Here's the new thread for the September 2010 arrivals - though some babies have already come in July and August, and maybe more to come in August before we're done with this month...

Congrats skatergrrrl!!
And how exciting for your LadyRabbit to know that you will be holding your brand new baby later today!!
DS1 and DS2 at long last went back to school today so I have a completely relaxing day ahead of me (apart from walking the dog and going to the shops). Took both boys to Chessington yesterday and they wouldn't let me on any of the rides which was a bit dull, but the boys had a fantastic day which was just what i wanted them to have.
Lots of false labour/braxton hicks going on but no other news, so now just waiting!
Good luck to everyone!

Good luck LadyRabbit!

Thanks to everyone for letting me moan, and unmumsnetty hugs to all the others in the 'overdue and fed up' boat. It's such a shame we can't just form an orderly queue and get our babies On Time!

I've got until next tuesday to get things moving so any tips, however obscure, let me know. I draw the line at drinking castor oil though - no thanks!

Have just realised that DD1 has an INSET day tomorrow so isn't at school. So that's another day when it would be a bit awkward to go into labour. Still, at least I'll have company and can go out for lunch. The midwife recommended trying to relax and plan some nice things like lunches out, but everyone seems to be working.

Do you think a trip to Ikea would be enough to start things off? I'm not sure I could face it though.

Hi folks :)

Have just read through the thread to try and catch up - congrats on the new arrivals and sympathies to the overdue people.

Especially to sassy, you're having a time of it with willies in jars and feeding and stuff - poor you!

After Friday's shenanigans with my weird rash and fever and muscles all opening up, and Sunday's crazy swelling up, I developed a blinding headache on Monday night which was still there in the morning. When my BP and urine was checked BP was high and there was protein in my pee so off I went to the ward and didn't get out until last night. Basically my BP is OK but my bloods are borderline for pre-eclampsia so I have to go back tomorrow for more monitoring and bloods. I think the likelihood of developing it in a second pregnancy if you didn't have it first time round (and it's the same father) is really tiny, so I guess as usual I'm just an awkward case!

Anyway, feeling fine but if things worsen I won't get my VBAC, I reckon he'll just want to cut to the chase and go for another section. Just really want to be signed off tomorrow although the likelihood of this is, er, nil! Had a long chat with lovely CMW who suggested eating the woody bit from inside 80 pineapples and sex ... well, ladies, desperate times call for desperate measures I guess ... Grin

Hope you all have a nice day - sun shining here :)

Hello everyone!
Good luck today ladyrabbit

39 weeks today!! Suddenly seems real and close that I am actually going to have a baby!!!

My friend has just been round with her 4 week old baby girl ahhhhhhhh she is so tiny and was in the sling and I felt all tearful, really concious of trying to soak in every moment of the teeny tiny squidgey baby stage as I know how fast it goes and this is my last baby so I need to make the most of it!

cinnamongreyhound · 09/09/2010 12:18

Hope all goes well LadyRabbit, and I think excited and terrified are very normal feelings!

I have been recommended by someone on a different thread to try a romantic comedy film, to get oxytocin levels up and lots of fast walking Swordfishtrombones. Midwife suggested sex and after all the contractions I had yesterday I guess my sweep Tuesday, followed by sex in the evening did something just not enough to actually get the baby out :(
Am also bouncing on my ball in the evenings, not really convinced by all the things you can eat to be honest. There's always nipple tweaking but from what I've ready you need to do it a lot to have any effect! Trip round Ikea can't hurt Grin

Sorry to hear your news ThatDamnDog, fingers crossed you still get your VBAC.

beaditAli · 09/09/2010 12:47

Oh...... and what does one do with this time other than constantly look up baby names online??
Am trying so hard NOT to do my tax return. I think I'll be the last one on the planet this year to get mine sent in. Also trying madly to ignore the mess that has become my work bench. Good thing it's hidden on the third floor of the house so I can shut the door and ignore it all. Grin
Have barely had any practice contractions or any real pains to speak of so having listened to everyone tell me how early I'd be, I'm now convinced I'll be joining all you overdue lovelies.
Really hoping it happens for you all really soon. I just can't imagine going days and days over...... must be very frustrating.Sad
Think I'll go and mop the kitchen floor whilst pooch is at the vets. People say last minute nesting is a sign...... fingers crossed as cleaning really isn't my thing!
Good Luck to all those overdue. You'll be Grin soon!

beaditAli · 09/09/2010 12:48

Forgot as usual.... 39+2

cinnamongreyhound · 09/09/2010 12:55

Oh, one more Swordfishtrombones several people have suggested I clean my windows!!

Do tax return now beaditAli! Better to get it out of the way, I have done all my figures just got to fill in the form. SInce I have been overdue haven't really thought about much else.

beaditAli · 09/09/2010 13:02

cinnamongreyhound.... send some of your mental concentration pleeeease!
I am marking boy's names out of 10 rather than doing my work! Really need to snap out of it! Smile

Swordfishtrombones · 09/09/2010 13:04

Thanks Cinnamon - funnily enough I have just cleaned the windows! Very vigorously too. And in a minute I'll lug the vacuum upstairs for a good old hoover as well. As for fast walking I have to take DD1 up a killer of a hill to school every am and pm, and today I was practically marching to make sure baby is well and truly jolted into position.

Not that it has worked yet.

Back to the raspberry leaf tea then.

PickleSarnie · 09/09/2010 13:50

Wow! It's a baby bonanza! Congrats to all those with brand new babies.

Swordfishtrombone, I'd give Ikea a miss. Purely because I've not heard of them giving free stuff if your waters break whilst there! Make yourself comfy in Tesco or Asda instead. Apparently they hand out free year supplies of nappies. Might get some strange looks from security if it takes time though.

Just been to midwife and she said that I'm now engaged. But there was no x/5 measurement on my notes. Does that mean I'm totally engaged?

cathn · 09/09/2010 14:12

Congratulations to all the latest arrivals! Such an exciting time :)

Had a checkup with my midwife today and all was fine and I've been officially booked and approved for the MW-led unit (much nicer than the 'normal' delivery suite) :) This approval was pending a growth scan I had last week, which, thankfully, showed all was fine. So very happy about that.

However, MW said that baby's head still isn't engaged. I know it's normal for 2nd and later babies not to engage until labour, but this is my first and I was wondering how common it is not to engage until labour with a 1st baby and/or know the reasons why this might happen?

Did any of you not engage until labour with your 1st baby?

I am 38+5 by the way, so hoping for some reassuring comments that just because I'm not engaged this doesn't mean labour is still ages away!

cinnamongreyhound · 09/09/2010 14:23

My first didn't engage cathn but I can't give you reassuring comments about labour not being ages away I'm afraid as I was induced at 40+12 with him. All turned out ok and I had a vaginal delivery without assistance, although I ended up needing syntocinon and had an epidural. This one isn't engaged either so maybe my babies just don't bother with that bit until later Wink

skyeplusbump · 09/09/2010 16:35

sending labour vibes...convinced someones going to pop tonight Grin

sassy whats all this about willys in jars??!! did i miss something? Confused

parkj83 · 09/09/2010 16:46

skye oh please, let it be me!!

Good luck LadyRabbit hope everything goes smoothly :)

The cmw came over yesterday and managed to annoy me terribly - she kept banging on about the facilities at the hospital, and picked holes about what I've got here at home Hmm And she kept waffling about what to do if I go over, my thoughts about induction etc etc. (Not if I can help it!)

And then had the cheek to go on to say how happy "all us cmws are to attend home births", and she'd be happy to attend me... I don't think so!

Hello?! If I wanted a hospital birth, I'd have planned for one! I thought she was ok when I saw her in the surgery, but now she's come onto my turf and poo-poohed everything, I'm not so sure.

I do think I'm going to end up seeing the consultant tomorrow, but I'm feeling quite good about it. He's treated me for a condition before, and he'll tell me straight.

sassy34264 · 09/09/2010 16:55

I thought it was you park. You post a lot and was thinking this morning i'd not seen you post. Will send labour vibes your way. :)

skye Jacob and Isobel had to give urine samples at hospital and i had to sit there with Isobel sat in a cardboard boat with no nappy on and Jacob on my knee with his illy hanging inside a sample jar! It did cross our minds ton take a picture and use it against them when they're horrible teenagers but we couldn't be so cruel! :)

bellabelly · 09/09/2010 17:01

Applause please - I have just packed my hospital bag! In fact 2 bags - one for me and one for the babies! Am now uber-organised mum-to-be... Hmm

Anyone suffering horribly with piles? Any handy tips about dealing with them? TMI but I have got them and they bloody hurt. Come back heartburn, all is forgiven!

sassy34264 · 09/09/2010 17:03

sorry for the mistakes. Had one baby or the other on my knee nearly all day. They are both struggling with wind today.

parkj83 · 09/09/2010 17:05

Thanks sassy

Blush I have a bit too much free time on my hands...!

I'm kind-of glued to the laptop during the day, as my SPD means I can't go out quite as much as I'd like to (that's my excuse, anyway! :o ) Serioiusly, I was in agony on Tuesday night, and all I'd done was go to the chiropractor, then to mw appt, then picked up DS from school. I didn't even walk that far, but bloody hell did I pay for it.

I've been feeling a bit grotty the past couple of days though, and wasn't really in the mood/didn't want to whinge too much, so I've been just skulking... believe you me, if things were moving along, I think I'd post it on here before texting DH or my doula! :o

Am really really keen to get things going, if only to shake of this blasted SPD Confused I hate not being able to do much!

parkj83 · 09/09/2010 17:09

Yes! bellabelly I can sympathise. Sounds stupidly obvious, but don't strain. I'm on iron tablets, so that doesn't help much either. Do you have any lactulose to help?

And well done for packing your bag :)

It took for us to go to lunch with DH's cousin, an hour's drive away, for me to pack an emergency bag! Blush

skyeplusbump · 09/09/2010 17:15

lol at sassy you really should have taken that picture! Grin

park its driving me mental at the moment as although ive shaken the spd i still cant bloody DO anything...stitches make me waddle like a duck...think it might nearly be over though,im going to try to get to toddler group tomorrow with dd...should be interesting Hmm

right, now i really must put all that washing awayHmm Grin

bellabelly · 09/09/2010 17:20

Thanks park - I will get some, willing to tr anything! I'm on iron tabets too but the piles developed while I'd stopped (my prescription had run out and hadn't got round to ordering more). So until yesterday, I literally hadn't taken any for about a week. Thik it's just the pressure of my bump pushing everything down were it's not supposed to go! God knows what is happening to my pelvic floor... Oh the glamour!

parkj83 · 09/09/2010 17:21

Skye I'm thinking after the slice and dice I had with DS, if I have stitches with this one, there's no way they can be as bad! (touches wood)

JodeyLea · 09/09/2010 17:23

Ok, so I've read that signs of your baby being engaged are:

1 Swelling of the feet and ankles due to pressure on blood vessels

2 Needing to pee and poo more due to extra pressure on the bladder and bowels

3 Sharp twinges around your pelvic floor muscle as it softens etc.

I've been getting all the above since Saturday. The insides of my feet swole overnight totally out of the blue. Does this mean my baby is engaged or is this wishful thinking on my part????? And also, how do they know when and by how much your baby is engaged? Is it an internal exam or can they tell just by feel???

And thanks for the Gel Soothers tip BEADITALI, I've got some sport injury ice packs in the freezer so will try them out tonight.

Went to a 2 hour breast feeding workshop today which was a total waste of time. Didn't learn anything new to what i had already researched so looks like the best way to learn is by trial and error so will now stop stressing aboput latching on and sore nipples until a problem arrises once baby is born.

parkj83 · 09/09/2010 17:25

bella mine appeared overnight, and tbh I'm too Blush to tell mw or doctor, so I have no idea what's best really - that's what works for me!

I'm surprised you weren't prescribed some lactulose when you were given the iron tablets though, as iron has a habit of bunging you up! I was given mine as standard... ask your GP for it, then you get it free. It's a bit pricey otherwise. Wink
