I thought I'd start a due May 2006 club even though its very early in the month for it.

My stats are

ME: 31
DH: 30
DD: 3 next week!
Next DB due: May 1st (4 weeks pregnant today!)

Just been to the docs to get it all confirmed and seeing the midwife tomorrow. Look forward to more of you joining me as the month progresses!

Actually, I expect to have an elective section after an emergency one with DD so db will probably be born at the end of April. But like the idea of a May thread nonetheless!

Morning!
Hope everyone is okay today.
Quick question - in anyone else still really tired? I don't have the same tiredness I had in the first trimester, but I'm sure last time around I had a hell of a lot more energy in the second than I'm currently experiencing.
I know last time around I was able to indulge myslef and go straight to bed when I came home from work, and sleep all weekend which is out of the question with a toddler to take care of, but even so!!
Any tips for how to inject a bit of zing back into my step??

runtus · 12/01/2006 11:02

I know it sounds like the exact opposite of what you want to do right now, but have you thought about doing some light exercise? I ask because I have recently started going to Aqaunatal classes and I have to say that as well as allowing me to feel very smug for doing exercise, it also makes me feel loads more energetic afterwards. Something to do with endorphins I imagine but it really does make me feel better. I know now the weather is crap and it gets dark so much quicker, I feel more sluggish and less inclined to do anything other than crawl under the duvet - but making myself go and do something (anything) does perk me up a bit.

Worth a try?

Enid · 12/01/2006 11:03

I would love to do some exercise - but cant as have terrible ppp

still, don't feel that tired either

runtus · 12/01/2006 11:21

Oh sorry - hadn't realised that..........does it rule out gentle swimming or could you maybe try that?

Sorry if I am suggesting totally inappapropriate things...........

tortoiseshell · 12/01/2006 11:29

Hi everyone, nice to read everyone's updates. I'm nearly 26 weeks, baby is kicking in the evening lots, feel HUGE, but bump is right size for dates. Getting heartburn now, and today feel really tired, but can't complain on the whole. Fingers crossed for a homebirth - had one with dd, loved it, so hopefully this one will go to plan too.

helsi · 12/01/2006 11:39

Hi all - just an update following my dr appt this am. He was cross that I hadn't taken lasy week off work like he suggested and has therefore now given me a sick note for 2 weeks. He examined me and said that the gap in my pubic bone feels slightly bigger than last week and that may be the cliking etc that I feel ad hear. He was not happy about the antenatal dr at the hospital seeing me as late as 36 weeks as he feels they need to see me sooner to discuss delivery options as he thinks that my chances of vbac have decreased from 60% to around 40/50%

Great. I was so looking forward to this pg and hoping it would be better than the last. I wanted to exercise and feel great. I can't even roll over in bed let alone anything else! sorry to moan but just feeling fed up.

Enid · 12/01/2006 11:42

swimming is fine runtus IF you can remember not to stretch too much and also doing breaststroke legs is the WORST thing you can do for it - I did this last week and suffered for two days after. Shame as I love swimming. Still a good excuse to veg out - will start running a couple of months after baby born.

runtus · 12/01/2006 12:25

Ahh well, feet up time for you then - doctors orders!

Imafairy · 12/01/2006 13:25

Thanks Runtus re: the Aquanatal. I tend to do everything in my life 'full-on', so Aquanatal could be just the thing to sort me out and force me to do something gentle and, as you say, feel smug afterwards!!!!
Am off to find a class.....

Mandymoo · 12/01/2006 20:28

can any of my may ladies please give me the sypmtoms of SPD???????? XXXXXXX

runtus · 13/01/2006 08:31

Good luck finding a class Imafairy, I had a bit of trouble but hopefully that is just Basingstoke being crap.............

hockeymum · 13/01/2006 10:17

runtus - you're in Basingstoke? thats where I'm from ! (though I now live in Cardiff) I'm in Basingstoke all the time cos both grandparents still live there! Yes and Basingstoke is crap for things like that, but at least your maternity unit is ok!

Oooh spooky! The world is just too small a place..........I moved here about 3 years ago from my native Kent.

The only place I found that does Aqaunatal is The Hampshire Clinic, which makes it pretty pricey at £10 a session but it is def worth it in my opinion. its conducted by a trained Physio and there have never been more than 3 people in the class so it feels nice and intimate, rather than being crammed into the local leisure centre with 30 others. Hope you find a class too!

I am soooo bored today - can tell the time till I go at 3 is just going to drag...............

HandbagAddiction · 13/01/2006 10:51

I find ante-natal yoga to be brilliant for exercise / relaxation / breathing. Started classes again last night and I have to say that afterwards, I had the best night's sleep I have had in a long time. You need to be over 16 weeks to do it - which most of us are...but I highly recommend it!

nez · 13/01/2006 11:08

Morning all,
Helsi - you poor thing. really hope you feel better soon. Felt guilty as I've been moaning to dh about permanently sore lower back. I can live with it! What is ppp?
Runtus - Am inspired to get moving. The grim cold winter does not help but you are right about exercise makiing you feel better. I went for very long walk (to pick up car from garage!!) and felt rather energetic afterwards.
Ta for home birth vote of confidence Zoey and others. If I end up in hospital so be it, but i want to try.
Becster - Wow!Acupuncture sounds interesting. Always wanted to try that.
Cheerio, Ner

sniff · 13/01/2006 11:50

I have had my scan thay say its a little girl because of these three white lines they can see looked completly different with both the boys I am so pleased baby is absolutly fine as well the food poisoning and stomach problems have not affeted her I am so pleased

thebecster · 13/01/2006 14:06

Really glad your baby is okay sniff. Sorry to hear about people's ailments. I'm still sick a lot of the time, especially early in the morning, but otherwise okay. I went to antenatal pilates last night, antenatal yoga the night before and am considering swimming tonight if I'm not feeling too nauseous. I'm making up for the first 3 months when all I could do was be sick & sleep!
ANYWAY it was my scan yesterday, and it's a boy! I'm so excited! I've had vivid dreams about a little boy since I was 5 weeks pregnant but I didn't want to let myself get too attached to the idea before I knew for sure - would be just as happy with a girl, it just 'felt' like a boy. So I was right, and now I can relax & enjoy my dreams! He's very healthy and all his measurements were bang on 'average', which won't last, considering his DNA! But now is a good time for him to be just average. He can start being a bit weird when he's a teenager

cori · 13/01/2006 15:42

I have been reading a lot about optimal fetal positioning, as I am trying for VBAC. It seems that DS was badly postioned last time, he was posterior (where his back was facing mine) so this could explain while I was two weeks overdue, as his head wasnt pressing on my cervix to start of labour. I have read it is quite common to end up with an emergency ceaserean in these case as labour never progresses.
I was very lazy towards the end of last pregnancy, ( well DS was due at the end of January) I just stayed at home and read books. I have plans for yoga, active birth classes, walking etc once maternity leave starts.

sniff · 13/01/2006 17:45

my last one was posterier too 2 weks late induction birth and 26 hours labour first one was the right way round and it was all over in 4 hours so I will be interested to read what you have found out

cori · 13/01/2006 19:18

Sniff here is a link on here

hockeymum · 13/01/2006 19:25

cori, thats interesting about the positioning. I was posterior with dd which explains why I was 20 days overdue and didnt fully dilate. I had an emergency c-section too. I'm actually having an elective this time because they did think my pelvic outlet was small, but do wonder whether it would fit out if it was facing the right way. Still, I'm going to have to be lazy again this time spending so much time in hospital and on bed rest so I expect this one will be posterior too.

Good luck with the activities everyone, you are making me feel very tired just reading about them!

Kittenpaws · 13/01/2006 19:45

Hi everyone, haven't logged on for ages and there are so many messages!
My 1st was also posterior and got stuck and had to have an emergency c-section. Haven't decided whether just to book an elective this time or whether to try for a VBAC - think I will wait and see how big this one is likely to be as they were concerned DD was too big for me.
Very pleased its Friday, have had very busy week at work and DD has been awake at 5.30 the last 2 mornings which I hope doesn't last as I'm really tired now. Other than being tired am thankfully feeling OK. Have the first appointment with my actual midwife next week which will be interesting, they will come to your house rather than having to trek to the doctors or the hospital most of the time which is great.

cori · 13/01/2006 19:47

Hockeymum, I was told that too by several midwives but my consultant said and that there was no way to predict how a pelvis might expand until your actually in labour.

I had thought about opting for an elective ceaserean as well, but after the consultants advice and reading about optimal fetal positioning, I am going to try for VBAC. I feel empowered.
