I thought I'd start a due May 2006 club even though its very early in the month for it.

My stats are

ME: 31
DH: 30
DD: 3 next week!
Next DB due: May 1st (4 weeks pregnant today!)

Just been to the docs to get it all confirmed and seeing the midwife tomorrow. Look forward to more of you joining me as the month progresses!

Actually, I expect to have an elective section after an emergency one with DD so db will probably be born at the end of April. But like the idea of a May thread nonetheless!

my first dd was also OP which explains my slow labour and transfer in from home. expect I wd have had a c/s too if i'd been in the hosp all along. wasn't late though - but did have acupuncture when I got to my due date and think that may have helped.
and you do never know what size baby you can get out. both mine have been big 8-9 pounds, with extra big heads 36.5 and 38.5cm (I blame dh) and I'm just average size.

they say there are a lot more OP labours than there used to be. perhaps cos we're all sitting at desks and in cars and not working the fields or doing the hoovering leaning forwards.
so we can all try for optimal fetal positioning. even those of us with spd and ppp probably... I reckon that being on all fours doing back exercises shd help all round. any way I'll give it a try. dont know what my colleagues will think if they see me taking a break like that
good luck to those going for VBAC

zzoey · 14/01/2006 16:20

Mandymoo
just seen you asked re spd - is symphysis pubis dysfunction. is pain in the pubic area, can go into thighs or lower tummy. hurts especially if you try to stand on one leg, like to put your socks on or go upstairs or get out of a car.
mine is mild and just an annoyance
but it can get really bad and be difficult even to walk at all, or end up on crutches
and really annoying, can go on for months after the birth too
I dont know what ppp stands for - assume this same problem but in back. all caused by hormones loosening our ligaments...

Hello everyone

Hope your all feeling well.

Had sex this morning and I noticed i bled slightly after. There is no pain so I'm hoping to bleed a little is normal. It was more spotting than bleeding. Anyone else experience this?

cori · 15/01/2006 19:52

I have not experienced this myself. But have heard it is not uncommon to bleed a little after sex. Give the midwife a call in the morning if it continues.

Mandymoo · 16/01/2006 09:55

Hi all - hope you are all well!

Well, i am now 24 weeks + 1 and feeling ok ish. Very tired, hurts when i stand up and mood swings are pretty unpredictable atm! I had PND with dd and so am very very very aware of my moods atm. I am almost pre-empting the fact that i will get it again. DIdnt take any medication last time and managed it quite well so hopefully all will be well this time.

I want to give up work NOW!! Work 3 days in a row (i know this sounds wet) but its too much. I'm barely seeing DD atm. Anyway, i might start another thread about my rants!

Pregnancy wise, bump is big, I am huge and my craving for chocolate and cake shows no signs of disappearing!

Hope all is good with you guys XX

Imafairy · 16/01/2006 13:42

Hello there.

Hope you all had a good weekend. Am feeling generally okay, although heartburn struck with avengence at the weekend, and am getting pains in my pelvis, which I didn't get first time around.
Read with interest the comments on posterior births, DS was posterior, 2 weeks late (though labour started naturally) and took 30 hours, ventouse and forceps before he came out, which was in part due to his being posterior, and in part because he was a ten pounder!
Oh and all the nasty people on the tube today decided NOT to offer me a seat (even though I caught some of them looking at my bump, and I'm wearing a tight top and have a well formed bump so it's not like they thought I was just fat!) which put me in a v.bad mood to start the week!!!
Feel better after that rant !!!!

littlemisspiggy · 16/01/2006 15:46

Imafairy-
Know what you mean about the tube - I didn't get offered a seat either - everyone pretended not to notice -GRRR!

cori · 16/01/2006 16:45

If i have to catch the tube and feel I need a seat and no one offers I just ask, in a loud voice to no one in particular 'would someone mind giving me a seat' Honestly they are more embarressed than you.

thebecster · 17/01/2006 12:10

I get so cross with people on the Tube who don't give up their seats. A few weeks ago I was on the Tube and a bloke actually pushed me out of the way to get to a seat. I'm afraid pregnancy hormones make me really stroppy so before I even thought about it I said 'Oh, sorry, didn't notice that you were pregnant too!' (He had a huge beer belly). I guess I'm lucky he didn't punch me! Someone else offered me a seat straight away - I think just to shut me up . Another time one of my friends was commenting that it was bad that no-one had offered me a seat when we were standing on a packed tube. I said, quite loudly, 'Well I can't judge them because they might have a really good reason for not giving up their seat. For all I know they could be on their way to have chemotherapy, or be an amputee or something. I'm sure if any of them were actually well enough to stand they'd...' ... and as if by magic a seat appeared

S'funny 'cos I'm normally very unassertive. To use DH's words - Pregnancy has made me very scarey!

HandbagAddiction · 17/01/2006 12:56

Sorry to hear you're all having a nightmare with the tube. Fortunately for me, because I either get in before 8am of after 09:30 and in the evening leave at either 4pm or after 6:30pm - I usually manage to get a seat everytimr. The only exception is on the Bakerloo line back to Waterloo - but since I only have one stop to go - I'm not usually too bothered though. I do have a concern about people bumping into me in their panic to get on a train...it's only work for god's sake...surely people can just take it a bit easier?!

Anyway - great to catch up on everyone's news.

Lovecloud - please just call your midwife if you are at all concerned. I'm sure it's OK though.

So where am I then - well 21 weeks now and growing - although someone at yoga last week said I had a 'tidy' bump considering this was my second. Made me feel better as I seriously thought I was huge compared to last time! Had my scan yesterday which was great. Decided not to find out about the sex as dh was dead against it..and given that I get to decide almost everything else with this pregnancy, I thought it only fair to indulge him this once! I do however have a low lying placenta which now explains my two episodes of bleeding. Fortunately, it only slightly overlaps the birth canal so the sonographer is 99% sure that it will move up and won't prevent a normal delivery. Have to go back for another scan at 32 weeks though to check how it's all looking.

Enid · 17/01/2006 13:00

25 weeks and feeling pretty good - tiredness suddenly hits like a wave and comes from nowhere though so whether I will be able to work up till a couple of weeks before due date is up for negotiation!

still working, juggling the kids and keeping dh happy though, so far.

hockeymum · 17/01/2006 16:44

hats off to all of you still managing to work full time (let alone those of you getting the tube you brave souls!) Listening to your posts on travelling to work makes me exhausted.

Well I havent been out of the house in two weeks now on doctors orders (unless you count the 6 visist a week I have to make to the hospital to see them for them to say rest!) I'm now on steroids and a 6th course of antibiotics for this recurrent chest infection and on 8 medications in total. Said the doctor today "its not surprising really that you've got thrush and piles on top of everything else after all the antibiotics and iron" (as if it was my choice to take antibiotics and iron).

I'm actually feeling more positive today and hope my house arrest will be over in a couple of weeks, it will be lovely to be back in the land of the living with the three dimensional people!

Have you all had your scans yet? If you havent then I do hope you enjoy the experience, I'd have one every day if I could. I hope you are all having lots of kicks now too.

OP posts:
lovecloud · 18/01/2006 12:29

oh the tube - i hated it.

i was heavily pregnant with dd1 and travelled on trains.tube/bus for 90min journey to work.

I HATED IT!!!

it was snowing and so icey!

as soon as the tube doors opended and people saw my bump expecially in the evenings they all buried theirs heads in the papers. made me so cross. i kind of understodd they too were tired and needed their seat but surely they could of got up two or three stops before they got off to let me have it for a while. there were days where i stood the entire journey!!!

one evening i was so fed up with standing and my lower back was aching so i just sat on the floor in the middle of the carriage and almost immediately there were some gasps and people jumped up to offer their seat... they all probably thought i was going to faint but i was just shattered and so hot with all my winter layers on.

but it worked so maybe you should try it.

more embarssing when i was 8 weeks pregnant i had came over all giddy on a tube and had to kneel down, a lady immediatley bent down and asked if i was ok, i whispered i was pregnant and that i just needed a minute - she suddenly shouted out loud to the carriage "CAN SOMEONE PLEASE GIVE THEIR SEAT UP FOR THIS PREGNANT LADY???" I was mortified as everyone looked thinking "yeah right is she pregnant!". I did get a seat with everyone staring at the pregnant lady...

littlemisspiggy · 18/01/2006 12:34

Good on that lady LC. I have done that before if I see a pg woman and no one getting up. It's seems easier to be brave and feisty on someone else's behalf than one's own.

runtus · 18/01/2006 12:58

Oh god the Bakerloo line, that was a joy this morning....not. Had the added delight of getting off at Regents park and having to carry my fully loaded pullalong laptop bag up 3 flights of stairs.....the joy. lets just say the company is pickingup the tab for a cab back to Waterloo tonight.

Feeling ok apart from that, tired again but OK. Kind of feels like my stomach isn't quick enough at stretching sometimes and might explode - but I guess it catches up in time as it hasn't happened yet!

lovecloud · 18/01/2006 13:11

runtus- know that tummy stretchy feeling!

yesterday felt like i was going to explode after dinner, had t go for a walk to even it out

runtus · 18/01/2006 14:05

Had a horrible dream last night that I, the baby and the cat (for some reason he was included and not my other half!) all died. All because I watched that programme about the mountain in the US exploding last night on TV...........we all died from inhaling gas in my dream......... Woke up feeling really depressed and oddly upset, even though I knew it was a dream. Horrible.

Going to Hamleys on the way home to cheer myself up - I reckon a big teddy bear for the baby is in order!

cori · 18/01/2006 20:55

I have been having lots of horrible dreams lately. Mostly about something happening to DS. I think it's the hormones.

runtus · 19/01/2006 08:53

I think it must be.....that and the fact I'm a total wuss and can't wantch anything even remotely scary or nasty on the telly!

nez · 19/01/2006 12:30

Hello ladies!
I too have been having weird and vivid dreams. Keep waking up and saying things to dh like 'take the dog out now' - we don't have a dog! Was also caught talking to baby (looked like talking to myself)in Tescos. It was kicking like mad so I asked it if I should go for the chocolate or not. Only realised when lady next to me said it was very nice (green and blacks: MMm)
Had another scan to check head measurements and all is well. Again, the sonographer wouldn't let me look, while dh kept saying 'Wow' 'is that the heart?' etc. They have a policy of not telling the sex; we were undecided whether to find out or not. I just wanna buy something cute that is not lemon or white!

lovecloud · 19/01/2006 22:05

Hello

Hands up for weird dreams too.

I am so shattered at the moment. I have started to take day time naps when I can (work part time). I had to do these in the early weeks of pregnancy.

Where is the energy I am supposed to feel?

littlemisspiggy · 20/01/2006 10:22

i dreamt that I gave birth 6 weeks early. told DH and he just buried his head in his hands.
Also v.tired and suffering again from dreadful wind which is a bit awkward when I'm at work and struggle to get to the loos in time to let rip (sorry tmi). Anyone got any tips to ease it?

runtus · 20/01/2006 12:53

Anyone else feel like the baby is really low down most of the time? I can't work out if I am just not used to the feeling (never having been pg before) or if in fact, the baby is really low down!

Sometimes feels hard to walk, as if the baby is putting pressure on my lower regions already! Am I going mad??

cori · 20/01/2006 13:50

Yes and this baby doesnt like me sitting for a long time either, especially when I am in the car. I dont know what he is doing but it is really uncomfortbale. He seems to be all over the place, even thoough the discomfort is low down, I have felt Kicks, punches near the top of bump.

runtus · 20/01/2006 14:21

Sounds exaclty like mine Cori, long travels in a car are a nightmare aren't they? I drove to my mums last weekend (about 1.20 hours) and by the time I got there the baby was basically banging to be let out!!

Glad it's not just me though, thought I was going mad!
