Evening girls, welcome aboard Pinkminx, your posts made me smile as I was catching up, i take it you're taking pregnancy all in your stride - good for you.

Best thing to do is ring your hospital about who you should be seeing regarding a midwife as you should proabably be seen at 28, 31, 34, 36 & 40 weeks now and the hospital should also be able to get you either onto an antenatal class or at least get you a ward visit so you know where you're going - the classes aren't that much help really other than for scaring the pants off you !!!

Nice to see you back Krisitna, know how you feel about the hips and back!

Enthusia you've just got yourself a job as a girls present adviser in future 'cos I haven't got a clue!!! I have a niece but her mum always tells me what to buy !!!

Had a nice day today, Ben went to a party and had a really good time feeding the animals at the farm and then feeding his face afterwards - a party of 3& 4 year olds it was hard to tell when one feeding time stopped and the other started - not really they all behaved really really well.

Have got to ask the others are any of your kids really tall? - I had to go out and buy Ben a new top this morning for the party as it was too cold for short sleeves or smart shirts and I ended up buying a 6yr old top, the thing is he's only 3.5 and he seems to be on a continual growth spurt I think we must be putting him to sleep in a growbag!

Right better go as dh wants toget on to play his game, speak to you all later Beks (29 wks 2morrow)

ChaCha · 27/08/2005 21:20

Hi Beks and Hi Cads,

Cads - if you all just lived nearby the doors are open for tea and sympathy! Well maybe minus the tea....
Lilt on ice anyone? oh..and wotsits allround...

pinkminx79 · 27/08/2005 21:24

i LOVE wotsits!!!

i'm there hehe

xx

CADS · 27/08/2005 21:48

WOTSITS

Thanks chacha

Enthusia · 28/08/2005 09:37

Pinkminx - I'm also due on the 11th!!!!!

I only just booked my antenatal classes, well 2 weeks ago and managed to get onto my hospital ones and the NCT ones - although had to go for the saturday intensive for these. So hopefully you won't have a problem. The hospital ones take on loads of people!!!!!

Nova - I expected the Portland antenatal classes to be a lot more than that. I'm paying £150 for 4 weeks of NCT.

goldenoldie · 28/08/2005 10:13

Ops - only just posted my stats.

Feel a bacon sarnie coming on. Putting on weight at such a rate I will need to start the diet about 15 minutes after delivery. Family are full of helpful comments like 'you won't have time to eat with twins anyway'.....................

Thinking about having FOUR cots? House has three levels and I don't fancy my chances dashing up and down the stairs with two babies at a time, so I thought that having two cots in quiet downstairs room (for daytime naps), as well as two cots in nursery upstairs (for bedtime) could save my legs? What do you think?

DH thinks it's profligate additional expense (but that's because he is paying!)

tessasmum · 28/08/2005 10:29

Morning all!

Welcome Pinkminx (had to really try not to write Pick n Mix - far too many thoughts of food on here, its that stage isn't it?)

Sitting here with Tessa having 2nd breakfast, 1st was Croissants in bed - many crumbs but the bed needs changing anyway

I am also suffering at night now, just can't get comfy and my knees and hips start to really ache. Going to try a few more pillows tonight. All my tossing and turning is keeping DH awake too and he doesn't do tired very well, hence Tessa and I sitting here eating on our own Still at least I can claim napping rights this afternoon.

Hope to pop back later, CBeebies being demanded now!

30 weeks I think!

pinkminx79 · 28/08/2005 11:05

hiya waves thanks guys!
I find in the evening a cup of peppermint tea to soothe any pending indigestion (I have that really bad), a wedgy pillow under bump and a pillow between the legs really helps.
touch wood, indigestion is the only bad thing i have at the mo, although i think i had my first Brandon Hix last night ooOOooooch!

goldenoldie · 28/08/2005 11:56

Gaviscon works for me otherwise food would be repeating itself for hours afterwards. But have to balance the nausea that Gavison induces (It's like drinking cold vomit)against the heartburn/acid reflux that I will suffer if I don't take it.

Enthusia · 28/08/2005 11:58

Hiya

Have a rash on my bump - did do seperate thread about this yesterady on PG but no one has replied ! Anyone else got, had a rash. It is like little bites, it doesn't itch, only hurts when i rub it and is only on one side of bump. It seems to fade and then come back. Any suggestions?

ChaCha · 28/08/2005 12:33

Enthusia, I've had a similar on/off rash just round my aerola (sp) for a while now - I'm going to see my GP about it soon. That probably didn't really help you did it? I haven't really bothered with it as it comes and goes and doesn't cause me any problems really. Have you googled it?

goldenoldie - I think it sounds like a good idea - the cots that is. I can't imagine life with one baby let alone twins. You must be quite excited...awwwwww!!

Hiya Tessasmum - Nice to see you. I've jut had brekkie courtesy of DH. Need at least 20 minutes just sat here after eating, don't seem capable of moving.
I don't sleep that well anymore but must admit had a good few hours from about 6am with no visits to the bathroom, movements in any shape or form or pains. It was bliss.

I'm really feeling strange these days. Life is definitely changing. Surely not everyone is goo ga'ing ... I'm worried silly.

pinkminx79 · 28/08/2005 13:06

Goldenoldie...i get like a heat rash on my stretch marks, i tried baby oil last night, seems to have calmed things down a bit.

i got prescribed a vat of Gaviscon last week, the look, texture and taste made me puke!! But i was really bad last night so i just held my nose and went for it LOL!!!

CADS · 28/08/2005 13:52

Hello

It is a lovely day today. Was starting to think that winter had arrived early. Off hunting for a cheap cot this afternoon as well as a trike for ds, poor little solider is still battling with his ears.

Can relate with everyone's uncomfortable nights and heartburn. My gaviscon bottle lives on my bedside table, on really get heartburn when lying down.

Goldie - Have you considered using travel cots for downstairs. They cheaper and more mobile. Will be handing for holidays (if you can manage any) as well as playpens/somewhere safe to put them, when they become more mobile. I think mothercare do a basic one for £40.

Tessa - DS was turned into a Cbeebies addict from about 8mnths. Keeps him entertained so I can get on with the housework/cooking, but feel like a bad mother sometimes. Cbeebies was especially helpful once he became mobile and refused to keep still for nappy changes .

Take care

CADS · 28/08/2005 13:55

I mean

ONLY really get heartburn when lying down

Also, call me sick but I quite enjoy the taste of aniseed gaviscon. Must have acquired the taste from last pregnancy.

novadandypowder · 28/08/2005 14:00

wow, reading about all your aches and pains makes me feel bad, as I'm actually feeling the best i've felt since the line turned blue. I suddenly realised today that I can't remember the last time I was sick, which is a huge acheivement. I always wake up in the night (particularly 6am this morning when someone decided to start the carnival celebrations early ) but am sleeping better due to being busy during the day now. I couldn't sleep without my grobag though, it is a godsend.

Enthusia, I actually get the classes cheaper than that as I'm having baby there. They actually try to push the local NCT classes rather than their own, so that you can meet local people, but DH is a snob, and we figured that the Portland classes may cover slightly different things as the policies are a bit different in a private hospital. We get 6 weeks of 2 hours on a wednesday night.

Must go and jump in the bath before DH gets back from Edinburgh - one of his clients won the Perrier Comedy Award last night so I'm sure he'll be hungover. At the moment my feet hurt and I smell of dog after spending my morning mucking out kennels - so not sexy

novadandypowder · 28/08/2005 14:06

Cads, great idea with the travel cot. Think GO would definitly benefit from having cots on more than one level. I'm currently thinking about something like that myself, but then I realise I'm only having one baby and stairs = exercise. In case no-one has realised I'm very very scared about losing my figure in a very vain and superficial way. I've lost most of my dancing muscle, so will have to start at the beginning again when I get back to it. Aim to be back on the pole by xmas.

ChaCha · 28/08/2005 14:20

Of course, it's carnival weekend!! I totally forgot. I sooo miss Ladbroke Grove, I was brought up very, very close to Kensingtion New Pools (is it still called that?) and I just get this wonderful feeling of nostalgia whenever i'm there. Get the same with Queensgate and Gloucester Road. Awww....memory lane!

Nova - I haven't even thought about getting any kind of figure back, however, am hoping that when baby is about 4-5 months I'll be going to stay with my father abroad for a while where i get the opportunity of many babysitters and the chance to really pamper myself with the sports club and all it's facilities. I don't get to do anything that lux here. It is great to swim outdoors daily and indulge in all that's there but what will be nice is a few weeks at the beach. Life here is v.different.

Happy reunion with your DH Nova..now that i can put a face to him I am curious as to yours!!!! Any member profile pics going up

Right..stop talking!!!

CADS · 28/08/2005 14:23

Nova - If we had more space I would get a travel cot for ds. I watched a program where the woman use to put her toddlers (she had twins) in a travel cot when they were naughty. It was used as a naughty corner/step. I thought it was quite a good idea because they can't get away so you don't have to keep putting them back which is more stressful and you land up giving up. Not the sort of thing you need to think about but I'm at that stage with ds.

And god, i lost my figure the minute I got pregnant with ds.

hamster · 28/08/2005 14:42

Good afternoon ladies,

What a lovely day it is today-though I must admit I've not vetured out yet

Woke yesterday morning feeling terribly sick, had a glass of water, which soon after re-made an appearance. Haven't been sick for a while, did not bring back good memories!
Along with the incredibly bad heartburn I'm getting this time, I think compared with my lasy pg, I'm getting a crap deal! lol{{self pity}}

Can definitely sympathise with the heartburn everyone is suffering with. Gaviscon LIVING on the coffee table and bedside cabinet. Even the taste no longer bothers me anymore. (my evil doctor ALWAYS prescribes the bl**dy aniseed flavour! bleugh!)

Anyway, I don't know whether anyone else has experienced the dreaded braxton hicks yet, but in bed last night, I seriously pictured going into hospital, my pains were that bad!
My bump was going incredibly hard every 5 minutes or so, accompanied by BAD, BAD PAIN, and needing a no2 sooooo bad(which is how labour started last time). But luckily after an hour of panick, and venturing back and forth to the loo every few minutes....it stopped.
Relief has never felt so good-not to mention the fact that I think Dp had kittens several times!
It made me think, it's not actually that far off now

Hope you're all well, apart from the aches and pains etc.
Catch you all soon!

xx

chacha, I've been trying to put a picture on the members profiles for ages but i can't seem to do it. Anyway here is a pic of me at xmas - I am snow white, excuse the pixie.

Pinkminx, have you checked that you're entitled to Maternity Allowance. I worked temp too so didn't get any from an employer, but can get it from the state?

ChaCha · 28/08/2005 15:32

Colourful pic Nova - very glam indeed
