LOL at thought of someone having sex whilst in labour Grin

beckie90 · 19/10/2010 15:21

hiya ladies.

just asking a question here as no1 explained to me when i would get my downs results.
had my scan and bloods on the 6th of october so how long would it normally take for the results to come?

caramellokoalalover · 19/10/2010 15:31

beckie I think it varies massively area to area. At the hospital I'm at they give them to you on the day, but I know friends who waited 2 weeks for the bloods to come back. Can you give your midwife/antenatal dept a call to check?

JustKeepSwimming · 19/10/2010 15:51

Re feeling movements; i've been feeling something since about 12.5weeks. Very early i know and i wasn't convinced to start with but it's definitely there.
Was much later with DS1 and a bit later with DS2.

Re sex; well tbh i'm not in the mood at all atm Blush

we did it the night before i went into labour with DS1 and possibly DS2 (can't remember!) so i was obv in the mood by the end!

ecuse · 19/10/2010 16:00

beckie I had my scan on 8th October, just got a letter through yesterday (Hackney)

frakkinstein · 19/10/2010 16:06

I can't stand the thought of having sex at the moment. Even DH touching me/cuddling seems to crowd my personal space. I'm finding it really hard to get my head round the fact I'm sharing my body with another human....

beckie90 · 19/10/2010 16:12

ahh thankyou i suppose it depends what area then. my cousin had her scan 4th and still hasnt recieved it so must take a while here. my scan would be 2 weeks ago tomorow i had it. im getting impatient lol

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 19/10/2010 16:34

Hi ladies, I have been lurking on here for a while and I have finally decided to show my face [hsmile]

I'm due on the 29th April and I had my 12 week scan last week and saw my mw again today.

This will be my 3rd baby. DS1 died when he was 15 months old and we miss him so very much, and ds2 has recently turned two and is a complete delight - the majority of the time!

The morning sickness has started to get better and I'm now able to cook meals from scratch rather than rely on vile ready meals.

I am very hormonal and cry at everything. Imagine by John Lennon was on the radio this mmorning and I cried at that for no particular reason [hblush]

Fingers crossed this baby will be born at home, just like ds2. DS1 was a section, so most of the medical establishment like to call me high risk, but they can stick that label up their arses!

I'm now off to read some of the posts and get to know you all!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 19/10/2010 16:36

Oh yes, and I forgot to mention that I felt some fluttering last week - I put it down to having very slack muscles!!

beckie90 · 19/10/2010 16:40

hi and welcome iliketomoveit.
and so sorry about your little boy that must have been so horrible for you.
congrats on your pregnancy

Cyclebump · 19/10/2010 16:43

I've been feeling what I think is the baby since I was 14 weeks. DP keep sighing and muttering 'It's probably wind' but it doesn't feel exactly like wind, it's a bit like being stroked from the inside.

JustKeepSwimming · 19/10/2010 16:46

ILikeToMoveIt - welcome :) SO sorry to hear aout your DS1 :( I had a HB with DS1, then an emc-s with DS2 but hoping for another HB with this baby. Sure the establishment will have too much something to say about it, but like you i have a normal birth under my belt so reckon they can shove orf!

Hormonal? me? not at all....err! cry at everything & anything & nothing!

Cyclebump · 19/10/2010 17:19

A friend had a wonderful gas and air only VBAC experience with her DD2 after an absolutely horrendous emcs with DD1.

She did go to hospital but laboured at home until she was 9cm, she swears by hypno techniques.

lucielooo · 19/10/2010 17:26

caramellokoalalover am I being dim.. back to back??

Same as several of you, I've been feeling completely of anything physical up till now (15 weeks) but pleased to say my libido seems to be coming back. Been feeling sorry for DP as I think he's been feeling that I've only been interested in sex to get pregnant and now there's no need.. but it's not that! It's taken a while to start thinking of my body in the same way as normal when you're so focused on what's growing inside it.. I've been feeling very protective of it! Anyway, libido seems to be coming back which is great news! (especially for what's been a rather grumpy DP)

And I also thought I felt the baby move over the last few days. It's felt a bit like a little flutter on the inside (almost like when you get a twitch in your eyelid but on the inside of lower tummy and a bit fainter if anyone knows what I mean.. sure someone will be along soon to tell me it's wind!!)

Congratulations on your pregnancy Iliketomoveit and so sorry to hear about your DS

kittycatcat · 19/10/2010 17:58

Welcome Iliketomoveit and v sorry to hear about your ds1 x

caramellokoalalover · 19/10/2010 18:03

He he he lucieloo Grin, am PMSL that I wrote that! What a mistake! No, not back to back, that would be VERY gentle indeed! Your partner's chest right up flat against your back!

I'd only just felt like getting back into the game on the weekend too, before that I either felt too sick or too tired or was just plain weirded out by sex for some reason. I'll now have to find a way to convince DH that he won't hurt the baby as my libido is back!

LisMcA · 19/10/2010 19:35

Ladies, I need your help finding maternity clothes. In RL I'm 5ft normally a size 16 so usually can buy clothes, specifically trousers in the petite sections. Now I'm pregnant I cant find petite mat. clothes. I've bought a pair of jeans from Next Directory in regular length thinking they might not be too long, but they are a good 6 inches too long.

Is there anywhere, online, mail order dodgy stall on a market that you can think of?

I am beginning to hate leggings :o and cannot go through the next 6 months wearing them day and night!!

hippy3 · 19/10/2010 20:59

Hi!! Sorry have been away for a few days.

Muffinmouse bet that was awful for you to go through, im not surprised you were no help to anyone and a mess. I would have been exactly the same.

There seems to be so much to catch up on on here and its only been a few days ! Grin

Had my NT results back, I am very low risk. THANK GOD Smile. was panicking about it, after being told it was twins and everything that can go wrong with the pregnancy becasue they are identical.. we were concerned about the results but they came back fine the measurment was 1.4 mm. So the stats are 1: 11,900 or something..although how the hell they came up with that number ive no idea. Hmm

Have been informed that i have another scan in two weeks. Am being scanned every two weeks from here on in...to make sure the they are growing properly, and checking me for TTS
but i refuse to believe that anything is going to go wrong. Just trying to stay calm and happy !

iliketomoveit so sorry to hear about your DC i cant imagine what that must have been like Sad. i feel this overwhelming sense of protection before they are even born. ! am delighted that youve good news now though.

I told my boss on monday and they didnt freak out like I thought they would and infact my senior practioner said that there was no reason why I couldnt work up until i was ready to leave..which is a little weight off our minds! and i seem to not have been sick over the last few days, but dont want to gloat incase it knocks me for six tomorrow, fingers crossed!

Ive no other news... well not baby related anyway. will be checking on here daily so im up to date with all the news!

1stTimeMother · 19/10/2010 21:43

welcome ILiketoMoveItMoveIt and so great for everyone who's feeling movement already, I really can't wait for that.

Slightly panicking as found out tonight that my extreme sickness last week was due to the fact that I've somehow picked up e-coli!!!!! Am definitely improving, but now have no clue what's still pregnancy-related and what's actual residual illness. SO bored of it and really, really need some energy back now. 13+4 now so hoping the end is nigh and next week sees me bouncing around. Headaches are worse as well - think I'm going to try the 4head next! Am I the only one who's not feeling excited yet?!?!

oh and absolutely no libido either...

MrsWajs · 20/10/2010 01:21

Glad I wasn't the only one a bit confused lucie was having visions of back to back sex and wasn't really sure how it was gonna work!!

I've been off it for the last 13 weeks also but seems to be creeping back a little this week. Never really had a super duper libido anyway but did put in a lot more effort for TTC - poor DP he must be so confused

I've tried 4head for headaches also and have to say it didn't do much for me, neither did paracetamol. I've always been a brufen kinda girl and was none too pleased that I had to wait for the headache to pass (took 2 days :()

Zidonie · 20/10/2010 10:22

1stTimeMother, how unlucky, I hope you get better soon.

Anyone on Facebook notice that they get ads targeted to pregnant women?? How on earth does FB know I'm pregnant? I didn't make an anouncement on there. Am starting to wonder if someone in FB headquarters goes through my post!! Or is it just a coincindence?... Anyway, scary.

Cyclebump · 20/10/2010 12:40

My excitement comes and goes 1sttimemother. What's annoying is everyone assuming I'll be bubbling over all the time so I've been asked 'Why aren't you excited?!' loads and it's really irritating.

I'm finding it very heavy going at the moment. Am about to leave work early after nearly passing out at work, my hips really hurt and I just feel miserable. Eugh. The glamour.

Thaney · 20/10/2010 12:58

Zidonie, FB started with the baby ads for me as soon as I changed my relationship status to married.

kittycatcat · 20/10/2010 13:17

Hey peeps i think we only have 25 messages to go til the thread is full up. Anyone want to start a new thread? What shall we call it? Stick with the same name?
