September 2010 - arrivals already, more to come!

Here's the new thread for the September 2010 arrivals - though some babies have already come in July and August, and maybe more to come in August before we're done with this month...

Congratulations to everyone who has posted their lovely baby news in the last few days.

And I can finally announce....I had a baby BOY!! He was born on wednesday (15th) in the evening. We're calling him Finnian and he's just gorgeous and has two very proud big sisters and a very proud mummy and daddy

So, had to go into hospital at 9pm on tuesday and was put on monitor. I was having a few contractions so they decided not to use the gel. Next morning (no sleep!) more monitoring and I was contracting fairly regularly (although painlessly) so at 10am they broke my waters. I begged the docs to let me off the montitor so I could walk around and hopefully kick things off so they gave me a couple of hours during which I had NO contractions!

So onto the syntocinon drip (and getting more and more miserable about everything) and poor Finn had to have an electrode clip stuck on his head). Eventually started to get contractions and as they cranked the drip up to maximum they came thick and fast. It was a bit wild towards the end, but I managed to use just gas and air (sheer madness in hindsight!) and I think officially it was 3.5 hrs for first stage and 10 mins for 2nd! It was just so wonderful to push him out AT LAST!

And he's just perfect, and I only needed a few stitches, and we came home yesterday lunchtime. He's feeding like a barracuda.

Me too swordfishtrombones!! Still looks tiny to me though :)

aswellasyou had her little girl today at 3.08pm by emcs weighing 6lb 12oz, just one day early. She's beautiful and has a very pround auntie here!
However, I think seeing the birth process has put my imminent birth back a few days until I can start to forget about it!

Wish the MW hadn't got my hopes up that the babe would come soon as every second is dragging, I was so convinced he would come on my due date, but the clock has gone past midnight and no baby, not even a sign he might be thinking about it and now it's 2.30am in the morning and I can't bloody sleep!!

So sorry to hear bout your pooch beadit. Hope you are ok and that your LO will arrive soon.

All good here with me. Some period pains throughout the day but nothing major so don't think this LO will make an early appearance! I am suffering with a mild throat infection at the mo too which is irritating after being so well throughout the whole pregnancy, boo!!!

Hoping to read lots more birth announcements over the weekend. Good luck girls x

Thanks for the advice about constant overnight feeding - dunno if it was coincidence, better burping, or the end of the growth spurt but a much better night's sleep with DD was had last night! Fingers crossed that it continues.

Ooooh, I'm getting so antsy now! I'm full term today, and very very very very very very keen to meet Fidget! :o (I'm feeling left out!) I'm also getting anxious that I'm going to go over my alloted time for the doula...

Swordfish - Finn was my boys name this time round and I was convinced I was having a boy! I almost morn Finn Alexander that will never be! However Belle is perfect... so can't complain!

I seem to have a very windy girl like alot of others on here. She seems ok during the day its more at night. She'll do a couple of big burps but still seem full of wind. I think my milk may be spraying out too fast so she has to gulp it down... but nothing I can do about that!

Park - I was conviced I'd be early this time. I had DS at 39 wks and DD1 at 39 +3. However belle waited until 40+1 and that was frustrating enough! Never mind you poor girls who have gone nearly 2 weeks over!

Will update list now as I got Belles birth weight wrong! Confusion in the convertion of kg to lbs!

Too tired to post more.

Ok, so my "mild throat infection" has actually turned out to be a rotten cold!!!! Aaarrgghh! So close to DD too. Feel like total crap, getting BH, continually disturbed sleep (with peeing, drinking water, blowing nose and trying to turn over) and my head and neck feel like they are loaded with heavy lead.

Does anyone have any useful remedies other than paracetamol and hot honey and lemon drinks? Feel totally miserable today.

Oh JodeyLea how rotten for you! A steaming hot shower often helps me with my nose and chest if i am bunged up (especially in the middle of the night). Spicy food also really helps, lots (AND LOTS) of water and maybe a wee Hot Toddy before bed (warmed up whiskey, lemon, honey and i think it's ginger ale, but i might be wrong). Other than that, don't do anything! Lie on the sofa, and watch TV, read, just try and conserve your energy. Not long till your due date now so you really need to try and relas (i know, easier said than done!).

AIBU to consider putting baby rice in Olivers bedtime bottle?? I mean, come on, he's nearly 3 weeks old now. Surely he should be sleeping through by now! I need sleep!!!

Help!

I've had intermittant bouts of contractions since 5.30 this morning, but they're not building into anything :(

I get 1/2 - 1 hour bouts of good ones for 3 min intervals, and then they fizzle to BHs, one here, one there, and then another bout for 1/2 to 1 hour...

Oh, I'm so tired, and want to get on with it!

Any tips?! Or spare labour vibes you can send me?!

Oh Park you must be exhausted. Folk will tell you to rest at this time but thats not easy I know. I hope things progress a bit more quickly for you soon.

Congrats to Swordfish (fab name) and Aswellasyou, I hope you and your new arrivals are doing well.

Thanks for those who posted congratulations, Sam continues to feed like a mad thing, its very different from when I had DD but I am finding the bfeeding much easier thank goodness. My boobs however are truly enormous, I'm hoping they start to subside a bit soon.

Me too Monstermuncher, I think it's a combination of me knowing a good latch, my nipples no longer being inverted and Luke feeding for much less time than DS1. My first was a true milk monster and when he was weighed at 6 days old had put on 4oz. Had Luke weighed today and he's only lost 1/2oz so pretty good too. My milk also came in earlier this time and I haven't been as engorged this time and I was before so a combination of everything has made it easier I think.

I had lots of contractions that came to nothing parkj83. No advice but just think each one is bringing your baby closer even if it doesn't feel like it. Hope you get some rest soon.

I second cluds, JodeyLea about the hot toddy. I had a horrible cold in my second trimester and DH suggested I add whiskey to my hot honey and lemon drink, I felt guilty as I rarely drink anyway but it did help me to sleep despite being so bunged up and its not a huge amount of alcohol.

Lucy has a cold. She is bunged up and struggling to feed. We were up every hour last night. I can't use olbas oil to unstuff her nose, although all the other dc's are using it so she will get a bit of benefit. Luckily she hasn't a temp as I don't have any calpol.

Took her out on Saturday in her Wilkinet and she loved it. She snuggled up and slept for the 2 hours she was in it. She was well wrapped up so don't think it add ed to her cold.

Park lots of contractions which didn't do anything, I know how that felt. Any rest you can get take it, otherwise try and stay active, going upstairs sideways helps. Here's hoping you don't need any advice and are in the throes of labour now.

Ds1 had a horrible cold when he was tiny Debs75 and I was prescribed saline nasal drops they worked a treat! You just squirt them into each nostril before a feed and it clears them for bit so they can breathe. I also used snuggle babe, which the pharmacist at the time said was fine. Hope she's better soon.

I'm due on 24th and I'm already really fed up. I know it's partly because my sister's had her DD now. She had nothing before her waters breaking and then still nothing until 41 hours after her waters breaking.
I've been having loads of signs of labour coming on over the last 2-3 weeks but it all just comes to nothing. I woke up this morning absolutely convinced it was going to happen today with all my symptoms, but they just fizzled away again.
I know I'm not due for another 5 days but I'm just so ready to get her out now. I feel really frustrated, especially knowing it could even be 3 weeks yet. I don't think I'd mind so much if I didn't keep getting false alarms.
I've done everything I can think of to get things going properly.
Is anyone else getting this frustrated with it all?

Well, after over 2 weeks of being fully engaged, Our 4th DC, a boy, arrived at home as planned in the small hours of Saturday 18th. 3 hour labour, half of which I was still not sure were 'proper contractions'.

And I even had one of the MWs who was there at the delivery of my first DC, 11 odd years ago!

Probably the most intense, yet easiest of the lot! He is perfect, obviously, and we are all so thrilled!!

Still can't believe he is here: was booked in for an induction today too! Feeling remarkably sane, despite the worst afterpains I have ever felt.
