I thought I'd start a due May 2006 club even though its very early in the month for it.

My stats are

ME: 31
DH: 30
DD: 3 next week!
Next DB due: May 1st (4 weeks pregnant today!)

Just been to the docs to get it all confirmed and seeing the midwife tomorrow. Look forward to more of you joining me as the month progresses!

Actually, I expect to have an elective section after an emergency one with DD so db will probably be born at the end of April. But like the idea of a May thread nonetheless!

has anyone got leaky boobs yet????

Bouj · 30/11/2005 09:15

Hi all, just checking in. Haven't had a chance to read all of the latest on this thread (will do so at work tomorrow!) but hope all are well. Had a scare over the weekend, woke up with cramping. In my dazed half asleep state I assumed I was getting my period, till I remembered I was 18 weeks pregnant! After monitoring it all morning, I panicked and went to the hospital. Got hooked up and monitored for ages, to check if it was labour, but it wasn't. Got yet another scan (got to be my 7th) and baby looks very well. So no idea what it was, though it has persisted until today. Was a little teary walking through the maternity ward to get monitored. So majorly relieved that all is ok. No proper movements yet, no leaky boobs (still incredibly tender tho) but I do have an enormous bump... Anyway, will check up on you all again tomorrow!

hockeymum · 30/11/2005 09:27

Bouj, Sorry you had such a horrible scare. I had this the other day at about 18 weeks too but thankfully it subsided before yours did and I didn't need to get it checked out. I think what had happened was that I had laid on my front during the night and just hurt myself a bit doing that, but it's a horrible feeling isn't it?

Boobs not quite leaking yet, but just a tiny bit of sticky yuck and really itchy nipples too so leaking not far off unfortunately. Looked in the mirror at my boobs and couldn't believe they've changed so much - why oh why do the areola and nipples have to get so big, dark and horrible. It was a nasty reminder that the boobs aren't really mine anymore and will belong to the baby till I stop feeding it. Heigh Ho, one of those things I guess. one of the things that goes along with people no longer flirting with you at work when they find out your pregnant (boy do I miss that too)!

Bouj - sorry to hear about your scare and glad that you have been able to get a scan and everything appears to be OK!

On the leaky boobs side - well I don't even have sore boobs so not much chance of any leakage. Am now 14+4 and feeling very deflated about everything. Really concerned that everything is not well. Boobs not sore and don't appear to be growing or changing, sickness abated as I would expect by now but for the last few days I've not really felt pregnant at all and I'm now worrying myself sick about it. I have put on some weight and some of my trousers feel a both tighter than normal but I can still get in them all Ok and can't really feel a bump growing!

I suppose I should again know better as this is no 2. but I can't remember feeling this unsure last time around....

Is anyone else around the 14 week mark feeling like this at all?

runtus · 30/11/2005 11:06

Morning all, sorry to hear you are feeling so low Handbag..I went through this a couple of weeks ago and it leaves you feeling all a bit vulnerable doesn't it? Chances are tyou are progressing fine and are actually just having a little breather from all the horrible bits but I know it's hard to remember that when feeling pregnant all the time has become the norm over the last couple of months.

You could always pop into your local Day Assessment centre and tell them you are worried and ask them to monitor you for a while, just to reassure you. I am 100% certian you aren't the 1st person to have ever asked them and you won't be the last.

Hope you feel better soon

HandbagAddiction · 30/11/2005 13:27

Maybe I'll give my community mid-wife a call this afternoon and see what she says - I think she has a clinic today which although I can't get too...would mean that she;s more than likely going to have some time to talk to me....even if she does just call me neurotic!!

mummyhill · 30/11/2005 14:34

Sorry just Hijacking to say Hi Sniff hope you are feeling OK. I miss you. DS Settled eventually last night and has been an angel today I have got loads done.DD seems to be comming down with something though and DH is being an AR*E will phine you later for a chat.

HandbagAddiction · 30/11/2005 14:55

Well - I've spoken to the midwives at the hospital who were less that helpful and really rather negative. Managed to speak to my community midwife who was so lovely and would have offered to come my house this evening if she didn't have to go to a meeting! Bless her. Anyway - since I can't make her clinic today (I'm in London and she isn't) I have managed to get an appointment at the GP's emergency clinic tonight to see if they can listen for a heartbeat for me. Feel a bit better now but also a bit odd as I'm not sure I would class myself as an emergency...if you know what I mean...

coribells · 30/11/2005 15:06

Hello everyone. Just back from my weekly scan. Baby is growing well. Measuring 18 wks+2 days.
I asked about the sex today, they told me it is probably a boy. am not going to tell any friends or family, because I dont want all the 'are you disapointed questions'

Handbagaddiction, When I was 14 weeks I got completly paranoid that I had lost the baby, spent a morning crying because I was certain. It all turned out to be fine, I would give your MW a call if you are really concerned, she might be able to hear the heartbeat with a dopler, by now.

MillGuff · 30/11/2005 15:25

Hello all - am new to the thread - it's reassuring to read all your posts.

Am about 18 weeks and feeling fine, apart from the vomiting in the morning... I really thought it had stopped. Bah!

Apart from that, all well.

Although I would actually like to start looking pregnant now, thanks, instead of just like a champ pie-eater...

Bouj · 01/12/2005 05:11

Handbag - same thing happened here. Horrible isn't it? You spend weeks feeling bloody awful, and when you start to feel better, you panic thinking something is wrong. I do remember reading something about it being a normal stage, end of 1st trimester, beginning of second when the hormones aren't going so haywire. But, as I always say, can't hurt to check it out. Peace of mind is important during pregnancy.

HandbagAddiction · 01/12/2005 10:06

Well the good news is that everything is absolutely fine! I managed to get a late emergency appointment with my GP who was very sympathetic and understanding of the turmoil I was going through and even said that being stressed out can be just as harmful, so they would prefer for me to go in and get checked whenever I have any concerns or worries! Anyway - he got the sonic aid thing out and within 30 seconds hd tracked down a healthy heartbeat! He also had a ggood prod around and was happy with my size so far.

So all in all some great news and I feel 100 times better today than I did yesterday!

Thanks to everyone for their words of reassurance though...

Oh and welcome also to Millguff!

TheIncubator · 02/12/2005 13:16

Hi everyone.

Hope you don't mind me joining this thread. I'm new to MN. A bit about me:

Me: 36
DH: 39
MC's: 6 (over seveal years)
Due date 28/05/06 (14+6)

Everything seems to be going well at the mo. So relieved to have got past the 12 weeks stage. As I've had quite a few m/c's I'm looked after by the early pregnancy unit at Oxford John Radcliffe Hospital who have been great and I've been lucky enough to have been having weekly scans from 7.5 wks to 11.5 wks. We've had a great result for the nuchal fold test (risk was 1:31,000 for Downs Syndrome and 1:50,000 for Edwards syndrome!!) which was a huge relief as one of the m/c's was positive for downs. We've got another scan in a week and a half for other abnormalities as I'm also epileptic and my anti epileptic pills can cause congenital defects like spinabifida and heart problems etc. Can't wait as I would really like to see it moving around again and find out if it's a boy or a girl if poss.

Hope everyone is well

JingleShells · 02/12/2005 13:51

Hi everyone.

Well I finally got my 1st scan today, have my next one in only 2 weeks, as I'm 18+4.
Havent been on here for a while because I wanted to wait until the scan confirmed I was defo due in May, which I now know I am. Scan confirmed the 1st May, like I thought from LMP.
Everything going brill. Got my little bump, look obviously pg.

We also got to find out the sex of baby, wern't going to but there was a point on the scan where it became so very obvious to us all.... it's a GIRL. I'm so so happy.

Had a seperate screen for me to look at whole way through scan, which I have never had before with other 2 kids, in the past the screen has always been faced away from me, then it'd be turned towards me to show me a few secs. So it was a brill experience seeing little one moving around everywhere.

Mandymoo · 02/12/2005 17:41

Jingleshells - a little girl? LOVELY!!!!!

sniff · 02/12/2005 18:45

hi the Incubator welcome to MN your due the same day as me

jingleshells a little girl congratulations (I am a little jealous) cant wait to find out what mine is !!!!!

squidgeymiller · 03/12/2005 12:22

Thanks for all your support - think I was having a bad day - had been up for 3 days with a stomach bug. Have now rcvd AFP results (finally!!) and ame very low risk, so that's good.

Welcome to the new members of the thread!

I don't have leaky boobs yet but v sore and HUGE!!, which DH thinks is great of course but I'm becoming less amused with (am going to have to buy new bras again soon!!

3 stretch marks have appeared in the last few weeks, and even though they're not very big, it's pretty scary as my mum and aunt didn't have any so thought I might be lucky enough to skip that part. Oh well!!

Feeling a bit better that it's not just up here in Scotland that you're left to your own devices and will definitely try to find that book Hockeymum - I have a couple of books but they go by section so there's only general info for a period of weeks (i.e. 17-21 weeks) which just isn't detailed enough for nosey old me - I want to know EXACTLY what's happening at this precise moment (fat chance - I know!!)

Anyway, thanks again for your support - feel much better now!

louismummy · 03/12/2005 17:41

just had a great day shopping on my own!!! made loads of perchases from h&m ect so really reasonable.didn't get any christmas pressies!!!

thehockeyandtheivy · 03/12/2005 20:10

Hello everyone and welcome to the newbies! Glad some of you are finding things a little easier.

I'm 19+1 today and feel grotty again. I was sick at work 3 times in a 4 hour shift last night, including being sick on the floor in the meat aisle as I was on my way back from my break :-( I had been feeling a little better so am disappointed to feel so tired and sick again. I think I was enjoying feeling a little better last week and overdid it all. Have also been having an ongoing battle with the doctors to prescribe me better iron tablets. Had another bloodtest a couple of weeks ago and it shows I'm basically not absorbing the iron fro the tablets as I'm getting more anaemic ( I could have, in fact I did tell them that, because every time I took one of those gross ferrous sulphate/gluconate tablets it made me sick) So they have finally agreed to give me a slow release tablet (more expensive for them to prescribe hence the battle) so I hope that will be better. I have to have blood tests every three weeks now till the baby is born to check the iron, particularly important for my elective section. They also took my blood pressure again (it had been sky high this time last pregnancy and I had to give up work) and it is actually low which is great. Feel much happier that way round, although a bit dizzy when standing up suddenly.

Don't get my scan till 22 weeks here and so excited about it. Really keen to find out the sex (Pink please - if you're hearing me!) My friend has just found out shes having twin boys, already has 3 year old boy, what a handful that will be!

Anyway, enough whining. I only have to look at how lovely my dd is and realise that the pregnancy is only a tiny amount of time and you get something wonderful at the end of it.

oh by the way, its hockeymum if you cant work out my christmas name - Enid, I love yours very clever

tortoiseshell · 04/12/2005 18:15

Hello - just checking in. Got my 20wk scan tomorrow, don't know whether to find out the sex or not. Will be a bit of a nightmare scan actually as have to take ds and dd along, dh can't come, so won't be one of thoses relaxing 'cooing at the baby' scans. Anyway, will be good to see it.

I feel HUGE. Have got quite a big bump now, suddenly grew in the last 2 weeks or so. At least one the bump grows you start looking pregnant instead of just fat!

ENIDeepMidwinter · 04/12/2005 18:52

I have mine on Tuesday and have decided not to find out

don't see the point when there's nothing I can do about it one way or another!

poor you having to lug the kids along tortoiseshell. I don't think dh will be coming to mine either but at least the kids are at nursery/school. Good luck.

My bump has also grown huge over the last couple of weeks and indigestion seems to have kicked in. Nausea almost completely gone though, hooray. A bit more energy now too. Still look like crap though, with a particularly lovely crop of pimples around nose and mouth. Hey ho.

tortoiseshell · 04/12/2005 20:37

Yes I've been getting the dreaded heartburn as well. No sickness now thank goodness! Hope your scan goes well Enid!

Mandymoo · 04/12/2005 20:38

Hi all - 18 weeks today. Should get the rest of my amnio results back this week which means i can then find out the sex of my baby!

Feeling ok, a few niggly twinges here and there and tired from too much xmas shopping but still not too bad!

Hope you guys are all ok X

lovecloud · 04/12/2005 22:42

Hello

18 weeks yesterday anf felt three almighty kicks they made me almost jump off the couch

I am so happy and cant beleive how nervous I am this pregnancy - i thought 2nd time around you are more chilled.

For a couple of weeks I have felt movement and the last week I have definitely been aware of something in there

The kicks really shocked me and were so strong I had dh kneeling next to me with hand on tummy for so long he almost got cramp trying to feel something and... nothing!

I remember this from last time, the baby always stops when someone else puts their hand there - little monkeys!!!

I guess its to early to feel from the outside.

Hope everyone is well.

x

tortoiseshell · 05/12/2005 16:59

Just back from 20 week scan. Had to take ds and dd so wasn't the relaxing experience it could have been, but dd was an angel and sat in her buggy reading the tweenies, and ds was SO interested in the scan - he chatted to the sonographer non-stop for a good 20-25 mins! I couldn't get a word in edgeways! Ds says he saw a willy so it's a boy (he's 4, so no training in ultrasound readings yet), but we didn't want to know the sex so we didn't find out. Anyway, everything was ok, baby spot on for size, saw all its fingers/toes etc, brain/heart chambers. So half way there now, count down to delivery!
