Hurrah for the start of mat leave, Box. How long will you be off for?

Medee · 11/08/2010 20:26

I got a letter regarding my blood tests, saying that because I was Rh negative I had certain antibodies. I had expected this, as I knew my blood type, but WTEWYE says that the father should also have his blood tested - does this happen, or do they just give you the preventative jabs anyway?

SilverSky · 11/08/2010 20:29

Man boxybox you lucky mare!!! Today I was dreaming of ML. Wishing my life away so I am but it beats being at work sitting in a crap chair getting severe backache and completing dull tasks. Inwould rather be at home waiting for the stork to deliver my baybee.

Least it's hump day to to tomorrow!!

Backinthebox · 11/08/2010 20:34

If the father knows he is Rhesus negative too, there is no chance that the baby can be anything other than Rhesus negative as well. So no need for the jabs. However if the father is Rhesus positive the baby could go either way. There is no risk in this pregnancy, however if the baby's blood becomes mixed with yours at any point, either due to an accident during pregancy or during the birth, you will develope antibodies which will 'protect' you from any further incidents of Rhesus positve blood interaction - which may well be your next pregnancy!

There are other ways of dealing with things than to have the jabs as routine - you can have cord blood testing done when your baby is born to see if there has been any mixing of the blood before deciding to have a jab. Ask your midwife.

Backinthebox · 11/08/2010 20:35

Hump day???

Medee · 11/08/2010 20:46

Thanks Box - I knew that it only mattered if he is Rh +, but I don't think he knows his blood type. Just wanted to know what the likely NHS experience was, if anyone knew. I'll ask at my next appt anyway.

SilverSky · 11/08/2010 21:01

Hump day is Wednesday! Middle of the week! Soon to be the weekend.

SilverSky · 11/08/2010 21:10

Spotted a good book on Smiths today. It's a Miriam Stoppard number called "First Time Parents" and from what I read I really liked it!! Not much on the preggo period but enough and then lots of info from having the baby through to bringing the baby home after the hospital etc and how to hold/bathe/feed and what to expect at the six week check. Perhaps not everyone's cup of tea but not a bad investment or freebie if you are reading it in Smiths during your lunchbreak.

FannyPriceless · 11/08/2010 21:37

Hump day is Wednesday?Confused Do you mean like the Wednesday in ''?
(Which reminds me, it's Wednesday.Wink)

clucky I know what you mean about pink. I would dress baby Bonnie in all sorts of so called neutral colours: green, grey, red, etc. But without fail she was referred to as a boy! So it seems that the rules are a boy baby can wear any colour you choose, but a girl baby must be dressed in pink from head to toe, with bows, glitter, and princess embellishments.Hmm

box Well done on the ML.Smile

Medee · 11/08/2010 22:48

that sounds interesting, Silver. I got a catalogue from NCT today, all a bit scary, all the stuff we need to think about.

PerfectDromedary · 11/08/2010 22:58

Am quite impressed with your ability to look ahead, Medee. I am still holding my breath until the scan convinces me that I might actually be pregnant. Will deal with real baby when I has the sneeze.

Am feeling a bit odd because symptoms are so much better today. This is just because I'm 11 weeks and I'm used to it, right?

PollyPoo · 12/08/2010 01:27

How long til the scan Drom?

SilverSky · 12/08/2010 05:02

Humphrey same happened to me. Week 11 all of a sudden felt perfectly normal with no symptoms. Scared myself shitless. Needn't have panicked cos the constat pukey feeling and shiz soon returned.

---- should have read I iz still hating the iPhone's arsing predictive text.

Sleep evades me once again following an early morning pit stop to have a whizz. Would like to finish my book I am Reading but no bedside light and if put "big light" on I will get whinged at. Tho Him Indoors could sleep through WW1 and WW2 and not even stir so perhaps I will chance it. The night before last I didn't even need to pee in the night so it's not every night I am getting up and some nights I can get straight back to sleep. Maybe it's cos it's got warmer again??

Cosmosis · 12/08/2010 09:09

I also had same lessening of symptoms, I think it was about wk 10, all sickness stopped and the 2 weeks waiting for the scan was torture.

So mw appointment yesterday was good, everything ok, baby now 2/5ths palpable so properly dropped from 2 weeks ago when was only on brink of cervix. I knew there was a lot more pressure than before!!

She said she wouldn't at all be surprised if it was here before next appointment on 25th Shock fanny bring towels and boiling water to lunch next week ;) however, baby is back to back, so need to do much lying on ball and sittgin on ball and tgo has banned me from sofa in favour of dining chair instead.

silver I have started getting up and going downstairs to read when I can't sleep.

Clucky you got kicked in the tummy! Try telling that to Kiki who carried a cake and ate an M&S risotto and thought her baby was going to DIE.

Cos you could wash kitchen floor on hands and knees to try and get baybeee to turn correct way.

Just got a Hotel Chocolate delivery from a v nice client which includes a rocky road slab and lots of smaller bar selections nom nom. I never get anything delivered to the office so I feel speshal .

Muser · 12/08/2010 10:59

Halfway through week 11 and no sign of symptoms abating here. Can I ask an anxious question? Should I be at all worried that I have now lost 8lbs? Bob doesn't need much, right? And as I am about 3 stone overweight it's not like I'm about to collapse. But I'm ever so slightly freaked out.

OkieCokie · 12/08/2010 11:18

Relish in the weight loss Muser. As long as your are stuffing your face still then there is nowt to worry about.

OkieCokie · 12/08/2010 11:47

Anyway Muser step away from the scales!

Muser · 12/08/2010 11:51

I am not stuffing my face, that's why I'm losing weight. I feel too sick to eat much. My portion sizes have become tiny and breakfast is consigned to history.

Yesterday I bought a cheese & pickle baguette from Pret and think I managed about a quarter of it.

I do generally manage to eat my dinner though, so that's something.

PollyPoo · 12/08/2010 12:01

Muse sorry to hear you are still feeling so crap. I wouldn't worry too much though. Baybees are pretty much parasites and it will be making sure it gets all it needs met before you do. If you were unable to keep any food down I'd be more worried, but I'm sure all will be ok. You could always ring MW for a chat if it would put your mind at rest? I was worried about baybee's growth due to losing weight after the first 3 months (when I stuffed my face to get rid of the ms) and people telling me I looked too small. Scan revealed baybee is fine, growing well and all is as it should be. I think it was Cunty who lost weight all through pregnancy too.

Drom all my symptoms disappeared at around 10-11 weeks. Made me menkul like a menkul thing, tis horrible.

rollerbaby · 12/08/2010 12:36

drom my MS stopped overnight at 11 weeks too. Was ace although shocked at the fact I didn't feel like dying all of a sudden.

muse don't worry, your baby is getting everything it needs. As long as you are getting something in each day you will be ok. Relish in the fact you haven't put on a stone before the baby really starts outwardly growing - i.e. like me.

okie chocolate!!! yum yum. nice clients. Mine just demand loads of shit and call me at 7am. Bless you about babyshower! I have organised a little brunch for October now... did you get my email?

cossie good news on baby drop. Yes can you wait for fanny to arrive so we can have blow by blow acccount of labour?

I went to see MW yesterday for week 28 appointment. I have to say she scared me somewhat, not so much as in what she said but what she didn't or couldn't say. She seemed to be without basic communication skills and read out the bit of my notes about why breastfeeding is good. Yes I know, I can read!!! And any helpful questions she could have answered were completely unclear and ambiguous. It was the oddest thing. Mr moo and I kept exchanging looks. Seriously though, if I go for homebirth and I get a muppet like her, I think that would seriously make me think twice. I guess you have to assume she knows what she is doing, but it does make you wonder.

OkieCokie · 12/08/2010 12:57

Yes my MS stopped all of a sudden too, just wish I could shake this tiredness! However, I think I am lumbered with that for the next 8 years at least. I often find myself in bed counting the max number of hours sleep I will get if I fall asleep instantly and often it falls below 8 hrs which is what I need to function like a vaguely normal human being. Also, I guess it doesn't help that I have had a lot of social gatherings lately. Last night was leaving do of 2 of my colleagues - yes, out of 4 of us left in the UK, 2 have resigned and therefore we are now 2 - tis going to be like a morgue in here PLUS I now have the hassle of trying to recruit bloody people before I sod off myself for a year.

Moo yes got your email thanks, it is in the diary.

OkieCokie · 12/08/2010 12:58

Moo more importantly how are the iron levels or was she so useless that was not discussed?

Muser · 12/08/2010 13:09

Thanks all. I keep telling myself it will be ok. I have the pre-scan panic though. Scan is on Monday and I'm so worried that something will have gone wrong. This is just the newest one.

I have discovered Reversey Percy Pigs are quite good for stopping me feeling pukey.

It's so annoying though. I was feeling ok and then had some lunch and now feel sick again. I thought eating was meant to HELP!

No doubt when this passes and my appetite returns I'll be worrying that I've gained 3 stone in half an hour.

rollerbaby · 12/08/2010 13:23

Exactement. It's terriying the speed at which I have now reached my heaviest weight EVER. The dog couldn't get over my hulk last night when he tried to get in bed for a cuddle. His legs were flapping around as he climbed over me.

okie annoyingly have to wait ANOTHER 4 weeks until 32 weeks now until blood results of yesterday back. Or I wonder can I ring and find out??? I didn't ask actually. So steak and broccoli continues. You are my hero. I was buggered yesterday after my 'late night' at your little soiree! The good news was that Mr Moo spent the entire evening (and 4 cans of beer) bless him making ikea bedside tables for the spare room.
