Evening all.

Luckily heartburn has disappeared for time being, no doubt to return with avengence in the near future. Haven't had to resort to Gaviscon again yet and dreading it. I'm like you BEKS, it nearly made me heave but I ODed on Rennies last time and NEVER ever want another one.
Had a better night's sleep too last night, using big pillow for my legs rather than teeny-weeny camping one.

Also started with the Braxton Hicks though can only feel my belly being tight if I have my hand on it, luckily from the sound of it. Same last time though then it was DH who felt it more than me!

GoldenOldie - you aren't the only ancient on here, I beat you by a year or two, still only act as though I'm in my 20's though
Don't know if the NCT does much round your way but their sales are great for getting stuff at a decent price. We are planning to get a cot at the next one here, if you need 4 it might be worth your while. I think my mum had my brother and sister in together for quite a while but then we were in a 2 up/2 down

As for getting figures back - Nova, I hate to say it but Christmas seems a little soon. It takes 9 months to get as big as you are going to get, it may take that long to get back down again. Don't want to discourage you but don't want you to get too stressed when you don't ping back to your old shape straight away. Hopefully you'll prove me wrong anyway

ChaCha · 29/08/2005 19:48

Evening all,

How was everyone's bank holiday? The weather in London was fab!

Enthusia - How are you doing? Are you still nesting and being busy? We've managed to sort the upstairs rooms now and there is definitely no nursery for baby, just a wardrobe and chest of drawers in one of the rooms. Guess I won't be as busy as i had apprehended! I'll just tire myself thinking of you instead

I'd just gone through some of our old posts back in April and having a laugh at some of our v.early pregnancy moments

Have a good night girls x

pinkminx79 · 29/08/2005 19:51

Morning all

It is absolutely lovely here again today, I hope you are all basking in the sunshine too.

My rash is now going down, it has turned into little scar like spots, very odd, but they don't hurt now which is great.

I feel a little strange at the mo when I read your comments as I am having no pg symptoms!!!! No heartburn, I can sleep easily and no pains etc. I actually feel great! Bubs is moving heaps and DH is now really interested as he thinks he can feel hands, feet and elbows etc. As Nova said, this is the best I have felt in PG, although I have had quite a few lovely months now. Puts those dire first 16 weeks into perspective. I remember thinking I would feel that way forever, and being so low. Now everything seems rosy.

Sorry for those of you who are not having such a lovely ride - I am sure my time will come!

As for Braxton Hicks - I am not sure if I have had them or not. I have had something akin to period pain a few times, but it has been short lived. Felt just the same, but quite low not all around my bump. Could this be them?

ChaCha - I am loving doing the nursery etc, it makes it all seem more real, and as I was saying I feel great, so I need lots to do to keep my occupied. I am just having to be careful now that I don't buy everything and get it all ready too early, I still have 10 weeks left!

I am getting quite scared about actually becoming a parent, and keep telling myself to relax. There just seems to be so much stuff you need to know and a realisation that there is no way you are going to know it!

ChaCha - I have kept all the conversations on here and have taken out my bits that explain how I have felt about this PG to keep as a sort of diary. I thought that would be a better, and more real way of recording this amazing event!!! Can't wait to read it when I am 50! I wonder what I will think about it all then.

Right, today's list of jobs include cleaning house, walking into town to do menial bits and having some time out to read my book - it is on Emotional Intelligence and is really interesting!

Ok, Shower is calling

Enthusia - Have just been for a stroll to the local shop and it's already very warm. Probably won't venture out later if it's going to get warmer but might prepare a small BBQ. Anything that involves food is always going to get my thumbs up these days!
Is good that rash is no longer a worry - did you manage to see anyone about it?
Think yourself lucky that you are feeling so well and enjoy it! I feel quite good most of the time but bouts of sickness and aches just creep up on me when i least expect it. I have to admit that the Yoga and breathing exercises are doing me a world of good.
DH and I were in London visiting friends yesterday and the comments I received were well and truly diverse..I had everything from 'I can't even tell you're pregnant' to 'Oh...you're really starting to get big' and 'You look so well, wow' to 'You look really drained, do you need anything?' LOL Personal Mental Note: Take everything said with a pinch of salt!

I still haven't chosen a pram/cot or anything. In fact, I have bought NOTHING. The baby has plenty of clothes courtesy of mum and MIL but that's it. Perhaps i should mark Week 30 with a shopping spree, I've waited long enough!

Diary is a great idea - I've been blogging online and do copy some of the messages from here that i might have missed on the blog. Like you said, imagine reading that later in life!

Am getting more excited about scan which is now scheduled for Friday!!!

Well, off to do some washing and chores before it gets too hot.

Twinkle - Sending you some sun rays.....{hot ray of sun}

Have a great day everyone x

Morning girls, hope everyone had a good bank holiday weekend. We went to our local carnival yesterday which was absolutely dire although Ben got candyfloss on a stick which he thought was fantastic & then went to another local park to play crazy golf and to feed the ducks all very pleasant but rather hot!

Had a life defining moment yesterday - much to dh's amusement he found my first grey hair - arrggghhh. Have been very superior that hadn't got any yet and then he goes and finds one - that's it I've got the full set now, grey hair, wrinkles and cellulite will ife ever be the same again

Have to take Ben to the dr's this morning as he has something wrong with his eye, I think it's just a stye but thought it best to go and get it checked out as he's had it since Saturday and needless to say you can't get to see a dr over the bank holiday for love nor money!

Lazy day today and then half a dozen of us are taking our kids to Brighton tomorrow, planning to get my palm read by a very good reader while there which should be a bit of fun, perhaps he can help me name this baby if it's going to be a boy 'cos we sure don't have a clue!

Right best go and sort out the mini monster, speak to you all later enjoy the good weather f you've got it and twinkle sending you some additional sunrays from here too (sparkle, sparkle)

Enthusia · 30/08/2005 11:37

Hiya Pinkminx

Maternity leave in a full time job can start as early as 11 weeks prior to your confinement week, the week beginning before your due date.

Most employers, I have heard of, say they would like you to finish 4 weeks before your due date (at the minimum).

I finished early as I am a teacher so had the summer off and then not much point going back after, plus we are moving.

Hope this helps, and hope your back isn't too bad!!!!

pinkminx79 · 30/08/2005 12:00

thanks enthusia! yeah unfortunately i left my last crappy job before discovering i was pregnant. I think i just need some Chrissie

xx

novadandypowder · 30/08/2005 12:39

Tessasmum, I'm not hoping to get my figure back by xmas (although that would be fab), I'm hoping to start my dancing again by then. It'll take me a good couple of months to get back up to standard again (the pain, the bruises) but it should help me to tone up. So far I've only put on about 3/4kgs, and that's all centred around belly and boobs, the rest of me is pretty much the same size.

STOP PRESS!!! nova is actually enjoying pregnancy. It's taken me nearly 7 months to get around to it, but i'm liking it at the mo. Was talking to DH last night, saying how I would miss feeling baby scrabble around inside me, and it dawned on me. DH seemed really surprised that I enjoyed feeling it move so much, think he thinks it hurts or is uncomfortable.

Don't think i've been having Braxton Hicks yet, or none that I'm aware of anyway.

Got my Maternity Allowance approval today, so thats £106 per week until february - hurrah. If it wasn't for me reading Prima Baby Mag I would never have realised I was entitled to it, so I feel very justified buying them now.

Having lazy day today, keeping out of the sun and trying to coax timid kitten out from under the futon.

Xena · 30/08/2005 12:53

Hi Guys just thought i'd crash your thread and tell you I got a BFP!! Heres hoping it happens this time

SharonTW1 · 30/08/2005 12:56

Hi girls thought I'd add my twopenneth worth, I'm due 18th Nov and leaving work the 14th Oct, although where I work you can work up to the day before your due date !!!
What's this maternity allowance I've heard mentioned is it for working people ??

SharonTW1 · 30/08/2005 12:57

ps whats a BFP ??

novadandypowder · 30/08/2005 13:00

A BFP means Xena's going to have baby!!!!!

Congratulations xxx

novadandypowder · 30/08/2005 13:06

Sharon, Maternity Allowance is for people who can't get SMP from an employer (either because they are not in work, or self employed, or not been with employer long enough to qualify), but have worked for at least 26 out of the 66 weeks before the baby is born (see pinkminx's comment about needing a degree to fill in the forms). You get paid for 26wks from 11 wks before your baby is due, so mine started on 15th August, although it's taken them a couple of weeks to process so I don't get any money until this friday.

pinkminx79 · 30/08/2005 13:20

congratulations!!

Sharon, I'm guessing you live very close to me? I'm starting antnatal classes (yes finally booked them today) at St Johns Oak Lane for Oct

xx

hopefully i'll get the £106 a week (fingers crossed) for not being with my employer long enough

CADS · 30/08/2005 13:21

Good morning everyone

Had a nice busy weekend. It is amazing how the weather affects my energy levels.

Glad to see most of us are enjoying this stage of pregnancy, and lets hope it continues.

Xena - Congrats!! So happy for you . Do you have a due date yet? Hope everything goes well with this pregnancy.

Pinkminx - I worked until 38 weeks last time. My employers were happy to let me work until I popped unless pregnancy related illnesses affected my work in the last four weeks.

Nova - Is there a helpful website that I can use to research MA?

Beks - Hope everything is ok with Ben's eye and enjoy Brighton tomorrow.

Off to feed baby.
