I thought I'd start a due May 2006 club even though its very early in the month for it.

My stats are

ME: 31
DH: 30
DD: 3 next week!
Next DB due: May 1st (4 weeks pregnant today!)

Just been to the docs to get it all confirmed and seeing the midwife tomorrow. Look forward to more of you joining me as the month progresses!

Actually, I expect to have an elective section after an emergency one with DD so db will probably be born at the end of April. But like the idea of a May thread nonetheless!

hockeymum · 10/01/2006 15:52

Welcome fairymum - I'll add you into the next update and update you too Mandymoo.

Enid - I misread your post and thought "why on earth am I responsible for making you feel fat?" typical pregnant brain!!!

TheIncubator · 10/01/2006 18:24

Thanks for the update Hockeymum. Didn't realise there were so many of us! By the way, mine's a boy!

helsi · 10/01/2006 18:25

hello all, sorry but my date has changed to 9th May now although actual birth date may change as possibly going to have an elective c-section as SPD too bad!

TheIncubator · 10/01/2006 18:35

On another note, I spoke to the NCT people in our area yesterday (Newbury) to sort out getting booked onto one of their courses. They only have 8 couples per course so spaces are very limited. I'm on the reserve list for both April babies (1st reserve) and May babies (3rd reserve!) as they are currently fully booked. I have managed to get booked onto the June babies course but that will probably be cutting it a bit too close to my due date!

So if any of you want to go for an NCT course I suggest that you start calling them soon! Here's their website: www.nctpregnancyandbabycare.com. Just click on 'Find out about Antenatal and Postnatal classes' and follow the links to find a course in your area. Good luck!

zzoey · 10/01/2006 19:08

Hi all
thanks Hockeymum for the update
sympathy to all for all the problems. blood transufusions, food poisoning, spd. pregancy can be such hard work, not just blooming - blooming awful sometimes . but worth it in the end! sorry to hear re others spd. mine is still mild, glad to say, but have asked my midwife to refer me to the physio for some help to keep it that way. she's also going to send me for acupuncture which it seems can help too.
Regarding NCT - we went in first pregnancy and it was so great to meet other local parents. A lot of us are still in touch, those that haven't moved away, and still meet up with the kids. I also went to a NCT postnatal group and we still meet nearly every week over 4 years on! So if you miss the antenatal classes it's still worth asking about postnatal support. And an NCT breast feeding counsellor saved my breast feeding too. they have lots of useful services
oh my baby is so active, she keeps bouncing up and down
zz

Enid · 10/01/2006 19:13

lol hockey mum

must remember to punctuate

I am getting big and fat now (24 weeks) and my assistant pointed out that I was looking 'matronly'. cheers.

I have been so un obsessed with this pg that I actually forgot my midwives appt today

Am hoping everything stays normal so I can finally have a homebirth. Am thinking of buying a pool (going halves with a friend) but dh not keen. Baby had a quiet couple of weeks but now kicking away. I have a feeling its another girl, we will see.

Have bad ppp (like spd but at the back, like sciatica) and heartburn but really can't be bothered to moan. Gaviscon is good for the heartburn and nothing helps the ppp so I'll just have to get on with it.

Mandymoo · 10/01/2006 19:28

hi all - hope you are all ok (as ok as we can be iyswim!)

All well here except i've now convinced myself that i have gestational diabetes as i've eaten sooooo much chocolate lately!

Seeing mw tomorrow as i had blook in my urine last week. Having to take more time off work (think work are gradually getting more and more pi**ed off with me but mw can only see me on Wed and thurs which are the two days that i work!!)

Anyway, finishing work end of March so not too long to go now!

Still trying to think of a boy's name but currently like Harry, Jamie and Alfie.

Anyway, take care all XX

Mandymoo · 10/01/2006 19:29

er........ thats BLOOD and not BLOOK in my urine!!!

louismummy · 10/01/2006 19:58

yeah i finish work at the end of march too MM can't wait. Patient asked me if i was 7 or 8 months pregnant..... thats how fat i look... must go and have another scone with clotted cream mmmm...

cori · 10/01/2006 20:08

Hello everyone,
I havent been around for a while cause I am still quite paranoid about this pregnancy, but slowly starting to feel better about it. I am almost 24 weeks, I have an appointment with the consultant tomorrow. I have been a little worried about some weird tummy pains I have been experienceing (not contractions or anything, just pains) and I keep thinking that this baby isnt moving as much as it should. I have a Doppler though and the heart is beating away nicely at 150bpm.

I have also just enrolled in an active birth/yoga class. Am hoping for VBAC, so will need all the help I can get. Anyone else been to one of these.?

squidgeymiller · 11/01/2006 08:17

Hi all, haven't been on for a while with visiting family over Xmas and working NY. So happy for all of you who've had 2nd scans and glad all is well.
Not sure if I'm big or not yet, I'm a bit smaller than my friend who's due in 4 wks, but much much smaller than my other friend who's due 25/04/06. My mw said my bump is just the right size for the length of my pg though, so not too worried.
Have quite a few stretch marks now. Was hoping I'd get away with it as my mum and aunt haven't had any stretch marks after 6 pg between them, thought genetics might help me, but never mind!! Am trying every cream / lotion but my skin doesn't seem dry or stretched so not sure what else I can do.
Had my 24 wk appt with mw Monday and heard the heartbeat, which was reassuring (don't get a 2nd scan and couldn't find the heartbeat on my baby heart monitor thing) - I've been a bit worried, even though baby is now moving quite a lot and there's no mistaking the kicks!

My mum told me about a product called the belly bra (available at www.bloomingluxuries.co.uk) which is like a bra /vest which has support for your full belly as well as the norm bra support. Looks fab and my friend swears by it - says it's the best thing since sliced bread, and she's on her 5th pg. Apparently can help with backache and stuff. Will give it a try when mum finally gets round to sending it to me!!

Sorry long update and not been on for a while, has been a hectic and not too enjoyable xmas!

runtus · 11/01/2006 08:49

Just wanted to tell you all I had my first proper hard kick last night in bed - my hand actually went up in the air!

All a bit Alienish but good at the same time!

nez · 11/01/2006 11:15

Hello all,
Runtus - the alien within was kicking last night too and hubby def. felt it too. We both went "Ah! Oh my GOD..AH!" Lush feeling, isn't it. Glad to hear that other babies have 'quiet times'. I was getting paranoid until finally sat down last night and flumper said hello.
Enid - have you had a homebirth or baby before? I am hoping all stays OK with me as I'd much rather stay at home, even thoughit's my first and some folk seem to think I am mental. Anyone else hoping to stay at home?
I am trying to find reasonably priced ante natal yoga classes. Was shocked as they cost more than twice normal yoga classes. Have good library book -it's not the same though. Good luck with them!
Squidgey:I was given a belly bra and would recommend it. It supports under bump and felt really great when I put it on. Meant to be for 3rd trimester and not sure I should be wearing it all the time yet as I'm quite 'neat', so far. It did help when I had achey weirdy belly pains though - a growth spurt?!
Is this posting too long? Sorry if it is. Are there rules about long ramblings on Mumsnet?!
Hope all of you are well and smiling, Ner x

thebecster · 11/01/2006 11:23

Reading everyone's posts I've now been inspired to book in for antenatal yoga, antenatal classes, a parenting/relationship seminar AND a breastfeeding workshop. Perhaps a little obsessive... Can you tell I'm a first time mum?? Still at least I'm all booked up now.

Went for acupunture last night (for morning sickness). Last time I went the baby was too small for me to feel any movements, but this time I could feel everything and the baby was going completely mental! Over the 15 minutes I counted 25 big kicks/punches and could feel it wriggling the whole time. Baby was totally overexcited . The therapist said that the change in my energy flow sometimes gives the baby an energy boost. Weird...

Enid · 11/01/2006 11:26

I have two other children, both born in hospital. Both quick although I had complications with dd1. Dd2 was born in two hours from start to finish, the 'ready to push' to her being born took 10 minutes. We are about 20 mins from hospital anyway so a homebirth might be quite a good idea.

HandbagAddiction · 11/01/2006 12:53

Hello everyone! I also haven;t been around too much and have had a manic first week or so back at work after the Christmas Break. Hecticness made bearable by the thought that I only have 15.5 work weeks left to go before starting maternity leave on May 1st!

Thanks for Hockeymum for posting the updated list. Can't believe there are so many of us - it should make for a lively Birth Announcements and action post-natal group thread once we've all delivered!!

Talking of Gestational Diabetes - I had a test when I was pregnant with dd which turned out to be nothing - or more like the fact that I'd stuffed my face with two kitkats prior to the blood test because I was starving and had had no lunch! Given that I've really grown a bump over the holidays, I'm now concerned that I do actually have it this time around....although to be fair, it could be something to do with over-indulgence and having developed a very sweet tooth this time around. (Makes mental note to self to buy Ryvitas for snacking....) Anyway, I reckon that at 20.5 weeks I'm now the same size as I was at 25 weeks last time around - scary!!

I have my next scan on Monday - dh is really against the idea of finding out the sex - he prefers the magic of not knowing.....

Anyway - enough of my rambling. Great to catch up with everyones news....

hockeymum · 11/01/2006 15:19

Ooh how lovely to see everyone full of chat this morning, its nice to see a nice full antenatal club room (albeit virtual).

Went to see my consultant today, finally had a referral about my iron levels and she said "you really shouldnt be managing to still get around with levels like yours and sent me straight up to the delivery suite for an iron infusion (iron in a drip of saline). Didnt hurt too much although hand really hurts now where the canula went in (shucks no washing up for me today!!) and I got to lie down on a bed for 2 1/2 hours while it went in. I read magazines and listened to my ipod, it was the most relaxed I've been in weeks! I've got to go back in every other day for 10 days now for more drips but should start to feel better by then - Hoorah!

Also, they've told me I'm not allowed to work anymore, so have to take 5 weeks off work sick until I start my maternity leave. I'm pleased really because I am so exhausted but disappointed not to get any kind of goodbye time or send off like I had expected. Heigh Ho I expect I wont mind a jot when I'm sat on the sofa with my feet up gorging myself on chocolate in the evenings!

Glad to hear everyones news, sorry those of you who have SPD and stuff that must be really debilitating. Hope we all feel tons better soon (it is meant to be our best middle trimester after all (yeah right!)

seems to have livened up round here!
welcome back Cori, glad you are feeling more confident.
Hockeymum, dont know how you manage to keep going with what you're putting up with... you sound very brave
Nez - I don't think you're mental to have a home birth for your first. Go for it if it's what you prefer. There is a higher risk of transfer to hospital first time, though. That's what happened to me first time - transferred in in 2nd stage after v long back labour and 1.5 hours pushing at home, they sent me in. Baby was fine and I got a normal birth though didn't like the hospital bit at all. I'm sure if I'd been in hospital all along I would have had an epidural which would have slowed things down, and a drip to speed things up and probably forceps or ventouse, if not a c/s. So no regrets that I was at home for 15 of the 16 hours! Had dd2 at home which all went fine. Not quick like you Enid though! Wd like to have this one at home too if all stays well. Good luck with it Nez. Do let us know about your birth pool, Enid. I was thinking of one this time round.
And have started some yoga classes again. have found them v helpful before.

Bouj · 12/01/2006 05:46

Hey thanks for the update HM, there are so many of us! My due date hovers around that date so will leave it for the 5th. Am slightly jealous of all of you who know what you are having - we decided to not find out, but I am nosy and impatient! Hope all are feeling ok this week - not much left of the 2nd trimester now..

helsi · 12/01/2006 06:57

I am going back to dr this am as yesterday when I turned over in bed I actually heard and felt soething crack and now its awful to move very much at all. SPD is also PPP too so lying, walking, sitting, standing etc are all painful. Can't believe I have 16 weesk left to go! that's a whole 4 months! flippin 'eck!
maybe he will sign me off work for a bit as driving is painful so even getting there atm is a nuisance.
