Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Cyclebump · 24/09/2010 16:06

I'm due April 4 with my first and it still feels a bit surreal. I've had the 12-week scan though and it really is a person in there!

beckie90 · 24/09/2010 16:11

my god ive found it again thanks to kittycatcat. been searching for it for a week lol.
well i have my scan in a week and half cant wait as at the moment even though i have been so ill beacuse of been pregnant, i still dont feel pregnant if you get me lol. hope everyone is doing ok x

Cyclebump · 24/09/2010 16:21

Ah, my sickness has passed at last AND my boobs don't feel as sore so I feel like it's all a bizarre fantasy. I have the scan pic on my phone to remind myself it's true!

lucielooo · 24/09/2010 17:22

Just found this thread! I'm 11+5 and just had my 12 week scan this morning.. I've had hardly any symptoms so worked myself into a right state worrying (even though I had a scan at 9+4 which was fine)

Was so relieved to see little moving about - it was lovely!

This'll be my first, and DP's 3rd (he has two boys 14, and 11)

Exciting stuff!!

lucielooo · 24/09/2010 17:22

And EDD is 10th April!

LisMcA · 24/09/2010 17:44

TFI Friday!! First week back at work over finally!! My week has consisted of wake up(usually late and very sleepy) go to work, pretend to look busy for most of the day but really i'm so tired i think i'm just shuffling paper from oneside of my desk to the other, go home eat something totally unhealthy, wait about an hour and if i haven;t been sick go to bed, fall asleep, then wake up and repeat!!

So looking forward to the weekend! it's DH's birthday on Sunday so I will have to make an effort to get up and spoil him :o

It's sooo good to hear all the good scan news! Yay

I have my booking appointment on Monday with scan booked for a week on Tuesday. Can't wait to get the pic to show off.

Oh and my waist is expanding! had to undo the button on my jeans today! forgot and got up to make a coffee, when walking back realised my jeans were under my bum at the back! thank god i was wearing a tunic top :o

Petalouda · 24/09/2010 17:50

Yay! loving the Friday positivity!

I've started going public today! It's really brilliant to be able to talk about it!! And finish sentences with "... and that's why I'm a bit mental"!

JoEW love the 'pregnancy crack' reference! My preggo-crack of choice is crisps! I've just got in from work and decided to treat myself to a MASSIVE pack of cheap salt & vinegar chipsticks. They're amazing!

I still can't get over seeing that little wriggling person in me. And how bizarre is it to be the one lying on the bed with the jelly on your belly, when you've seen it on tv a million times?! Amazing!

Ooh, I'm gushing, I'll go back to munching!

Happy Weekends people! x

lowra · 24/09/2010 18:37

Exciting to read everyone's good news and see the scans coming thick and fast :)

I've got my 12 week scan on Tuesday (although I will be 13 weeks by then)

Lowra x

lowra · 24/09/2010 18:38

Quick question to everyone who has had the scan already - how long did it take? x

youngblowfish · 24/09/2010 18:44

I am so happy for Petalouda, lucielooo and Cyclebump! How fantastic to hear the good news!

I also just found out that one of my best friends has just fallen pregnant - it feels so lovely to have someone to obsess about pregnancy with in rl :).

Petalouda · 24/09/2010 19:35

Lowra I think mine took about 20-30 mins, but it started a bit late, and then the baby wouldn't stay in the right position for the nuchal fold measurement, so I had to do lots of wiggling & jumping up and down! A friend was there for about an hour walking round & up and down stairs to try to get her baby to move! So it could be quicker if you have a co-operative child!

Liv77 · 24/09/2010 21:51

lowra My scan was about 20 minutes, including a toilet break to empty my bladder so they could get a clearer picture Blush.

Ob. couldn't get a measurement of the nuchal fold as baby wasn't in the mood for it but he said from what he could see it looked alright but if I wanted a full measurement done, he would have to do an internal scan. I didn't fancy that so i'll just settle for the quadruple blood test in a few weeks time.

Petalouda I've also found out that a friend who I met through AN class 1st time around is also expecting her 2nd 12 days before me. It's nice to know i'll have someone in a similar situation to meet up with during Maternity Leave next summer.

I've spent the evening at an NCT nearly new sale with a couple of mates. Had some lovely cake and got a bargain travel cot/playpen for £20. Although some psycho bitch did threaten my friend when she tocuhed her bloke's arm to get him to move, never mind pregnancy crack I think she may have been on the real thing Sad

Ladybird10 · 24/09/2010 22:02

So exciting about the scans so far, hope mine turns out just as good.

Thanks for the info JoEW, i will remember to eat more bannanas.
I've been thinking i would like a water birth, it just looks so relaxing. Although i can't imagine giving birth is relaxing, i just like the idea of being in water. It's definatly something i will consider.

My cravings are salt and vinegar crisps, mash potato (yum) and i can't stop thinking about indian food but i know i shouldn't eat alot of that unless i want to be the size of a house.

I really fancied a subway last night but i usually have italian bmt which has peperoni, salami and ham, but the guidelines are not to eat deli meat. Do you think i will be ok to have one?

Daisy17 · 25/09/2010 08:19

Hey guys! It seems that depending on where you are you get different amounts of time for scans - some places let you keep moving around until the baby is in the right position, but where I am we had 20 minutes only and that was that, and as baby fell asleep! we didn't get the measurement. We weren't offered an alternative, just told we'd have to wait for the 16 week bloods. I'm 34 so we were a bit unhappy - and actually we're going off for a private scan this morning (thank you, Mum! who is paying the £180!!) to have another go. I think the NHS is amazing but it does seem odd that different places in the country have a different time allowance. ANYWAY, good news is we get to gawp at baby again and get some more pictures! Grin

lowra · 25/09/2010 11:07

Daisy, I'm 34 too and we aren't even offered the nuchal fold test in our area.I'm considering getting a private scan too but we aren't sure what we would do with the results so it's a difficult decision. Seems such a long time to wait though for the 16 week blood tests. And then another wait for the results.

Were ypu able to get a private scan quickly?

lowra · 25/09/2010 11:08

PS Daisy hope your scan went well.

JustKeepSwimming · 25/09/2010 12:07

Glad to hear lots of good scan news. I should get a date next week at the MW appt for the following week.

I have probably over-thought about the birth, DS1 was a home birth (long but lovely, as much as these things are, lol). DS2 was a planned HB but was an undiagnosed breech so then it was blue-light to hosp for an em c-s.

This will be a planned HB but HBAC is unusual to say the least round here, sure the docs will have lots to say but i already have most of the MWs on-side as they feel they 'owe me' from last time lol :)

Still mostly totally knackered, how is everyone else feeling?

serafinacat · 25/09/2010 22:43

Hiya, I'd like to join too! Am 9+1 and due 29th April! I'm still a bit jumpy as had m/c back in Feb at 6 weeks. Am starting to feel a lot more positive as time is going on though now, just keeping my fingers, toes and everything else crossed till my scan on 18th October.

Feeling totally knackered too at the mo, can fall asleep at the drop of a hat!! Grin

gormers · 26/09/2010 10:01

Hi ladies, sorry for recent absence, been ages since I posted. Caught up with the thread yesterday.

Firstly, so sorry to hear your news MissWooWoo, best of luck for the future.xx

So, I have been preoccupied with working like a demon - 10 days straight of 13 hour shifts, and vomting!! Sorry for TMI, but I have to share! About 8 times most days, with lots of mini-trips of retching. On a good day it's only 4 times!! Last weekend I couldn't even drink, only about 300mls a day!! Now drinking again, but that's always what sets the vomiting off. Weirdly, food seems to go down and stay down, it's fluid that my body appears to reject with a passion!

Anyhow, off work this weekend, and have mostly tried to sleep. Annoyingly, can't seem to lie in of a morning, but everytime I decide to lie on the sofa and watch tv - I fall asleep!! On well, I don't mind where it is as long as I sleep loads!

DH has been amazing, despite working stupid hours as well.

Hope you're all doing better. Please tell me this gets better soon! I think I'm past the worst of it - can't wait to start the 'glowing' phase ( but think I may never have that stage!)

FindingMyMojo · 26/09/2010 18:42

so tired. and so tired of feeling sick - though thankfully I'm not puking so it could be a lot worse. DP has taken DD to his mum's today so I've sorted out winter clothes, put my summer clothes & non-pregnancy clothes into storage - won't be seeing any of those before next may I hope. Right back to the sofa for me.

JoEW · 27/09/2010 10:20

welcome to serafinacat, hope all goes well!

Poor Gormers, that sounds dreadful. Hope you do start feeling better soon. I've been pretty lucky so far with morning sickness. I get quite queasy but it's not too bad. Kicked in quite a lot more over the last four or five days, so I'm not getting away with it completely but I'm nowhere near as bad as you sound.

Also pretty knackered and DH pointed out this morning that, "you look like you've been out hammering it every night". Thanks SO much!!

Got my scan a week on Wednesday and am very excited about getting that done, and getting the tests over and done with. Also telling my parents this coming weekend, which should be entertaining. I am 36 and I think they have given up on becoming grandparents so I expect them to fall over in a suitably dramatic fashion.

Also, Ladybird10, I've been eating all sorts of stuff that you're not 'supposed' to: rare meat, shellfish, soft boiled eggs, deli meat and a whole range of stuff that I didn't realise was bad. Have avoided caffine, mouldy cheeses and booze but that's about it. I suppose you can take the attitude that you can't be too careful but I've also decided to be fairly relaxed about it. I guess it's personal choice and depends how much you want the sub!

Hope everyone has a good week.

Cyclebump · 27/09/2010 12:23

Aaaargh! Have caught a horrible cold from DP and have just discovered that Lemsip is on the banned list. Eugh. I feel rubbish!

LisMcA · 27/09/2010 13:46

Poor cyclebump

I've just gotten over a bug, passed on by my DH! Can I suggest lots of steam(baths, bowls, sticking you head in the dishwasher just when it's finished!!!) and Olbas oil on a hanky, or on you pillow whne you are sleeping. Keep your fluids up to. I have fallen in love with orange lucozade!!! Look after yourself :o

Off to my first midwife appointment now! Woo Hoo!!

Cyclebump · 27/09/2010 13:59

Oooh, Olbas Oil, will give it a go, thanks!

Good luck at the appointment.
