disneystar1 · 02/08/2010 10:44

yes 8 lol i still dont know so testing today im soooo nervous ...congrats on your bfp

NotAnotherNewNappy · 02/08/2010 14:58

Petalouda - I know what you mean, I feel like reaching for the medicine cabinet too. One of the things that made me do a test was I woke up after a totally booze free evening feeling like I had a hangover from hell - headachey, sore muscles, completely knackered and, erm, craving a McDonalds. I didn't twig until half way through the morning that I hadn't had a drop to drink the night before!

Osch - So sorry to hear you lost a baby HUGE congratulations on your BFP !!

disneystar1 - eight?! And I'm here wondering how I'm going to cope with two!

Petalouda · 02/08/2010 15:09

Thanks all,
cramping wore off during this morning, but now have a monster headache!

I knew there was a painful bit at the end, but no-one told me it would be so uncomfortable from the outset!

Ulysses · 02/08/2010 15:10

Hello again Ladies

I'm not supposed to be here, thought I had a doctors appointment about the pregnancy but it turns out I was an hour early

I was going to say I didn't have any symptoms but can now add ditziness, as well as an extreme wave of tiredness which has crept up on me this afternoon.

Really want to say hello to everyone, but am too much of the above to organise things at the minute to do a proper roll call. Good luck to all the April ladies so far, and for those that are doing tests keeping my fingers crossed!

Way to docs in a bit. Can't even remember what they do at this visit. Surely I am not going to get any worse than this!!!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 02/08/2010 17:43

EDD 9th April.

Have just namechanged as DH and a few people from RL who are on my FB and are also MNers know my nickname, so hopefully less chance of spotting me in here

Got a faint BFP this morning!

nitnat84 · 03/08/2010 07:16

Snowfalls- I remember you from the september thread 2009! Looks like we are both expecting with our little ones only being 10 months old! I am a little confused with dates as well. Still haven't contacted doc or maternity unit.
Exciting but scary times.

disneystar1 · 03/08/2010 09:24

sorry guys ive got to leave im sad but thats life i wish you all well and hope you have happy healthy pregnancies and bubbas xx

KaraStarbuckThrace · 03/08/2010 12:47

Sorry Disney

I had a tiny bleed this morning but I hope think it is just implantation bleeding, had it when I was pg with DS.

Ulysses · 03/08/2010 13:07

Sorry to hear that Disneystar1. I'm sure you'll be back on tohe a-n boards soon enough.

BeetleBaby · 04/08/2010 08:44

I'm tentatively joining the April thread!

Got BFP on Saturday morning (after a barely-visible-thought-it-was-a-trick-of-the-light line on Friday evening).

We were taking the well if it happens it happens approach, thinking nothing would happen, and we would start trying properly Jan/Feb time, guess Mother Nature decided differently!

If this is all real (and I still can't believe it though the exhaustion, food cravings and nausea feel flippin' real!) it will be our first. I'm 24 and lots of my friends from school have 2+ kids already so feel like I'm naive to it all compared with them, where as where we now live they all think I'm odd for getting married at 23. A baby at 24 will definitely be going against the norm!

Anyway, to the doctors tomorrow to see what they say!

Haven't put in how many DCs people have as my brain just couldn't cope lol, feel free to add extra details if you want.

I am driving myself nuts worrying about every little twinge after a MC at 10+4 a few months ago. Trying to be positive but it really isn't working.

Can't believe how many of us are on here already! I never joined an antenatal thread last time and I thought I was a bit of a keeno for looking for one so soon this time. But I am a super keeno - I bought a double buggy yesterday! I had to, my local charity shop had a bargain 2nd hand P&T.

So sorry you lost a baby I am terrified every time I go to the loo in case I have started to MC.

Petalouda · 04/08/2010 19:24

Hey BeetleBaby! Glad there's another first timer here!

I know what you mean about the old/young paradox, I'm 29 and was the first in our group of friends to get married, and as far as I know, am the first preggo one!

My little sis, who still lives in the village where we grew up (and where, at age 18 they asked her why she wanted the implant, and wasn't she thinking about starting a family soon - and that was the local GP!), is expecting her first at 25 (she's way ahead at 23 weeks, and is not the first in her peer group.

We're off to the doc's tomorrow to see what they say. It's been a week since we tested, and I've gone through the 'oh sh*t, maybe AF will come anyway' all the way to the knicker-checking at every wee and becoming concerned when I don't feel sick! I'm really scared about telling work (I'm a teacher, so glad I've got this time for it to sink in!), they only just gave me a perm contract, and my manager pretty much told me it was a case of take-a-ticket-and-wait-your-turn in terms of maternity leave in our mostly-female department.

And like you, BeetleBaby we thought we'd start relaxing about things a little, and then start trying properly about February time. Then, not 6 hours after deciding this, Bingo! And I thought I'd be too decrepid for this to happen so soon!

Still, it'll be a bit tight, financially, and work are going to hate me, but we're excited!

Thanks for the list Stuffedmk!

How's everyone else doing? I'd be interested to see what kind of symptoms people are having (mainly to see if I'm "normal"!).

BeetleBaby · 04/08/2010 20:16

Petalouda the village you grew up in sounds similar to where I grew up, though that was a Northern council estate!

Telling work will be interesting for me too. I work in HE admissions and if all goes well I'll be going on maternity leave about two months after my line manager gets back from her maternity leave Though I doubt I'll take 12 months off (wish I could) but as DH's job will be based in the South for the next couple of years we'll be walking a fine line financially too. I doubt it'd matter when we have kids, we'll always feel slightly short on pennies but then my parents raised 4 kids on less so I try not to stress.

Symptoms so Far
Lots of feeling sick but not actually being sick.
Total exhaustion, (I'm on holiday from work this week and have been taking advantage by having naps!)
Completely off chocolate makes me feel sicky at the thought of eating it
Headaches
Dizziness
Feeling the need to pee, a lot

I also keep getting aches in my lower abdomen, like a mild stitch or v.mild period pains. I think these are 'stretching' pains according to the google searches I've done. Doesn't stop me succumbing to paranoia and checking my pants everytime I'm in the loo (which is a lot, see above!)

Whew, that's an epic reply! I second the thanks for the list and I'll hopefully be able to update with an edd tomorrow

Petalouda · 04/08/2010 20:26

Thanks for the symptoms BeetleBaby,

I've been feeling sick on & off since saturday, but getting better (which worries me!)
I had headaches saturday-monday.
I've been off chocolate for weeks (which really should have alerted me earlier, who ever heard of PMS without wanting chocolate?!)
And the cramps.

But I haven't had the weeing, or the complete exhaustion - although I'm almost narcoleptic after lunch and about 3pm, but that's not entirely new!

Slightly worried that the doc'll tell me I'm mad for thinking I'm pregnant tomorrow. DH suggested I POAS again, but I don't want it to be negative! I think I need to get it together - time for dinner!

silkenwings · 05/08/2010 11:12

hi everyone,

Found out two days back that I am pregnant with an EDD of 9th April '11. Joined the forum today and am a first time mum-to-be so very very nervous and excited.

so far, its been a mini roller coaster with full blown nausea for the first two days, no appetite and going to bed at 9, but everything seems to have miraculously disappeared today! Hoping the rest of it will be as smooth sailing as today, but that's prolly asking for too much, eh?

DH is currently being very about it all

Petalouda · 05/08/2010 12:13

Hey silken! another first timer!

Hope you're feeling better today

Ulysses · 05/08/2010 14:22

Hello Petalouda, silkenwings, BeetleBaby, NotAnotherNewNappy, stuffedmk, osch and all the other lovely April ladies

I'm still in a bit of a daze and can't believe that I'm now 5 weeks pregnant today. Symptom wise similar to BeetleBaby, general feeling of queasiness (sp?) headaches and constant peeing.

Am also constipated despite my now addiction to soft fruit. Am also off coffee completely, which is a turnaround.

Am pretty obsessed by it all as well. Hate having to keep it to myself for now, and feel like I am in a bubble.

Saw the docs Monday but feel it will be ages before anything happens wrt to appointment, scans and so on.

BeetleBaby · 05/08/2010 17:20

Hey everyone,

Hope everyone is ok today

Went to the docs today and was given lots of paperwork to read but was also given my 'official' edd, and so have updated the list:

oska, edd end March
Alibabaandthe40nappies, edd 28/29th March
livviloo, edd 1/2 April
Petalouda, edd 2nd April
nuttysquirrel, edd 4th April
stuffedmk, edd 6th April
kitstwins, edd 7th April
Ulysses, edd 7th April
KaraStarbuckThrace, edd 9th April
Osch, edd 10th April
dasha, edd mid April
NotAnotherNewNappy, 6th April (1 DD, she'll be 2yr 7mo by my edd)
Snowfalls108, edd?
BeetleBaby, edd: 31 March/1 April

DH came with me and I think he found it a little anti-climatic as there was no prodding of my tummy or blood test!

Today I've not been so bad with the feeling sick, though my emotions are completely bananas! I ended up in tears because the film we wanted to see wasn't playing at the nearest cinema! Will be interesting when I'm back at work next week and dealing with the public again

Petalouda · 05/08/2010 18:31

I'm just back from seeing the doc.

I was given an edd window from 28th march-2nd april due to my varying cycle length!

No masses of paperwork though, just a booklet about screening and an appointment with the midwife for 2nd September! I'll be about 10 weeks by then!

Apparently the local midwife is only available for about an hour and a half every fortnight.

Very anticlimactic.

NotAnotherNewNappy · 05/08/2010 20:27

Evening everybody.

Sorry you're all feeling sick. I got some crystalised ginger from Holland & Barratt last time, it tastes so wierd the shock of it makes you forget you're nauseous. Peppermint tea is quite good too.

I wretched on the way to work this morning but then found I was fine as long as I continuously ate all day

It's my head that's shot to pieces. I have been on the phone to the IT helpdesk all day at work as I thought the computer had lost all my files. Picked up my handbag to go home and discovered my laptop in it. No wonder my files weren't on the one I was working on, it wasn't mine!

Also - I called my best friend on her birthday and forgot to wish her happy Birthday.

And I keep forgetting to make an appt at the docs...

Thaney · 05/08/2010 22:33

Hi All

I think my edd is 8th April. This is my first time. Feeling very excited but apprehensive!

ihaveaplan · 06/08/2010 06:45

EDD 10th April here, apparently! Also my first.

I got a very faint BFP this morning so I'm being a bit tentative about it.

No nausea though Hmm At least I don't think so. I got weird AF type cramps yesterday which didn't result in anything so I tested... I have been having insomnia (most unlike me) and very vivid dreams though.

I'm shit scared about telling work. Have just accepted a new job in HE to start in September and desperately hoping I can get all my teaching hours in before ML starts!

KST - fab name, I'm another BSG fan! In fact my regular name is BSG inspired (and if you know me from that please don't out me!).

silkenwings · 06/08/2010 10:38

Hi All,

Hope you are having a good morning so far, I spent a lot of time on the train into work hoping that I wont be sick... I wasn't Smile

Cannot believe I am 5 weeks in, still not used to the idea and I don't think I will until I grow a bump.

Went to the doc y'day and chose my hospital for him to refer me to (ESH), found it all very surreal. Didnt get any leaflets to refer to though, have been told to just read up on the internet.

NotAnotherNewNappy- I had a similar 'head shot to pieces' experience at work when I kept trying to say the work 'maximum' at a presentation and continued to say 'capsicum' the whole time. Blush

stuffedmk · 06/08/2010 10:43

Morning everyone, just updated list with latest additions and putting everyone in date order.

oska, edd end March
Alibabaandthe40nappies, edd 28/29th March
Petalouda, edd 28th march-2nd April
BeetleBaby, edd: 31 March/1 April
livviloo, edd 1/2 April
nuttysquirrel, edd 4th April
stuffedmk, edd 6th April (1 DS, 9yrs)
NotAnotherNewNappy, 6th April (1 DD, she'll be 2yr 7mo by my edd)
kitstwins, edd 7th April
Ulysses, edd 7th April
Thaney, 8th April
KaraStarbuckThrace, edd 9th April
silkenwings, edd 9th April
Osch, edd 10th April
ihaveaplan, edd 10th April
dasha, edd mid April
Snowfalls108, edd?

As for symptoms, I had two mornings of upchucking but now only have mild nausea. I think the sickness is more to do with the dizziness I have at the moment (don't think this is prenancy related though as I regularly get vertigo). I have tablets for the vertigo which I have had to take at times, but I am trying my best to manage without (the Dr did tell me I could take them but it doesn't stop me worrying)
Have been a bit crampy but not too bad.
The main thing at the moment is the tiredness, I'm permanently shattered Grin
