Here's the new thread for the September 2010 arrivals - though some babies have already come in July and August, and maybe more to come in August before we're done with this month...

OP posts:

Cluds · 20/09/2010 09:00

catbus WOOHOO big congratulations to you!
cinnamongreyhound omg you have just reminded me how mums with newborns consider 4 hours uninterrupted sleep a good thing......maybe i shouldn't wish this little worm out just yet, and should try and enjoy the peaceful nights! I am due today, and can't see that anything is going to happen just yet, but have MW appointment tomorrow and will prob ask her for a sweep.
Good luck everyone! x

parkj83 · 20/09/2010 09:55

congratulations catbus :)

thanks for the sympathy ladies - still nothing concrete yet! I had a bath, to see if that would help, and I did get a few stronger squeezes after the bath, but nope, t'wasn't meant to be

I did sleep quite heavily last night though. I woke up a couple of times (once to find that we'd had a power cut, and our radio alarm was knocked out... I must have reset it on one of my later wakes!)

Moving about this morning, I'm getting similar squeezes, so maybe today? It's going to be fun - I have to go get DH a present... It's his birthday tomorrow! lol I wonder if Fidge wants to share...?! :o

congratulations catbus. Sounds like the perfect labour.

I know the feeling of being elated if they go 4 hours without waking!

Just top tailed them both and Jacob's scalp is flaking. Seem to remember oiliatum works for that. Best hope Isobel doesn't flake too, as Jacob has a habit of sucking on her head when he his hungry! DD shouts 'Jacob's trying to eat Isobel again!' Poor Isobel. :o

Dixiebell · 20/09/2010 10:29

Congratulations catbus. 3 hour labour, fantastic! Although I don't think that would give my DH time to get home from work...!! Chosen a name yet?

Had MW on Friday. She has so far been unable to tell me for sure which way the baby was, last time saying she couldn't feel the baby's head at all. This time she put me down for 2/5 engaged, and said she still couldn't feel the baby's head at all which she thought means it's really deeply engaged, and she thought he was facing the right way too, but she just didn't seem very certain! I like certainty! She kept saying, let me just check I haven't missed a head up the top..!!! Don't like the thought of arriving at the hospital and then them finding it's breech. I'm fairly sure from the kicks that bubs is the right way round, but nothing like making you feel worried when they say they can't feel an essential body part!! Anyone else had problems determining where the head was...?!

JodeyLea · 20/09/2010 10:40

Good morning all. Congrats catbus, wonderful news.

Thanks for the advice on the cold situation. Had the worst nights sleep ever last night. Just awful, couldn't breathe very well due to blocked nose and my head really did feel like it was going to explode. And on top of that, DH was snoring lots!!! Angry I have managed to have a lie in this morning and feel a little better. Trying to eats lots of vit C rich foods and the hot toddy was lush last night (though I think I had it a little too early, will try it right before bed tonight).

saoirse, I am due on the same day as you and feel exactly the same. Keep getting little period pains and tightening across by bump but they never build into anything regular. I was convinced that I was going to be early because of how low I have carried (virtually no heartburn), the fundal measurements always being slightly big for date and the fact my bump was all up front and huge! Everyone was saying "you'll never go full term" and of course, with it being my first pregnancy, you kind of take on board everything poeple say to you assuming they know something you don't. But no, if he/she comes before Friday I will be shocked!!! But happy shocked. I am so ready to meet my little bub.

saoirse86 · 20/09/2010 11:38

JodeyLea I've been carrying very low too and she's been 2/5 engaged since 37 weeks, and people have told me all along that there's no way I could possibly go full term because I'm so small and my bump has always been so big.
I've thought for a while we might come on the same day as we're due on the same day and both in Birmingham (one of those stupid thoughts pregnant women have I think!). I'll let you know if I start having proper regular contractions so you can prepare too!!
I've got tickets to the style thing going on in birmingham on friday so I'm hoping sod's law makes the baby come on or before friday.

mapletrees · 20/09/2010 13:01

I've been following this thread for a while, and was intending on joining when I started maternity leave and had a bit more time. However the consultant had other ideas and decided to admit me (as a precaution, thankfully) before I got chance to join. I was due on 12th Sept, but ended up having my beautiful baby boy on 1st. He's my 1st so it's all new to me, but I've found following this thread very reassuring, so thanks to everyone who's been posting. Also, congratulations to all those whose babies have arrived, and good luck to everyone still waiting.

So although I've missed the boat on the ANTE-natal part, can I join now please?

bellabelly · 20/09/2010 13:55

Welcome mapletrees and congraulations! Also, congrats to catbus - sounds like a lovely birth experience.

My girls are one week old today! The weekend was a bit manic as we gt to grips with managing all 4 kids at once with no time out for the boys at nursery but it was do-able, thank goodness!!! H and I feeling pretty knackered now though!

Ahhhh that's better Smile

Congrats Catbus mega fast labour!! Welcome to your boy - does he have a name yet?

upsoearly · 20/09/2010 14:30

Hello! I haven't posted for months but have been following closely when I've had time. Just wanted to say congratulations to all the arrivals so far, and hello to the recent newcomers on the thread.

I'm actually v jealous. I'm now 41+1 and waiting for a sweep at the hospital on Weds. Very frustrated as I had hoped to have it today and was really counting on it getting things moving, but I shall just have to be patient.

Looking forward to hearing about more arrivals soon.

Chelle1986 · 20/09/2010 14:49

Morning all - congrats to everyone who has popped there babies out since I last posted!

Well it's my due date today and I have never felt so unmotivated in my life!! Its taken me three attempts just to be bothered to put my hair up and have a shower! I really have absolutely no inclination to do anything or go anywhere today....!

Starting to get that feeling of not wanting to go anywhere on my own too incase anything happens! How pathetic am I?!
Have had a few niggly little teeny weeny pains but nothing concrete at all which is annoying.... Sad

Because of finding out about the baby so late (23+3) I've been having regular appts with the consultant at the hospital and have got an appt at 9am tomorrow to check on things. Hopefully they will do a sweep tomorrow and get some things moving. Bit worried that I've had no signs whatsoever to be honest...? Should I have not had at least SOMETHING by now? I'm a little worried that because I managed to not know I was pregnant for 5 and a half months I might miss the first labour signs too....maybe am that daft!!

Anyway - hope you are all well - and will be joining all you overdue ladies tomorrow I expect - hope you aren't too uncomfy.

Chelle.x

Chelle1986 · 20/09/2010 15:02

See how crap I am today - I just said "morning all" and its 3pm.....lol.x

Cluds · 20/09/2010 15:53

Chelle1986 you and me both! I am due today, and I can not be bothered to do anything! Dropped the boys off at school this morning and came home, pottered, tidied up, sat at the computer, had lunch and have just come back from taking the dog for a walk. I am however having loads of niggly pains, but this is my 3rd and so i think that is quite normal. Fingers crossed it won't be too long for either of us!

JodeyLea · 20/09/2010 16:35

Saoirse, it would be mad if we both went into labour on the same day! LOL! Are you going to Birmingham Womens hospital? If so, may even see you there. How mad would that be!!

One of my best friends had her 12 week scan today! Gosh, that seems like ages ago for me even though it was only march. But weirdly, time (up until the last week or so) has gone extremely fast.

Have spent this morning sorting out some tunes on my ipod. I've got everything from meditation music - funky house - cheesy pop to rock so hopefully all areas covered! Though I'll probably just want background radio noise!! Better to be prepared I suppose.

Did anyone else listen to anything specific to pass the time during the slower periods of labour?

saoirse86 · 20/09/2010 18:34

Chelle1986 I can't believe you've had no signs yet. You'll probably be one of those women who goes from first contraction to birth in about 3 hours. I hope your LO comes soon.
JodeyLea yes I'm having her at BWH. My sister's still in there after having her emcs on friday so I feel like I'm going to know every inch of the hospital and every MW by the time I'm in there for my won labour.
I was told that music you listen to during labour should be fairly up-beat to help you with contractions or something. Apparently relaxing music relaxes you too much and you need something a bit more rhythmic.

comixminx · 20/09/2010 18:41

Sassy, on the flaky skin / scalp - the midwives here have recommended olive oil plain and simple, and that's what we've been using. And it smells lovely too!

saoirse, I made two playlists for labour and didn't use either! I preferred peace and quiet in the end...

OP posts:
JodeyLea · 20/09/2010 18:48

There it is then, 'funky house' and 'cheesy pop' all the way! I'll hopefully be dancing around the birthing centre (she said naively)!

My mom was begging the MW's to switch off the television when she was in labour with me as she couldn't stand the noise! Only problem was, there was no TV in the room?? That's Gas and Air for you.

Debs75 · 20/09/2010 22:16

Welcome to all the tiny new babies.

sassy i only had gestational diabetes. been testing my sugars in a morning and they have been really good, hope they were ok today, should find out this week

watersprite · 20/09/2010 22:59

Congratulations to everyone that has had there little one's :)

saoirse86 I feel your pain i'm due 27 Sept (39 wks) and I'm so sick of the false alarms, I've had that many I've lost count :(

On Saturday I spent another day in central delivery being monitored due to tightenings every 5 mins and building with strength, even midwife said she thought this was it due to being so regular. These went on for 2hrs but altogether I put up with them at home for 4 hrs.

I've now been 2cm dilated since last Tuesday and lost my show Wednesday. I've got an appointment this Thursday for another sweep. Fed up now, my calf has swollen up and I've just been told today that I need iron tablets. Basically feel and look like s**t :(

Good luck ladies

MammyG · 21/09/2010 00:40

Gosh its mad how time has flown. just reading todays posts and its strange we are all hoping for imminent labor. Where did the time go? And why the hell wont it pass as fast now that we are staring at the finish line???

Woke up this morning with the most unmerciful leg cramp ever! Actually could not stop my leg from contorting. DH was mighty impressed (he is the sporty one so these things usually happen to him)
Have had so many niggles and discomforts but think that it is just cause its my 3rd and I have no muscle tone to speak of. Anyway all excitement today because I travel to city tomorrow for appt and sweep and possible induction on wednesday! I hope it goes ahead and they dont send me home again! Fingers crossed. Not just because I think I could go mad if I have to do another week but I have the boys sorted for minders and playschool etc. Which has taken some juggling. My mum has trapped a nerve in her neck so she cant do anything. My SIL in for cs next wed so my MIL is taken. And well no one else is free. Luckily my sister is around this week. so please please please let wednesday happen! night all

bellabelly · 21/09/2010 01:56

Oooh, MammyG - good luck! Really hope it all comes together for you on Weds!

saoirse86 · 21/09/2010 08:51

watersprite I feel for you, you must be on an emotional rollercoaster at the moment. At least I haven't had anything regular enough to make it look like things really are happening.

I had a bit of show last night and this morning. I never thought I'd be excited to be wiping up goo from my knickers!!

MammyG good luck tomorrow.

Right, I'm off to walk up and down the stairs sideways for a bit.

parkj83 · 21/09/2010 09:04

lol saoirse! I echo your sentiments, except I'm eagerly hunting for mine!

Good luck MammyG

chelle and melly - all I can say is ditto! I have no energy whatsoever, and oh my gosh I want it out NOW! If only to fix this blasted SPD, and to stop the dogs hogging me every time I move 2 inches

My SPD has been switching on and off since Saturday, so I'm really really really really hoping things are progressing. Add to that the biggest false alarm yet on Sunday, and I hope I am getting within clawing distance of Mammy's said finishing line!

I see the mw tomorrow for a routine check-up, so see what she says. She may want to come round and do a stretch/sweep (I won't say no!) so fingers x-ed for then.

Haven't caught up on the thread properly but just wanted to announce the safe arrival of Lola Eleanor Rose born on Friday 17th at 7.17am by emcs weighing 8lb13oz.

Was contracting from midnight Wednesday night/Thursday morning, through Thursday day, slowed down for a few hours between 6pm and 11pm Thursday night then ramped up again (a lot!). Went to hospital at about 1am and was 5cm when they examined me at 2am. Requested epidural! They got the epidural in by about 3.30am and I started feeling urge to push afterwards. Examined me at 4am and I was fully dilated. Doctor examined and said it seemed like I had a small pelvis and the head wouldn't fit through but I could push for an hour to see so I pushed until I thought my head would explode (!) but no baby. So they took me to theatre to prep for a section and he examined again to see if he could deliver with forceps but baby had gone back to back and the head wasn't getting through so I had a section.

But I now know why I ended up having a section with my first ds too and he said I would never have known if it was definitely my pelvis unless I tried to give birth naturally again. So now I know why at least! I don't regret giving it a go though anyway!

Lost a lot of blood and I should have had a transfusion but i felt fine and wanted to go home after the 2nd night so they let me go but said to go back if I felt weak and dizzy. I do feel like this is the worst I have felt after a section and so exhausted but I saw the midwife yesterday and she has ordered plenty of rest and an afternoon nap every day! Lucky my dh has been amazing doing everything and is helping so much. He has been a real super dad this week.

Lola is here safe and healthy anyway and that's all we care about so we are a very happy (and complete!) family now Smile
