Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
OnlyWantsOne · 27/07/2010 09:34

yes boobs are leaving here, thick clear stuff...; but only if they get a squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze

banisters done last night

just epic amounts of packing to do now

MrsSnaplegs · 27/07/2010 09:39

Morning all - hope everyone is well today

OWO I'm not surpirsed you are tired doing all of that - good luck with your move!

Lavitabellisima Good luck for your scan today - fingers crossed that you get the flavour you are hoping for not sure how soon I had leaky boobs last time but it is normal - try the little round breast pads you can get from ? mothercare - I used them when I went back to work and was still trying to BF last time - stopped the embarrasment of sitting in meetings with a bunch of men and leaky boobs did stop meetings running on too long though

maxpower Glad everything went ok with MW.

Right today I will mostly be - trying to actually do some work lazy day yesterday as you know so must make an effort today
Might see you later - if I get bored with work!

SlightlyTired · 27/07/2010 09:45

Lavita - here is the recipe for yummy pikelets And good luck for scan!!!

GreenGeekGirl · 27/07/2010 09:56

Phew! Just back from a mammoth three day wedding weekend in North Wales. Was absolutely amazing but exhausted now. Working and packing all week and then moving at the weekend.

Yesterday was absolutely crazy for movement. It was such an odd tickly sensation. I think baby is now getting some sleep after all the acrobatics yesterday thank goodness, so hopefully I can get on with some work undistracted by what feels like a family of hyperactive frogs having made their new home in my tummy!

20 weeks scan tomorrow - whoop!

OWO Happy birthday for Friday and good luck with the move! I'm moving on Saturday too and I'm also packing on my own at my mum's while he is working in London all week, so I totally feel your pain. Fortunately most of our stuff is still packed away in boxes from before our travels, so there isn't quite so much to do but it's still pretty daunting.

PJen · 27/07/2010 10:09

Lavita I have my 21 weeks scan this evening too!! I am sooo nervous to find out if boy or girl although I don't prefer any over the other but knowing makes it all so much more real. I am scared of MW saying she can't say. We discussed it with DH last night and said, we will not leave till we know! But more importantly I am nervous if the little babe is fine and healthy...

japhrimel · 27/07/2010 10:42

PJen - if you're getting the scan on the NHS, they don't have to tell you as it's an anomaly scan first and foremost. So if they can't see easily, you don't get to find out. I'm really hoping pip behaves for our scan tomorrow so we can see! Based on his/her behaviour at the 12 week, she/he will be stubborn though.

Lavitabellisima - I think I've had a teeny bit of colostrum from my boobs too. Not enough to stain clothes, just enough to make my nipples feel really oily. It's normal for colostrum to be clear & oily not milky btw.

I felt my first kick last night! Sooooo, soooooo happy. I'd half convinced myself that I was imagining the flutters and that something had gone badly wrong. But the kick was very definite. It's so weird to get prodded from the inside, lol. It was so nice as I'm having a bad flare of my Fibro atm so was miserable with the pain until I got kicked and suddenly didn't care!

I can't wait till we've got the crazy next few weeks over and can sort out the nursery properly. I bought some picture frames for the nursery yesterday - the pile of stuff for in there that's currently in the corner of our bedroom is getting pretty big and we haven't bought any of the big stuff yet!

GreenGeekGirl · 27/07/2010 11:22

I have a huge and rather serious dilemma I need help with here - thanks

WhatWillSantaBring · 27/07/2010 11:47

Hey GGG - I don't like posting on AIBU (because the replies are often less than helpful, to put it politely) but that's a really awful position to be in. There is no easy option in situations like this but I think you have three options- tell the police, tell his company or tell the grandkids. However, I don't think telling the grandkids would help that much, and maybe a more direct approach would be seen as less "underhand". i.e. tell your mum and stepdad and brother in clear, certain terms, that unless he stops driving immediately, you will report him to the police and his company. Acknowledge that it is interfering and that you know the consequences, but it is actually the least worst of the options for him, as better for them all to be in a piss with you than him in prison for manslaughter, or sacked, or bankrupt after being sued for injuring someone (or all three).

At the end of the day, you have to make the decision that you can live with though - so do what you think to be right. If you report him and the issues with your family gets worse, at least you will be able to live with your conscience (sp?).

japhrimel · 27/07/2010 13:13

Ditto to not liking posting on AIBU. I like WWSB's advice above to tell them in uncertain terms that unless he stops driving immediately, you'll report him.

DuelingFanjo · 27/07/2010 13:14

Hi all

no achy or leaking boobs here.

cheryl are you feeling any better?

MrsSnaplegs sorry to hear about the cyclists. idiots!.

Chooster great news about the full Amnio results and on having a boy

maxpower so jealous of everyone who has heard a heartbeat. I am pretty sure they just don't do this in cardiff Hospital as I've never been offered the chance to hear my baby's heartbeat!

GreenGeekGirl good luck with the move and the scan. I have had loads of movement and the baby was very active during the 20 week scan. DH saw a lot more than I did.

Sorry to hear that your step-father is possibly endangering himself and his grandkids, perhaps he really has been told he is ok to drive now?

PJen and Lavitabellisima good luck too for the scans, hope the baby is in the right position for you to see

ReshapeWhileDamp hope your house sale stuff isn't proving too successful. I have no strong feelings about the sex of my baby but DH is convinced it's a boy.

OnlyWantsOne good luck with the packing and move, are you planning anything nice for your birthday?

japhrimel yay for the baby movements, isn't it exciting. I haven't started to think about a nursery yet. We don't really have the space and it might mean a room change for us so I might get stuck into doing one when the baby is older.

sorry to hear that your step-father is possibly endangering himself and his grandkids, perhaps he really has been told he is ok to drive now?

Waves to everyone else... hope all is going well?

It seems that everyone in work is pregnant! Just saw a woman who also had trouble conceiving her first child and shs'e 16 weeks pregnant with her second which is great news. Also been told about a couple of other people so looks like there is a baby boom here. All due Nov/Dec/Jan.

Two people have told me today that they didn't realise I was 40, one was kind enough to say she thought I was 32! ha ha. Possibly she needs glasses.

I have no appointments now until 24 weeks so nothing to report until then really. I've asked my boss if I can take holiday for 2 weeks up to 6th Dec then start my maternity leave and she was a bit sniffy as originally I provisionally said I would start maternity leave on 26th Nov. Still, it's my holiday and I am entitled to it so she can't really turn me down. It also means I can save my maternity leave for closer to when the baby is due!

WhatWillSantaBring · 27/07/2010 13:25

And, DF they'd have to pay you for your holiday if you didn't take it, so it doesn't really make much difference anyway.

I got broadsided with the "when are you going, when are you coming back" question last week - I hadn't given it that much thought - I reckon three weeks before the birth (though that will all be paid holiday) and then staying off for between 9 months and a year, depending how bored I get much I enjoy being a mum.

Had a total wobbly at work last week, as I was being ridiculous pressurised - spent the whole weekend in floods as I couldn't stop thinking and worrying about work. Its really hard to tell how much of the stress was hormonal and how much I would have had anyway - I have never coped very well with being over-worked, as it gives me insomnia, but I was also then stressing about how much the stress would be harming the bump.

On a brighter note, I'm sure I've felt my first couple of kicks - not like a tickling feeling at all, more like an involuntary muscle twitch, which is exactly like my SIL described.

I've got my 20 wk MW appt this week - even though I'm only going to be 18+5, but I can't get another appt till 21 weeks AND I didn't have a 16wk MW appt, so I don't suppose it really matters.

Also back to feeling as exhausted and queasy as I did at week 10, which is a pain - and still 3.5 hours till I can go home

CheeseandGherkins · 27/07/2010 13:49

Quick hello again from me, name changed, I was J o d i e. Hope that wouldn't show up in a search, not linked my profile back yet either.

I'll have a nice long read later on as we're about to pop out but I wanted to give a wave and hope everyone is doing well.

Lots has happened here but won't go into all the moaning again just yet!! Lol.

I'll try and keep up again now

PJen · 27/07/2010 14:01

japhrimel it is NHS and that is my worry that she says she can't see... then I have to pay, which is not a big deal but worse for me is to wait couple more days till we find out. I am not very patient person. Not at all..

GGG I read your post and don't have any good suggestions but just wanted to let you know that I feel your concerns... very worrying - mid life crisis is what I call it...

emmaxmas · 27/07/2010 14:15

Welcome back cheeseandgherkins!! Lovely to have you on here again.

Goodluck for those with scans today- all very exciting! Still have just under 3 weeks to wait until mine (it's being done at 21 weeks and I am impatient!)

Feeling much better here although was VERY weepy on Friday, but had a good talk with DH about some things that had been bothering me and felt much better.

Still absolutely exhausted- was hoping this would be gone by now- am way more tired in my 2nd trimester than in my first and I thought that was bad enough.

Bit of heartburn has been appearing too but nothing else so pretty happy really. No leaky boobs as yet- doesn't sound like something to look forward to!

GGG I read your post too- what a worrying situation and a horrible position to be in - don't know what to suggest really- maybe follow your gut instinct?

Better get back to work- am VERY unproductive at the moment.

DuelingFanjo · 27/07/2010 14:17

Welcome back CheeseandGerkins Hope things haven't been too bad for you.

WhatWillSantaBring your plans for maternity leave sound like mine. Holiday then maternity leave for about 10 months. I will, if I can, attach a bit of holiday to the end too. DH says he will take a month off when I go back to work!

Sorry to hear you have been feeling unwell.

notso · 27/07/2010 14:29

Hello everyone,

CheeseandGherkins great name, welcome back, been thinking about you, hope all is well.

Had results from Triple test, Low Risk for Downs Syndrome etc, feel relieved, looking forward to scan a week tomorrow.

DuelingFanjo · 27/07/2010 14:46

Great news notso

emma hope the talk with DH helped and that things are ok

frankenfanny · 27/07/2010 17:35

Wow everything has moved on so fast. From worrying if it is really happening, to early tests, to getting over constant nausea to feeling baby move.

I can now tell people with pride Yes I am pregnant, not No, I am just fat. The bump/baby has progressed rapidly from below belly button and just starting to flutter a couple of weeks ago to on or above belly button and definite kicks and other acrobatics.

Like quite a few of you it seems, I have a scan this week. Only the 3rd time I have seen a medical professional which is either worrying or good, depending how you look at it. I want to find out the sex, too, but the NHS have never managed yet for me so I will probably need to go private which we can ill afford.

I have just realised no matter how tired I have to kick start myself into action. We are having to rearrange the whole house to accommodate baby and we also having building work done in the Autumn. I really need maternity clothes now and to make a list of baby things. I need to buy Xmas presents so I don't have to do Xmas shopping heavily pregnant with the rest of my brood in tow. I have an appointment next month with the home birth team, not actually 100% on this but DH wants to hire a doula so have to look into that as well as what else needs supplied for the birth. Phew!

Xfingersx for the results of everyone's scans.

DuelingFanjo · 27/07/2010 18:32

My HR department managed to send a whole email correspondence between me and my manger about my maternity leave to another employee with the same first name today!

Now, I don't really mind if this random namesake knows the ins and outs of my maternity leave but I have heard so many bad things about our HR dept that this hasn't really given me much faith in their ability to deal with it all effectively. DOH!

Wholelottalove · 27/07/2010 20:35

DD and DH have had D&V bug which I've also had mildly. Have not been v sympathetic to DH but seriously, he's had day off work and when I got in with DD he was lolling on sofa wafting his hand over his forehead and saying 'I feel so iiilllll' which just riled me. Especially as I have to just get on with it.

I have had my revenge as he was too ill for pizza so I ordered what I like for once (we usually share) and have just scarfed jalepeno, mushroom, sweetcorn and pepperoni yum yum.

I have been reading a book to DD called 'there is a house inside my mummy'. She loves it and I have to read it every night to her. Tonight, the baby was really going for it when I was reading to DD and I could feel the movements on the outside so I got DD's hand and popped it on my tummy. She definitely felt the kick as she jumped and then did a massive grin and said 'baby!' It was absolutely ace

So, has anyone got any names yet? We have a couple on our list so far but nothing decided.

Wholelottalove · 27/07/2010 20:36

Oh yes meant to add, if one more person asks me if I am sure I'm not having twins I will have to kill them! I am much, much bigger than I was at this point with DD it must be said, with bump all out front and v obvious. Freaking out a teeny amount at how big I am actually going to get this time round...

CherylAnnTweedy · 27/07/2010 21:42

Evening.

C&G - Glad you're back with us .

WLL - I'm getting more and more "not long to go now" type comments from random people. Ha ha if only!

Hope all todays scans went well and all upcoming scans are a success.

Thanks DF, not had any more contractions or twinges thank goodness.

WWSB - that's a much more accurate description if baby movements than 'butterflies'. It's certainly never felt like butterflies to me!

I have a question about poo but far too emarrassed to ask. And don't really want to google it either! Eek!

21 weeks for me tomorrow, yippee!

DuelingFanjo · 27/07/2010 21:55

Wholelottalove I haven't had any 'are you sure it's not twins' comments yet, though I too feel huge. Not had a successful pregnancy before though so not sure what to compare it to.

Is it possible do you think to see movement in your belly as early as 21 weeks? I am sure I did earlier but not sure if I am imagining it.

LittleB · 27/07/2010 22:09

hi everyone, I really feel for those of you who are moving house, must be so much extra work!
I saw consultant today and had internal and external scan. Baby is looking fine and healthy but my cervix is borderline after a LLETZ procedure last year. Its measuring 2.6cm (below 2.5cm and they get worried, normal is 4cm). They are going to check again at my anomoly scan again in two weeks time and if its shorter they will put in a cervical stitch. Its got me worried though as with a cervical stitch you have to be very careful and not do anything strenuous. As a countryside ranger all of my job is pretty physical so I'm not sure how I'll manage, still I would rather have that than a premature baby. But my HR said they can start my mat leave at 29 weeks if I can't do my job and I'm hoping to finish at 36 weeks, take 9mths mat leave, tag on some annual leave and will go back to work mid september when dd has started back at school.
I think I might seek some HR advice on here as I though they could only enforce mat leave from 36 weeks.
Its really worrying me, just keep my fingers tightly crossed for my next scan, hoping to find out what sex the baby is then too.
dd has started singing lullabies to the baby through my belly button and chatting away to it so that it knows her when its born - shes very sweet!

Wholelottalove · 27/07/2010 22:32

DF yes, I reckon it is. I felt this baby really early on, and can feel the kicks at times from the outside already so if I was looking hard I might see a bit of movement. I think it probably depends on where the placenta is, your build, if you are carrying any extra fat, what your stomach muscles are like (non-existant in my case!) etc..

littleB sorry about your situation, sounds worrying. I would make sure you look up your rights. If you can't work because of health and safety reasons, I thought they had to try and find you suitable alternative employment or suspend you on full pay, not make you take mat leave early. Also, I don't think there are any rules as to when mat leave needs to be enforced, other than I think by law you are supposed to have 2 weeks off after the birth.
