Here's the new thread for the September 2010 arrivals - though some babies have already come in July and August, and maybe more to come in August before we're done with this month...

Congratulations to all the new born babas that have arrived since I last posted!! Honestly, trying to catch up now is getting a lengthy task, lol.

Well, last week my best friend came to stay with me with her 6 week old baby Olivia so i had my first taste of living with a new(ish) born. She was golden and I loved munching her. she hardly cried and was so content. It has made me feel more relaxed and given me an insight of thing to come. I'm hoping my little one will be as good. My dog was also golden with her even when I was doing the feeding, changing and cuddling which is a massive relief.

Over the last 3 days my feet and hands have started to swell!! This is so uncomfortable. i have to soak feet in cold water before bed every night because they feel so hot and tight and my fingers feel horrible. I've been lucky throughout my pregnancy and haven't felt uncomfortable at all until now! Anyone have any wonderful tried and tested remedies to relieve the discomfort of hot swelling???

Going to go for a little swim today to try and get circulation moving x x Hope you are all well.

Well, after a dreadful night on Sunday night, my milk came in and things started to get better. I've had a couple of sets of help with bfing now; Aphra fed well last night before we put her to sleep and then fed a couple of times in the night, but we had a reasonably good nights sleep in the grand scheme of things.

Sorry to hear you are having wobbles on the bfing, Sassy. I can understand why though! Have you got a pump to try expressing some for the twins? We're being lent one hopefully today - the midwife said she would sort one out for us, which makes things nice and easy. My DP is quite keen to be able to give DD a bit of feed at times that I'm catching up on sleep but even if your DP is back at work then it might make things a bit easier to get it into them?

The bf support here in Oxford does seem very good but you still get that thing where the message seems different depending on who you ask for advice. Some people seem to think that only one position is worth suggesting or talking about, for instance. And yesterday's health visitor came across a bit as telling me off, even though the words she said weren't really telling-off ones. I felt a little ruffled! Aphra has lost about 12% of her birth weight so she is a bit under what they aim for in the first 5 days but not massively so. Anyway they'll re-weigh her tomorrow and I'm expecting things to be a lot better then.

Morning everyone, hope you all doing ok today, still waiting here think he must be going to stay in for the full length of time and probably beyond! Have resigned myself to it now but am REALLY fed up of people telling me to make him come/get a move on etc etc it's getting beyond a joke now.

Sorry to hear of struggles with BF, hope things sort themselves out, I'm really hoping it clicks for me again, I was very lucky first time round, but am very aware could be totally different this time.

Not looking forward to these after pains everyone is talking about....

Feel so very very tired today think it may be the massage I went for last night, as my back was really tight and she went in quite deep to ease it, which felt great at the time but think I may suffer a bit today for it!

Hello everyone - I have a baby girl! Grin

Born in the wee hours of Friday, 8 pounds 10 ounces in a very positive (dare I say "easy"?) 9 hour labour.

She couldnt wait to be out! Got to hospital at 10pm and lovely midwife said she went off at 8 so probably wouldnt get to meet the baby. Went from 4 cm to 8 cm in about an hour and baby born just before 4am. Not bad for a first timer, ay?

Her name is Rosalind and she is ravishingly beautiful.

parkj83 · 08/09/2010 10:34

Well done Skater and congratulations :)

catbus · 08/09/2010 10:41

skatergrrrrl; Big congrats! Sounds like a great labour, which is what you want first time, so as to not put you off doing it all again! Grin
Lovely name too.

No bloody signs still, apart from said pressure, feeling pants and feeling like I could happily lamp somebody (verbally I mean!).

Tum te tum...

Swordfishtrombones · 08/09/2010 11:03

Congratulations skatergrrrrl - it sounds lovely. If you'd now like to send some labour vibes this way......!

I woke up this morning and the first thing I did was burst into tears. It feels like every morning is this huge anticlimax at the moment with nothing happening. I was so hoping to avoid going for a sweep this afternoon.

I think I'm having some awful hormonal low as being labelled 'overdue' just makes me feel like a total failure. Everything I think at the moment is completely irrational. All I seem to do is moan and whinge. It's probably lack of sleep as much as everything else. I KNOW that this baby will be born in the next week or so, but that somehow doesn't make it any easier.

Fingers crossed this sweep works (and isn't as horrible as last time). Otherwise I'm going to be too tired to give birth soon.

milk came in yesterday,i forgot how emotianal that makes you!Blush cryed my eyes out at the doctors because we had to wait 45mins!
im still in quite alot of pain 'down there' Blushas it was such a fast delivery i had to have a few stitches this time...his head was born about 2 seconds before the rest of him flew out so quick the mw dint even catch him!he landed on the bed!!Shock and the afterpains are defenatly worse this time!!
but Arlo makes up for it all!
Grin Grin Grin

sorry about the lengthy post! im going to try and catch up with the thread now!HmmGrin

mellymooks · 08/09/2010 11:32

Congrats skater that's wonderful.

skye glad all is going well and he's so chilled, keep enjoying it all.

SkaterGrrrrl · 08/09/2010 12:16

Thanks all and hope you are enjoying your new babies. Sending labour vibes to those of you who are ready to pop!

parkj83 · 08/09/2010 12:21

Hey swordfish I'm feeling exactly the same.

I'm sat here half in tears, just because my dogs are fussing about who is lying in whose bed Hmm

and my teeth have gone into sensitive-overdrive mode too. I can hardly eat anything. Partly I just don't feel like it, and partly I'm dreading the pain of chewing :(

As for sleep, well, up until 2 nights ago, that wasn't much of a problem, but the last 2 nights, I've been awake nigh on every hour, and struggling to get back to sleep.

Moan over, I promise!

One of my community mw's is coming over soon, so going to see if she's willing to do a sweep on me... :)

I know it's early, but I'm thinking what the heck. I'm hoping I'm a bit more dilated than last week, and that this'll really kick things off for good

Congratulations SkaterGrrrl, glad you had a good labour!

I know how you feel Swordfishtrombones, I am crying a lot and feeling really down especially in the morning! Was up most of Friday night with contractions that led to nothing at all, some more Sunday night and last night after my sweep which are waking me up but don't feel they are actually doing anything and I am getting more and more tired! Felt better yesterday after my sweep as I felt I have done something but had the same feeling of misery this morning. Have been having contractions on and off today which is the first time I've had some in the day so I think my sweep must have done something. I'm booked for another one Friday morning so still vaguely hopeful of going into labour before being induced but I can't help having negative feelings about it all :(

I cried so much the day my milk came in with DS skyeplusbump! Glad Arlo is being a good baby for you though, must be a big help! You'll have to change your name now to skyeplusarlo!

Just dropped DS at his extra preschool session and managed not to cry! He was very excited about going but although everything's familiar he doesn't know any of the children and he went to play next to a little boy (who I know from toddler groups is quite aggressive) and he pulled a horrible face as soon as he went over so I've left a worried mummy :(. Plus he normally sleeps at this time of the afternoon so not sure how he will cope all afternoon. He is 3 and 4months so I had hoped by the end of the summer hols he'd be ok not to have a nap one afternoon a week, so fingers crossed!

JodeyLea I don't know how far you have to go but it might be worth investing in some Gell Foot Soothers from Avon. They have been brilliant for me. I wouldn't recommend walking in them but pop them in the fridge. The look a little orthopedic but if you're just sitting in the house they're well worth it!
I think they're very near the back of the catalogue or you'll find them on the Avon website at just £6.00.

Had my scan today and all's well. Head engaged. I have to say I was all set for today being the day incase of csection but will have to wait for him to make his move.

sassy34264 · 08/09/2010 13:30

Thanks everyone. Wobble over. I have managed to have a very good nights sleep. Kicked DP out of bed and onto the sofa bed and put the babies in with me. (They sleep better) Also stayed in bed this morning (after getting DD ready for school and slept with the babies until 12! YEAH.
I have also managed to feed them both simultaneously on 3 occasions in last 36hours, so that is time saving. Can't do it all the time though cos they don't always match on timings but i'm ok with that.

Congrats to Skatergirl and a big hug and some mental (and emotional) encouragement to those who are still struggling on. xxx

Monstermuncher · 08/09/2010 14:16

Oooh another September baby, congratulations Skatergrrrrl! When is it going to be me?

Saw consultant this morning who has booked me in for cs next Thursday if nothing happens before then. Really really bad timing as thats the day that the Pope is visiting Glasgow and many of the roads between my house and the hospital will be closed. Joy. Anyhoo, he examined me to see if anything is going on with a view to possible ARM on Friday (as I had a cs previously they won't induce in the usual way). My cervix is not ready for that apparently but he certainly had a good old rummage (!)and since I got home I have started having periody type cramps and some brown discharge - sorry if TMI. I'm trying not to get too excited but might this be something starting? It wasn't a proper sweep or anything...

40+3 (and slowly going maaad)

bellabelly · 08/09/2010 15:00

Congratulations skatergrrrrl!!! Glad you had a smooth labour, enjoy your lovely baby! Beautiful name too.

Had a lovely hosp appt this morning to sort out c-sect details ready for Monday. Have been given a list of stuff to pack in my hospital bag so am REALLY going to get it packed today - NO EXCUSES! (have been putting it off for weeks now!)

Chelle1986 · 08/09/2010 15:58

Congratulations to everyone who has had there babies!!

Even though I'm very frightened of him actually coming out - I just want my boy to be here now! I have a feeling he will be late though....no signs whatsoever apart from getting increasingly more uncomfortable each day....

Does anyone know if you can ask to see MW before due date? Am 38+3 now and want to know how much further he has engaged (was 2/5 at last appt 2 weeks ago) and if I've started to dilate at all - and I haven't got another appt now until the hospital (consultant) at 40 weeks..??

C.xxx

Swordfishtrombones · 08/09/2010 18:08

Hi Ladies

Glad that I'm not the only one is a weeping blubbering hormonal wreck. I know it's not the end of the world going over the due date but it does feel awful and emotional doesn't it?

Well I had my sweep which was nowhere near as bad as the last one I had, and apparently my cervix is nice and soft and thinning out nicely so I can hope that something will happen soon. Otherwise I've had to be booked in for an induction next wednesday morning. PLEEEEEEEASE come out baby!

Chelle - if everything is fine and you are okay then there really isn't any need to see a m/w before the 40wks. They tend not to do internal examinations until then (well not here in Lewisham anyway). If all is well then the less messing about the better. I'm afraid that how far the baby has engaged doesn't have any bearing on when it is likely to come out! some are fully engaged for a month, and some engage last minute.

By the way, I didn't realise until today that when they wrote 4/5 engaged in my notes it actually means that only 1/5 has actually dropped into the pelvis. It's very confusing. Besides which my baby has decided to totally disengage and is now still head down but not pressing on my cervix.

cinnamongreyhound · 08/09/2010 18:23

They write how many fifths are palpable not how many are engaged :(

My baby's head is totally free too, but everyone keeps telling me its normal for second babies not to engage until labour, I'm sure it would help things along though!

Chathappy · 08/09/2010 20:44

Swordfish, I feel exactly the same. It's my due date today but I feel like I want to curl up in the corner of a dark room and hide away in my depressed state! Even though we logically know that up to 42 weeks is normal there is something psychologically horrible about hitting that big day then going beyond ! (I went over with ds1 too). I could have had an elective c section last Wednesday too if I hadn't opted for vbac but really trying not to think about that!

Lots of bh tonight although I never read much in to them anymore! Seeing the midwife tomorrow, might try and persuade her to do a sweep.

Cinnamon and swordfish, hope it happens for you both soon - its definitely your turns now! Smile

Chathappy · 08/09/2010 20:46

Oops, well mentioned in post but I'm

40 wks today Shock

Chathappy · 08/09/2010 20:48

Oh and congrats skatergirl! Sorry I find it hard catching up with the thread sometimes! Blush

LadyRabbit · 09/09/2010 00:03

Congrats everyone with their babies, and most recently SkaterGrrrrl ! Wow.

I'm writing this the night before my planned c-section. Can't believe it's later today. And that the best part of a year has gone by since we made this thread...

If anyone else has a baby in the next 24 hrs, congrats and I'll know what it's like soon too. Will report back as soon as I am able to let you know how we get on.

Thanks for all the support again.

Eeek. Is it normal to be as terrified as I am excited?!

bellabelly · 09/09/2010 06:48

LadyRabbit - so your baby is arriving later today? Woohoo! Hope everything goes brilliantly! Totally normal to be terrified as well as excited I'd say Grin.
