Here's the new thread for the September 2010 arrivals - though some babies have already come in July and August, and maybe more to come in August before we're done with this month...

Hi all

I haven't caught up with the thread yet but I am sure there are a few new arrivals so congrats to all the new mummies and best wishes to those still waiting!

My gorgeous boy Sam arrived on 15th. He was born by c section at 10.00 following a 29 hour labour which just didn't progress. Feeding like a mad thing, I am completely smitten :)

parkj83 · 16/09/2010 12:21

Congratulations Monster!

bluebell4 · 16/09/2010 16:55

Thanks Dixiebell. Congrats to all the new arrivals. Hope the rest of us aren't waiting too long

watersprite · 16/09/2010 19:49

Hi,

Congratulations to all the new arrivals. Not had chance to catch up on thread yet.

Just a quick up date really, Had my 38 wk check at hospital as my midwife wouldn't examine me at the GP's when I went at 37 wks as I'm under a different hospital. Anyway been having tightenings for as long as I can remember now with period type cramp. Sat in the hospital waiting to be checked and the tightening start to get a bit in tence, consultant examine me and I was 1-2cm dilated :) she preformed a sweep and said I could stay or go home. I decided to go home but was back that evening with tightenings every 5 mins, only for them to slacken off:( Got re-examined and was still 1-2cm dilated so sent back home.

Wednesday tightenings started up again a lond with period type cramp and bk ache,(TMI sorry) lost some dark blood in the morning then half of my show at tea time then all of it at midnight.

Today 38+3 tightenings start for a good few hrs and have been off and on all day. I'm really hopeing something more will happen soon as I'm so tired with the lack of sleep :(

Good luck everyone and I hope your little one's arrive soon x

Debs75 · 16/09/2010 20:09

Congratulations to the new arrivals.
cinamon with my 1st my boobs went like rock hard footballs when my milk came in. With the rest they just got really firm but comfortable.
With dc3 I was told that when your boobs go really hard it is your body absorbing the fat content of the milk which is why they go hard when you miss a feed. Not totally sure if true but you never know.

cinnamongreyhound · 16/09/2010 21:11

Congratulations monstermuncher!!

Good luck watersprite, thinking labour thoughts for you.

Thanks Debs75, my milk has definitely come in today but it's nowhere near as uncomfortable as with ds1 so hoping it stays that way!

MammyG · 16/09/2010 22:39

Hellew - They are coming fast and furious now!
Lol Dixie on feeling left out! Me too. Will just have to wait it out together. Delighted to see so many of you with your new babies still checking in! Glad I wont be announcing to an empty thread!Grin
Bella & Monster Huge congrats! Bella they were great sizes for twins!
chathappy hope all is progressing well.
I am a knackered lump. Just not able for anything and was so teary last night and all day today. Am not one of those people who copes well with not being able to do things. Still must just keep fingers crossed it passes quickly. (before DH does a runner!)

beaditAli · 17/09/2010 08:44

Huge huge congrats to monster and bella Wonderful for both of you Grin
Just a quick update that my induction is booked for the 26th so come on baby
We said a very sad goodbye to our poochy yesterday so have spent most of the hours since then sobbing my heart out. Sad Sad Sad The only way of stopping is is for this little man to make his appearance! I need something to love.
Rest in peace you gorgeous, gorgeous hound xXx and hurry up baby
40+3

parkj83 · 17/09/2010 09:18

Oh beadit I'm sorry xxx

saoirse86 · 17/09/2010 09:29

My sister aswellasyou is now 39+6. Her waters broke at 9.30 on wednesday morning. She had a sweep at midday on wednesday, went back to the hospital thursday afternoon for monitoring but no contractions at all. She eventually (reluctantly) agreed to a pessary to be inserted this morning.
She needs plenty of good labour vibes please! Hopefully we'll have another announcement today or tomorrow. I can't wait. I'm also kind of hoping this will kick my body off too.
Good luck to everyone else who's still waiting.

39 weeks today

cinnamongreyhound · 17/09/2010 09:31

That's really sad beaditAli, I'm sorry.

comixminx · 17/09/2010 10:20

Anyone else been bf'ing and finding that the baby just constantly feeds? Aphra feeds well at night but seriously, I fed her with only small breaks almost all night last night... and the same the night before, and the night before that. A few nights earlier, we had it where she was feeding well, then sleeping for 3 hours or so, then feeding again. Is there anything we can try to do differently?

OP posts:
Debs75 · 17/09/2010 12:13

comixminx it is probably a growth spurt. Lucy did it for a week then since she has settled a lot better and i am getting 3 hour chunks of sleep overnight. The best thing to do is to keep feeding as she is boosting your supply, especially with through the night feeds.

beaditali sorry to hear about your dog

bellabelly · 17/09/2010 12:51

Hello all, in my slighly exhausted state, I can't work out how to post just one or two pics to my mumsnet profile! So I'm just sharing a link to my facebook albumn (if the link works!) for anyone who'd like to see some pics. Warning for the squeamish - there is one that DH took of the c-sect, it makes me feel a bit faint to look at it...

link

Hoping for news of more new arrivals soon!

Cluds · 17/09/2010 12:59

bellabelly you look fantastic and the twins look gorgeous!
beaditAli so sorry about your dog xx

comixminx · 17/09/2010 14:55

Thanks Debs - I'd assumed it must be a growth spurt but for some reason thought they only lasted a day or two!! A week, dayummmmm.... I will keep on, not much option really, and just look forward to it getting better.

sassy34264 · 17/09/2010 15:22

Congratulations to everyone with a new arrival.
bella Your girls are lovely! How lucky you are to have had two boys and now 2 girls.

I wish more people would post pics as i love looking.

comixminx I know you didn't ask, so ignore me if you like. :o
If she is rooting that much, i'd be thinking is she getting enough each time or is it just wind? Mine root sometimes about an hour after feeding and then when i burp them they stop. Also if you're not against dummies (i know some are) i'd be tempted to introduce one (every now and again) before your nipples drop off!

sassy34264 · 17/09/2010 15:33

debs I have the gtt test again next week. Do you have to have it too? Can't remember if yours is gestational or if you have diabetes normally.

cinnamongreyhound · 17/09/2010 15:37

I would tend to agree with sassy34264 that perhaps she isn't looking for a feed but just windy. They do suck on fists to help wind out as well as when hungry. As Debs75 says night feeds are most important for keeping your milk supply up so it may be she's trying to make more milk but just be aware of feeding her every time she cries to save your nipples and sanity! Hope you get more sleep soon.

comixminx · 17/09/2010 18:43

Thanks for the suggestions, sassy and cinnamon - everything is welcome! I hope it is a growth spurt rather than wind as that would resolve itself (plus she's only small so it would be good to see her put back the last bit of her lost weight to get back to her birthweight). I do normally burp her after a feed but in the middle of the night I guess I might be a bit less diligent about it. She doesn't seem to burp all that often after a feed so maybe I ought to pat her more firmly / for longer? She does sound like she's slurping it down well - you can hear it glugging into her and you can see her jaw moving near the ear and so forth.

I thought the advice was not to introduce a dummy until bfing was established? Maybe if it's only every now and then it won't matter?

I'm also wondering if we're letting ourselves in for difficulties by holding her all the time rather than putting her in the moses basket / baby hammock to let her sleep? She sleeps very well when cuddled or on one of our laps, but when we put her by herself she stirs and wakes quite often. We've got her co-sleeping in our bed for bf'ing purposes for now although we do aim to get her used to sleeping separately but in our room soon. When that will be, I have no idea!

bananastew · 17/09/2010 20:03

Congratulations bellabelly they're beautiful! Its a bit strange now, you actually have a face Grin

Congrats monster and beadit so sorry about your dog, hope baby arrives soon!

We're getting stuck in to life with a new born! I'm finding it a bit strange tho as Oliver is the absolute double of his brother when he was born! It's like I've gone back in time, then ds walks in all big and 2 and reminds me that it is a totally different baby who will develop his very own personality. It even feels strange calling him Oliver! I keep wanting to call him Toby! (ds1)

Cinnamon I didn't know that about rooting when they have wind. I'm ff Oliver & he just seems to be permanently hungry but when I offer him the bottle he has 2 sucks then stops, has a good burp & settles! He's also a tummy sleeper! I'm having a few issues with this one but for the sake of my sanity I'm having to give in. I sleep on the edge of the bed with his crib pulled up close so I can almost feel his breath! Still not overly keen tho!

cinnamongreyhound · 17/09/2010 20:37

That's what I've heard comixminx about any kind of teat but then I am anti dummies anyway despite the more recent advice about dummies reducing the risk of cot death. I have to say I'm harsher with Luke at night and do leave him to cry when I know he has a clean nappy, full tummy and has been winded but in the day I'm more likely to pick him up and cuddle him back to sleep. I never had ds1 in our bed and don't intend to this time but if it's what you want to do it works for a lot of people. One tip is when you do put them down wrap them in something as they feel cold when put down as they've been right next to you getting your heat. Always worked with ds1 and so far this time too.

My friend put her second on her tummy to sleep *banana

cinnamongreyhound · 17/09/2010 20:44

Using my iPhone and it's behaving strangely!! bananastew sorry was trying to say she wouldn't sleep any other way. It made her nervous but better than no sleep at all- she's a very stroppy 2 year old now!! Luke definitely eats less than ds1 at each feed which is strange, his appetite is satisfied much easier and he's not spending 45mins-1hr feeding each time Grin
