MummyWithA1Family I'm sorry, and good luck for the future.

Usually at this time on a Friday I'm in the pub with everyone from work but have 'accidentally' Wink booked for my supermarket shop to be delivered today instead of yesterday. Seemed a good way of avoiding the inevitable 'Why aren't you drinking?' questions as I'm known for being a real ales fan so my not drinking will be very obvious.

I have to say I'm very glad it's Friday because I can now sleeeeeeeeeeeeeep! My eyes are drooping as I type. The last few nights I've had terrible broken sleep and very vivid dreams (last night I dreamt my purse had been stolen, it was so vivid I got up at some horribly early hour to check it was in my handbag!). I'm also stressing because we've only been able to extend our current lease a month which gives us a very shot timescale to find somewhere new to live. Thankfully DH has said he will handle the majority of that, given that I'm spending most of my time send sticky baby dust thoughts to my little bean.

On that note, I send sticky baby dust to you all!

tlat · 13/08/2010 17:48

MummyWithA1Family...so sorry to hear of your loss, take care of yourself!

BeetleBaby, good luck with the move!

Actually...where does everyone live? I am in London....wonder if I will bump into any of you in the coming weeks! Wink

JustKeepSwimming · 13/08/2010 18:56

Mummy - so sorry to hear your news :(

Well some spotting here so keeping positive but accepting the possibility of it not working out, probably all is fine though:)

Off tomorrow for 2 weeks, have packed a pair of 'too-big' trousers just in case, lol Grin

youngblowfish · 13/08/2010 19:12

Welcome mole2, mipi75 and MissWooWoo!

MummyWithA1Family, I'm so sorry. Keeping my fingers crossed for all your existing and future babies.

BeetleBaby, I know exactly what you mean about broken sleep. I keep dreaming about being behind at work, but it actually motivates me to get more done during the day, which I need! I also struggle to get comfortable, despite being normally a very relaxed sleeper. My breasts are already getting in the way Shock and I find it uncomfortable to sleep on my front (my favourite sleeping position) because of pressure in my lower abdomen. I felt exhausted for a few days, but then I started doing yoga again and it really made a huge difference for me. I don't know how a few stretches and deep breaths can leave me so much more energetic, but somehow they can :).

NotAnotherNappy, I think my DH would very much empathise with yours. It is our first baby and he is very happy, but ultimately I am the pregnant one. DH even felt a little excluded, because everything was happening within my body and outside of his realm of experience. We had a chat about it and he wants to come with me to the first ante-natal appointment, which I think will make him feel more involved. For the time being, I think he enjoys having all the wine to himself :). But as for your appointment with a doctor/midwife, I think it all depends on your GP and the policy they have. A friend of mine who is a partner in a practice told me I don't need to bother ringing my GP up until I am 7-8 weeks, but I spoke to my surgery just in case scans/hospital bookings would need to be arranged well in advance. Turns out I will be seen next week when I will be just over 5 weeks, so I guess it depends on the practice.

tlat, I'm in London as well! [waves over-enthusiastically]

Salsarock, keeping my fingers crossed for you!

I'm sorry this is so wordy - I actually needed two toilet breaks while writing Blush. Sticky baby dust all around!

Sunshine28 · 13/08/2010 19:48

MummyWithA1Family - so sorry for you. I too will be keeping my fingers crossed for you x

gormers · 13/08/2010 19:50

Just realised that I've never added myself to the list - I always check Mn from iphone and it's too hard to copy/paste such a big chunk from there!

So, now I'm added1

Mummy - so sorry to hear about your loss.

I'm with you all on the being knackered front. Normally I'm wiped out come friday evening, but this week is something special!! Unfortunately, friends about to descend - it's probably rude to let them help themselves to my house whilst I kip on the sofa isn't it?!

JKS - Have a great holiday!x

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 13/08/2010 20:56

Mummy I'm so sorry about your loss :(

I've been having weird dreams too, really vivid and bizarre - I wake up exhausted!

Some spotting here too - rang the GP this afternoon who said to keep an eye over the weekend (as if I'm not obsessively knicker-checking every hour Blush) and if I get more or get any pain then she will organise me a scan for early next week.

We're away for the weekend to see my Grandma, pleased that I'm not going to be at home just thinking about things.

tlat · 14/08/2010 08:22

Youngblowfish Wink you never know we might bump into each other in hospital as our EDDs are so close!

Sticky baby dust to Alibaba and everyone else too!

Hello, can I join? Got a (couple of) BFP(s) yesterday, and then two more this morning before I finally got the guts to do a digital. 1-2 weeks pregnant! Yippee!

Still in shock. DH watching football with his mouth open in shock (he'd better take me out for lunch later Grin). Desperate to call my mum but she's going to be bloody annoying and agreed with DH we'd wait to tell our parents til after I've been to the docs on Monday.

Whoop whoop! Takethat, I'm so excited for you!!!! Hooray for you graduating to the April thread!

Just so know, the need to PIAR never leaves - I did it again this morning, just to check. Still pregnant!!

Great to have you on board!x

youngblowfish · 14/08/2010 13:48

takethatlady, congratulations! Your edd is on my birthday Grin.

takethatlady · 14/08/2010 14:26

Ha ha gormers! I did four tests by this morning but couldn't resist going to buy a digital. Bought two digitals and two Boots cheapies ... so I've got 3 left! i wonder how long they'll last!

DH already wants me to do another digital just in case!

Can't find the JS graduates thread - whereabouts is it?

Thanks ladies, sooooooo excited. And congrats to you too!

gormers · 14/08/2010 14:59

It's on the antenatal thread, called Calling The Viroids - Just Shagging Graduates. Will be great to have you on there.x

salsarocks · 14/08/2010 21:03

Told DH last night. Have to say he was brilliant - once he poured himself a giant gin. There was quite a bit of swearing but in a good way Smile and you would think he is the one who is pregnant with all the drama. He keeps bringing up all the practicalities - car, house, childcare none which are going to be easily solved as business not too hot at mo but both of us feel quite excited now, in an apprehensive early doors kind of way! Wishing everyone lots of sticky glue.

Karoleann · 15/08/2010 07:28

Can I join in too - got my BFP yesterday and i'm due on the 22nd April (tend to go overdue though so it'll be right at the end of April).
Have DS1 - 4 and DS2 - 2, so we're secretly hoping for a girl, athough a boy would be lovely too.
I did a test last wednesday, which oddly was negative.
So adding myself

Wishing everyone happy and stress free pregnancies x

takethatlady · 15/08/2010 08:52

Hello salsarocks and Karoleann! Thought I might be the last one on the April bus - glad you ladies are bringing up the rear!

Grin at your DH salsa. Mine keeps saying 'what are the % chances it won't work out. I don't want to get too excited cos then I'll be too upset if it goes wrong ...' Mr cautious! But he's very excited, and very pleased his swimmers can swim better than he can Grin

Has anybody told anyone else yet? Promised DH we would only tell parents/siblings before the 12 week scan, and tomorrow is supposed to be the day for telling them. Just had v. weird convo with my dad about my new job - he sensed something was weird but couldn't tell him what! I want to tell them now! My friend who is pregnant with DC2 wheedled it out of me by text yesterday, though, so I've already broken my promise!

salsarocks · 15/08/2010 09:22

Welcome Karoleann and takethatlady!

Sounds like you're in a similar boat to me Karoleann, 35 and a 4 year old and a 2 year old. Definitely feel more anxious and apprehensive too now the years have crept by.

Takethatlady - my DH also thinks he is now the most virile man to walk the planet. Our sex life went a bit off track for a while (10lb 8oz DS ripped me to shreds) and we were only getting back into regular bedroom action in the past few months so now he thinks he just has to look at me to conceive Blush

Not told anyone else yet. Planning on keeping quiet till 12 weeks but if history repeats itself DH will blab to his Mum and Dad next week and then will feel obliged to tell everyone else. Hope not though, DD ears prick up anytime babies are mentioned and wouldn't want to tell her too soon in case anything happened!

JustKeepSwimming · 15/08/2010 12:44

takethat - glad to see you here :)

Salsa & Karol - snap, 35 and 2 DC 4 & 2. Also feeling more tentative this time round, still spotting too which i would prefer to stop, please!

Have told a group of mum friends as had a pizza night & would normally have been knocking back the wine, haven't told anyone else in RL yet though.

Will tell PIL next week as they are coming to stay & again my lack of drinking will be obvious so best tell my parents around then too.

BeetleBaby · 15/08/2010 14:26

Hello everyone, hope you're all having a nice lazy Sunday!

takethatlady my DH seems to be of similar mindset to yours. He's currently referring to the baby as 'Hypoth', because, until he sees it on the screen at the scan and we know all is ok, as far as he's concerned it's a hypothetical baby. Typical scientist, can't get excited about things until he's seen more proof than a BFP and my boobs suddenly becoming huge! Hmm

We've agreed that we'll tell our parents after the scan, 13/14 weeks-ish. So far I've told one of my friends and we think some members of our wider social circle are getting suspicious as I've barely been out recently. I think work will be next up to tell as we've got some big events and busy weeks coming up and I don't want my manager to think I'm useless when my eyes start closing of their own accord at 3pm!

Still, I can't decide whether I want to yell it from the roof tops or keep it secret just incase anything happens Confused

Umanayana · 15/08/2010 17:20

Hello Ladies!

I am a very long term lurker on Mumsnet. I have finally plucked up the courage to start posting as I am very unexpectedly (but extremely happily) pregnant! I already have two gorgeous sons, 12 and nearly 10. I developed severe PCOS after having my second son and after obsessively TTC for over 8 years including several rounds of clomid and ovarian drilling I finally accepted about 6 months ago that we would be sticking with two children! And here I am!!!!!!

Absolutely terrified that something will go wrong after such a long time (DS2 will be 10 and a half and DS1 almost a teenager when DC3 arrives) but nausea has started in earnest and early scan next week so thought I would join you and try to start getting excited!

Due date according to Mumsnet is 11th April, not sure how to add myself to the list? I look forward to getting to know you all x

kitstwins · 15/08/2010 19:00

mummywitha1 I'm so sorry about your news.

Gosh the list is filling up. I'm another London person (SW). Feeling knackered and drained but no appetite which is a bit odd. I've also had on-off bleeding so am not 100% confident about my scan on Wednesday. Bras are massively tight though (as if they've shrunk) which could be a good sign. Have told my daughters, who will be 4 1/2 by the time this baby arrives so am kidding myself they'll be non-jealous paragons of helpfulness. I am deluded on every score! Main hope is that the single embryo doesn't split. Having 'done' twins once I really fancy the relative ease of a singleton but I'm painfully aware of the 'God laughs whilst we make plans' angle to my life so far. Eeeeek!!

Last time at this stage I was in a froth of dreamy excitement. Now I'm just haggard and crapping myself at the prospect of three children. Have moments if cold-sweat 'what have we DONE' but I guess/hope this is normal?

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 15/08/2010 20:07

Hi ladies :) Welcome to the new arrivals!

I've had some more spotting over the weekend so I'm going to ring the GP tomorrow and ask for a scan. Fingers crossed for everyone else who is having an early scan this week!

Kitswins, let's hope the bleeding was nothing to worry about, fingers crossed for your scan!

Two things this pregnancy has made me very aware of so far: 1) my bladder, which I can fell most of the time even when not actually needing the toilet 2) my addiction to caffeine. Turns out pretty much everything I like to drink in large quantities (coffee, green tea, diet coke, Guaraná)contains too much caffeine for a pregnant lady. I always knew I had a coffee problem, but I did not know it extended to virtually every drink I like.

I think I need to go to bed, as I have fallen asleep over my book twice already despite having had a very relaxing day... zzzzzzzzzzz

gormers · 15/08/2010 20:44

Weaned myself off caffeine earlier this week and got such bad headaches in the process! Am now through it and out the other side, and now don't want to touch any caffeine as I can't bear to detox off it again!! I'm sure my DH couldn't bear mr to go through it either!

I used to have such a big pepsi max habit; but none for a week now. That's the longest time ever!! Wish anyone else who wants to give up the caffeine loads of luck!! And paracetamol!

Karoleann · 15/08/2010 21:18

Wow - three of us 35 with a 4 and 2 year old!
I'm a london person too - NW6.
I've told my parents and brothers as we have a family do next week and they'll guess and not drinking, have no intention of giving up caffine though!
