BeetleBaby · 27/08/2010 15:31

I'm so sorry to hear that Numptys.

Today my nausea has turned into full blown sickness. Only things that seems to be ok are salt and vinegar crisps and cups of tea!

Thankfully I'm off work today anyway so I'm tucked up watching Cary Grant movies (sometime daytime tv does have some decent stuff!). DH and I are going to the Challenge Cup Final tomorrow and I can't help worrying that as I attempt to cheer on the Rhinos I'll instead be throwing up in the middle of Wembley Stadium... Hmm

Kitstwins I know what you mean about the boobs; I've gone from the small end of a 32A to a 34C! I'm not used to having boobs and they just seem to get in the way. It's making me a lot more sympathetic toward my sisters who are all 'well endowed' in the boobage area!

Ladybird10 · 27/08/2010 17:28

Sorry to hear your sad news numptys take care xxxx

tlat · 27/08/2010 20:30

So sorry to hear numptys !

NotAnotherNewNappy · 27/08/2010 20:43

So sorry numpty's Sad

Congrats & welcome to Aussiemum, Lowri & Can'tmummyhaveabreak (& your friend, the mum to be!)

I feel like pants - got a chest infection on top of the nausea and exhaustion. At least it's a good excuse to make DH get up with DD in the morning so I can have a lie in Grin

Kitstwins - Do you mean C&W as in Chelsea & Westminster? If so, I'm your labour ward buddy!

Jaq13 · 27/08/2010 21:41

Just catching up with this thread after being away for what seems ages. Sorry to hear your news numpty -

I've been experiencing the slightly queasy, v queasy, ravenous (then eat) then bloated rollercoaster and am so looking forward to it calming down.

I seem to be heaps bigger than with DS, the thought struck me the other day that it might be twins (I have two sets of twin aunts) - OMG!

Anyone out there had twins? Any ways of telling in the early stages?

I'm booked in for a nuchal scan in early October and will be so relieved to find out.

I haven't dared mention it to DH, he's still adjusting to the thought of one baby let alone two. [Even though baby was planned there's somehow a huge adjustment phase between yes, we want this in principle so let's try for a baby, to oh wow it's actually happened!] Ah well, 7 months left to get used to the idea!

kitstwins · 27/08/2010 22:14

notanothernewnappy - yes, Chelsea and Westminster. Odds are we'll be on the labour ward together then!!

Jaq13 I've had twins with my first pregnancy. Symptoms were that I showed really early (had proper bump at 14 weeks), needed the loo every five minutes - literally - and also felt vile. But as it was my first pregnancy I had nothing to compare it to. The only real giveaway was the bigger tummy early on - my uterus was over my pubic bone pretty early on.

Exciting if it is twins!

youngblowfish · 28/08/2010 00:31

Just caught up with this thread properly after lurking and being a little too tired to come up with coherent posts. A very warm welcome and congratulations to all the newbies!

numptysmummy, I'm so sorry :(.

cantmummyhaveabreak, I think what you are doing for your friend is truly amazing! Fingers crossed it all works out!

Kitstwins, great to read an update! Your consultant sounds fantastic, it must have been so good to see the little baby grow :). Also not looking forward to the 'just a bit fat' phase, I think I am already getting there as I have to keep snacking every two hours.

We told DH's parents this evening and they were delighted, which was really lovely to hear on the phone. But I actually had a pretty rough week. I lost an entire night of sleep on Tuesday night due to having a friend stay over, who had to catch a flight at a silly hour and made me walk her to the station at 4am. Why I did that, I will never know. It felt miserable at the time, but what really shocked me is that I did not just bounce back after sleeping for a bit afterwards. It took me good three days to just feel normal again and not completely wiped out/nauseous all the time. Not fun.

To put my regained energy into good use, I tried to update the list with all the new arrivals and my new edd, which arrived in the post together with a letter telling me that I will be giving birth at Lewisham. Anyone else, my fellow south Londoners?

Hello everyone, just back from our 2 week holiday, haven't thrown up, yet!
Similar starving vs. bloated feelings here.

Had some bleeding while away so am trying to remain realistic about the possibility of this not working out. Still got all the symptoms though so hopefully ok.

dreamydelights · 29/08/2010 10:28

I´m new on here and wanted to say hello (hope Iḿ not too late!:)) Haven´t read through the whole thread yet, but I´m delighted that I´ve come across it and love the idea of being able to talk to mums who are at the same stage as me.

I think I´m due between 7th and 11th of April although not completely sure as I´ve not been to the Drs yet. My pregnancy is a big surprise (already have a daughter of nine). We´re all excited although I´m a little more nervous this time (probably because I know how excited my daughter is and how devastated she´d be if anything goes wrong and also because I´m 38 - I´m no spring chicken!)

My first was born in Cyprus, so I have no idea how things work here and I have been away on holiday for the past month (only got home yesterday) I plan to go to the Drs on Tuesday - would anyone be kind enough to fill me in with what happens? (eg at what stage do you see the midwife/ do you have to keep going back to the GP regularly? when do you get your first scan?)

I´ll go back to reading the thread now:) I´m looking forward to hearing your stories and hopefully keeping in touch with all your developments.xxx

NotAnotherNewNappy · 29/08/2010 20:54

Hiya dreamydelights & big congrats! It's lovely that you and your family are so excited about your little surprise Grin

It seems to be different wherever you are but where i live it all kicks off about week 8/9 with your first visit to your GP's antenatal clinic (you will be required to pee in a bottle - so don't decide not to have a morning cuppa that day, like I did!). He/she may take your blood pressure, ask about any previous pregnancies and talk about where you might like to give birth (just realised my GP asked which hospital, didn't even discuss possibility of homebirth). GP should also give you v handy NHS book on pregancy & childbirth.

After that your midwife team should get in touch for your 'booking in appt'. This is when they give you your big book of notes (that you have to remember to take to all your appts with you). She'll also take your bloods and spend more time talking through what happens with you.

Some time before 14 weeks you should have your nuchal fold scan - it is especially important to get this done at the right time if you are an older mum. So if the hospital don't call, then make sure you get on to them.

I'm no expert (having my second, it's only been 2 years but I'd forgotten everything!)so hopefully soemone else will come on and fill all the gaps I've left. Take care x

Karoleann · 29/08/2010 21:45

Sorry to hear news numptymummy.

Hello, dreamy delights. I've not used the nhs befoe so not sure what happens. Hopefully will go to Portland again.

We've been down in Portsmouth this weekend for my brother's 30th and I've been feeling grim, sick and utterly knackered.

I've a scam booked for Friday week. I'll be 8 weeks, looking forward to having a bit of reassurance.

Hope everyone has a lovely bank hol tomorrow - we're blackberry picking!

Liv77 · 29/08/2010 22:05

Hi everyone, SaorAlba pointed us in the direction of this thread so thought I would come and introduce myself.
My EDD is 1st/2nd April, same as Livviloo, which is a strange coincidence as that was the name my mum called me when I was little.
I have a 2yr old DS also born in April.
As with the first time round I am being rubbish at not telling people until i've had my 12 week scan and apart from the parents and PIL have now blurted out my news to a dozen at least.

beckie90 · 29/08/2010 22:23

hiya ladies, may i join in.
im beckie my edd is 19 of april, i have a ds whos 2 this year.
even though i have one already im sooo terrified im only 20 and just petrified.
so hello everybody :)

ihaveaplan · 30/08/2010 09:49

So sorry to hear that numpty's :( Take care of yourself.

Hi to all the newbies (and the oldies). Hope everyone's not feeling too grim.

Karoleann - I'm not NHS either but am overseas. Anyone else? Had my pregnancy confirmed by an NHS doc before I went back though (insurance!)

JKS - sorry to hear about the bleeding :( Can you go see your doc and get an early scan for reassurance?

dreamydelights · 30/08/2010 09:58

Notanothernewnappy - thank you and congratulations to you too! Looks like we´ll be having our little ones at around the same time:)

Thanks for all the info, thats exactly what I was looking for (I knew the midwife got involved but I wasn´t sure if it was later on in the pregnancy or not). I´m glad its from early on. I better get myself to the GP asap, and make sure I get an appointment soon.
Thanks again!

Karoleann- enjoy the blackberry picking. Remember not too much bending!:)

Liv77 - hello and welcome - I´m new here too. I know what you mean about keeping it quiet. Everyone knew when I was 6 weeks (and I was abroad at the time)so even the distance couldn´t keep me quiet:)

Beckie90 - hi Beckie and welcome! Hope you´re not getting too stressed about it all. At least you´ve got the experience now, and its still all fresh. I feel a bit like a first time mum again since its 9 years since I looked after my first - I´m likely to have forgotton everything. Anyway, take care of yourself. x

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 30/08/2010 11:35

hi,
~tentatively waves hello~

I'm due some time in april, no idea when just yet though.
I have a DS who is 13 months.

MrsMogwai · 30/08/2010 12:50

Hello! waves to all

New to this part of the website. I'm 8 weeks today and due April 11th. I live in SE London. Got my booking in appt and scan date for 23rd and 28th September at St. Thomas' Hospital. Very excited!

Lots of morning sickness here. In the last week, it's gone from being nauseous 1/3 of the day to 2/3 of the day. Urgh! Using acupressure bands and mostly eating starchy bland foods, salt and vinegar crisps and sweet junk food like croissants and crumpets and sour hard boiled sweets. This is soo not like me! Oh well - as long as baby is happy it's all good!

Petalouda · 30/08/2010 19:15

Hello folks,
We're back from the Great Family Tour, during which time we told DH's family. (they took it surprisingly well!)

Been feeling much better of late, though I reckon boobs have grown again.

I'm 9 weeks today. I start school on Wednesday (bye bye nap time), and we've got the first midwife appt on thursday.

Finally, it's starting to seem real! :)

Petalouda · 30/08/2010 19:18

Oh no, wait, I'm 10 weeks! Duh!

Liv77 · 30/08/2010 20:03

Hi ihaveaplan.

I'm not NHS as am in the Channel Islands, most antenatal care is free but some things you pay for. So I will get a free dating scan at 12 weeks but if i want a Nuchal Fold scan will have to pay for it. I also remember from first time round that if you have your AN checks with the midwife it's free but if you some with your doctor (as they recommend) then you have to pay for those visits. You also have to pay to have your baby checked by your GP before they can be discharged from hospital but if you had an assisted/difficult birth or the baby has spent anytime in the NICU then the baby is seen by the hospital instead and you don't have to pay for that.

On the whole the care is good. Unfortunatley we don't get any free dental care or statutory maternity leave though Sad

SaorAlba · 30/08/2010 21:16

Sorry if this is tmi, but is anyone else horribly constipated? I'm feeling pretty grotty with it and have finally resorted to prune juice today. Ugh. Hope it will work.

Poor DP is having to put up me being thoroughly depressed this evening.

I'm 9 weeks today. My booking in appointment is 2 weeks today and my first scan is 3 weeks today. Not long until we can tell people! Telling my best friend on Friday and everyone else after the first scan. It will be great to speak to my mum about it.

Welcome to all the new ones :)

BeetleBaby · 30/08/2010 21:55

Hello everyone, and welcome to the newbies!

SoarAlba I had a really bad time with constipation a couple of weeks ago, thanks to some tips by people on here it seems to have umm 'cleared' and hasn't been as bad, though, to quote Peep Show "not normal poo-ing" Confused

Back to work tomorrow after my last week off until we close for Christmas Sad . No more naps during the day, what will I do? Under my desk with a blanket maybe?! hehe

I think I'm going to tell my manager this week as we're going to get very busy and pretty much manic and if I carry on as I have the last few days I'll be running off to throw up mid morning. Everyone else can just keep guessing until 22 Sept when I have my scan.

Although I'm nervous about telling my parents and PIL I can't wait until I can call Mum up and ask her all the silly questions I have and get the sympathy that Mum's know best how to give!

MrsWajs · 30/08/2010 22:54

Oooh MrsMogwai you are my pregnancy buddy - I'm due 10th April and so was 8 weeks on Sunday!! :)

Saor I have been a teeny bit constipated too but (also TMI) I am not always the most regular of people so hadn't really put it down to pregnancy - will be waiting eagerly to hear of helpful tips! How are you otherwise?

Well morning sickness began for me yesterday, haven't been sick at all but feel quite nauseated and my sense of smell has gone through the roof - not helpful when I work in a hopsital where not all of the smells are nice ones!!

Wombat33 · 31/08/2010 15:14

Hello all, can I join this thread? I'm 6wks +1 today and it's not quite sunk in yet! I think that makes my EDD about 28th April, but I'm yet to have that confirmed. I'm off to see the doc tomorrow and am hopefully going to have an early dating scan in two or three weeks' time, possibly followed by a CVS for potential chromosome problems so it's an anxious time here but I'm trying to focus on the positive side! No sickness yet. Am hoping that holds off for a while. Anyone on here got away without any sickness? It's my first pregancy so I'm a bit apprehensive about the whole thing! Grin

MouseCostume · 31/08/2010 16:04

Hello!

I've just found this board. I think I'm around 8 weeks and going for the hat trick! We have 2 DSs (5 & 3) already.

I have my early pregnancy scan on Thursday, hopefully that'll make it seem real as I haven't really had many symptoms, just a bit knackered, sore boobicles and (tmi) a bit of constipation too!

Wombat33,I was lucky with both of my other pregnancies, never been sick Grin.

I'm in North Yorkshire and hoping for a home birth (has DS2 at home and all good) anyone else?
