Cads - thought about travel cots, but they are too low, would mean too much back bending. Fine when they are tiny and don't weigh much, but would do me in when they are hulking great 9 month olds!

With normal cots I can raise base to save my spine.

Nova - nice pic.

Took me 5 years to get figure back to 9 stone with DS - although I was not trying very hard. Will be happy to get back to that sort of size in the first year if poss. Might have to go back to the dreaded weightwatchers..................

CADS · 28/08/2005 17:24

Goldie - You right about the height. Didn't think about the backache, which will be worse with two.

Hamster - Hope you are feeling better today. Was actually going to come on here to ask about braxton hicks. I didn't realise they started happening at this stage and that they can be painful. Had my 1st one today and I can understand what you be about the pain. It hurt mainly on the lower part of my tummy. Don't remember having them last time.

BEKsmum · 28/08/2005 17:34

Afternoon all, Hamster are you secretly a twin I didn't know I had? I was violently sick last night and followed it up with braxton hicks so can completely sympathise with you.

Sounds like yours went on for a quite a bit longer than mine though, i think baby was just protesting about me hurling so hard. I've got to say I prefer the pain of labour to being sick!!! Make sure youtake it easy for the rest of the weekend though as those symptoms sound scarily like the real thing, will keep everything crossed for you and I'd suggest you do the same

Wow Nova very glam, i bet pregnancy really suits you as you look very tall and lean - I'm very envious!

Lol at you lot and the Gaviscon I can't abide it and have been living off Rennies for the last couple of weeks - my dh and his sister can swig Gaviscon straight from the bottle but I'd rather put up with the heartburn.

Right got to go as have just been summoned for dinner and then off to see my big brother as it's his b'day today.

Speak to you all ater Beks (29wks)

novadandypowder · 28/08/2005 17:43

Not tall or lean I'm afraid Beksmum, a very average 5'6" and size 10/12. I actually lost half a stone after this picture was taken through my dancing, so thats what I have to aim for post baby. Oh, and it is my real hair

ChaCha · 28/08/2005 18:18

Hi Beks - Have a great night! The weather is fab here and it looks like warm weather for most of the week...yippeee!!! Got any plans?

Nova - I was just thinking to myself how people can be so very different but have just ONE common factor that links them. Think that's what i like so much about MN. You can meet people of all different backgrounds/lifestyles/cultures etc.. that's what i also love about London. Are you into a certain kind of club scene? Whats the genre? It's all v.colourful looking.
p.s. Tell me to pee off if i'm being nosey...i'm v.interested in the human sciences

Nothing that colourful from me i'm afraid. Other than my red marker of course!!!

babyonboard · 28/08/2005 21:08

glad you all have heartburn too! (well..obviously not 'glad', mwuhahahahah), just good to hear others griping about the bloody stuff!
nova- whenever you mention your 'grobag' i imagine you curled up in a baby sleeping bag...teeheee...obviously i know thats not what you mean!
I have really enjoyed our lazy weekend, yesterday dragged the futon onto the floor in the living room and curled up on it, watched 'shaun of the dead'..heelarious1, eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, which was lovely , and moulin rouge, for the hundredth time.
was nice to have oh around to get me emergeny snacks and drinks from the shop (oh and for his company of course..hehe)
today was beautifully sunny..i felt sad i wasn't up to going out, but we managed a stroll to our local and sat in the garden playing with the landlords dogs and drinking shandy (yey!).
oh has gone out with friends, and despite my complaints of loneliness last week i'm actually quite liking having time to myself. Our flatmates moved out yesterday so I can finally think about a nursery (though oh wants it to become a dining room ...grr)and have total alone time, just running a bubbly bath and will turn stereo up loud and have ddor flung open..bliss!
hope you are all enjoying your weekend and the sun !

novadandypowder · 28/08/2005 21:09

red marker? am i missing something?

it would be good if anyone else fancies putting up a picture, be good to put a face to a name IYKWIM.

Yes chacha, I am into a 'certain' kind of club scene, as you may well be aware by some of my other posts on MN (and by DH's website if you looked at the site thats holding the 3d scan pictures).

The MN xmas party should be an interesting gathering, as you say it'll be full of people who started off with one thing in common.

babyonboard · 28/08/2005 21:13

i want to put up a picture but i don't know how! booo

novadandypowder · 28/08/2005 21:19

I tried following the advice on members profiles but couldn't do it at all. Thats why you've ended up with a silly pic, as it's the only one I can link to on the internet. Was hoping to put up sophisticated wedding pic, lol

babyonboard · 28/08/2005 21:21

best i can do! there are three different pictures on here

babyonboard · 28/08/2005 21:22

Oh and I should advise..i haven't updated it for a while, so forgive my references to loving smoking and drinking! (and high heels at the moment..grr)

novadandypowder · 28/08/2005 21:30

you look so pretty

babyonboard · 28/08/2005 21:42

aw..thanks nova..i don't feel so pretty no maw! hehe
i was actually just going to update my profile on there, remove the pic of me with fag in mouth, hehe and all the aformentioned references but i don't want to while i am so 'baby centric' .. i need to retain a little of the old me. i was cross with my self earlier in the supermarket as i got excited that dettol spray was buy one get one free..hehehe
oh for the days of filling up the basket with gin and jacobs creek...

twinkle1 · 28/08/2005 21:57

BoB - Your pic is lovely. Awwww....

Ooops must go

babyonboard · 28/08/2005 22:30

i love the pic dp took of me asleep...he does it all the time and this is the only one in which i don't look shocking..hehehe

goldenoldie · 29/08/2005 07:03

Anyone else up early? It's a beautiful morning - good drying day for washing on the line............

Babyonboard - cute pics, makes me realise I am nearly double your age - eek!

Anyone else getting a bit bored, mentally, not being at work? I've been off for five weeks now (and won't go back till after the twins arrive) and even tho I need the rest physically and time to get things organised I miss using my brain.

Making sure there is something for supper/the cleaner has done under the sink/checked DS music practice/sorting out the nursery is just not very challenging.....................

Oh well, I'm sure I will find it hard enough when I've got two babies wailing and I've not slept for a week!

lyra41 · 29/08/2005 07:15

Hi Goldenoldie

I'm up early too, often am tbh. I like an early night and then sometimes I'm wide awake at 6am.

I'm just moonlighting on your thread as I'm not due till Jan 06, but thought it would be good to communicate with someone else. My lot (dh, ds and dd) are all sleeping and really I should be tidying the kitchen, having gone to bed early and left it in a right mess last night, but here I am....

I'm a bit of a golden oldie too, I'll be 41 by the time ds2 is born and possibly planning another after that, although I don't know where we'd put him / her as we only have 4 bedrooms.

Not a particularly good day for drying washing on hte line today here in Manchester, although lots of washing to be done after a weekend away at sil's wedding and changed the beds before we went.

Sorry to hear you're getting bored with your ML, I know what you mean about the challenges of running a household not being enough when you're used to working elsewhere too. What can I suggest? Hmm, reading, if that floats your boat? You could joing a reading circle locally and make some extra friends as well as finding some good books. Your local library may have notices advertising reading groups.

HTH.

ChaCha · 29/08/2005 09:57

Morning all,

Hiya goldenoldie - I would say enjoy the not so challenging last style while you can My gosh, you are having twins!!!!!
I've decided to work p/t at a later date, possible a few hours teaching or light admin - think it will be good for us all. You are planning to return to work later too right? Any idea when?

Has anyone else been having dreams of the baby? I did last night, it was lovely...until he was thrown over to me and dropped and I had to call 999 as he'd stopped breathing I actually read one woman's dream of leaving her baby in a drawer and not being able to find it, they say it's all anxieties over labour etc.. I sure hope so!!! LOL

Hope everyone has a great bank holiday. We are just off for the day..yipeee!!! x

goldenoldie · 29/08/2005 10:01

Thanks Lyra - nice to know I'm not the only ancient mum on MN!

Sorry the weather is not so good up north. We are heading for 30 degrees in Ldn/south by Wednesday. Planning to wash all my pillows and duvets this week - oh, what an exciting life I lead now!

I read loads. I will look out for a local reading group. Have just finished a John Lanchester - his most recent one, all about one mans life story in Hong Kong. I know, does not sound promising, but the writing is so good it just draws you in. What are you reading at the mo?

I am involved in a few community activites too, and I could easily get more active/do more for those groups - maybe I will...............

goldenoldie · 29/08/2005 10:04

ChaCha - yes, I'm def. going back to work. Probably when boys are about 6 months. I intend to do three days a week - but if I get made an offer of an interesting project by work I would consider more.............

twinkle1 · 29/08/2005 10:07

morning all,
Im sick weather here is crap!! we are stuck in a wet damp cold patch of hill fog, suppose this is what you get when you live up in the peak district!!!!
having a relaxed day just doing a few jobs, sorting avon, taking rubbish to tip etc. Very jealous of anyone with good weather.
The kitchen looks fab for having grouted the tiles, i am on a terrible diy bender at the moment. If it lasts i will have a practicaly new house by the time the baby arrives
well must go and sort diswasher out

Hiya!

Nova, yeah, the guys i work for wanted to employ me properly but said i may lose money from agency. Looked into it, wont get any money from agency so they're going to give me an SMP1 form to send for the government pay. its so much to deal with, i've never claimed benefits, you need a degree just to fill out the forms LOL.
Hopefully finance won't be sooo bad now, mt gran is going to help me and my Mum is coming down to stay with us for a week and take us shopping!

So, have any of you had strange dreams? I know they're normal, but still freak me out, for the second time I had a dream that I forgot to feed baby but i know they kinda tell us when they're hungry LOL she started talking to me saying 'its ok, i'm fine' oh dear, been watching too much family guy ::bangs head against wall::

Having a lazy bank holiday to do, things need to be done but other half can do it on his day off

xx

novadandypowder · 29/08/2005 17:40

I've been having very lovely baby dreams - perfect birth, perfect baby, and very lovely meeting baby moment.

Will be getting back to the DIY this week, was hoping to get the bathroom finished before DH got back from edinburgh, but I've been working at the animal home over the weekend so have been too knackered by the time i've got back. They've persuaded me to foster a nervous kitten, to get it used to human contact to give it a better chance of re-homing. DH has to give up his study for a few weeks, bless, the poor little thing is sooo scared.

GoldenOldie, i've really got into Sudoku, it challenges the brain without exhausting the body.
