MrsWajs · 11/09/2010 19:31

Really sorry to hear your sad news lady good luck to you for the future.x

Is anyone else having symptoms that are coming and going? Mine were pretty full on for last 2 weeks - sore/bigger boobs, feeling queasy, sense of smell being in overdrive etc etc but this week they seem to have calmed a lot, stopped feeling so sick in the evenings and boobs definitely not as painful or heavy feeling. Is this normal for 10 weeks or should I be worried - scan still won't be for 2 weeks and am starting to get a bit panicky.

Any advice appreciated! :)

Petalouda · 11/09/2010 21:49

Hey MrsWajs,

From about 8 weeks I stopped feeling constantly sick, it only got bad when I got over tired.

About 9 weeks I noticed I had the super smell!

At 11 weeks I went back to school and was either teaching or sleeping, needing at least 10 hours a night.

And that's about where I am now. But then my scan's not for another fortnight, so no real way to be sure everything's ok. I'm reassured by the idea that whether there's any definite symptoms or not, I definitely don't feel 'normal' any more!

JenAT · 12/09/2010 08:28

Wow, lots of new additions to the board and a few leavers Sad.

MrsWajs my symptoms are changing too. Now nearly 11 weeks and the constant nausea is now only in the mornings and evenings. Boobs stopped feeling sore but gone v veiny! No weight gain yet, infact lost 5lb probably due to throwing up a lot in the past 4 weeks.

Been away on hol last week to Norfolk so tiredness not too bad as lovely time relaxing but back to work tomorrow.

Had letter for midwife visit on Thursday but I will have to cancel and re-arrange as self employed and can't take time off, still no scan appt though, looking like will be around 13-14 weeks+ by the time i have my first scan.
Anyway hope everyone has a good Sunday.

AprilMeadow · 12/09/2010 09:42

So very sorry to hear your sad news Lagygonegaga. Sending big hugs xx

Symptoms aplenty here! The nausea is STILL hanging around all day and it is really getting me down. Am knackered running round after the other 3dc's and when i get stressed or tired its much worse.

Am 10+6 today and have a scan date of the 24th Sept when i will be 12+4. Getting quite excited now :) Oh and the best bit is, that as of tomorrow there will only be 20 something weeks to go rather than 30 something :o

Hope everyone is having a good weekend x

Asterias · 12/09/2010 09:57

lowra I think it depends on your PCT. Where I am the scan dates and generally sees the baby is there and ok. We're not offered the nuchal fold test at all. I seem to remember it being over very quickly last time.

At 7+5 or 8+2 if going by ovulation I still have symptoms aplenty too. I think it's a common time for them to ease off though. I wish mine would. I was ill the whole of my last pregnancy so really wishing it won't be the same this time.

AprilMeadow · 12/09/2010 10:09

Lowra, I'm in Hampshire and we get the nuchal fold test if we want it. We have to sign a form and take it with us. We also have bloods taken after the scan. Once we have the nuchal fold test we get a risk rating and then about a week or so later we get a letter giving the combined risk using the data from the measurement and the bloods. I think with dd2 the risk was something like 1:20000

I do think it is very interesting how different PCT offer different things. My friends live in Glasgow and dont get a 20wk scan unless they go private.

Might be worth contacting the ante-natal/gyne department or your MW to see what is offered at your scan.

Ulysses · 12/09/2010 10:27

Hi Ladies!

Haven't been on here for ages cause nothing much was happening but have had my first scan and was so delighted to see baby wriggling around in my tum! Thought I was only 10 weeks but have been dated for 6 days ahead. Hmm... not sure how that could be the case but there you are. Now have appointment for double test at 15 weeks and a 19 weeks scan in November, so things seem to be moving on now after waiting ages.

Am starting to share news with everyone. DD burst into to tears when I told her but this is because she thought I had to go into the hospital right away and that we didn't have nappies or any baby clothes Grin.

She is thrilled to becoming a big sister though and has been telling all our neighbours who are like us, surprised but delighted.

Still feeling nauseous all the time and tired. Was sick the past three mornings but okay today. DD away at GPs last night but is due home soon so no doubt tiredness will set in soon again!

Hello!

I've added myself to the list - due 5 April, when my dd will be almost 2.

I am expanding at an alarming rate - it wasn't like this last time - I haven't told anyone but my family but I think everyone knows.

Dorothy Perkins have some nice looking maternity stuff online - I did a big order last night so I don't know yet how it is irl but I am hoping it will solve all my problems as I have no clothes. Just thought I would come on here and let you know the discount code for 25% off this week - it's DPVIPD.

Hope you're all well and copying with sickness etc

Liv77 · 12/09/2010 18:55

Lady sorry to hear your news, look after yourself. Sad

MrsLionHeart
I'm not on the UK mainland so I expect this won't apply to you but as you asked:
My GP pre-booked my blood tests with the practice nurse when I saw her to tell her about the pregnancy, and also referred me to the OB who's PA later contacted me to make an app. for my 12 week scan. My bloodtest will have been sent to our only island hospital for processing and I assume that's when your details are passed on to the midwives who eventually send you a booking app.

Kitty81 · 12/09/2010 22:27

Hey; new to MN and first pg; edd 4th April. Am soo unbelievably ill; already had to take time off work for MS, hoping not to take any more but completely exhausted as no food staying down. I'm a drama teacher; pretty much dreading this week as the students come back to class and I have all the get-up-and-go of a lump of playdough! Please tell me this will get better soon!

NTM you all. Bring on April! :)

MrsWajs · 12/09/2010 22:43

Thanks for the DP code curryeater :)

Since we're sharing variances of care thrughout the cuntry thought 'd add my tuppence...

I can't have the NT scan as "they don't do it here yet"Confused So just have to wait for bloods at 16 weeks.
Apart from that had all my other bloods done at booking appointment which was last Monday (around 9 weeks) and will be scanned at 12 weeks (r hopefully slightly before if I have my way!) And that's as much as I know just now!

Feeling slightly less worried today as had to get up and pee at 3 this morning and when I woke up proper at half 8 my right boob was massive and sore again - so symptoms are continuing just not as full on as they were. Thanks all for the reassurance though! :)

MrsWajs · 12/09/2010 22:45

And perhaps I should also mention that I'm havng problems with my I and O keys as well!!!

Cuntry indeed! Shock

mole2 · 13/09/2010 08:48

LoulouCapone , I thought it was just me that couldn't stand the smell of my house!

We just moved into our new house 4 weeks ago so it still smells like someone else's house. Previous owner had a cat that peed everywhere and there is one cupboard emitting the most vile smell which makes me vomit every time I walk past it. The smell of the cleaning stuff we bought to mask it is equally vomit inducing unfortunately.
I am struggling with the smell of the fridge, washing machine, the dishwasher, the puppy (9 weeks old and not yet housetrained WHAT were we thinking!!).
Feel so guilty that I dread getting home from work because of all this. DH is a bit of a cleaning freak so is despairing at being unable to use any smelly stuff for cleaning.

kittycatcat · 13/09/2010 09:27

Morning everyone. Had a very stressfull start to the working day so am now taking deep breaths and counting to ten.

Lady so very sorry :( Keep in touch and let us know how you are doing.

Gormers my nickname for 'bump' is Kitten...

MrsWajs my symptoms have mostly gone too. I would rather suffer and know all is well. But Petalouda has reassured me. I am 8weeks +1 today. Still no date for midwife or scan and i am NOT a patient person!

Yes thanks Curryeater for the code. I need trousers but mat ones are still too big despite me feeling huge.

I was at a party Sat night and my friends uncle asked when i am due! Argh. I said i wasnt pregnant which felt mean to kitten and tto him as he obv felt bad. But not all our friends know!

My nickname for Bump at the moment is 'Croc'. Because that is the nickname that my Welsh nan used to call my Aussie husband . It's after Crocidile Dundee...

I'm also flying back to the UK this Wednesday for a holiday. Still feel like utter crap and am praying for a half empty plane so I don't have to have anyone sat next to me and I can stretch out. I would say that the chance of this happening is probably a BIG FAT ZERO! Also, as I booked this holiday months ago, it transpires that I'm in the UK between the period of when I need to have my NT Scan. So luckily I have booked into a private ultrasound clinic called Babybond for when I'm there. Which is lucky I can do that in the UK! I also had another quick scan with my OBGYN today just to make sure everything was okay before I fly and everything seems to be great. The little one was moving it's arms & legs around. It was really wierd and quite cool to see!!

And thanks Curryeater. Need to do some big time maternity shopping when I get home. Choice of maternity wear is a lot bigger than down here!

Wombat33 · 13/09/2010 11:42

Hi all. Just popped in to see if there was any news from Ladygonegaga. Lady, if you're reading. I'm so, so sorry. My thoughts are with you and your DP xxx

Wombat33 · 13/09/2010 11:46

To the rest of you lovely ladies - I wish you all the very best of luck and hope things carry on well for you!! It may sound trite and cliched, but enjoy being pg if you can - even the achy backs, sickness and fatigue - they will fade and it will all be worth it in the end!

caramellokoalalover · 13/09/2010 13:40

So so sad to hear your news Lady, I hope you are ok.

LoulouCapone · 13/09/2010 16:06

Yay Mole I am not alone. To be fair - I can't tolerate the smell of anywhere for any length of time. I don't have the excuse of it smelling like someone else's house though - we've lived here 7 years.

I'm the same about cleaning too - unless it smells like really concentrated bleach - which obviously isn't ideal.

I'm adding myself to the list..

JoEW · 13/09/2010 16:39

Hello everyone,
Haven't been on for a week or so as I was travelling and, my god, it's been an eventful few days. I was out working in South Africa and had some rather significant reddy brown bleeding on Thursday evening. It calmed down but continued for the remainder of my trip and was still going this morning. Add to that my mind sickness seemed to have gone and my breasts were nowhere near as sore as they had been. I had pretty much convinced myself that it had all gone wrong - it seemed to be similar to my last miscarriage and around the same time too. So, got myself as scan this afternoon and everything is fine. Saw the heartbeat and the dates are spot on too, everything seems to be in order, I am SO thrilled. It's the first time I have really felt that I might actually have a baby next year. Anyway, just wanted to share that as we all have so many worries and niggles and it doesn't always mean the worst. Hope everyone else is ok.

JoEW · 13/09/2010 16:40

MILD sickness, not mind sickness. Though my husband might argue that my typo was more accurate!

kittycatcat · 13/09/2010 16:43

Phew JoEW what a relief for you. Yay :)

Petalouda · 13/09/2010 17:27

Hey all,

First up, I'm amazed at how late some of you can stay up: 22:45?! I haven't seen that time of day since June!

Kittycatcat re: maternity trousers - I got sick of having nothing (comfortable) to wear after work (already got some lush Pumpkin Patch trousers for work) so we popped into town on saturday and got some really comfortable mat jeans from Next. Only £22, and they've got the adjustable elastic bits inside on the sides, so I've taken them in about 6 button holes, and they only fall down a little bit! But they're super comfy, and look much better than the saggy too-big things I was wearing.

And, according to my dates, I'm 12 weeks today! (but I could be gestating an imaginary foetus for all I know!)

AprilMeadow · 13/09/2010 17:39

I have to admit that i am now struggling to stay awake past 9pm!!

Have a little peek on ASOS for maternity clothes. I got some lovely black skinny type jeans on there and they are so comfy :o

caramellokoalalover · 13/09/2010 18:11

22:45 - amazing stamina! I'm impressed with myself if I see past 9pm these days.

Great news JoEW, so reassuring to hear that sometimes things turn out to be fine. Can't imagine your relief.

I gave in to the bulge and dug my maternity jeans out over the weekend. Topshop baxters, for those who are curious. Much more comfy but I'm having to do the haul up every few steps i take as they slide down all the time. Might have to migrate towards maternity leggings and tunics soon...already, feeling like I'm going to be the size of a house if I keep expanding at this rate Blush
