Just got a BFP. According to calculator am due April 2nd 2011...

Hello! Can I join? My EDD is 26 April but haven't dating scan yet. I am already enormous and had my first comment at work today from colleague (I hear you are pregnant). Was gobsmacked. Wriggled out of it with a joke about choc addiction. Felt bad but not ready to share until after scans. Had three previous mc. (This will be DC3).

Glad the scan went well lowra mine is 2 weeks today. Argh.

Sloathy what a cow! Big hugs to you, and ew to sardines also. I think i would go to HR and say she wasnt very proffessional.

Jaylar wtf re your boss! Just as well you could laugh really. Think my lot are expecting it. My bitch boss actually asked when i got back from honeymoon in June if i had my period yet. I was stunned. I told her yes on honeymoon! Then she said you know you have to have sex to get pregnant, its just couples forget when they have been together a long time. She obv thought it was funny. I did not. Doesnt help that i cant stand her anyway!

MuffinMouse - I've had that too.. there's pregnancy-watch the whole time in our office and people aren't afraid to ask outright..! I've said about this before but I find it so odd! Surely people must realise that you'll tell people when you want to? Well done for getting out of it and not feeling pressured into telling them before you're ready.

Hi all,
It's amazing how many stories there are about bosses reacting badly to the news. Honestly, you would think we were all still living in the 1980s! I am very lucky in that my boss is based in SA so I didn't have to do too much hiding in the early days. The other girls in the office clocked instantly that I was pregant because I started drinking decaf tea. I told them at about 7 weeks but we're a really small and close team so it wasn't a nightmare.

I did have to tell my boss at eight weeks as I was out in SA with her for a week and we work in the wine industry. It was just too hard not to. She did say 'but I thought you didn't want children' to which I just replied, 'well, I changed my mind' and she was cool about it. Stand you ground everyone. We are entitled to go on maternity leave, we're entitled to have time off and we're entitled to keep out jobs (appreciate those on contracts have a tougher time). So there!

Right, off to burn my bra now.

I'm off to buy a new bra now (not cos i burnt the old one, it's too small and the wire fell out) lol.

The work thing's tricky. I found out I was pg after being sold to a new company and was worried about telling them. They've not been touchy feely but have been quite supportive despite the circumstances (they have to carry over my continuity of service and maternity leave entitlement from previous company so paid for a pregnant employee whose right arm was broken when we moved companies as well).

There's just no need for bosses to get arsy imo.

Really sad to hear all these work stories. My team hasn't been too bad in comparison. But work's a bit light these days and its giving me too much time to think, which is probably not a very good idea.

NT scan was good - really pleased to see baby wriggling around.

But the excitement seems to have worn off. Have been feeling a bit too depressed lately. Very vulnerable, easily succumb to tears and finding it difficult to stay happy. Have just been passed over for a promotion at work and feeling bad about it. I know, a lot of people have said that motherhood is the biggest promotion in life, but it still sucks to be passed over. :(

DH is also going through some changes in life and not able to help with my bad mood. I wish i could cheer up a little.

Is anyone facing anything similar? Any suggestions to lift off the cloud????

How do I get my name on the list?! I am hopefully due on 17th April, got my dating scan and nuchal test a week today. At the moment trying not to get too excited, Mumsnet has alerted me to the perils so am being pragmatic (ridiculously pessimistic?). I think I am a worrier by nature, even though I am trying to be serene and earth-mother-like. I think both DH and myself will be a lot cheerier once we have confirmed there is something actually in there! Anyone else feel like something is tugging at their belly button from the inside? Is it the umbilical cord doing something?

Hello, I'm new as well! According to LMP dates I'm due Easter weekend (23rd / 24th) but haven't had dating scan yet. Bit of a backlog at the midwife unit so I've only just been booked in and am now waiting for a date for the scan.

Can you add me to the list please? This will be our first baby and after a very early mc a couple of months ago we have everything crossed!

Doesn't seem real yet (except for the exhaustion, nausea and mood swings!). I work full time as well but am an employment lawyer so will be making sure I get all I'm entitled to!

crazymiracle - I know what you mean and I don't think it helps when you know you should be feeling happy and excited! I think a lot of it for me has been to do with tiredness so I've been getting early nights and being a lazy slob while DH does all the jobs (not that that helps with the guilt!).

As a side effect of the lazy slobbing and eating when hungry regime, I've put on a stone already (and am not exactly a whippet at the best of times!). Has anyone else put on weight? According to my books, I shouldn't be putting much weight on until 20 weeks?!!

Thanks for adding me to the enormous list, I'm going to have to start buying up equipment and clothing before the rest of you get there first! chessy, welcome! I'm not sure if I've put on any weight to be honest, I'm quite short and normally hover around the 11 stone mark so tend to avoid scales! The midwife didn't weigh me or look aghast or anything, was expecting a bit of a telling off. As half of my calorie allowance used to come from wine, I think my daily kitkat habit is offset, and I'm just looking a bit rounder of face (and was no prominent cheek-boned goddess to start with unfortunately). I think as long as you feel healthy, I wouldn't worry. Bit concerned my sugar intake will lead to an enormous baby, like the marshmallow man in Ghostbusters, but not sure how one knows, I guess future blood tests will give me guidance. My body seems pretty good at telling me to back off coffee and wine though, so I'm trusting it to scrutinise and veto the kitkats if not good for babybean.

Hello to all the newbies! Haven't been on for ages but have been lurking!

chessy I have put on 4lbs according to my scales but I definitely look like I've put on a stone! Have also gone up two bra sizes already so god knows what I'll be like once my milk comes in!!!

My diet is still horrendous aswell, resulting in horrid constipation (TMI) :(
And to top it all last night and the night before I could not sleep for love nor money!!

Afternoon All!

Woooo! It's friday and I survived OFSTED!! (still very ranty about how unscientific and ridiculous the whole inspection and reporting is. I've been trying to get the department to help me write an expose for the papers today, somehow don't think I'll get round to it!

I'm also 15 weeks today, and feeling pretty good (though that could be the delerium). Even forgot and started jumping up & down when the final bell went this avo in celebration of the end of the ofsted nightmare. Till my colleague, jumping with me, reminded me to calm down!

AND we finally got the keys to our new house this week! It's all amazing!

So, I think I've got to register with the new doctor and book another mw appointment.

But that can wait - it's tv & sleep time for me now!

sparkly wine i to for some reason am convinced that I am going to go for my scan in 13 days and nothing is going too be there!!!. I am normally so pragmatic... just want to know everything is as it should be.

i am delighted its friday have no plans for this weekend and part of me is hoping the weather stays like this it gives me an excuse not to go out on the hike i promised my DP i would go on.

petalouda woohoo that OFSTED is over, I've been there and understand the relief it have it behind you. And such good news you're feeling good too.

I'm exactly the same as you MrsW - scales say 4lbs but mirror (and clothes) say a stone. Feeling so pudgy. Bleurgh. Am eating a shitload of crap daily though so don't know what I expected?!

Sloathy that is terrible about your boss, but don't let it get you down, some people can be such bitches, this should be a really happy time for you so hold your head up high and be proud to be pregnant.

Chessy i've only put on about 3lbs, my body looks the same except for my belly sticking out, i have a small bump :) Apparently the norm is 1 - 1 1/2 stone weight gain by the end of pg. I must admit i'm eating what ever i fancy and not worrying about it, before pg i used to watch what i would eat.

Well i had my scan on Wed and it was amazing, so nice to see our baby, can't wait for the 20wk scan now. I feel i can relax more now i know he/she is ok :) My work colleagues were so happy for me which is nice.

I am also eating whatever, and was on Weight watchers for about 2 years before that. So i have a bump but i reckon its as much food as baby!

I have had to come in to work today but i will get time off for it which i intend on using during the tube strikes if they are still going on when i am too big to walk far.
