Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
livviloo · 02/09/2010 17:24

Hello I had a scan last week and no fetal heart so just waiting for the inevitable now. So you can take me off the list. Good luck to you allxx

AprilMeadow · 02/09/2010 18:13

Livviloo so sorry to see your post. Take care xx

We will be having the nuchal test, always have just because i would rather know. Both dh and i are very set on what we would do should there be any problems, even more so with this being number 4.

I had bloods taken at booking in AND they will take them again the 12wk scan :(

JustKeepSwimming · 02/09/2010 18:25

Livvy - :( Look after yourself.

Had initial doc appt, got to make MW appt & nurse appt (apparently the nurses do more now?), maybe do that tomorrow...

Undecided about nuchal test, just about to ask Dh what he thinks.
I'm not going to terminate for Downs but like others have said it might help to know.

Liv77 · 02/09/2010 20:08

Sorry Livviloo Sad take care.

I'm now 9wks+5, I've had some slight bleeding in the last 24 hours but as this is when my period would usually be i'm hoping it's nothing serious. My scan is booked for in 2 weeks time so will keep fingers crossed until then. I havn't received any contact from the midwives yet so don't know when my booking in app. is.

AmyLou32 · 02/09/2010 22:15

Hi all,

Mind if I join you? I am 10 weeks pregnant and due on the 1st April according to website calculators. This is my 2nd pregnancy although the 1st last year was mmc.

Has taken a while for me to get my head around my pregnancy as I had kind of begun to believe that DH and I weren't going to have children. With this in mind and concern for another mc, I have only recently been in contact with Midwives. Of course they can't see me for booking in appointment anytime soon, which causes me a bit of concern and combined with the fact that they can't decide where I should be going for maternity care (We live right in the centre on town, very few residential properties so no midwife allocated to my area, and they all seem to want to negate responsibility!!)

I have felt super crap with nausea (no sickness) for at least a month and feel huge for 10weeks, boobs and stomach, trousers are very tight!! Eating rubbish, which I really don't do at all, was very well trained to eat healthy dinners with lots of protein and veg etc! But instead it's pizza, garlic bread, crisps....argg....!!!

Anyway that's probably more than than enough info to introduce myself, congrats to you all look forward to chatting with you and big hugs to those of you who have left the thread, I was in your position last year so really can sympathise

x

LadyGoneGaga · 02/09/2010 22:15

Sorry to hear that Livvy.

Ihaveaplan think the scans are really inaccurate for dates until between 11 and 13 weeks which is when they do the dating scan so wouldn't set too much faith in the EDD they have given you.

Liv77 I bled in my last pregnancy and all was well so not always sinister. I would ask for an early scan at the EPU though to set your mind at rest. Speak to your GP if you have no midwife yet - seems odd they haven't contacted you at all yet. I would expect your booking appt too be very soon.

I am planning to have a nuchal just for the reassurance and beacuse I had one with DS I kind of feel you have to! But you have to go private in this area. But that's ok as found they spent a lot more time scanning me and explaining everything and much clearer picture etc than when I had the NHS scan (I still had my dating scan because I'm greedy!). Interestingly the NHS were bang on for dates though - went into labout on due date and born day after. Was three days late by the private scan reckoning!

I feel like shit today. So unbelieveably tired. Off to bed soon.

Wombat33 · 02/09/2010 22:51

Evening all. Quick question, when did you ladies who did get sick start feeling ropey? I'm 6+3 now and still feeling 'normal' (aside from no period, sore boobs and bloated tummy!). Part of me is glad and part is naturally worried that no sickness means no baby! Blush I have an early scan booked for two and a half weeks' time, but the days are going sooo slowly!!

welshwombat · 03/09/2010 06:27

Hi,

Do you mind if I join in? I'm a newbie to this forum. I'm 9 weeks tomorrow although feeling like a zombie. Extremely tired, constantly nauseous, sore boobs, can't eat half of the foods that I would normally enjoy, my sense of smell is also akin to a bloodhound and generally feeling very unmotivated. I can't muster up the energy to do any form of exercise and just want to eat cheese on toast all day long. This pregancy has also happened after 5yrs of trying and 9 rounds of IVF, so I should be a little bit happier about the whole thing, but incredibly nervous. I've already had 2 scans as well with my doctor and about to have another one at 10 wks (as I am flying back to the UK from Australia, so just to check that everything is okay before I fly). And then the biggie at 13wks when I am back from the UK.

The only good thing is that I have the freedom to work from home whenever I want, so am taking full advantage of that right now. Although that means I have spent all of time still sat in my pj's and checking out everything pregnancy related on the web instead.... So not exactly very productive.

Anyway, haven't had chance to read all 17 page of this thread so far, but wish you all the best in this long journey ahead!

Wombat33 - from one wombat to another, I started to feel sick at the end of 6 weeks, beginning of 7th week. So have been feeling rubbish for about 2 weeks now (and that is long enough!). Everyone is different, but if you're like me, it will kick in very soon. Or hopefully, everything will be fine and you'll just be one of those enigmas that might cruise through 1st trimester :)

Good luck everyone!

Karoleann · 03/09/2010 06:51

welshwombat congratulations you must be over the moon!

I'm booked for an early scan a week today, plus I'll have the nuchal fold at 13 weeks too. We're prepared to have CVS as well if this risk of abnormalities is high.

wombat 33 - hope you escape the morning sickness.

Liv77 · 03/09/2010 09:27

Hi ladygonegaga
Thanks for the info, I'm in the CI so not on the NHS. I seem to recall that with my DS I didn't see the midwife until after my 1st scan either but can't remember the exact dates. My scan is with my obstetrician and i have to take a urine sample along too. I had my bloods done by my GP practice nurse at 6 weeks so it sounds a bit differnet to how they do things in the UK. I think i'm going to leave it until monday and see how things are progressing then.

LadyGoneGaga · 03/09/2010 09:43

Hope you're ok anyway. I know it is worrying. Where is the CI by the way? Sorry if being dim.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 03/09/2010 10:25

Really sorry livviloo :(

Hello to everyone new - there are so many of us now!

I had my booking in yesterday with the midwife, I'm sure there were more forms than last time?! Been referred to the consultant because of having a section last time but I don't need to see them for about another 10 weeks. Should have a scan date in the next week or so!

I'm definitely going to have the nuchal fold, not because we would terminate but just because I would want to know. Lots of conditions that are associated with Downs benefit hugely from immediate treatment post-birth so I think it's good to know well in advance what to expect.

Still feeling sick and yucky, and so so tired. I'm 11 weeks tomorrow so really hoping I get some energy back soon!

Liv77 · 03/09/2010 11:14

You're not dim Ladygonegaga I did wonder when putting the abb. if you'd know where I meant. I'm in the Channel Islands so sort of the UK but we have our own government etc. If you're still unsure where I mean we're those little islands by France at the bottom of the weather map. Smile

ihaveaplan · 03/09/2010 11:28

So sorry to hear that livviloo :( Look after yourself.

JoEW · 03/09/2010 11:59

Hello everyone,
Quick question about flying - I'm due to fly to South Africa for work on Monday and wondered if anyone had any tips on dos and don't for flying (aside from not enjoying a nice gin and tonic before the film!). I'll be 8 weeks when I go.
Any advice helpful.

Also, Wombat33, I've not really felt that sick either, slightly queasy at most. I don't think it's something we should worry about, not everyone gets sick. I haven't had half of the symptoms that get listed and feel slightly envious when people say they feel REALLY pregnant as I think 'I wish I could have that reassurance' but everyone is different. Hopefully we're just lucky. And I know what you mean about days crawling by, i'm wishing the time away till 12 weeks!

ihaveaplan · 03/09/2010 12:06

I've been told by my docs that flying is absolutely fine at this stage, no need to worry or take special precautions but if you take anti-nausea drugs/travel sickness tabs make sure they're suitable for use in pregnancy!

Do make sure you take all the normal precautions for a long-haul flight - moving round, not staying in one position for too long etc.

LadyGoneGaga · 03/09/2010 13:01

Ah, Liv, that explains it. I admit I did Google CI and came up with the Ivory coast (Cote d'Ivoire) which I thought was a bit too exotic!

Ladybird10 · 04/09/2010 16:13

Sorry for your loss liviloo take care x

Thanks for the advice regarding colouring my hair, i'm booked in for next week.

I had my booking appointment on Thurs, all went well and the midwife said i have a low risk pregnancy which is good news. Still feel nervous sometimes though, can't wait for the 12 week scan.

Is anyone showing yet? I am sticking out already, i'm having to use the hairband trick as my trousers are to tight.

stuffedmk · 04/09/2010 20:45

Livviloo so sorry to see you go, take care of yourself!

Ladybird I am in maternity gear already lol, admitedly more for comfort on my queasy belly than fit but have a bit of extra roundness in the area.

Am bricking it at the mo as had some spotting friday morning, seems to have stopped but have to wait until monday morning for scan in EPAU. Keeping fingers crossed but after MC last time round can't help expecting the worst.
Roll on monday!!!

Liv77 · 05/09/2010 01:32

stuffedmk Hope all goes well on Monday, will keep fingers crossed for you. I had a small bit of spotting on Thurs/Fri but have been ok today, but am counting down the days until my scan.

Ladybird I'm not in maternity gear yet but being a generous size 16 have rather an ample size stomach without the help of a baby bump. Therefore I will enjoy not having to try and cover it up once I have announced i'm PG. Then I shall take delight in my big tummy whether it's a fatty bit or a baby bit Grin. If it's like when I was PG with my DS my stomach will gradually get harder and higher.

Asterias · 05/09/2010 09:17

Knock knock - may I come in? Been a MN member for months but not often on and never posted til today. I'm pregnant with #2 due April 26. Have a boy who is 21 months; working FT (ugh); been feeling sick since about 5+3. With my first I had 24hr crippling nausea from 6 weeks til the birth so very much hoping I don't do as badly this time, though it's not looking hopeful!

BeetleBaby · 05/09/2010 10:06

Hey there everyone,

I've not posted much this week thanks to exhaustion and generally feeling rubbish. I have no idea how a 4 day week can feel so looooong!

My nausea seems to be getting worse, progressing to regular up chucking. I have no enthusiasm for food as the only thing I can keep down that taste 'normal' are salt and vinegar crisps, Oh, and garlic bread!

I am also so tired that if I'm not at work or forcing myself to eat something I'm asleep. Usually such levels of napping wouldn't be a problem but we're moving house in 2 weeks and I've barely started packing, plus I really need to go buy some clothes that fit! The hair bands round my jean buttons will only last for so long!

Sorry to moan, I guess I just need to vent Blush Hope you all have a good Sunday!

Wombat33 · 05/09/2010 10:29

Morning all. Sorry to those who are feeling grotty. Hope it calms down soon. Still worrying here that feeling 'normal' is not a good sign, but am reassured by your post JoEW, thanks. I have an early dating scan booked for two weeks tomorrow so I just have to hold out until then!

PoisPois · 05/09/2010 10:36

I'm roundabout the start of week 7 now and haven't actually been sick but have got quite bad nausea. To make things worse, I've felt like I've had a stomach upset for about a week. Not sure if that's normal or not?

Tried to arrange my booking appointment through NHS choose and book earlier this week but it said there weren't any appointments available at the hospital we've been referred to. Now got to wait for the hospital to contact us. Grrrrh...I just want to get things rolling!

Petalouda · 05/09/2010 10:55

Morning all,

While we're on the confessions, stuffedmk I wore maternity trousers to school on friday - in my defence, I only bought them cos I was in pumpkin patch with my proper preggo sister, and they were on offer, and my normal work trousers don't fit (and while I'm justifying this to myself - I thought if I just buy a bigger size they'll only last another month, maternity ones should last the next 6).

I have to say, they are THE most comfortable things I've worn in months!

BeetleBaby sorry to hear you're feeling so rubbish. I'm with you on the garlic bread & crisps thing. My new obsession is home-made orange-juice ice lollies. Hope you feel better soon. And I hope the move goes smoothly - get some movers to quote for packing: some will pack for as little as £50.

TMI warning: but PoisPois, a lot of people have complained about constipation, I've had pretty much the opposite from (with hindsight) shortly after conception. And the worst trapped wind in the mornings! (sorry for sharing that!)

So I get to ring the hospital tomorrow to book my dating scan. Thanks to everyone for the nuchal fold thoughts, I think we will have the test, if only to reassure/prepare ourselves.
