I thought I'd start a due May 2006 club even though its very early in the month for it.

My stats are

ME: 31
DH: 30
DD: 3 next week!
Next DB due: May 1st (4 weeks pregnant today!)

Just been to the docs to get it all confirmed and seeing the midwife tomorrow. Look forward to more of you joining me as the month progresses!

Actually, I expect to have an elective section after an emergency one with DD so db will probably be born at the end of April. But like the idea of a May thread nonetheless!

littlemisspiggy · 20/01/2006 14:53

Know what you mean to both of you. Difficult to believe I'm only 22 weeks it feels like 32.

thebecster · 20/01/2006 17:23

Yes mine feels 'low down' as well. He's fairly good though - he just has a little kick and a wriggle when I've had something nice to eat (he particularly likes chocolate, sensible boy).

And am definitely having weird dreams as is DH. I've also developed a habit of waking my DH up twice early in the morning. Firstly I wake him at 5am begging him to make me toast so that I'll stop throwing up (can't stop retching long enough to make it myself, sorry if tmi!). Then I wake him again at about 6am with the words 'Darling, I'm really worried about X' (where X is childcare/me being the size of a whale/whether I'll get demoted at work while I'm on maternity leave/giving birth/whether I'll be a crap mother etc. etc. etc.) Then we compare notes on our weird dreams the previous night. Last night DH dreamt he was a Professor of Physics and had to teach a class full of dogs who kept barking and he was telling them to shut up and listen to his theories on dark matter. I think that dream is the highest score on the weirdometer so far.

At least these early starts are preparing us for parenthood...

lovecloud · 20/01/2006 18:09

same here!

i carried my dd very high, my bump almost pointed upwards. with this pregnancy my bump has always been low and i feel the kicks really low down too sometimes under my knicker line.

TheIncubator · 21/01/2006 18:19

Same here on the low bump front. DH felt him move a couple of nights ago which was great. Can't say I've been having any particularly weird dreams though...

crumpet · 21/01/2006 21:33

Hi everyone. I've come on tonight to ask how your blood pressure is doing - mine shot up last week to 160/90 at its peak, so I've got to go back next week for more checks. Had bp problems with dd, but at a later stage (ended up with an induction/emergency cs). I'd just be interested to know whether your bp is staying the same as the pregnancy goes on, or whether it is going up too (and for those on your second pregnancy, is it higher in general this time?).

Feeling just about OK, tired all the time and think may have slight spd, but mainly don't like being breathless all the time! Starting to think about an elective cs (not now of course...), rather than go through the marathon like last time only to end up with a cs anyway

hockeymum · 22/01/2006 10:52

crumpet - I had high blood pressure last time at 18-24 weeks but this time its varied a lot, either high 160/85 or really low 110/55, often both in the same few days. A lot of it varies on the size of the cuff. I've also noticed it being much higher once you've rushed to a midwife appointment and have had more to fit in to the day. Try to eliminate as much stress as you can to make it a bit lower and rest with your feet above your heart level for a few hours a day (easier said than done) but thats the best way to lower the blood pressure.

crumpet · 22/01/2006 14:25

Thanks hockeymum - I'm due back in the early part of the week to be measured again, so hopefully it will have come down. I know what you mean about stress, but I work full time and really struggle to find a chance to relax during the day. Still, maybe the lottery will come through for me soon...

Interesting that your bp is flucutating so much, mine has been steady until now, and in the last pregnancy simply rose steadily and gradually until the last 6 weeks.

zzoey · 22/01/2006 21:54

Good luck with your BP Crumpet... get some extra rest, somehow, somewhere!
I've nothing to report on the blood pressure front, just normal low BP, same as last 2 pg, sometimes a bit too low so feel dizzy and sick standing up quick.
Full throttle on the wierd dreams though. and the heartburn. yuk.
don't use the tube often but regularly on the bus with my 2 dds and buggy. noone pays any attention to the bump! fortunately there's usually a seat... but when there's not I stand. I think i will try the sit on the floor method if I get desperate...

Morning girls, how are we all this morning then?

Not feeling too bad myself, had quite a productive w/end so feeling pretty positive. Went to Ikea and got loads of stuff in prep for the baby and also for the work being done on the house. Spent all day yesterday clearing the kitchen out ready for it to be ripped out this morning, and the new one put in this week..........house looks like a herd of wildebeast have been throughit but will be worth it in the end (people keep assuring me!)

On the BP front, I have always had really low BP and that doesn't seem to have changed so far. I get dizzy and funny flashy things infront of my eyes quite alot but to be honest there is nothing I can do about it and the MW is aware of it, so I am not going to worry about it.

Yet another weird dream last night (about a kitten with no fur??!)but as that was cut short by DP waking me up snoring..........it wasn't really the issue of the night!

helsi · 23/01/2006 16:26

Hi all,

just thought i would look in.

I am still off work with bad spd and ppp which is now getting no better but is no worse so that's good. I have now started with mild heartburn and also funny cramps in my tummy which I can't work out what they are.
Feeling ok in myself alhough keep having slight panics about money, how I wil cope with another, am I good enough etc etc - just hormones!

I am 26 weeks almost and feel like 36 weeks. Not due at hospital again for another 4 weeks although am having a GTT in February - valentines day of all days!

I am going on holiday on Sunday though so shold be a good break.

Enid · 23/01/2006 16:37

my bp is 90/55, not causing any probs except I do feel a bit fainty if I stand up quickly. Baby moving lots. No problems except feeling pretty hormonal, starting to worry about coping after the birth and v painful ppp, no change there then.

Enid · 23/01/2006 16:38

oh and am currently addicted to orange juice diluted with water with loads of ice - drink pints of it every day

hockeymum · 23/01/2006 16:55

you've got no problems with constipation then enid!!

I can't stomach orange juice this time round, it still makes me sick, but have developed a thing for Lidls dried apricots so I'm ok in that department as well!

Hello everyone

Hope you are all doing ok.

I really want to start buying baby things but I am holding back otherwise I will start and not stop and there are quite a few weeks to go yet.

Really feel like I have bonded with the baby this month, feel like we have a little relationship going on and that I know him/her already. He/she is so responsive for the last few weeks whenever I want the baby to move, all I have to do is talk to him/her run my belly and then they kick or push - lovely

I lie there every night now and watch my belly move around, I swear that did not happen until the end when pregnant with dd.

I am still very neat, all on the front and low down. I am eating alot more this pregnancy bad and good food but I swear I am smaller - ah well, guess I should not complain. Mw measured my belly and its the right measurment not that its guaranteed accurate.

Another thing is my poos are so soft I have not experienced constipation once this pregnancy. if anything its the other way around, I go the same time everyday and when i get the feeling I HAVE TO GO!

Anyone else like this? Do you reckon its ok? Forgot to mention it to my mw.

Still trying to decide home birth or hospital. Would like a pool at home but they are so expensive and the cheap ones do not come with filters or anything to keep the temp warm.

Decisions decisions

squidgeymiller · 23/01/2006 21:33

Hi all, haven't been on for a while so it's nice to see everyone's getting lots of movements (of various kinds). I think my bp is OK but don't really know - my mw hasn't said anything about it so assume it's normal (100/80?). baby's been moving lots recently, and the last few days has insisted in kicking downwards and getting me in the "naughties" , which is actually not very pleasant, although it's always nice to feel him/her moving.
I keep getting told off by DH for calling the baby "it", he says I should refer to it as "baby", but I just feel silly! I think baby's psychicly linked to me though because he/she tends to move more when I'm thinking about him/her or looking at baby things on the net or in shops. Or I could just be imagining it!
Baby is generally lying v low for most of the day and then moving up a bit in the evenings to have a good old kick at my sides - lol!
I've been having loads of weird dreams and a couple of odd hankerings for things - today I really fancied anchovies! When are you supposed to get cravings? I haven't really had any apart for the general need for chocolate most of the time!

Actually - baby is making him/herself known when I have nice things to eat - I had a jam doughnut on Friday and baby didn't stop kicking me until I had another (I'm talking evenly spaced repetetive kicks, getting gradually harder!) - bizarre!

Anyway, sorry it's a long one, too many things to chat about and not enough to get on MN as often as I'd like.

runtus · 24/01/2006 08:47

I swear the other day the baby kicked me rythmically every 30 seconds or so all afternoon, it was almost as if he was in there just swinging his leg backwards and forwards going "bothered???"

Great, he's got attitude already!

helsi · 24/01/2006 11:33

runtus my baby does that rythmic kicking. midwife says it could be hiccups!

runtus · 24/01/2006 11:51

Really - how funny!

PreggieMum · 24/01/2006 15:48

Haven't posted on here for ages! Just had my scan, all is well with baby and I'm having a boy!!

I'm all booked to have csection on 16th May, assuming he doesn't decide to make an early appearance.

Hope all is well with everyone. I don't really feel very pregnant yet, but am just starting to get some very slight symptoms of SPD that I had late last pregnancy and also feeling a little tired.

Will make an effort to post more frequently. (Unfortunately I don't get on mumsnet that often
now that DD2 is more mobile.)

louismummy · 24/01/2006 16:00

just had a facial that my friend got for me for my birthday. After it finished she said get dressed when your ready.. i could have stayed all afternoon. It was bliss.
My excema seems to be going.. has flared up from time to time this pregnancy ( none last time ) when dead tired or run down. House is nearly finished.... getting to the decoration stage, but so difficult deciding colours. Can't wait to get my kitchen back... fed up washing up in the bath!!!

thebecster · 25/01/2006 12:39

Grumpy today after only 3 hours sleep AGAIN (was being sick between 2:30am and 6:30am, and last night was sick between 3am and 7am - just non-stop retching without anything in my stomach - HORRID! Lying on the bathroom floor half the night crying... My eczema is bad too - mostly on my face, which is doubly annoying. Am definitely NOT blooming! I'm sorry for all with SPD that must be really hard to live with. I don't have any symptoms of that, but my hip joints have gone a bit weird - I sometimes get arthritis in my hips, but this is different, it's like the hip joint isn't quite fitting into the socket - really painful and my hip kind of gives way underneath me - anyone else had this? I'm really busy at work - this is the last week in our financial year and I work mostly on commission, so can't slack off. Which is a shame as I desparately want to put my head on my desk and zzzzzz..... Or just call in sick! Oh, I wish... Grump, grump, grump - sorry to whinge! But it's made me feel better to let off steam. Will go and get myself a jacket potato for lunch, that might cheer me up!

littlemisspiggy · 25/01/2006 15:22

Sorry you feel so bad Becster. Trying to keep going at work is tough. I'm surprised you are still being sick or is it a bug? Remind me how many weeks you are? Can you flop as soon as you get home?

thebecster · 25/01/2006 16:52

Hello LMP- thanks for the sympathy, I really appreciate it! Unfortunately my sickness didn't ease off at 14 wks, I'm one of the unlucky ones on the sickness front (I'm 22 + 3 wks now). I've had a few good days where I started to think I was getting better, but so far I've only slept through the whole night 3 times since I was 6 wks pg. Other than that I've been up every night at 3 or 4am to be sick... Acupunture seemed to help at first, but not so much recently. I'm not so bad during the day as I can keep eating which keeps the nausea at bay, but night times are just horrid.

I am definitely going to crash when I get home tonight - I've cancelled my yoga class and am going to crawl straight into bed! Thanks again for being kind. Everyone at work is fed up with hearing my 'sickness updates' I'm such a whinger!

squidgeymiller · 25/01/2006 19:36

Hi Becster, sorry you're not feeling well. Have you tried neal's yard for herbal-type teas that might ease it (or at least help you sleep through it)? They're usually quite good at suggesting remedies if you describe symptoms for them. I don't know what's allowed / good for that sort of sickness.
Hope it begins to get better as you hit the "magic" 24 week mark. I know it's made a huge difference for me (I wasn't feeing sick, but was generally tired all the time, and it does seem to be getting better as the pg progresses)

runtus · 26/01/2006 08:26

Sorry to hear you are feeling rubbish becster - would it help to set your alarm at intervals during the night so you can eat something? I know you would still be waking up but maybe you could pre-empt the sickenss by eating at regular intervals............

On a totally different note, our cot arrived yesterday, very exciting! Got it on Ebay from one of the nursery shops...........Toys R Us Isabella cot and i got it for £110 inc delivery instead of £185. Very pleased with myself!
