Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MuffinMouse · 02/10/2010 08:07

Chessy - I am 10 weeks and look 20 weeks. I look like I've put on a stone, mainly bust and belly. Last time I put on 3.5st with DD1 and 2.5st with DS2. But, amazingly had lost all by 6 months each time - breastfeeding and gentle walking, despite lots of cake, did the trick. I think your body just does what it needs to. I wish I had those lithe pregnancies, all long slim limbs and contained bump. But I just turn into mitchellin women.

I am waking up most nights at around 4am and can't get back to sleep. Is anyone else doing the same?? I thought poor sleep was a third trimester thing..

JustKeepSwimming · 02/10/2010 11:27

Muffin - i just wake up all the time. last night was 12, 2, 4 (wee), 6ish then 7 with DS1.

I also look like i've put on loads of weight but the scales say just a few pounds. If i wear certain mat clothes i look several months further ahead, get lots of comments Blush
oh well, had bloods taken yesterday, scan next thurs, just waiting for that now.

Liv77 · 02/10/2010 18:36

14 weeks today Smile Stomach looks bigger to me but most of my clothes still fit fine. I guess it's because i'm not worried about my size now as I can just blame it on being PG.
I'm currently eating Twiglets like their going out of fashion and Seaweed Peanuts, i'm kidding myself that as they come from the health food shop they must be good for me.

I always crave vinegar things when I'm Pg. I had a cheese and pickled onion sandwich for lunch today but it wasn't tangy enough so I added a packet of salt and vinegar crisps to it Blush. I had some fruit after to make myself feel less of a glutton. Grin

beckie90 · 02/10/2010 19:26

aww congrats ladybird10 how lovely.

I hadn't realised how much it'd been on my mind until I found myself feeling so relaxed afterwards. Grin

Which meant .... I was able to tell my father and our 4 year old son today - both were delighted, although I've then had constant questions from DS1 about what's happening with the baby, when it will come out, how it will come out Smile and why it can't come in the car with us in case it has a smelly nappy - apparently it will either need to travel in the boot or on a roof rack Shock

Has anyone else gone through the phase of explaining the whys and wherefores of the new baby to their children? Any good books out there or other tips?

Hope all's well with everyone.

stuffedmk · 04/10/2010 10:08

DH looked at me the other day and said "you look way more pregnant than you are!" I suspect a fair bit of the bump is food rather than baby but I shall revel in looking up the duff....it is highly likely to be the last time so I may as well make the most of it...it's much better to look prego than fat Wink

I have just bought some pregnancy yoga and exercise dvds off ebay and am eagerly awaiting them so I can get started. I have been trying to find aquanatal classes but am having trouble finding one that is at a decent time. There is one that is early evening which is out of the question as DH won't be home to look after DS. And there is a pool that does a couple of sessions a week both at silly times...one starts at 9.30am which is really difficult as I have to get DS to school then get to the pool and be changed and ready by then Confused The other class finishes at 2.30pm so at the other end of the school day. Why they couldn't do the classes half an hour different each way I don't know, and that is still excluding women who work Hmm

JustKeepSwimming · 04/10/2010 10:14

Stuffedmk - it is so annoying. Our nearest place is over half an hour drive away so a bit of a no-go really. Though a new pool s due to open any day and i'm hopeful it'll have some decently-timed aqua natal.
I have a yoga dvd that i hardly used before, now i'm worried to do it as it nearly all involves sitting cross-legged and i'm trying to avoid that (SPD last time).

Really counting the days til Thurs, Karuna - congrats on a good scan, i can't wait to confirm all is ok, oh and that there's just one in there too lol :)

Cyclebump · 04/10/2010 10:53

Ok, am only 14 weeks but I swear I felt a weird bubbly sensation tin the right place. It's like gas but not and has happened a couple of times this morning.

My mum felt us move at around this time. Could it be the baby?

stuffedmk · 04/10/2010 11:52

I have been feeling similar feelings from about 12 weeks, I think it's baby but I can't be 100% I'll just be glad when I get really obvious movement.

stuffedmk · 04/10/2010 12:01

I'm toying with getting a doppler to keep me going until I can definitely feel bubba. I just worry that it would be fueling my paranoia rather than making myself chill out.
I know there are mixed feelings on them, and I am trying to tell myself I really don't need to waste the money, but I suspect I will end up spending out lol.

Cyclebump · 04/10/2010 13:10

A doppler would make me more paranoid I reckon. Having spoken to my mum about location of fluttery bubbles and their weirdness and she reckons it could have been the bebe. Hmmmm

1stTimeMother · 04/10/2010 14:08

afternoon all - great to hear that good scans are coming in! I am waiting to hear date for mine - will then hopefully relax and know there's actually something in there that's ok. Also keeping everything crossed that sickness does start to fade soon... 12 weeks friday, surely glow-time is round the corner!!??!

MuffinMouse · 04/10/2010 14:18

Cyclebump - I felt DS2 at 14 weeks. DD1 at 17 weeks, so IMO it is possible1

Cyclebump · 04/10/2010 15:01

1sttimemother - my sickness is now almost gone at 14 weeks (only the sudden occasional bout when you least expect it). Plus my energy suddenly returned last week at 13 weeks. Hopefully your will soon too.

MuffinMouse - Here's hoping!

JustKeepSwimming · 04/10/2010 15:44

I'm 12 weeks now and most yucky feelings have gone, still get bad headaches and still easily tired though. Waiting for burst of energy Hmm

Also not needing to wee as much in the night which is good - while it lasts!

hippy3 · 04/10/2010 17:32

sympathy please

I was gloating a bit last week, as I was feeling great however this weekend has been a bad weekend and today I actually had to take the day off work. I was hugging the toilet at 6 am this morning, and then again at 3 this afternoon.
I have had a headache all day, am a nice yellow colour and look like I havent slept.

Am just hoping that I am ok to go in tomorrow. This is the first time ive been actually sick... although have been feeling nauceous on and off for a while. I am now 10+2 days. My scan is on the 14th and really just want to feel normal again.... Hmm

congratulations everyone on your scans...x Smile great news.

youngblowfish · 04/10/2010 19:23

Oh, hippy, hope you feel better soon. Just make sure you get plenty of rest, it is the only thing that really helps me.

JKS, Cyclebump, so good to hear that there is an end in sight to the sickness and exhaustion ? I have been run down for so long now, I really can?t wait for my energy to come back. I have been feeling little flutters and bubbles in all the right places as well, but, as I am also quite convinced I am having twins, I am still reluctant to believe my body and suspect my pregnant brain is playing tricks on me.

1stTimeMother, I can?t be sure, but I think it is quite unusual to still be waiting for a date for your scan at this stage ? maybe you can contact your GP? I am only suggesting that, because my own referral to the antenatal clinic got lost and I was nowhere on their records ? until I started worrying at 10+4, phoned them up and had it arranged then. This is only really relevant if you are planning on having the nuchal scan at the same time, as it should be done between 11 and 13 weeks AFAIK.

At 12+1, AIBU to be expecting to glow right now? Grin Hope everyone is doing well!

salsarocks · 04/10/2010 20:03

Finally got my scan date in the post today. It's this Wednesday afternoon - I'll be 12+5 so not bad timing. Just got to find someone to look after kids at such short notice! Been feeling movement since 10 weeks which is really nice since didn't feel anything with DD until 20 weeks. Think its just because i know what it feels like - all description of bubble sensations spot on!

Ladybird10 · 04/10/2010 22:28

Hope your scan goes well on Wed Beckie, it really was amazing.
My 20 wk scan is booked for 22nd Nov, how exciting!

I'm so happy my sickness has finally gone, apart from the occasional nausea if i haven't eaten.
I'm sleeping awful most nights, tossing and turning all the time and painful hips, definatly thinking about getting a pregnancy pillow.

Sunshine28 · 04/10/2010 23:39

Sunshine, you poor thing. I'm so sorry that you have had to go through such a heartbreaking time. Wishing you all the very best in the future x

Hi all,
Sorry i've not been about much but have been away on work and only just back.

Lovely to see so many newbies!!

Got the combined result of my nuchal fold & bloods whilst i was away and have a low risk 1:26000. Quite strange as in my last pg i was 1:20000.

Looking huge here as well and no hiding for me no matter what i wear!

Sorry somne of you are having a hard time with bosses..

Still feeling a bit bleugh but it does seem to be easing ever so slightly

kittycatcat · 05/10/2010 10:47

So sorry sunshine:(

Hippy our scans are on the same day :)

JoEW · 05/10/2010 11:22

So sorry to hear your news sunshine28, I really hope you get through everything ok, I can't imagine how you must be feeling. Lots of luck for the future and sure you will have happy news around the corner.

Aprilmeadow I also think I might be feeling a bit better. Haven't felt too sick for a couple of days but also seem to be getting a bit of energy back - which would be so, so nice. DH is being a star but I can tell he's wondering where on earth the woman he married has gone.

Got my scan tomorrow and am a mix of excitement and nerves. Looking forward to it but also looking forward to it being over and another landmark reached. Fingers crossed all ok. Good luck for others with their scans tomorrow, there are three of us I think!

Told my parents the news at the weekend and they were so sweet. Mum welled up and dad has already decided he's going to be known as 'grumps'. Suits him perfectly, he's a right Victor Meldrew.

JustKeepSwimming · 05/10/2010 12:44

Sunshine :( take care of yourself.

salsarocks · 05/10/2010 14:23

Sunshine, thinking of you and your DP. Really sorry to hear your news.
