chacha-the average sizes for babies in this country are- 7lb for a girl 7.5lb for a boy, and i think its anything above 8.5lb is considered macrosomic!(oversized) lol

babyonboard · 08/09/2005 14:31

takeaways are fine at my hospital - dp brought chinese in for me last time I had to stay, as they missed me out for dinner and offered my dry toast instead..hehe
I have found Gaviscon doesn't work at all...nor do rennies..in fact we have packets and packets of different pnes all with a couple missing, as i've tried and tested nearly every one in boots..
When spould we post the recipes!?

goldenoldie · 08/09/2005 14:38

Chacha - Like sarah, I've been taking Iron supplements since early on in the first tri. My iron levels were good the last time the hospital tested, but i really notice the difference if I've missed a couple - completely knackered.

Tessa - no problem. Would be great to see you but not worth taking the risk with a poorly child.

Look forward to seeing anyone else that can make it tomorrow. Just look for the table with the ladies with bumps!

Busyalexsmummy · 08/09/2005 15:25

How about posting recipes here, that way we can find them easily without having to search the thread

herethis

babyonboard · 08/09/2005 15:49

Good plan!

ChaCha · 08/09/2005 15:59

It's a welcome break to be able to stop what i'm doing and just park up at the PC to catch up. Back was aching after doing the chores but seems fine once i've sat down and positioned myself. BoB - might have to take a leaf out of your book and do everything around a chair! Great idea!

Busy - Fab thread for the recipes! and well done BoB. I will get my books out later when relaxing and type some up. Also thanks for weight information, that's interesting. According to the table in notes baby is expected to 8lbs or over. Not sure how they work that one out!

Tessasmum - Sorry to hear that your little one isn't very well. Hope you make it to the meet up just the same but if not hoping your daughter gets well. With second/third/fourth timers do these third trimester niggles come pretty low on your worries agenda? Still don't know how you all do it.

Back to the grind then x

oops - getting a little carried away with the recipes thread
I'm not sure about pancakes as I always call my gran for instructions whenever I make them

babyonboard · 08/09/2005 16:40

forget that.. i just asked her and posted it on there!
i love pancakes..we tend to make up a load of mix and keep it in a jug in the fridge, it's easy to just cook up a couple, and it lasts for two or three days.

Hi girls,

Have been elbow deep in papers and forms this afternoon sorting out dp's self-assessment, we (or rather I because it's me who does it) are aiming to get it in before the end of Sept for a change! Also rang up the tax credit people to sort that for another year, I was half way through the form and rang them up to make a few changes (they've been spelling dp's name wrong forever!) and she said she could do the declaration over the phone and not to bother with the form! I didn't know you could do that! How handy!

Have been stressing about Christmas for some reason this morning, it's just going to creep up on us after all our babies are born so I'm hoping to do some of it before she/he makes an appearance! (Although, I think I may be kidding myself)

Well done on the recipe thread and well done BOB!! That's how I make my cheesecakes, although I just use 2 limes, juice and zest, and use ginger buscuits instead. Dp's favorite! He has one instead of a birthday cake! May treat him this weekend now you've jogged my memory!

BTW Busy, I use 4oz plain flour, 2 eggs and about half a pint of milk and water mixed and a pinch of salt. Although it does depend on the flour, it needs to be the consistency of single cream, and don't add too much mix to the pan and swirl it to the edges! Makes about 50 pancakes!!! Well maybe not that many

Enthusia, I think goldenoldie meant she had a 42 inches waist measurement but I wonder what her fundal height is - it must be different with twins? Are you around goldenoldie - maybe you can clarify?!!

Speak to you all later x x x

chacha, I've just got my weekend bag, and it's a fine size for me, but think it may be a bit on the small side if you have to take stuff for baby as well (depending on how many clothes you want to take, and how long you're staying in hospital). I find out at my 36 wk scan how big they expect baby to be, but so far my measurements seem to be average, so hoping not to have a gigantor baby like DH was.

Looking forward to lunch tomorrow - are we meeting at the entrance or is the first one there going to nab a table?

Bob, guess who's now going to have to make pancakes over the weekend .

Massage was loverly, zoned out a couple of times and really had to try hard not to snooze. Managed to nip across the road to the NYNC after to get a quick reshape and polish. An indulgent afternoon indeed.

novadandypowder · 08/09/2005 17:01

oh forgot to add - I had to stop myself snorting last night when the rubbish midwife said that the difference between Braxton Hicks and real contractions is that BH's don't hurt!! I could point her to a whole forum of women who would beg to differ...

goldenoldie · 08/09/2005 17:18

Rodeo - I have a 47 inch waist measurement and a 42cm fundal height!

Re: Christmas - everyone is getting a gift token or hard cash this year. Doubt anyone will be expecting unusual/hard-to-find pressies from us this year - but if they are they will be dissapointed.

Nova - first one there should nab a table (just in case it rains as forecast tomorrow, and I'm too tired to stand up for any length of time anyway) - there won't be many of us so should not be hard to find lady/ladies with bumps.

Wouls love a massage - tell me all about it tomorrow.

babyonboard · 08/09/2005 17:22

I can't believe I've only just beome aware of the meet up..shame..it sounds fun!
I thought you were talking about the big xmas meet up
Does anyone have a tip for good roast potatoes? it's one of those things i can never get right..they are either burnt on one side, or soggy in the middle

goldenoldie · 08/09/2005 17:35

Baby - you are welcome to join us tomorrow.

The December mums are planning a meet in Baisingstoke - maybe any November mums who live up that way could join them too?

babyonboard · 08/09/2005 17:38

where and when are you meeting?
we have guests arriving tomorrow afternoon and dp is at work so can't be here to meet them..but I will try!

novadandypowder · 08/09/2005 17:43

Oh go-on Bob join us - it's 12.30 at Wagamamma's in Angel.

Chacha, ignore earlier post about the samsonite bag being small, on closer inspection it's quite a tardis

babyonboard · 08/09/2005 17:47

oooh..well i think i have to be at kings cross station for 2.30pm to meet them, so should be ideal!
how will we know who everyone is? i've seen novas pic, but what do i do if i'm the first there..

novadandypowder · 08/09/2005 17:49

Roast pot's are the one thing I can get right! Make sure you use good spuds for roasting, I'm really liking Rooster's at the mo. Par boil for 10 mins, drain then return to the pan and give them a good shake to bash them up on the outside. Add a thin layer of olive oil to the roasting tin and pre-heat in the oven. When the oil is hot add the spuds and coat in the oil before putting back in the oven. Cook on 220oC for 35-45 mins depending on how big you've cut them. You should only need to turn them once during cooking.

novadandypowder · 08/09/2005 17:51

We all have each others mobile numbers just in case, but I'm guessing we just look for the ladies with a bump

babyonboard · 08/09/2005 17:51

thanks..i'll try it tonight!
i see where i am going wrong now..i never par boil, and put them into cold oil and just whack it all in..obviously thats why they end up burnt before cooked throughout!

babyonboard · 08/09/2005 17:52

of course..totally forgot that distinguishing marker!hehehe

novadandypowder · 08/09/2005 17:54

Wagamammas ? upstairs in the N1 centre, Islington. Opposite the Angel Islington
Tube station.

ChaCha · 08/09/2005 18:34

Nova - I'm glad you think the bag bigger on inspection as I've just ordered mine this afternoon (worked out at just under £27 include P&P which was the cheapest i'd found online). Am dragging a friend out tomorrow to pick up some of the toiletries that both you and Enthusia have mentioned and then i'll start ticking off items on the list...yipeee!
Spoil yourself I say Your afternoon sounds lovely and relaxing!

Hope you ladies all have a wonderful lunch tomorrow. Don't forget the pics! I want to see who you all are. Am going to treat myself in the city centre to make up for the fact that i'm unable to come..he he!!!

Off to eat x

ChaCha · 08/09/2005 18:41

Didn't get v.far. Me again!

Nova - What colour did you get? I ordered the black but have just checked my email to find that they ran out yesterday and can offer me the beige or wait until mid next week. As i'm not in a great rush think i'll wait but was wondering if perhaps you'd chosen a different colour that was maybe nicer?
