Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MissWooWoo · 20/09/2010 10:04

jaylar I've been cold this pregnancy too which I thought was most odd as was constantly overheating when pregnant with dd at more of less the same time of year. Quick google and it turns out half the women on the forums out there are hot and half are cold.

Feeling slightly apprehensive (tmi alert) as have had a bit of brown/pink mucus when wiping every now and again over the last 5 days, wasn't too worried at first and luckily had my booking in appointment with midwife on friday, the day after it started - she didn't seem worried at all. But now it's day 5 and I've still got it, it's not been constant just 3 or 4 times a day when I go to the loo and so far no red blood. Am 10 weeks tomorrow, I couldn't bear it if this was the start of another miscarriage. Thought I was ok but after a bad start to the day, up early with dd, dp (probably just me) getting on my tits, broke my morning cup of tea mug (yes, I have an extra big cup first thing!) and then spent the next 20 mins with stinging eyes, itchy throat and nose from sweeping the mess up (dust!). Still in dressing gown as is dd and feeling sad, annoyed and resigned to bad news.

Sorry! what a downer for everyone

JoEW · 20/09/2010 13:00

Hello Jaylar hope all goes well but sounds as though things are progressing as they should. Once you have had a scan and they have seen a heartbeat there is only a 5 - 10% chance of a mc, apparently. So the odds are much better. I'm 10 weeks on Wednesday, due 21st April and I also had a mc at 9 weeks earlier this year, so I know how you feel. My early scan looked good and I am hoping that the fact I am covered in spots (forehead and chin, sexy!), am eating like a horse and am very tired in the morning are all good signs.

MissWooWoo sorry you're having such a horrid morning. Are you having any cramping or just the spotting? If there are no cramps that's encouraging. Why don't you get yourself down to the GP and get a scan booked in? It might just be some breakthrough bleeding if it's around the time that you would have had your period. It's vile to just sit wondering whether it's bad news though. Hope all goes ok.

Ladybird10 · 20/09/2010 14:09

Welcome to the newbies.

Hope everything turns out ok misswoowoo i would definatly call my gp.

I haven't gone to work this morning, hardly slept last night and felt so sick in the night and still do. Also my hips are so achey that it keeps me awake, anyone else have sore hips?

Does anyone know how it works if you have time off work with pregnancy illness, we're allowed 3 periods of sickness a year but would they count this as one of my periods even though its pregnancy related, i'm sure i've read somewhere that its different when your pg but i can't find my contract.

KnockedUpMell · 20/09/2010 14:30

Another latecomer here- I have my 12w scan today! Can't wait to go the hospital! Grin

Had an early scan which gave me a due date of 3rd April... Seems a very very very very long way away! I know it's way too early to buy anything but really can't help looking at baby clothes and nursery bits...

Also have a wedding to organise for November this year as this LO was a complete shock and we really want to get married before he/she makes an appearance. Hoping I will be able to find a dress that fits.

Fortunately food aversions and nausea settling but starting to get back pain and waking up several times in the night to pass what seems like a miniscule volume of wee...

youngblowfish · 20/09/2010 14:53

Good afternoon fellow pregnant ladies,

I have not posted on here for ages, mostly due to the most extreme pregnancy exhaustion I could imagine, but I am finally feeling a little better and ready to come out as the persistent lurker that I am.

The time sometimes seems to stand still in anticipation of the all important 12 week scan, but isn?t it amazing that we are almost through with the first trimester? There is already a June antenatal thread on here! When did that happen? Clearly, I have been sick, tired and a bit out of it for a while now.

I am feeling a lot better now, but I know symptoms tend to come and go, so I thought I could use my time wisely and update our list:

I am feeling very jealous of all the ladies already having their scans! KnockedUpMell ? how exciting! I still have to wait for mine for at least another two weeks (I am 10+1 today) and I am yet to receive the date for it Hmm. I really hope we all get to see a fuzzy image of a healthy, bouncing baby inside soon! Can?t wait to hear everybody?s scan news!

Jaylar · 20/09/2010 14:54

Miss WooWoo most of the stats will tell you that spotting is very normal but if you're stressing (of course you are, anyone would) then skip the GP, all they can do is refer you, so they are another step you don't need, and go straight to your Early Pregnancy Unit. Given your history they should book you in that day or next for a scan. My last miscarriage happened on Xmas Eve so GP not open. I called NHS 24 and they set me up with an emergency scan the next day. At least I didn't have to spend a week worrying and not knowing. Hopefully you'll get the reassurance you need. Let us know how you get on. Fingers crossed.

Ladybird 10 That is a system I've not heard of. If you're sick, you're sick. I guess it depends if you want to tell work yet. I'm off sick today for first time ever during a pregnancy as had to get off bus on way to work to throw up. Was very embarassing as stood right by rush hour stand still traffic for 15 minutes heaving with (tmi) barf all over my hair and suit. Had to phone DP to come and get me. But there's still no way I'm telling work until I have toi as my contract is up for renewal and illegal or not, I'm sure they'd have 2nd thoughts if they knew I was pregnant. Really hoping that today was a blip.

Liv77 I have a similar outlook. I'm one of 7 kids and never wanted any more than 2 and I certainly didn't want 2 close together. I think people who haven't had the experience can romantacise big families. I get on best with the siblings who are furthest from me in age as they were never competition. I work 30 hours too(DP is also part-time and does childcare) so eldest is used to us having other committments in life. She has started asking for a baby bizarrely, we haven't told her yet because she's so gobby she'd tell everyone, but has stipulated it must be a boy. She is very good with younger children and the babies at nursery but could be a different matter when it doesn't go home to it's own house. Especially if it's another girl.

MissWooWoo · 20/09/2010 16:02

thanks everyone for kind words of support, think I will see how things go over the next few days and if I'm still getting it I'll call midwife who'll probably advise going down to the EPU. Part of me is in denial and part of me just wants to get it "over and done with" if I am unfortunate enough to be going down that road again. Aaarrggghh!

sending good vibes out to everyone here Smile

LisMcA · 20/09/2010 18:22

Sending good vibes back to you misswoowoo :)

So today was my first day back at work after fortnight off. So tiring and had to make a quick exit to the loo on more than one occasion Blush

But this afternoon was the best when a colleague (I don't even know her name) congratulated me. I have only told my immediate manager and one other girl in the office who is expectin too. My manager has told the department head because of Health and Safety or something like that, so one of the 3 can't keep their mouths shut Angry

So I've had to make an early announcement. I was planning on waiting until at least next week, but hey ho! The cats out of the bag now I suppose.

Scan date 5th October only 2 weeks to go! :o

SaorAlba · 20/09/2010 22:26

Had my 12 week scan today. Fidget only measuring 10+3, but ah well. Spoke to my mum afterwards and she said she was 3 weeks out on her dates with me and 2 weeks out with my sisters, so I'm in good company. I am updating the list to change my due date.

I'm pretty knackered so will post more fully tomorrow.

Hi All,

Sorry a bit late to join this thread. First of all, heartiest congratulations to everyone and "yeay - we've made it to 12 weeks!".

I've had a pretty rough ride so far - got diagnosed with blocked tubes so was majorly upset and then had missed period to realise i was pregnant! After many blood tests and scans they confirmed that its an intra uterine PG.

Then had some spotting around 5 weeks which they diagnosed as implantation bleeding and actually lots of bleeding at 10 weeks which they said was nothing to worry about! It almost seems as though the first trimester has been a miscarriage waiting to happen!

Have had my midwife appointment and have my 'first' scan tomorrow - though have been given the 4 April date in the many scans before. I really hope everything is ok tomorrow - i am so scared.

The trips to the loo have finally reduced but tiredness still kicks in every evening. I hope to get it over with soooooooonnnnnn - please God, please.....

I've added my name and EDD to the list below. Hope to keep in touch and good luck everyone!

Ladybird10 · 21/09/2010 12:39

Jaylar sorry that you were off work too, poor you having to get off the bus to be sick. It's horrible isn't it?
I told my line manager at 8wks that i am pregnant because i'm suffering badly with nausea, she was brilliant and really happy for me. So she knows why i am off work.
I'm going to the doctors soon to see if there is anything they can do, i'm not sure there is much they can do though. Hmmm, i might try those sea sick bands. Really want to go back to work tomorrow.

Does anyone else keep tossing and turning in the night as can't get comfortable? Keep thinking it's not good for bean as i must turn over about 30 times in the night :(

7 days till my scan :)

JoEW · 21/09/2010 13:10

Yes, good vibes MissWooWoo!

LisMcA your story amused me, I had a similar 'surprise' yesterday. Got an email from a freelancer who I haven't worked with for a year or so, but who knows my boss, congratulating me on the news. Clearly my boss isn't very good at keeping quiet either. And it's not as though she bumped into her, as our head office is in South Africa! I haven't even told my parents yet and already random people are congratulating me. I don't even like this woman, most annoying!

I've got my midwife appointment tomorrow and then 12 week scan booked for 6th October. Looking forward to getting that scan and the tests out of the way.

Sorry, Ladybird10, I sleep like I've been drugged so can't offer any advice there!

MrsWajs · 21/09/2010 14:27

Had scan done today-

MrsWajs is annoyed that she is only bloody 9+3!!! Ugh!

However on the plus side I did see our 'blob' and it was kicking its foot stumps at me and heart was beating away fine. Thankfully they are taking me back in, in 3 weeks time for my proper 12 week scan and this time I will get pictures!

Just a bit peeved that I can't tell people yet but hey ho at least everythings fine. My new (approximate) due date is now 22nd April - I'm practically falling into the May thread!!

AprilMeadow · 21/09/2010 14:50

SaorAlba & Mrswajs, pleased that your scans went well even if you have had your dates put back a little.

Welcome to CrazyMiracle :)

Got my scan on Friday and starting to get quite excited about it!!

My baby was 1 on Sunday, so now feel a little happier when telling people that my children are 5,3 &1 as it doesnt make me sound quite as mad as i am :o

Nausea is still hanging around although not as bad as it was thankfully.

Daisy17 · 21/09/2010 17:17

Had our scan today, DP got the day off work too, so exciting! Correct number of limbs and a little heartbeat and exactly the due date I had predicted from my own calculations re ovulation, so now 6th April. Unfortunately, after being quite active at the beginning, the little thing then fell fast asleep, in the wrong position for doing the nuchal measurement, and no amount of me turning from side to side and then BUMPING MY BOTTOM UP AND DOWN ON THE BED (they really did ask me to do this!!Blush) could wake it up. So it looks like the combined bloods screening at 15 weeks instead. Feeling a bit worried by the lateness of this, but reassured by the lovely scan man who said as far as he could see it looked perfectly normal. Anyone else ever had to wait for the 15 weeks test instead? My mum has offered to pay for us to have a private scan done to have another go, but I'm not really sure if we're that stressed about it.

Liv77 · 21/09/2010 17:35

Glad the scans are going well and good luck to those still waiting.

Welcome crazymiracle

i havn't been feeling so bad lately, the nausea is dying down, still knackered though. It wasn't helped when my DS decided to wake up at half 5 this morning. Fortunately it was my half day at work today so I had a nice nap on the sofa this afternoon whilst he sat transfixed in front of a DVD for an hour Smile

Now i'm announcing i'm PG i'm surprised by the number of people who instead of congratulations have said "Well Done" Confused it seems a rather strange choice of words to me.

LisMcA · 21/09/2010 17:45

Hello Ladies!

I have a new pregnancy ailment for you all [pride emoticon]

it's apparently called slapped face! No I didn't slap the office gossip for being unable to keep her mouth shut! Although I did come close to it Wink

Late last night, well I was in bed so about 8.45 i started getting this tingling on my left cheek. then woke up at some ungodly hour lying on left side and it felt like my pillow was a pin cushion. It has gradually worsened through the day, so I called my midwife.

Its quite common according to her, and I'm lucky that it isn't red or swollen eek!!

Anyone had this??

The list of unattactive symptoms grows ever larger!!!

youngblowfish · 21/09/2010 19:30

Lovely to hear all the scan news, even if the little fidgets look young :). crazymiracle, what a first trimester you've had! Welcome and let's hope for very uneventful 6 months.

Liv77, 'well done' does seem quite an odd thing to say to me as well Confused.

I told my GP today that I was still waiting for the letters for my appointments and it transpired that something went wrong and I was nowhere to be found on their ante-natal system - I would have never received anything as my referral simply disappeared. But I spoke to a really lovely lady from the ante-natal clinic who registered me and immediately booked both the scan and the mw appointment for me in under 10 minutes! The downside is, I will have to wait until the 13/10 for the scan, but hey ho - at least DH will be able to come.

In other news, I had my first batch of pregnancy wear delivered today and it turns out that my breasts have already grown by two cup sizes. I am now a 32DD and my new bras are twice the size of the old ones. I have to say that I find it very odd.

Jaylar · 21/09/2010 19:40

Congrats to everyone who has had a scan.

Lis McA My 2 year old had slapped face syndrome, which I'd never heard of till then, but is common amongst kids. No idea it was a pregnancy symptom.

Liv77 when I had my first I got the congrats but other half got the well done comments. Apparently he had made all the effort and success was down to him. Maybe you're just being recognised for your input iyswim.

After feeling grim for weeks and hitting my lowest point yesterday I've been totally chipper today and at nearly 8pm have no desire to go to bed. Cause for celebration? Not in my paranoid head. Must be a sign something is wrong. Wish my worry gene would give it a rest.

MissWooWoo · 22/09/2010 10:42

morning ladies

sadly I'm here to say goodbye. Had a scan at the EPU and things are not good, no heartbeat and embryo only measuring 6 weeks when I am 10 - no way that I am 4 weeks out with my dates. Just waiting to miscarry really Sad. Feeling sad but trying to stay positive and just want to get it over and done with so we can start trying again. Upset that my body has just carried on as if everything is ok, I look bloody pregnant fgs! Life is funny no? arrived back home to find lovely new maternity bra from Bravissimo waiting for me ... haven't even opened the box. Oh well, it'll keep.

Very best of luck to all you lovely ladies and wishing you all a smooth and happy pregnancy Smile

JoEW · 22/09/2010 12:30

So sorry to hear your news MissWooWoo. It's horrible, and so tough when you have invested all the time, emotion and energy in being pregnant. I really hope that you manage to start trying again soon and don't worry it shouldn't take too long. I got pregnant in July after a miscarriage in May. It can seem like such a large amount of time invested in 'nothing' but in a few months time you can gear yourself up again, once you've got over the loss. The best way that I thought about it was to say that it just wasn't right and that it's better that this happens than having a seriously ill child. I hope that helps, it made me feel better at the time.
Hope the next few weeks are not too traumatic and try to be a positive as possible. And have some wine, that cheered me up no end. x

MrsWajs · 22/09/2010 13:32

Oh misswoowoo I'm so sorry to hear that. Take care of yourself.x

MissWooWoo · 22/09/2010 15:43

yes! wine! I have to say JoEW I totally agree with you on the seriously ill child front. Thanks for all the support and good luck everyone!

ecuse · 22/09/2010 17:31

Really sorry to hear that, MissWooWoo, it's so sad.

Petalouda · 22/09/2010 17:49

Afternoon all,

Sorry to hear your news, MissWooWoo.

I've just got home from work after a "so-tired-I-could-cry" moment, followed by actually crying!

And just discovered I've had some bleeding this afternoon. I don't really know how to feel about it, I'm 13 weeks, scan's booked for tomorrow anyway. I almost feel like I expected this to happen anyway.

I'll keep you posted.
