Here's the new thread for the September 2010 arrivals - though some babies have already come in July and August, and maybe more to come in August before we're done with this month...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PickleSarnie · 09/09/2010 17:36

JodeyLea, my midwife just prodded around (really quite painfully) my nether regions to figure out whether or not the baby was engaged.

I still don't know how they're able to tell what end the head is at - it all feels the same to me!

PickleSarnie · 09/09/2010 17:37

Sorry, meant to say that the prodding was all done externally!

sassy34264 · 09/09/2010 17:55

It wasn't a criticism park (sorry if it sounded that way). Just meant i noticed you'd been absent and was thinking ooooooh, she might be in the throes! :o :o :o

JodeyLea · 09/09/2010 19:17

PickleSarnie(just typing that has actually made me fancy some pickled onions - yum), thanks for that. Got a mw app next wednesday so hopefully she'll be able to confirm if the baby is engaged. Fingers crossed.

38 (tomorrow)

cinnamongreyhound · 09/09/2010 19:26

It's all done through your abdonmen JodeyLea, nothing internal. My baby is totally free so it's very easy as head isn't near to my pelvis. Guess its a bit more uncomfortable if the head is in the pelvis as it will take more prodding!

Sorry to hear about your experience with the midwife parkj83, she didn't sound very supportive at all :(

Debs75 · 09/09/2010 19:51

Congratulations Skatergirl

Sassy you are doing well with feeding twins and having to deal with hospital appts as well, Catching wee is never easyGrin Glad you have been able to manage a tandem feed or two. I'm sure it will get easier.

Lucy has been having a growth spurt so we are feeding almost every 2 hours now. It is working as she is putting on an oz a day and is now 7lb2oz.
Registered her birth today, her full name is Lucy Phillippa Alice

parkj83 · 09/09/2010 20:06

lol I know sassy I didn't take it that way Wink :o So far, it's wishful thinking...! (grabbing on to all those vibes for dear life!)

Cinnamon she's not my regular mw thank goodness. My regular one was on a course, and she's very pro homebirth, and very happy with my home too :)

MammyG · 09/09/2010 21:10

Hellew - its all going on now!
Ladyrabbit how are you?
Cluds - my iron was up one whole point this week and the MW was asking how I did it at this stage. I started taking it in the middle of the night with oj. Apparently its best taken with no food and as I eat all day long that was hard. Am waking up every night between 3 and 5 so take my tabs then. It must have helped them absorb better.
Monster - wonder if there will be many children named Benedict after the visit! The pope visited ireland in 1979 and my brother and half his year in school were all some versions of john paul!
LO gave me a run for my money today. Went to gp to have heartbeat checked as she was too quiet today. All well thank God then went out for supper with DH and for an hour after was so uncomfortable. Thought things were hetting up but am now back to normal. Its mad to be so impatient but I suppose these LO's are already in our hearts and part of our families we just want to hold them now.

Was chatting to DH yesterday and telling him about babies born etc. and he laughed at how strange it is that I only know your thread names etc. (it must seem so odd to him!) and I just realised how on one hand we know each other so little and on the other have shared so much. I have found you all a tremendous source of support, humour and goodwill over the past nine months and honestly would have felt very lonely with out ye. Just wanted to say a huge thanks :)

bellabelly · 09/09/2010 21:14

Awww, MammyG, that is lovely - you've made me go a bit misty eyed (hormonal wreck that I am). I do hope we'll all manage to keep up a post-natal thread once all the sprogs have arrived!

Cluds · 09/09/2010 22:42

mammyg don't go saying things like that as i too, like bellabelly am riding a hormone rollercoaster at the mo! Such lovely words!
Look at you with your iron up a whole point this week!! Woohoo! Good advice re taking in the night with oj. I too got my results and i am now 10.3!! So hb for me!! Yey! Feel really happy.

That's lovely MammyG, and about the babies being in our hearts and families too. It's great having others in the same boat to share with and ask daft questions to!

I am still waiting, dh has a horrible tooth infection and begged me last night not to go into labour- like I have any control at all!!! Midwife is coming this morning for another sweep so fingers crossed. Hope everyone else is feeling ok.

41+3/ 40+10 not really sure most correct way!

Swordfishtrombones · 10/09/2010 09:01

Morning all
Yup, still here too. I feel great, but not like I'm in any danger of going into labour Angry.

I'm going to place a bet on sunday for this LO to come out. Most of my sisters' children have been 10 days late, and so was DD1 so maybe it's just a weird family thing and we all have ultra comfy pelvises or something.

Unfortunately I have found a wonderful way to pass the time by baking, and then of course eating everything I've made. I've managed to not put much weight on this pregnancy but it could all fail at the last minute. Especially with the scones with jam and clotted cream. yum!

I'm taking comfort in the thought that whatever happens I will have had this baby by the end of next week as I'm due to be induced wednesday morning.

cinnamon - have you got an induction booked?

JodeyLea · 10/09/2010 09:25

Must be so frustrating being overdue. I've got two weeks before due date and labour is already consuming my every thought so can't imagine being over due (though I think I will in a couple of weeks). My sister had to be induced after two weeks of baby refusing to come out of his snuggly home.

MammyG, such lovely words and so true x x

My swollen feet have really gone down this morning. Still a little swollen but nothing like they were! Strange. Hands still feel like podgy sausages though. Had a really good night's sleep and ready to face to world today.

Hope you are are all feeling well this morning.

Monstermuncher · 10/09/2010 10:32

hello, just checking in with my fellow overduees.

Feeling ragged this morning, I just couldn't sleep last night. I had really strong BH's for 2 hours which faded to nothing. I am now totally fed up. Why won't he come OUT?

cinnamongreyhound · 10/09/2010 10:32

I am waiting for the midwife to give me another sweep some time this morning and then she's booking me an induction Sunday or Monday swordfishtrombones, so should know more by the end of the day.

parkj83 · 10/09/2010 10:44

Morning all!

I feel exactly the same Mammy but sod it, you made me cry! Wink

Hi monster, ditto! After switching off the PC yesterday, I got some nice regular squeezes, so I added pineapple and RLT, but an hour later, they fizzled out... Argh!!

I saw my preferred consultant today, and I'm on a real high - he's happy, the mw in attendance was happy, and s'all goooood! He had a poke and a prod, and said he didn't want to see me again unless I go badly overdue: such a difference of attitude and opinion to the last guy :) :) :)

LadyRabbit · 10/09/2010 10:57

Hello
our little boy arrived yesterday morning.
He is the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me. Still a bit high on the very very nice drugs so will be brief, but all went well, he's already been latching on and I am writing one handed while he's asleep in my arms.
Will post more in a few days. Hope everyone's doing well and those of you still due, it's worth the wait!!!
LR x

parkj83 · 10/09/2010 11:01

Congratulations LadyRabbit :)

look forward to hearing a bit more Wink x

ooosabeauta · 10/09/2010 11:04

Sorry for everyone overdue! I'd assumed that that wouldn't happen to me because I thought second ones usually came earlier than firsts, and ds was on due date, but I've met two people in the last couple of days who had their second dcs later than their firsts. Am coming to terms with potentially another four weeks ish of this Shock

JodeyLea that list of engagement symptoms is really interesting - I'd ever seen it written down but I'd say that's exactly how it's felt this time since baby has been engaged, so it's pretty accurate! I had my growth scan yesterday which showed that the fundal height is low because the baby is on the smallish side and low down in the pelvis now. They estimated she's about 6lb 6oz now, which is 24th percentile, but I'm on the small side, when I'm not pregnant!

Weird last minute urge which I wonder whether anyone else has had... for the last couple of days, I've really wanted to do the birth on my own in the hospital! My dh would be gutted if he knew, but I think it's my way of trying to make it less of an event IYKWIM. I know the birth should be an event but my last one was such a to-do that I kind of want to get past it uneventfully. Is this weird?! I've even suggested that dh goes to visit his family this weekend because it might be his last chance for a while. I reckon I'd probably be a bit scared in reality if it happens while he's away, but it's a strange impulse at the moment!

Those were lovely words MammyG. I feel the same in the although we all don't know each other, I have a clearish picture of the regular posters in my mind. When I read your posts I imagine you with a lovely Irish lilt in your voice, which I'm guessing is a fair assumption Smile

Hope to be reading about some new arrivals soon, and congratulations to anyone I've missed since last posting Grin

Monstermuncher · 10/09/2010 11:20

Congratulations Ladyrabbit, you sound so happy. Makes me feel like total grump for having a moan when I read posts like yours and MammyG's. Its a fantasic magical thing thats happening, I just sometimes need to remind myself :)

Cluds · 10/09/2010 11:33

Yippee and huge congrats to LadyRabbit x

heather1980 · 10/09/2010 12:50

just to let you all know that samual jonathan was born at home yesterday at 9:27am weighing in at 7lb 13oz. all went well, he needed a bit of o2 at the beginning to get him breathing after he got a bit stuck but he's fine now and feeding like a demon.

bananastew · 10/09/2010 12:51

MammyG so very true! I get some funny looks when I talk about my "mn friends!" I just call you all my friends now! I've dropped the mn co people think I have a stash of invisable friends! Grin

LadyRabbit congratulations. Sounds perfect. Does he have a name yet?

Ooosa Sorry, ds1 was 9 days early, Oliver was 2 days early!

Having a bit of an off day today. I think I've been on such a high since Oliver was born I've probably been overdoing it. had to go back to bed at 11 cos I was so tired. Feeling a bit better now. Its a good job dh is at home!
