I've just finished catching up with all these posts and now I want cheesecake!

I thought the nausea was starting to wear off but it seems to be back and worse than ever. Most of the time my face seems to be this colour: - a nice fetching shade of green.

I bf ds1 to start with and neither of us really took to it. After about 6 weeks I started introducing formula. By 4 months ds1 entirely bottle-fed and was much happier. Ds2 was entirely different and I found bf'ing sooo much easier. When I decided to give it up at about 6 months he was determined not to let me. I found with ds2 that I actually lost loads of weight while I was feeding him. Yay!

My scan is due on Thursday. The only thing I'm dreading is having to drink 6-8 glasses of water an hour before. I tried that last time and was sick everywhere.

RosiePosie · 04/09/2005 14:39

I'm pretty sure that the amount of water they advise you to drink is way too much - I only drank one small sized bottle of water and it was fine.

I'm another one who found the weight didn't shift until after I'd stopped - it dropped off then. I guess everyone is different.

Today I had pork pies and beetroot for lunch - normally yuck yuck yuck! But today, for some reason, it was delicious!

I have a really nasty cold/cough and I'm hacking away and my poor stomach muscles ache so much. The poor baby.

Frizbe · 04/09/2005 20:31

Hey RP looks like we have the same sort of metabolism then!

Phew its hot, where's the storm?

and am I the only one being eaten alive by all manner of flying and crawling bugs? normally they seem to avoid me, but I can count over 20 bites in assorted places during the last 3 days....grrrr.....

Jackstini · 05/09/2005 07:44

Coppertop - mine is Thursday too - 3 more sleeps til we see our beanies!

Munx lol at your idea to keep making bad meals - may have to try that

For anyone on the cheescake craving try that lemon cheescake flavoured yoghurt - not the same but still quite yummy

munz · 05/09/2005 11:03

Hello girls - blimey, it's taken me ages to read all the posts and catch up! Just had the most wonderful weekend away just with DH - it was our 5th wedding anniversary and we went to a bizarre hotel for 2 nights in Romney Bay in Kent. God what bliss not having to laugh at DS 'jokes' and cagole him and hurry him up and tell him off every five minutes...what an amazing break I had!

Feeling much much better than have done for last 3 months. Tummy is v.big now though - woman in hotel looked aghast when I told her I was due March (infact I lied and said end of feb cos I was so embarressed!) she actually said "oh my goodness, you're so....." and she made big tummy shape with her hands. That's outrageous isn't it!????!! .

Very excited so many south coasters on here - I'm in Brighton. We should definately have a meet up some time to compare bellies!

How is every one today?

munz · 05/09/2005 11:55

ooooooooooooh hay DHW glad u had a nice time. and yay a fellow southerner!

OP posts:
desperatehousewife · 05/09/2005 11:57

hey - fellow south coasters - do you know any nice family friendly not too big campsites around and about anywhere? Going camping this weekend with some friends who are coming from Putney south west london and can't find a decent site with spaces for the life of me!

munz · 05/09/2005 12:00

er, some our end of the woods, (caravan sites not sure about tents thou) in gosport area, don't know what they're like. ooh or hayling island used to have loads.

OP posts:
RosiePosie · 05/09/2005 12:37

Plenty of campsites ( and beaches! ) on the island, dhw - if you fancy the ferry trip. I spent my student days ( or half of them atleast ) in Brighton, loved it!

catj · 05/09/2005 13:07

Hi everyone!!!
I'm from the south coast too-bit further west in Poole. Just spent the w/e in Lincolnshire visiting a friend. Hardly felt sick then but now I've come back so has it. Must have been too busy to think about it! Not long til my scan on Weds.

munz · 05/09/2005 13:10

oh cat how exciting, for u, we must all be from along the south coast on this thread?

well beanie seem's to have enjoyed the dinner of cheese and pickled onion sarnies and a yoghurt for lunch! - thankfully something's finally stayin in!

OP posts:
swiperfox · 05/09/2005 13:16

Hellooo! Can't believe we're all along the south coast!! How mad is that?!

Had a lovely day yesterday, we went to Bournemouth and spent the whole day flat out on the beach - apart from dd dragging me into the sea and getting me drenched!! Was really nice. My sickness has practically gone now which was a big help!!
Today is her first day at her new pre-school, I've just dropped her off, bless her. She's all excited! I've spent the whole of the holidays looking forward to sending her off and now she's gone I want to go and pick her up!!

Haven't rung the hospital yet - we're having a mad panic about losing our house at the mo so it's kind of been put on the back foot for now Hopefully things will get sorted.

Glad to see everyone else ok and doing well!

We're not army Munz - don't think I could cope with a soldier for a dp!! We moved there by accident thinking we were going to a quiet little village - which it was - apart from the tanks flying up and down the road and the jets flying over!!!

munz · 05/09/2005 13:19

ah - oh well, i'll be the loner on me todd with JM&B! lol. (wise choice u made there! sailsbury - noisey - never whatchooon'bout woman! ) I tell u now if DH got posted closer than blandford to sailsbury plain we'll be moving back to portsmouth! - well me and beanie will do!

hope all work's out with the house. how's it coming on with the hospital?

OP posts:
desperatehousewife · 05/09/2005 15:56

anyone else thinking about more drastic measures for contraception after these babies are born!??? .

I'm trying to persuade DH to get the snip - seems only fair really!?

Anyone know what's involved in having the snip?

And is female sterilisation a hysterectomy? Because that is pretty major isn't it - I mean in terms of the op and the physical implications?

RosiePosie · 05/09/2005 16:09

As this one is number three and unplanned, dh is having the snip next year - he's actually agreed! As far as I know female sterilisation isn't as drastic as a hysterectomy - I think it involves getting your fallopion tubes snipped or tied. It's a much more complicated op than the male version though, with atleast a two week recovery, as oppposed to 2-3 days for a man. Mind you, if I have to have a CS, I'd request a sterilisation at the same time.

desperatehousewife · 05/09/2005 16:33

do you think you can do that - request sterilisation at same time as c-section? wouldn't it make recovery even harder?

munz · 05/09/2005 16:50

no idea girls, I was going to go back to using my persona monitor, or back on the pill - not sure which yet. the snip well dad had it, don't knoww hat's involved, don't think DH would do it. it's far less recovery for the man.

OP posts:
desperatehousewife · 05/09/2005 17:12

I can't go on the pill because of blood pressure problems and i've heard terrible things about the coil so figure sterilisation is the way forward! DH isn't automatically jumping for joy at the thought of having his bits tampered with though!

swiperfox · 05/09/2005 17:17

Hiya - this number 3 is also unplanned and has been a big shock to the system!! I'm also trying to talk dp into getting the snip. There were a couple of threads about it the other night - one about vasectomies and the other about sterelisation during c/s - i'll see if i can find them and do a link. Vasectomies are definately 100% easier and safer as far as i know. The cut is like a paper cut a couple of mm's in size if that - hardly compares to what we've done for them eh??!!

desperatehousewife · 05/09/2005 17:18

exactly swiper!

RosiePosie · 05/09/2005 17:42

I'm pretty sure if it's an elective CS you can get a sterilisation done at the same time. Probably not if it's an emergency one, as they'd need to talk it through with you before hand I would imagine. I figure if they're cutting me open and sewing me back up again they may as well kill two birds with one stone. However, I've not had a CS before, so I guess the chances of having one this time is smaller.

newgirl · 05/09/2005 19:15

coppertop - I just had a scan at 13 weeks (this afternoon!) and I had a large mug of tea 25 minutes before and that was fine - the scanner was 15 minutes late and if I'd drunk anymore I would have burst on the floor. 6-8 glasses sounds way too much - I think thats what you are meant to have in a day to keep your skin glowing?

hello again dhw! I am going to go and ask my DH about the snip!! that should make for a lively evening. I think he wants to stay intact in case he divorces me one day!

ps had the nuchal this afternoon. Baby very cute (well looked like the last baby I had) and active - was on his/her tummy, then showed us his/her bottom then back. then waved and went on to back for a sleep/photo. Shame I was so grumpy about being kept waiting (and it cost me £130!!!!!!!!!!) test results tomorrow so fingers crossed all is ok
