Here's the new thread for the September 2010 arrivals - though some babies have already come in July and August, and maybe more to come in August before we're done with this month...

OP posts:

oooohbanana that is so exciting, good luck hope it all goes well.

skye got back to sleep!!! Me and DP been sleeping in shifts all wknd trying to bank sleep time while we can! Grin

Proper autumnal here today, really sunny but frosty this morning!

bellabelly · 30/08/2010 10:36

banana - fingers crossed for an Aug baby for you! How exciting! Am soooooo buying myself a pineapple later!

cinnamongreyhound · 30/08/2010 11:05

Hope all goes well bananastew, look forward to hearing from you :)

I'm feeling much happier today, not really sure why probably hormonal. Still having no more than period pains and BH but just don't feel that it's going to happen any time soon.

Thinking birthing thoughts for those of you who want your babies now!

Good luck Banana !! Very exciting.......

Hello damndog - hope everythings going okay re your vbac, I've been chatting to you over on the vbac support thread !

I was hoping baby would come and I would be home before Wednesday as my eldest starts primary school on Thursday but I know that's very wishful thinking ! So I've been ironing labels in uniform and getting him sorted the past couple of weeks.

I would hate to not be there for him on his first day so would be typical if baby turned up Thursday !

Lots of nipple tweaking going on here !!!!! Grin

skyeplusbump · 30/08/2010 11:54

err,no movements this morning, phoned mw.am going for a check up in an hour...so either im going to feel like a right idiot when he starts kicking the crap out of me as soon as i get there...or i wont.

someone tell me its going to be okay.

Stickhasgrownup · 30/08/2010 12:10

Sky - same happened to me with DS1... suddenly in the hospital car park he woke up and I felt a bit silly by the time I arrived. However as I was desperate to have him the MW gave me a sweep while I was there and he was born the following morning... so wasn't a complete waste of time Grin Also they do move less when labour is iminant!

Stickhasgrownup · 30/08/2010 12:13

Banana - How exciting... although I guess now you won't be reading this until after the big event!
Its so funny there you are guzzling pinapple and wishing the baby out and I've not moved from the sofa in days trying to keep the baby in!
Only 36hours and I'll be reaching for the pinapple!

skyeplusbump · 30/08/2010 12:21

oh stick thankyou!

how far along were you?
what did you say to make her give you a sweep?!Wink

39 weeks exactly!

sassy34264 · 30/08/2010 12:23

Congratulations to sazzie and Jaysforth!
Good luck to bananastew.
My dd was born today, 10 years ago. I thought she would be the littlest/youngest in the class, but twins were born on the same day and there was a girl who was born on the 31st all in the same class.

Isobel and Jacob are currently fast asleep with there heads touching in the same cot. They mostly sleep at the moment and i am finiding it easier than when i had DD (she had very bad colic and would scream all the time), but i know it won't last! I have had a few bad days and i have realised it relates to what i eat. So far, curry, coco cola and vinegar are out. I have vinagerette on my salads........2 o'clock in the morning and was still struggling!!!

It's getting very exciting for you all.......i'm jealous. Want to relive it all again. I asked DP when the babies were 2 days old, if he wanted anymore and he said yes! I'm tempted!!!!! :o

JodeyLea · 30/08/2010 12:43

Congratulation to you Jaysforth and good luck bananastew x x x x x Gosh, it's all starting to happen now!!!!

Beaditali I too love and cannot stop crunching ice!!! And seriously love sucking on my super soft bath sponge which smells of lavender and tea tree! What's that all about ay? lol! I also keep a bottle of tee tree by my side when watching the tev to have regular little sniffs! Crazy! These little quirky habbits do make me laugh.

Right, who's going to be next? Defo not me as only 36 + 3 and don't feel as though baby has dropped yet as can still walk about and bop around on stage. Got my last gig for a while on Friday. I do ache all over the next day though.

JodeyLea · 30/08/2010 12:45

Sorry - tea tree! Spelt it right the first time too! x

Stickhasgrownup · 30/08/2010 13:13

skye - I was 39 weeks exactly when he was born, so must have been 38+6 when I had the sweep.
I just think I said about pains and not sleeping and getting over tired so she said she'd check me. Then she discovered that I was already 3cm so was able to do a good sweep. Don't think they can do them if you're not already slightly dialated.
Good luck! Grin

parkj83 · 30/08/2010 13:22

Wow, I hide for 3 days, and 2 whole pages get filled out! Lol

Go banana definitely!

I'm holding out till Weds although I have started on the RLT!

How is fresh pineapple more effective than tinned can I ask? I have lots of tinned in juice... is that not going to work as well?!

Jodea, I'm addicted to the smell of my soap in the bathroom - shea butter and ginger... I can't stop washing my hands, and I've just found it in shower gel format! I'm seriously contemplating just sitting in the shower permanently!! :o

stick I remember having 2 sweeps done with DS; I must have been full term, but I know I wasn't dilated at all, as I ended up needing to be induced at 41 weeks. Maybe it's more effective if you're slightly dilated??

parkj83 · 30/08/2010 13:22

Ooh, 37+2 :)

Chathappy · 30/08/2010 13:58

Yes I have heard also that sweeps are great if your cervix is favourable and already dilating (like stick) but if not then it either does nothing or it can create a really long latent phase which is exactly what happened to me with ds1.

Think it was about 3 days in the end and I was in agony and shattered from no sleep and ended up having an emcs ! It was really horrible so Im not risking having an early sweep this time ! (Think I was about 39 and half weeks?)

I'm wondering if my midwife can check at 40wks to see if my cervix is favourable before performing a sweep (if it is of course).... that's if she will give me one at 40 weeks as I think it's normally about 41 weeks here.

With ds1 I didnt realise that that was what could happen and the midwife didnt mention anything like that to me so just tried to do the sweep anyway ! Think my body totally wasn't ready in retrospect now.

catbus · 30/08/2010 14:10

Oooo sounds like bananastew is cracking on! Good luck!

Hope you're ok skye: I have been in and out of hospital with reduced movements and it's horrid. In fact only yesterday I was on the cusp of going back in after a VERY quiet day, until mad moving late evening..

Today lots of moving and lots of tightening and bearing down. Not banking on anything though as have never gone 'early'.

Having said that, trying to sort out a plaster casted bored 2 year old and 2 other bored kids might be enough to start things off! Grin

If this baby pushes down any more I will probably just be able to fart it out..

catbus · 30/08/2010 14:10

Whoops, 38+4

bananastew · 30/08/2010 14:28

Hi all! update - went into assessment unit! was 2 1/2 cm she performed a sweep & sent me home to "progress!" lost my hind waters but fore waters still intact. contractions now 4 minutes & getting stronger! Hopefully heading back in soon!

Monstermuncher · 30/08/2010 14:29

LOL at Catbus farting out baby!

Good luck bananastew! Skyeplus - hope all is well.

Have started taking raspberry leaf tablets - I don't know if they will make any difference or if I should've been taking them earlier but you have to love the idea of a tablet that can tone your muscles (please someone invent one that will tone thigh muscles).

I'll be interested to hear how the pineapple/nipple tweaking etc works out ..

39 + 1

skyeplusbump · 30/08/2010 15:36

okay so,when in for assesment, and baby is okay but very quite,so i have to go in for a scan tomorow...
unless i go into labour tonight,as mw say's the quiteness may be because he's getting ready to arrive!

banana thanks for the update...good luck!!!Grin

whirleywoo72 · 30/08/2010 15:49

im 36wks, due 23rd sept, hopefully get induced early with complications, i got judgement day on wed 1st sept at clininc and another scan xx im with my 4th and my others range from 14 yrs to 16yrs and 18 yrs. so i take it by the amount of babies due, everybody had a good new year, and getting snowed in. lol

catbus · 30/08/2010 17:35

Glad you're okay skye.

I had to have a growth and placental flow scan due to 'quietness'.

Hope it's because baby is getting ready to dive for you! Smile

parkj83 · 30/08/2010 18:36

Good luck banana hope it doesn't drag out too long Wink

I've had a terrible afternoon. I went to see my Nanna, and found my useless lump of a DSis (the one who refused to look after my parents' dog) parked on the sofa munching Nanna's food. Angry

Bearing in mind she'd blagged that she couldn't take Toby as she was "working most of the weekend" Hmm (He needs letting out twice a day, other than that, he sleeps all day long. Yup. He's a real big inconvenience...)

Then she text me 1st thing yesterday saying not to bother picking her and her 2 DSs up for church as she didn't feel well, thinking she had a cold coming on Hmm... I was 95% sure she was blagging it anyway, but it's her choice, and it's one less thing for me to worry about, so I wasn't too bothered.

But then to walk into my 85yr old Nanna's 24 hours later and find her shacked up there, eating as if there's no tomorrow, and there's nothing wrong with her that a shower and shampoo wouldn't fix... (I swear she's allergic to hot water) OMG... if her kids hadn't been there, and if Nanna's next-door neighbour hadn't been there, I really would have flattened her.

I only stayed 5 mins, but I honestly wanted to deck her in said 5 mins. I came so close!

And now, since coming home and letting off steam to DH, I've had a bad backache, and intermittant contractions, and lots of pressure and pain between my legs... I really don't want Fidge to make an appearance yet :(

Please, just wait 2 more days!

MammyG · 30/08/2010 21:03

Go banana!! Cant wait for the good news.

Skye - I had panics at some stage in my last two pregnancies. Towards the end the quiet stages can be weird and also their habits can just change. This one is gone awfully quiet in the evenings but was woken by DS1 last night and realised baby is having a disco in the wee hours.

Was back to work today and last day tomorrow. Settling in the smallies and handing over to new teacher tomorrow. They are dotey bless them. Was nice to feel normal for a while. Sciatica a total pain tho but felt a bit like me for the first time in ages. Nothing like a bunch of kiddies to take your mind of yourself. Have also organised one no-children coffee date and one playdate coffee date to pass away the week.

Everyone telling me Im still really high so guess despite BH's etc this will be another induction. - Jealous of all of you having symptoms.
When to I start with raspberry tea and pineapple etc. Cant eat spicy. Been throwing up again the past few days but think space is an issue.
Just want to meet my baby - its frustrating having to wait but nice to be excited. Now just need to get organised! Ugh! Is there really any point in cleaning in a house with 3 boys?

MammyG · 30/08/2010 21:16

I always forget - 37 weeks today
