Here's the new thread for the September 2010 arrivals - though some babies have already come in July and August, and maybe more to come in August before we're done with this month...

I've also been having period-type pains and tightenings on and off since last week, with no definite result as yet! Looking forward to it all kicking off properly - though as we're so close to September I'd rather s/he waited until then at this point... I think things must be developing a bit at least, even if it's not properly full-on yet. Didn't someone upthread say that she was 1 - 2 cm dilated / had a softening cervix even without any waters breaking or other specific signs? Hopefully that's what's brewing with me - fingers crossed!

Comixminx that was me! I'm still here! Had period type pains, would even go so far as say the odd contraction for the last 2/3 weeks. Had a sleep today & have woken up with them again! Each time I think "Is this it?" and each time its not!

I actually cried today through SPD pain!Sad I've not been too emotional which is amazing for me as its a standing joke between me & my cousin that I once cried at Groundforce!
I walked round a car boot and completely had to hobble back to the car and collapsed in a heap! I was in such agony! I keep trying to tell myself it won't be long now but I just feel so useless!

comixminx · 29/08/2010 15:35

bananastew, we're definitely in the same boat then! Ah well, keep on keeping on...

Ooh feeling much better this afternoon - I think I was at the end of my tether last night, it's always darkest before dawn and all that. Is anyone else suffering from horrible insomnia? I only start to feel human around 3 in the afternoon.

DH has already had a plumber in to fix the leak, been on to bathroom company and arranged for a builder to come Friday. He has promised me that when we arrive home from hospital with baby it will be to a show home.

I feel HUGE. I swear I'm going to give birth to a baby calf. If this baby is less than 9lbs I'll be extremely surprised.

bananastew you brave thing going to a car boot sale. I don't have SPD but I can just about manage a short trip to the post box and back. I've never cried at Groundforce but I did (oh S**t, I should whisper this) cry during the X Factor last night. Partly coz of the awful singing, and partly the usual 'human interest' aspect of it.

Bonners · 29/08/2010 18:54

Oh girls! I so relate to all your comments about feeling poo.
For some reason I've been feeling quite blue and fairly unmotivated since I started mat leave last week. I had all these great plans to finish up bub's room and clean out the cupboard under the stairs and see friends but it's all I can do just to get dressed and flop in front of the telly so far. I'm not sure if it's just sunk in that it will no longer just be me to look after or if it's just the anticipation of such a big change but I'm puzzled because I was soooooo looking forward to the time off before bub comes (EDD 15th sept). Now I'm just feeling a bit adrift.
Anyone else less than ecstatic like me?

MammyG- I'm the same, got quite a neat bump and I'm small too. Funny how people have a difference of opinion on size of bump. For a while people where saying how 'big' they thought I was, and others say they think I'm quite neat. DH's family seem to get great pleasure in saying how 'massive' they think I look. They said exactly the same thing last time and I had a small baby. This baby is smaller too according to the growth scan I had last week, but not off the scale small, but I knew it wouldn't be big as I'm small myself.

Comixminx & bananastew how are you finding the period type pains when having the braxton hicks? I get them, not everyday, but the pain is under bump, round my back and down my legs. MW said to phone hospital if I get them as not normal, but I can't phone them everytime I get them as they'd just tell me to take painkillers and lie down. Funny thing is I only get them when lying or sitting down.

mellymooks · 29/08/2010 19:31

bonners I was just the same for the first couple of weeks after I finished work, I think it was adjusting to such a new routine after never feeling like I had a minute and juggling my DD, work, pregnancy and house to suddenly finding myself at home 24/7 I felt all at sea, very tearful, not excited about imminent baby, no motivation to get everything sorted etc,
but as I've adjusted I've picked up.

Am enjoying spending some quality time with DD before she has to learn to share me, (even if that quality time is mainly cuddles while we watch cbeebies or read stories as I'm physically not up to much more than that.) and have slowly started to get stuff sorted and going through all the baby clothes reminded me a teeny tiny person will be in them soon.

I still don't feel as connected with this baby as I did with my DD but I'm hoping that it will all "click" when he arrives.

skyeplusbump · 29/08/2010 19:31

whammie i get those...every time i think ohhh this might be the beggining of a contraction.

never bloody is though!

Hi folks :)

I'm going to squeeze in too if that's OK, because now I'm on ML and have lots of time for MNing contemplation it's nice to compare notes with others.

Hoping for a VBAC with number 2 - due 4 weeks today although my MW said the other day that I might go a bit early because I'm swelling up so much. I really hope she's right because by this time of night I'm like a bloody marshmallow! I've had nesting urges too - which I don't remember having with DS - and loads of BH. I think baby's quite short because although it's only a tiny bit engaged I'm not getting rib kicks, just upper abdomen kicks.

Sorry to hear there's a theme of fed-upness today. I've been lucky in that my SPD which was rotten this time around really settled down once the baby turned head down. So I've been getting reasonable sleep on the whole, when DS isn't waking me up that is! I think by this stage it's no surprise we've had enough - the fun bit's over, we're just waiting for some action now!

:)

sazziej · 29/08/2010 20:39

Ooh how exciting, sounds like lots of you culd be close.... keep eating the fresh pineapple, Smile it worked for me!

Evie now has a middle name - officially now called Evie Rose.

skyeplusbump · 29/08/2010 20:50

that beautiful my dd'd second middle name is rose,i love it!Smile how's she doing?!gaining weight and all that?!x

bananastew · 29/08/2010 20:53

I've had a quarter of a fresh pineapple today couldn't manage any more! Have the rest in the fridge ready!

Whammie sounds like mine. MW also said to go & get checked out but especially as my labour with DS was very quick but like you I can't possibly do that everytime, I may aswell move in! She did say lavender oil in the bath will either stop it or encourage it if it is the real thing!

skyeplusbump · 29/08/2010 20:55

just now eating the second half of my pineapple!Grin

bananastew · 29/08/2010 21:01

I thought i was going to be sick! Might try a bit more now! The dairy milk jumped the queue tho. Now if chocolate was on the list of ways to start labour I'd be well away!!

Debs75 · 29/08/2010 21:44

We are stuggling with middle names so if any of you can find time to suggest one for Lucy, alongside eating pineapple, drinking raspberry leaf tea, bouncing on balls, and if you have the strength, sex, it would be greatfully appreciated.Grin

whammie76 · 29/08/2010 22:24

skye - that's what I was thinking in the beginning 'is this it starting'? But the more I get them, I try my hardest to ignore them - although I've mastered a good breathing technique to help me through them.

Hi thatdamndog - I managed abit of nesting today after having to take it easy these past few days - it's so satisfying. Grin I'm not getting rib kicks either, but plenty abdominal kicks. Got a growth scan other day and my baby is definately on the short side.

Bananastew - no I hadn't heard of the lavender oil, may try it. Hmm I had the pains while I was in hospital last week, but only mentioned it to one MW as was too scared of getting kept in longer than a night. She sisn't seem to concerned though. Consultant had me in a panic though, as he said if my BP continued to rise then they would be starting me that day! Shock He said he had a feeling I definately won't go full term though.

quitescared · 29/08/2010 22:48

Hi 'willthecatbejealous'. Don't know the likelihood of you looking at this, but i'm also due in leeds. Officially due on 1/10/10 but for various reasons am having to be induced 20/9/10.

bananastew · 30/08/2010 07:25

I think the pineapple has worked!!!!!! Waters went at 6am. Having pains every 10 minutes! I know I wanted an august baby but this is cutting it a bit fine!!!

Watch this space. I'll update as soon as I can!

Oh and Debs Lucy Jane! beautiful, wonderful name! Not mine at all Wink

ThatDamnDog · 30/08/2010 07:57

Woohoo! So excited for you!

comixminx · 30/08/2010 08:25

bananastew good luck with getting your August baby! I want a Sept baby myself so am staying away from the pineapple until Wed...

Whammie, you asked how were we finding the period type pains when having the braxton hicks? Not quite sure what you mean by how are we finding them - niggling is the best answer in my case! - but to me they are mostly showing up as lower back ache and some cramping at the bottom of the bump. I get them when standing and walking, associated with pressure and discomfort in the pelvic region.

Chelle1986 · 30/08/2010 10:13

Go banana! Keep us updated!

Well...today is my first actual day of mat leave! Been off on hols for the past three weeks but feel like today is kinda the 'first day' if that makes sense.

I want to meet my baby now! lol. But if he comes early he has to come this week because my mum goes away on hols on Sat for two weeks and is only back one day before his due date! So she will be flying back if I go early...which I feel terrible about! So its guaranteed to happen!

But hey - the hiliday was booked before we found out about the baby so nothing we can do I guess.

Feel a bit less poo today - but got a really annoying sniffly cold! Sneezing not good!!

How is everyone else?
