Here's the new thread for the September 2010 arrivals - though some babies have already come in July and August, and maybe more to come in August before we're done with this month...

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
cinnamongreyhound · 07/09/2010 06:51

I had them with ds whammie76 mostly when I fed him. On the plus side my bump was gone in a couple of weeks and I stopped bleeding really quickly. Have heard it's worse with second so not looking forward to that!

I like it eggonlegs, I used to work with someone with the same name but everyone called him yogi, think it may just be a bit of a mouthful but nice name :)

bellabelly · 07/09/2010 09:10

Congratulations, eggonlegs! I really like the name you've chosen, sort of classic with a twist!

Last night felt quite miserable with period-type pains and wondered if it was th start of something but all seems to have calmed down now.

Can't remember who mentioned about significant dates but I was thinking it'd be cool if the girls arrived on Thursday 9/9 as my boys were born on 8/8. Or tomorrow which would be 8/9/10 which is nice and easy to remember!

beaditAli · 07/09/2010 09:26

I was sure there would be news this morning of new little ones. I feel so bad being this fed up with Bumpy not making any signs of making his exit when I still have 7 days til EDD. Still, I have time to concentrate on poochy for now.
Just made a last minute appointment with the MW as for a few days I've felt like he's breach again. She has booked me in for later this morning but made me feel silly for asking and said they can move at the last minute.
I was told at 36 week scan that he wouldn't move and I know he has lots so it's hard to know who's advice to listen to.
Does anyone think i'm being unreasonable asking for a check at 39 weeks?

Cluds · 07/09/2010 09:48

whammie76 i didn't have them with my first, but sure did with my second, and apparently they get worse each time so am not looking forward to getting them with this DC3! 5 days sounds like a long time though, poor you!
eggonleggs I like the name! Anyway, it is up to you and your DH and not up to anyone else! Stick to your guns!
beaditAli i don't think you are being unreasonable at all as you have every right to ask for a check. If the baby has moved again and is breach then don't forget tho that he/she could still move back to the right position again.
I had a rotten night too last night, and was up between midnight and 4, but did go back to sleep until about 8 which was good. Seems to be a combination of breathlessness, sore hips, indigestion and a very wriggly worm! Can you believe that my DH actually said to me at 3.30 this morning "You OK babe?" (that was the nice bit) "How about a sh*g? Might make you relax" You can imagine what my answer was!

comixminx · 07/09/2010 09:51

Congratulations eggonlegs! I think Johannes Henri is definitely unusual and will get some second looks. Are you expecting to call him Johannes mostly? I think they're both very nice names though arguably a bit much in combination.

Stickhasgrownup · 07/09/2010 10:00

whammie - After pains are horrible and they get worse with each baby you have! Having just had DC3 I've felt like I'm in labour everytime I've fed her! Seem to be getting better now though, day 4.

Patito - My Maia had the same with her cord. Mind you it was the fattest one ever! I had to give her oral antibiotics - which she wouldn't take, so ended up having to express and mix milk with antibiotics. Funny thing was it turned the EBM bright pink! So goodness knows what people thought I was feeding her! Grin Although I did see a different MW after a few days on the antibiotics and she said Maia didn't need them and of course the cord is infected as essentially its ment to rott away! So who knows!

My boobs are like bowling balls! I feel I could feed a whole nursery! Belle feeds and I get no relief... can't wait for my supply to calm down.
DD started school yesterday and thank goodness she's full of enthusiasm and keen to return today! The mornings are no fun though having to get 3 DC out the house in time for school... but at least now its just me and Belle until 1pm.

Stickhasgrownup · 07/09/2010 10:05

Oh and Congratulations Eggsonlegs, Whammie and anyone else I've missed! Grin

comixminx · 07/09/2010 10:58

Stick, my boobs are also monstrous! they started ballooning yesterday and now are rock-hard. Aphra is really liking having proper milk though - the night before last she fed for hours and hours and wasn't satisfied, but now she gets so much more of a bellyfull. I also went to see a bf counsellor yesterday to get some help with my latch; think it's better now than it was though probably could still be improved.

Debs75 · 07/09/2010 13:22

On weird dates both my elder girls were born on the 19th and both on a Thursday. DD1 kept saying this one should be a boy and born on the 2nd like her brother.

My after pains were horriffic this time and lasted for about a week. The worst was when they spread down to my legs but luckily that only lasted a few days.

Like the name Johannes. You didn't actuallt put but I am assuming he is a boy?

cinnamongreyhound · 07/09/2010 13:27

If you are worried I don't think anything is unreasonable beaditAli better safe than sorry.

Have to smile at your DH cluds!! Wish mine was vaguely interested, have tried to persuade him several times and tonight he won't have a choice as I've had a sweep today and want to try to help that along!

I will know how you feel soon stickhasgrownup back to work when DS will be 2 weeks old! And you are breastfeeding, have been worrying how I will cope with feeding and the rest of it so you give me hope!

So my sweep brought mixed news, I have a 2 os cervix (which could explain why I was told to push when I was only 5cm dilated with DS). The outer one is 3cm and the inner one just 1cm dilated. It is soft and effacing but still posterior so midwife is expecting to see me again on Friday and then she will book me for induction Sunday or Monday. At least cervix is doing something so I feel a bit more positive. Baby's heartbeat was strong and regular afterwards and he's been moving around since. So sounds like I will be going a few more days over at least :(

catbus · 07/09/2010 14:08

Oh no debs: this will be my 4th aswell, and am dreading the afterpains: with DC3 they were excruciating, although my womb went back in record time.

I was hoping they weren't going to get any worse this time!

Congrats to those who have posted with births again too!

Nowt doing this end, apart from awful pressure still, making it painful to do anything: feels like the baby is pressing on a big ball of something! Been feeling lots of BHs though, to the point where my belly is permanently hard: baby is quieter til the evenings too.

Hoping these will all make for a speedy 4th birth, which I am now really dreading, despite all being cool with the last 3. Smile

sassy34264 · 07/09/2010 15:27

Congrats to all the new births. I have mostly been reading the posts every day, but don't always have the time or the energy to write something!
I have spent the last 2 days attending hospital for the babies prolonged jaundice. The poor mites have so many marks on the feet where they have been pricked to death. They've had more needles than me and i'm nearly 36!
Midwife had been telling me for the last 2 weeks to get them in the light, get them in the light and i found out today that it's not that kind of jaundice and photo whatever it's called would not make any difference. (rolling eyes) I've been putting the cot at the window and walking about with them nearly naked pushing the bloody pram for nothing.

I've also seen a doctor for myself, cos my scar was oozing a bit. On anti biotics now for an infection. Sigh. Not been a good 2 days and made worse by the fact that i'm bloody knackered today. Jacob is unsatisfiable and feeding every 1 and a half hours. I'm wobbling on the breast feeding...........NO!

parkj83 · 07/09/2010 16:17

Congratulations eggs

I love the name Johannes, but then I'm musical, with a German background, so very biased! :o

Saw my mw today, and my chiropractor, and I was hoping one or t'other would be enough to get me going again, but no luck...

The midwife refused to do a check or a sweep, as it was just a short consultation, but she's offered to come over tomorrow and see what's going on, and sweep if she thinks I need it (ooh, I hope so!)

She got me a teeny bit worried, saying Fidge could be B2B, but said don't worry if s/he is, as they can move about right to the end... don't say that! DS flipped at the end, to B2B! Confused

I'm seeing my preferred consultant at the hospital on Friday though, so he'll tell me what's what.

beaditAli · 07/09/2010 17:08

Saw the midwife today after a last minute appointment and am having a scan tomorrow. Was told to take my bags though his heart rate is completely normal.... so hoping they'll scan and then give him a chance to budge again. He was making an amazingly strange shape on my tum today though and my MW wasn't sure what was where he was so contorted!
Glad I went and fingers crossed he'll shifty himself.
I have to say I've so appreciated Mumsnet for all the advice and honesty from people. A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who's posted as you've really been a huge support to me.... a clueless first timer!
Good luck again to all those due imminently! Smile Smile Smile

beaditAli · 07/09/2010 17:09

Oh always forget..... 39 exactly.

cinnamongreyhound · 07/09/2010 17:41

You've done so well sassy34264 don't give up just yet. When I had my problems with breastfeeding I just focussed on the the next feed and got through that. Sorry to hear you're feeling rubbish, can imagine that one thing is enough to deal with but to have an infection yourself and have your babies in hospital as well can't be easy at all. Can you get someone to take them for a walk for an hour or so just to fit in a cat nap once a day. My mum did that once for me when I had mastitis, I slept so well even though it was short knowing I didn't have to worry and felt so much better afterwards. I know you've done all this before so probably know the best things to do for yourself but thought I'd mention it.

Good luck with the scan beaditAli. I had a growth scan at 36 weeks and check position as well, we saw the baby drinking the fluid and his little tongue going in and out was so cute!

beaditAli · 07/09/2010 17:45

I'm soooo jealous. At my 36 week scan she wouldn't let me see the screen!!
I was bluntly told that it was just a position check and that she wouldn't answer any other questions!
Having experienced that I'm definitely going to ask to see things this time round. There was no one else in the waiting room last time either! I put it all down to my inexperience in such situations as I'm sure we should be able to the scan!?

cinnamongreyhound · 07/09/2010 17:52

The sonographer was showing us lots, I didn't ask but maybe it's because DS was there and she wanted to show him his brother? First thing she did was show me heart to put my mind at rest which I thought was nice too.

Midwife thought DS was breech so had a scan at 38 weeks but it wasn't done by a sonographer and she told me that she wasn't experienced and all she could tell me was if there was a ball at the bottom or not, so we didn't see anything then.

beaditAli · 07/09/2010 17:56

So odd how different things can be depending who you see. I thought it particularly mean as she could see from my notes that we're high risk for Downs Syndrome so I thought she might have eased us a little. Sadly not.
I was too late for nucal due to the hospital changing my appointments and then almost 20 weeks by the time we could have gone for an amnio so declined.
Fingers crossed for the scan tomorrow though and if I have to I'll spin the monitor around myself! Grin

sassy34264 · 07/09/2010 18:51

thanks cinamon. Everyone works full time unfortunately. It will be better by the end of the week. DD is back at school and i will sleep when they sleep during the day......not been able to the last 2 days cos of hospital. Had to sit there for about an hour with Jacob's willy in a jar and Isobel sat in a cardboard boat thing to get a urine sample.......nightmare!

MammyG · 07/09/2010 19:27

Hi all
Eggonlegs it is not a common name so there will be mixed reactions. People were very mixed on my DS1 but now everyone thinks his name is perfect and suits him down to the ground. I know there will be mixed reations to the name we have chosen this time round too but its our choice and thats all that matters.
Beatitali Isnt it sickening how some people feel they have a right to pass ontheir bad moods. Good luck tomorrow

Met consultant today. Baby in right position good size and all is well! He is going to induce me tomorrow two weeks if I dont go before then!! Was nearly giddy with excitement. Thats bang on my due dates really which is cool. I have to see him the day before to be sure everything is favorable otherwise it will be put out by a week. But I am delighted. To top it off I came home to find some nice baby stuff I ordered had arrived. Its all so real!! And so close!

Cluds · 07/09/2010 19:43

OMG sassy what a nightmare for you. Really hope the twins are doing ok. I had to read your last post twice, as I got to the bit that said ....Jacob's willy was in a jar.....and i thought WTF? So read it again and again and it only made sense when i carried on reading the whole sentence. Am such a plonker.
beaditAli fingers crossed he budges!!
MammyG so excited for you!!
Saw my midwife today, not much to report, she took my bloods to check on my anemia (although had m B12 injection yesterday which always gives me a bit of a high!). Said baby still in the right position which is good and that was about it. I mentioned i had what i thought was a bit of mucus/show but she thinks it is probably discharge (sorry TMI). Came home and then got so excited as i thought my waters had broken, but realised (on smelling it) that it was just wee.............how depressing and amusing at once!!

Bad day today! took the boys to toddlers then had Olivers hearing test then went straight to my parents which is an hour away. Got there, Oliver screaming to be fed and what had I left on the kitchen side? 2 bottles each containing 3oz of very precious expressed milk! Dh has just poured them down the sink. I couldn't bring myself to do it. Luckily I'd taken an emergency bottle & some formula so he had to have that. Its the 1st time I've cried since he was born. That then led to a row with DH. I was sat expressing with Oliver screaming on my knee, unable to hold him properly & DH says "you're getting stressed today and I don't know why!" Stupid man! Why do you think? Cue rant about feeling like a cow etc etc! To top it all off I then took Oliver to meet my auntie who's terminally ill. Its probably the 1st & last time she'll see her. Sad

sassy you're doing brilliantly. It can't be easy feeding 2. Oliver feeds every 1-2 hours Its really hard to keep up with the expressing. I keep telling myself it'll settle down! I hope they're both better soon.

Sorry for the rant!

bellabelly · 07/09/2010 21:02

Sassy - just a quick one, sorry to hear things haven't been easy with having to go back to hospital. Just wanted to say re the breastfeeding tht you are doing brilliantly and just do what you need to do to stay sane. I never got the hang of feeding the DTS simultaneously (which would have been great and would have saved lots of time) and eventually settled on mixed feeding - part BF, part expressing, part formula before deciding after a few weeks that I'd had enough of BFing altogether. I really want to gve BFing a really good go this time but I'll be much more relaxed about giving top-ups, I found that once I was pumping, supply was just not an issue. If I hadn't topped up with pumped milk or formula, I'd have given up on BF-ing even sooner, I think.

whammie76 · 07/09/2010 23:56

Congratulations eggonleggs - I like your name choice, unusual but nice. It's your choice so don't bother what others say, they should respect your choice.

Stick - my afterpains seem to be dying down now, odd niggle but so much better and that's day 6. Love the name Belle.

My boobs have been like rocks since yesterday, trying to express milk to feed to LO but not very successful at moment. I'm not doing BF as have nipple problems & DS isn't a strong sucker so hospital said we would have both struggled if I had tried.

BP was still high today, so MW asked GP to see me and I've finally been given meds to bring it down.
