Thank goodness, Gin , I was beginning to panic!

ginhag · 16/08/2010 21:27

Went out t'pub for food as mooch at mum n dad's. Lovely food, and I insisted on having the pork pie and picalilli from the bar snacks menu as my starter. Home made picalilli = lush.

rollerbaby · 17/08/2010 09:50

gin please may I come on holiday with you?

I think me and mr moo are going to have to consider separate rooms in the week. I am keeping the poor man awake (oh the shame) with my SNORING!!!! Oh my god, how bad is that? I think all the extra weight or something is causing my vocal cords to take off in the middle of the night. Is that bad? I don't want to sleep in separate rooms, but don't know what else to do!

okie just went a wee bit bonkers on Bob and Blossom. So gorgeous.

OkieCokie · 17/08/2010 11:37

Moo we have resorted to sleeping in separate beds apart from lately we managed to share a bed 5 nights in a row. However I kicked him out again last night (due to his snoring) and I woke up this morning lying across the bed surrounded by 4 pillows plus my special v pillow. Lone sleeping is ace while preggers and frankly there is not much action going on in the bedroom department at the moment. We always start off together and then at some point one of us gets hoofed out.

Had hospital appt this morning. All fine with everything and hope to get my "fit to fly" letter later this week so I can have last mini hol (now bloody strike is off) before baybeeee arrives!

Muse sorry to hear about your scan buddy - it is shit. And gin great news on your scan news.

rollerbaby · 17/08/2010 12:02

Oooh that sounds nice - he's in the spare room tonight. Who gets the dog though?????

when are you off on your mini break you lucky cah.

Muser · 17/08/2010 12:11

MrM has just emailed me to say "I saw you frowning at your trousers this morning. Do you want me to give you some money to buy new clothes with?"

He is a total hero. He knows I'm a bit skint at the moment. I can go shopping! And buy trousers that fit!

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 17/08/2010 13:26

Muse he sounds like a sweetie - an observant sweetie at that! Enjoy the comfort that is mat pants. However, I do have a cheapo trousers tip: you can continue to wear your own trousers for a surprisingly long time if you secure the button with a hair elastic and then cover the top of the trousers with a bump band (available in New look, H&M or Esprit for about a fiver). It is actually very comfortable and has the added bonus that it doesn't matter if some of your tops ride up a bit. I only bought actual maternity pants quite recently and wore a lot of my looser summer clothes with the elastic. Worked like a charm!

honey and okie I have also turned into the lightest sleeper ever (I always was a bit) and though boyfy isn't outrageous in the snoring department, he does wake me up once or twice a night. I just whisper to him to stop and he does omstly, but sometimes i too take a dive into the spare room to luxuriate in a sea of pillows...

gin delighted for you! Have a great holiday.

Muser · 17/08/2010 13:33

I tried that with my jeans witty but it was uncomfy having my belly poke out of the zip - and I can't do the zip up.

rollerbaby · 17/08/2010 14:14

But it's ME that snoring!!!! Boo hooooooooo.

Muse I could never do the hairband trick. Jeans stopped fitting around 11 or 12 weeks and straight into mat pants. My top tips are:

baggy linen trousers which will last you right up til the end (I have 2 pairs and wear them constantly)

spend some money on jeans that are comfy and you like. Top Shop ones were shit for me and fell down all teh time. I spent a bit more and have worn them to death - also feel a bit more 'normal' and not as fat as I am. Easy to dress up too.

Dresses - have been ace - get 2 or 3 that you can wear to work, sling a denim jacket over, or nice cardy (that you have already) for more dressy. Dresses are so comfy on the days when you just don't want contstricting trousers. Which is alot. Also dare I say it, but with all the extra goo trousers need washing more often.

Tops - found top shop vests £7 each amazing and have them in each colour. Worn under shirts and stuff i had before. I quickly found that my normal tops didn't cover my tum which looks really shit and is annoying for you. Other than that didn't buy too many tops at all actually.

Feel free to ignore - just what's worked for me. Its scary to get to 29 weeks though and realise you still have 11 weeks more growth to go so no doubt I'll have to buy more soon.

If you're still reading you deserve a medal. I'll shut up now.

OkieCokie · 17/08/2010 15:24

Moo top tip on the mat tops. I have a couple of nice stripy t-shirts which are non mat and I had to stop wearing them as they ride up and show my gut tum tum, not a good look!

I live in black wrap round dresses for work days when I have meetings. I also am a fan of the Isabella Oliver wrap top which grows with you despite it being a bit of a PITA when you need to loo but looks good with a lot of things

However, Muse be careful carrying all those shopping bags, you don't want to damage your baybeeeeee.

Medee · 17/08/2010 15:42

I'm watching IO tops on Ebay - they're not cheap, so obviously hold their value well.

CurlyCasperBaggedABairn · 17/08/2010 16:08

moo tell him your snoring is nothing compared to a baby that grunts and strains at top volume all night. He might as well get used to it.

I snored terribly in pregnancy. Now, during the few hours sleep I get, I just dribble on the pillow. Lots. So not glamorous

Cosmosis · 17/08/2010 17:13

I have cleaned out my fridge and have some flapjack in the oven. Nesting anyone? Wink

OkieCokie · 17/08/2010 21:10

What is everyone doing? Laying baybees or something? Tres quiet around these parts lately.

rollerbaby · 17/08/2010 21:37

I am so bored. Stalking past colleagues on Linked in.

rollerbaby · 17/08/2010 21:39

husbo refuses to go in spare room. refuses to wear ear plugs that have been chewed by dog. hmm. another sleepless night for him then...

smokie do you have a bit of a tight chest? feel like can't breathe as easily... lungs must be a bit squished.

Backinthebox · 17/08/2010 21:46

No laying of baybees going on here, but very bored.

OkieCokie · 17/08/2010 21:49

Yes, I get out of breath walking to the loo and back - a frequent occurance. I even get out of breath talking! And since I like talking that is a bit annoying.

OkieCokie · 17/08/2010 21:52

any more lurkers?

OkieCokie · 17/08/2010 21:58

Had a bit of a winge today at the hospital about my bad back ishooos which have been on going since about 18 weeks. I was hoping for some physio and a couple of massages a week but she told me to try sitting on a ball for now! Is this really going to solve my ishooos or should I bit a bit more forceful?

FannyPriceless · 17/08/2010 21:59

Yes I'm here...

Medee · 18/08/2010 08:11

I had visitors so no posting last night.

Bizarrely, my belly feels smaller at the moment. THank goodness the scan is on Friday.

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 18/08/2010 09:40

Ahoy hoy
medee don't go worrying about changing belly size at this point as much of the bump is bloating and water retention and various digestive issues rather than baby and it is normal for it to go up and down. I remember this happening to me. The scan will be really reassuring I am sure - and just a day to go!

okie I am starting to have serious back twinges too. Time to invest in or borrow a ball I reckon. I hope this will help as there doesn't seem to be a whole lot more on offer. An osteopath would be an other option if the pain is bad - I don't quite feel it would warrant that in my case.

Confession: I snore too - and not just in pregnancy - and I have been known to dribble on the pillow and even on my own arm (though actually not in pregnancy as I can't sleep on my stomach anymore which was the prime position for that :)) but luckily boyfy has always been able to sleep through these distractions. Honey: I have an earplug recommendation for your man (I kinda sympathise with him not wanting the chewed ones Wink). It is an Italian brand called "Calmor" and they are use-once plugs made of some kind of wax. They come in a box of maybe 20 or 30 pairs which costs about 7?. I bet you could get them on the net. Anyway, they are very comfortable (way better than ordinary ear plugs) and work really well. I don't really like earplugs, but do tolerate these ones sometimes so as not to have to move to the spareroom and they really do work.

muse hope you found some nice pants.I have one pair I'm very happy with and one that is too big and falls down all the time. Problem for me is that the mat pants tend to come in standard lengths only and 32 leg is just too short and looks incredibly vile. My darling mum lengthened one pair for me and these are lovely - as honey says, I actually feel kinda normal in them, which is great for days when the suspicion that you look like a big whale is to the forefront of the mind...
