hockeymum · 22/08/2005 12:35

I thought I'd start a due May 2006 club even though its very early in the month for it.

My stats are

ME: 31
DH: 30
DD: 3 next week!
Next DB due: May 1st (4 weeks pregnant today!)

Just been to the docs to get it all confirmed and seeing the midwife tomorrow. Look forward to more of you joining me as the month progresses!

Actually, I expect to have an elective section after an emergency one with DD so db will probably be born at the end of April. But like the idea of a May thread nonetheless!

4 and 7 late here

Enideepmidwinter · 16/12/2005 14:10

had my FIRST 'aren't you fat' comment today

from the cheeseman on the market cheeky bugger

He actually said 'well you are big arent you are you sure there is only one in there?'

I said 'wow you are the first person to ever actually say that to me although I hear people say it a lot'

lovecloud · 16/12/2005 17:46

Why do you think you two are "big", did you get big fast with your previous pregnancies?

Just interested as it is my second so I expected to get big fast too.

Where you slim before you fell pregnant this time?

If not I wonder if that is why you feel "big".

My friend is trying for a baby at the moment and she is overweight and is worried about blowing right up. I have tried to tell her to not worry and women just except they get fatter - its all for a good cause and you can lose it after anyway.

I know not all slim people are small in pregnancy one of my other friends who is normally stick skinny really piles it on (i think it suits her) she actually tries to keep the weight but her metabolism is so fast it always goes.

tortoiseshell · 16/12/2005 18:04

I just feel like I've got a huge bump - with previous two pregnancies I didn't feel like I had a bump for ages. Having said that, people still aren't noticing I'm pregnant (am nearly 22 weeks), so is probably just how I feel. Wouldn't describe myself as 'slim' but not huge either - average? Size 14-16 before pregnancy.

Enideepmidwinter · 17/12/2005 09:17

10/12 pre pg

in fact my bump is not huge at all according to midwife

he was just an arse

squidgeymiller · 17/12/2005 13:03

I sanyone else feeling really emotional? I hadn't really noticed any side effects of the pg (apart from occasional spots) but today every little thing is making me well up - have already pre-warned dh, just in case! I hope this doesn't continue too long, Xmas will be a nightmare with all the "happy family" style tv and films etc around!

Glad to see everyone's feeling better and progressing nicely.

I'm feeling like my bump's quite big at the moment, but I'm about in line with one of the other girls at work who's due 5 days before me. She's a bit bigger than me but 2nd pg so to be expected. I need to get in the gym and do some cycling / walking though - by bum and thighs ARE getting huge!

I won't be around for a while as visiting family for xmas from wed.
Hope everyone has a fab festive season and make sure you take full advantage of the fact that you're eating for 2 - there's so many yummy things to eat this time of year!!

Mandymoo · 18/12/2005 16:17

Hi all - 20 weeks today and bump is enormous! Have been in maternity clothes for weeks now

Got 20 week scan on 29th Dec which we are looking forward to - and all risks associated with my amnio have now past thankfully so am looking forward to a nice quiet Christmas with dh and dd and bump!

Am feeling ok apart from tired, frequent nose bleeds and permanently being on the toilet! Can't believe i'm half way there already - must try and enjoy the next 20 weeks (note to self: chill out lady )

Anyway, hope all you ladies are keeping well and hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and may the New Year bring you everything you want (and lets look forward to May!!)

Love M XX

thehockeyandtheivy · 18/12/2005 17:17

Enid - I'm due on 30th April too, but will be delivered on 21st or 24th April by c-section. Still carrying on this thread as I've stuck here half the pregnancy so far and you lot aren't bad company really!!

21 +3 today and got my scan on Wednesday, can't wait to see the little guy/gal in there. Kicks are getting really noticeable and frequent now even though I'm not showing at all (but huge before pregnancy so thats why) I've actually lost a couple of stone this pregnancy so all my clothes still fit but just have a big tummy where baby is and smaller everywhere else. Wish I did have a noticeable bump, I just have to keep telling people that I am actually pregnant at work as they all keep thinking I'm a few weeks not 5 months! Still if its like last time with dd I'll pop out soon and it will be obvious and hoping I still end the pregnancy lighter than before conception. Now, just got to work out how to stop it all piling on again when I'm sat on the sofa feeding db all hours! Heigh Ho never happy are we?

Going to try and find out sex at scan on Wednesday. Hope no-one minds if I put it on here, all my family are really opinionated about finding out the sex so we wont even be telling them that we know what it is, I know I'll burst with that knowledge if I don't tell someone so lovely anonymous mumsnet will have to be my confindante. Hope thats ok.

Mandymoo · 18/12/2005 18:35

thehockeyandtheivy - we dont mind!

I acutally found out last week but wasnt sure whether to post on here or not. Got it from amnio result so 100% know!!

thehockeyandtheivy · 19/12/2005 09:40

Mandymoo - what are you having? Have you settled on a name from your name thread yet?

thebecster · 19/12/2005 16:04

I've been in maternity clothes since 13 weeks !! I'm normally pretty slim (size 8 - 10) and normally have a concave tummy, which I generally show off in things that are tight around the waist. So none of my clothes would do up from very early on. I now look VERY pregnant. God knows what size I'll be at 40 weeks . But on the upside I had acupuncture on Thursday and I haven't been sick since (I'm 17 weeks)! It's like a whole new world after 13 weeks of continous barfing (ie. from first day of missed period until Thursday)! I've even cleaned my teeth and still not been sick! Oh the luxury... I still daren't have a cup of tea though, that might be pushing it too far...

But I'm starting to feel less tired too (probably partly because I've stopped throwing up all night), and finally dragged myself to the gym for antenatal pilates & swimming yesterday. Am getting my hair cut tonight too - so sick of looking like a pregnant blimp! And people KEEP giving me advice on how to avoid stretchmarks which is kind of annoying because I've been covered in stretchmarks since I was 15 (I was very ill with pneumonia & went down to 5stone - I'm 5'7" - then got stretchmarks when I regained the weight.) So I feel really embarrassed whenever anyone mentions it, 'cos I don't actually have any space on my wobbly bits that isn't already covered in faded stretchmarks, and a few more really isn't going to make a blind bit of difference.

zzoey · 19/12/2005 20:44

Hi All
stretch-mark sympathy Becster
In my first pregnancy I had the happy illusion that I didnt have any stretch marks at all.... until DH said "so what are those marks down there then?".... All the stretch marks were Under my bump so I couldnt see them !
Since I already have plenty now, I dont care this time!
the heartburn is more of a pain. cant eat curry or oranges any more.
Am also looking forward to 20 week scan in new year. I think we will ask the sex this time as DD1 is really keen to know - "get the doctors to look with their special camera, mummy!". And although I've enjoyed my previous 2 surprises, dont mind either way much this time.
happy Xmas to all
zz

Bouj · 19/12/2005 21:26

Yep - obstetrician said to me on Thurs "wow, you're stretchmarks are coming along nicely, aren't they"? Grr, had none with ds until 41st week, when I got one long one. Now I look like a cat has attacked me.

supersonic · 20/12/2005 14:44

Hi - hope everyone is starting to feel slightly better. Had my 20 wks scan yesterday and although all is well they ahve noticed there are '2 bright echogenic areas in the liver' of course I absolutely panicked but did very well not to show this to DP or DD or anyone however am anxious about it (DD was with us but the sonographer was great as everythign else was fine my DD didnt even realise there was anything wrong)the thing is had a nical scan at 13 wks and it wasnt picked up then - why? I have to go back to see my consultatn on thursday for a detailed scan to see hat it is if anything - so sorry to come on here ranting about my problems but just wanted to 'get it all out'

lovecloud · 20/12/2005 20:18

Supersonic - fingers crossed for you all is well. two of my friends had certain things picked up on their scans and had to be referred to specialists and I am glad to say their babies were fine xxx

On the stretchmark front I have to say I am dreading them. I am normally slim 8/1O and although I was blessed with a fast metabolism from breast feeding first time I have never actually had boobs - just nipples . Even when pregnant they do not grow - only when breastfeeding.

So my only good feature was my flat tummy, it went back after dd with no signs of stretch marks but I have heard a few stories about people only getting then the second time around.

If I had boobs then I would not care - I know it sounds vain so i would only complain on here .

I know some people are just prone to stretchmarks no matter what lotions and potions they use but do they just come about because of putting weight on too fast in pregnancy?

littlemisspiggy · 21/12/2005 11:12

Hi All! Haven't posted for a while. Sickness came back for a while even though I thought it had stopped, but it's better again now. Have felt quite stressed recently re work/DH relationship/DS having chickenpox and tiredness so looking forward to a few days off at Christmas.
I'm 18 weeks and IMO look 28! In the last couple of days I have felt the faint but unmistakeable flutters of the baby moving which is lovely.
For those of you complaining about no boobs be thankful. I have gone from a respectable 34D to an obscene 38E and still growing I reckon. Plus they are covered in the most grotesque crop of spots!
If I don't get back on here over Xmas I wish you all a beautiful one!!

Enideepmidwinter · 21/12/2005 11:13

I suddenly have a massive bump

am 21 and a bit weeks I think although i keep losing track

littlemisspiggy · 21/12/2005 11:14

Bouj - I hope you kicked your obstetrician where it hurts -cheeky sod!!!

Enideepmidwinter · 21/12/2005 11:20

lovecloud I think they are genetic

or you can get them from losing a lot of weight very quickly

I dont have any worth speaking of (touch wood) and nor did my mum (4 kids)

thehockeyandtheivy · 21/12/2005 12:51

Well, I had my scan today. It went very well and was much clearer than with my dd 4 years ago. Everything seems good, the baby was moving a lot and looked so wonderful and its a BOY!! Was absolutely surprised but the radiographer showed me and there is no mistake he already has a HUGE package! so its 100 % certain.

I really thought I would be disappointed with a boy as I was sure he was a girl and I adore little girls but I'm not at all sad. Having seen the lovely gorgeous baby how can I be disappointed, he's wonderful. I will have to pluck up some courage to look at boys clothes as I love girls clothes and we need a name as we only were set on a girls one, but I'm really pleased and particularly pleased for DH too. I'm so glad I found out now so my girl thoughts (lottie) didnt have another 17 weeks or so to gather speed. I can now think of my boy and how lovely it will be to meet him.

Kittenpaws · 21/12/2005 13:24

Hi, hope everyone is well and looking forward to Christmas. Given I have an ever growing bump at least there is a good excuse to eat lots!
We had a scan today as well, all went well and we got some good pictures - we are also having a boy, DH is delighted as we already have a DD and I think he was going to feel outnumbered if it was another girl. He was less pleased when I mentioned that it meant more shopping as nearly all of DDs clothes are very girly - I'm looking forward to buying blue things as DD is very attached to anything pink at the moment.

thehockeyandtheivy · 21/12/2005 13:33

Kittenpaws - the shopping issue was my DH's only gripe as well. I'm going to love the shopping too as we didn't know what dd was and she lived in white for 3 months, this one will be blue as the first outfit.

Enideepmidwinter · 21/12/2005 13:38

congrats you two on healthy happy scans!

TheIncubator · 21/12/2005 16:40

Hi. Hope you are all well have got past the worst of the sickness and feeling a bit more like you're 'blooming'.

Had another scan last week and everything seems to be fine. There was certainly a lot of wriggling around going on and a distinct lack of co-operation with regards to finding out the sex as the umbilical cord was between the legs. Hopefully we'll find out at the anomaly scan in Jan. We've also had the results from the blood test for spinabifida which has come back as being low risk so that's a huge relief!

We're going to Spain for new year for a short break and I'm really looking forward to relaxing and putting my feet up over the Christmas holidays.

Have a great Christmas and New Year. Here's to a very exciting 2006!!

TheIncubator · 21/12/2005 16:44

By the way, does anyone know if cats have some weird sort ESP? My cat has been acting really strangely lately and my dh reckons she knows I'm pregnant!!! (I have to say I'm very dubious!)
