwife's shift change at 8 I was pushing and within no time at all she came out like a bullet! My notes say 1st stage 5hrs 25 mins, 2nd stage 14 mins!

We had a blissful couple of hours left alone with tea in the delivery room, which was such a lovely contrast to my previous elective section where we didn't really get peace and I couldn't move around. Discharged within less than 24 hours and apart from a wee tear and a sore bottom I feel really good. She's feeding brilliantly and absolutely perfect. Still on a complete high but I can feel the milk coming in so I'm stockpiling tissues and chocolate for tomorrow's expected tears.

I will try to catch up with you all over the next few days :)

parkj83 · 23/09/2010 13:30

Oh no Jodey!

That's so annoying!

PS can I join in with your ARGH!!?

MW phoned me today, and I'm still getting niggles, so she insisted suggested that I go up to the hospital for monitoring. So, DH dutifully comes out from work, takes me over there, and net result?

Zip/Zilch/Nada/Niente/Nichts/Nowt (delete as applicable!)

They couldn't pick up my squeezes Hmm so therefore, they're not proper contractions...

(let me think, belly's changing shape, they're very uncomfortable, but not painful, they're regular)

Oh, I don't know. So I've had yet another S&S done, so wait and see what that does (if anything)

Poor DH, he could do without this! Confused

Congratulations ThatDamnDog!

JodeyLea · 23/09/2010 15:51

Congratulations thatdamndog. Green with envy that you have your little precious one! I want mine too!!!!!! Pllleeeeeaaassee x x

Parkj that must be really annoying and never mind poor DH, poor you too! You build yourself up thinking something has started only to be told nothing. Must have been very frustrating form you both. I really do hope that your S&S will start something definite off for you this time. Fingers crossed x x

Cluds · 23/09/2010 16:02

Huge congrats ThatDamnDog
JodeyLea how annoying for you! And parkj83 you too! Really hope something happens soon. What's an S&S? Sweep and something else?
It's a full moon tonight so if anyone believes in all that stuff tonight could be the night!

Monstermuncher · 23/09/2010 16:28

Congratulations ThatDamnDog and to Watersprite and anyone else I may have missed.

Park - I can't believe you are still hanging on, Chelle surely you must be close now? Jodeylea, keep smiling (assuming you were smiling in the first place).

Any news from MammyG?
Come on baby Cluds!

All good here, Sam is fattening up nicely but my boobs show no sign of getting any smaller yet. They are mahoosive. It must be terrifying for the poor wee soul having to square up to one of those bad boys each time he needs a feed but its not putting him off.

JodeyLea · 23/09/2010 16:29

Stretch and sweep I think it is where the MW stretches the cervix and then sweeps the membranes in the hope of triggering a response.

parkj83 · 23/09/2010 16:58

Stretch & sweep cluds :) I just couldn't be bothered to type it out several times :o

I'm getting my pool liner tonight, so going for a drive with DH. Maybe jiggling about will help things along Hmm :o

parkj83 · 23/09/2010 17:34

Just read all comments properly rather than skimming!

monster believe you me, we can't believe I'm still "at one" with Fidget! I didn't even expect to make it to my DD, or even past DH's birthday (2 days ago)

Jodey I do feel for DH so much, he's been having issues with his sinuses on and off all year, and they're kicking off again, which means he's not sleeping properly. Plus taking DS to school, and walking dogs - all this on top of working as well. He's not had any time off work since Feb apart from the odd sick day here and there, as he's saving it all up for Fidge and Xmas. He's shagged, to put it mildly! I do feel so guilty sitting here, trying not to make too much fuss and bother and trying to help around the house as well as I can

(but yes, I'm shagged too :o )

cinnamongreyhound · 23/09/2010 18:39

Congratulations ThatDamnDog! We also were left for some time in the delivery suite with Tea and ham sandwiches, one sip of tea and bite of sandwich and I was very sick, was sick constantly through first labour so wasnt too bad. We left about 4hrs after birth which I suppose wasnt too bad.

Sorry about your class JodeyLea, a swim may have relived your stress- if you give it a try again and it cancelled!!

mapletrees · 23/09/2010 18:49

Congratulations Watersprite and ThatDamnDog

Thanks Park and Cinnamon. I think you might be right on the comfort sucking front. He was the same last night (although thankfully only for a couple of hours) and when I looked closely he didn't seem to be taking any milk after a while. He's also very windy and so doesn't like to be put down on his back. I think it might all be connected so I'm going to go to a breastfeeding drop-in tomorrow and see if there's anything I can do better... (I also took your advice and went out today and bought a dummy which DP is currently attempting to pursuade Louis to take.)

I hope things get going properly for you soon Park

watersprite · 23/09/2010 18:56

Hello All and thank you :)

Congratulations thatdamedog, sending you labour vibes parkj.

Well a bit more of an update started with with really painfull tightenings at 9pm Monday night, didn't really think anything of it as these were what I was experiencing all week. Anyway they felt that they were getting stronger so went to the toilet and my waters were leaking, thought I'd peed meself at first [shocked] but then every time I sat down more came out.

Shouted to my 0/H who came running up the stairs like a headless chicken :).Rang labour ward and was told to come in,got there at 1.30am and was 4cm dilated. Midwife broke the rest of my waters and within half hr was 6cm then 8cm then within a hr was pushing Maria-ann into the world. Managed with just gas and air and it hurt ike hell but was worth every bit of pain I went through. Half way through labour there was panic because her heart rate had dropped suddenly but this was because she was engaging. Had a few stitches and a sore back but apart from that we are both doing fine :)

Good luck ladies :)

comixminx · 23/09/2010 21:20

mapletrees, my Aphra has also been sucking for quite long times; the MW came today and thought that while her latch is ok it's probably not quite totally right yet, even though she's now 3 weeks old and very nearly back to her birthweight (50 grams under). The MW's suggestion is for me to express five or six times a day to get the milk production up more, and then Aphra will get used to full boobs on my part and a quickly-filled belly on her part and will put on weight more rapidly from there. Not that you had any problems with your baby's weight gain by the sound of it!

OP posts:
parkj83 · 24/09/2010 10:55

Morning all,

Fidget is still here! Oh dear, it's getting quite tiresome now!

We got home last night after getting the pool liner (yay!) and vegged out on the sofa. DH falls asleep, and then, 10 mins later, I start to get very strong contractions... a lot stronger than anything I've had yet. So there's me thinking, do I wake him, or wait and see what happens?

I waited for a bit, and when they showed no signs of settling down or building up, I nudged him to see what he'd do... In a daze, he mumbles at me, heaves himself to his feet and staggers off to bed, where he's back in the land of nod within seconds!

Mild panic sets in on my part, so I start shuffling the furniture around to fit the pool in (we hadn't done a trial run up till now, as we didn't have the liner). An hour later, the pool is blown up, the living room looks like a bomb has hit it, and the contractions have died down slightly. So I think sod it, and go to bed.

Over night, I still got erratic but strong squeezes, and I kept feeling like I was wet but every time I checked, I couldn't feel anything, and I was too worried to get up in case my waters had broken, and I'd make a mess over the carpet Blush ... I'm still not convinced even now, but hey ho, if they're trickling, they're doing it v.e.r.y. slowly!

I pre-warned DH this morning about the living room, but he still blew his top! "Why didn't you wake me/tell me? We could have done this together! It doesn't fit there, we need to move it all around again! The kitchen's a tip, DS isn't ready for school, I don't have time for this!"

Cue sulk from me! :o

I let him rant on, as he's dreadful if he doesn't get it all out of his system (he was fine and apologised by the time he left for work) and in the midst of cursing round the house, he came up with an admittedly better solution to my jamming it behind the sofa (our initial plan)

When he left, he gave me strict instructions to tidy the kitchen only, and to leave the front room alone until he got back from work (yeah right!)

I phoned a friend and together we've tackled it all, and she's come up with an even better solution to DH's so now the front room is nigh on perfect for The Big Push... I just need my body to get itself in gear! :o

Cluds · 24/09/2010 12:06

oh park what a bummer! It must be so frustrating for you with all these contractions and yet nothing happening. Thank you for explaining what the other S was in S & S - am having mine this afternoon and really hope it brings things on...........
Congrats again watersprite - wow sounds like a quick labour, but obviously not without pain.
Can't wait to be posting my news soon...........

bananastew · 24/09/2010 13:18

Congratulations to any new arrivals since I last posted! I check every day but don't post! I can't believe we're nearing the end of September already! I'm hoping there are a lot of people on the list that haven't posted their news otherwise there are a lot of very very very over due people out there!

Things are settling down here now. Oliver now weighs 8lb 15oz & is doing really well. He's not keen on being put down tho, unless he's asleep. I've got a moby sling. Its the best thing I ever bought. I can still get things done & he doesn't cry!

Well, better go. got my SIL & family coming to stay the night so better get organised!

Come on babies!!!

StrictlyTory · 24/09/2010 14:15

Hello Grin

Clementine Arabella Elizabeth was born on the 23rd of Sept at 5.33am weighting 8 Lb 12 oz.

Doing well but not me who has to go back into hosp for a wee op as the epidural didn't work properly and some spinal fluid has travelled into my head I think.... but should all be fine soon.

parkj83 · 24/09/2010 14:34

Just had a bit of an upsetting phonecall from my mw. It wasn't intentional at all, but I'm upset all the same.

She's on holiday now for a week, as is the other mw I like :( and if Fidge doesn't pop by Tuesday, I'm going to have to go into hospital, for more monitoring, and/or doctor's appt, which may lead to possible induction or being left for a day or 2 more, and then induction.

No, no, no, it's not supposed to be like this. I know it's routine, but I'm still annoyed/upset/distressed by it, and sat here with tears rolling down my cheeks, getting squeezed to death, and nothing else productive to report. I feel sick, and thirsty, but haven't even got the energy to get dressed - I'm supposed to be getting JJ from school in 30 mins. I don't want to. I just want to curl up in a corner and cry.

Why why why won't labour kick off? I've tried everything. There's no unfinished business left to sort, everything's ready. But still I'm sat here possibly facing my idea of hell.

parkj83 · 24/09/2010 14:35

Strictly Congratulations on the birth of your LO x

Hope your op goes well too x
