Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
numptysmummy · 24/08/2010 11:01

The worst bit is that i had a mc in jan and have been asking him to get snipped ever since as he was obviously so anti another baby. I can't use hormonal contraception aand he won't use condoms so i don't know how he can be so angry with me - it's not like i've tricked him. Oh well, i guess he'll get over it. Or not - up to him!

kittycatcat · 24/08/2010 11:07

Maybe he is angry at himself and taking it out on you? :(

numptysmummy · 24/08/2010 11:13

Who knows? He's got time off booked for next week. That'll be a bundle of laughs,at least he's gone to work by the time the sickness kicks in cos heaven forbid that i might be feeling like crap, knackered and running round after 4 kids. Anyway, enough moaning!

kittycatcat · 24/08/2010 11:29

hugs. Can i ask a pregnancy Q. I have a pain that feels like a pulled muscle in my right ovary area. Is that normal? I also had an ache in my leg at the back above the knee earlier. More symptoms? I had to keep standing.

numptysmummy · 24/08/2010 11:36

Ligaments stretching i would think, tho not sure about the knee?

numptysmummy · 24/08/2010 11:42

You know that the syptom spotting will last until you have given birth don't you? Starts with spotting being pregnant signs, then it will move on to first movements, then what sex it might be ending with labour symptoms!

kittycatcat · 24/08/2010 11:45

:) As long as there are still symptoms to spot i will be happy....!

tlat · 24/08/2010 12:40

Beetlebaby, choccies are a trigger for me too...I a a big addict and giving them up has got to be worse then giving up coffee!

Oh dear numptysmummy, sorry to hear about DH...sounds like he needs a 'how babies are made' picture book! Hope he comes around and you can be excited together!

gormers, I think we are leaning towards paying for a private scan just so we can tell the parents at least...it's surprisingly not expensive at all!

TotorosOcarina · 24/08/2010 14:08

Hello, just got a BFP this morning, am due end of April I think :)

kittycatcat · 24/08/2010 14:20

Congratulations Totoros. I found out a week ago today. Great feeling isn' it.

benandoli · 24/08/2010 15:11

Hi I am due April 19th with dc4! Yes DC4. Not planned, a real shock so i feel a mixture of emotions. Dreading telling people but also really excited. DH is not impressed.

kittycatcat · 24/08/2010 15:22

Welcome and congrats Benandoli

TotorosOcarina · 24/08/2010 15:59

bendoli this is DC4 for me too :)

Can ask if anyone has had implantation bleeding? I thought AF had started but it only lasted a day and ws pink/brown.

Jus trying to reassure myself really!

ecuse · 24/08/2010 16:31

Hello! Just got BPF last night. Not entirely sure when I'm due, but I think I'm on the right board. I'd assumed I was about 10-days post conception (which I thought we did on the day I guessed I ovulated, but I wasn't tracking it, in fact I wasn't TTC!). If I was right that would have given me a 6th May due date. But then I did one of those Clearblue tests that tell you when you conceived and it says 3+ weeks ago, which would bring me forward to 23 April. That would be odd but not impossible for my cycle, which is quite random. Guess I'll have to wait for a scan to date it properly. Does anyone know when that is? Is it the 12 week one? I guess I need to get me to the doctor too. Oddly that's only just occurred to me. Wow. Lots to learn.

kittycatcat · 24/08/2010 16:33

hehe welcome Ecuse you may be due the same day as me. Do you know when the first day of your last period was? You can work it out on the due date calculator if so?! Scan is 12 weeks. But you will get a midwife appt before then i think!

ecuse · 24/08/2010 17:17

Hi kittykat.

WELL since you asked about my complicated menstrual cycle....!

Last period was July 4th which by traditional methods would put me at 9th April due date on a traditional 28-day cycle.

However my cycle is nuts. I have PCOS and have always had irregular periods over a long cycle (had no periods whilst on the pill for 3 years, but before that used to be anything from 35-42 days).

However in the last year my cycle has been a bit nutty. In reverse order from July 2010 I've had:
61 days
54 days
54 days
38 days
38 days
36 days
41 days
35 days
34 days

So really I have abso-bloody-lutely no idea when I conceived.

TMI? Sorry ...

That, amongst other things, was one of the reasons I'm shocked (but pleased) to be pregnant. We weren't TTC, and I was quite convinced I would have fertility problems. We were going to start in earnest in a year or so but have been gradually more lax about contraception over the last few months, not least because I was convinced I wouldn't get PG!

Not ideal timing - I was hoping to get promoted before having kids (will never get promoted after) and the extra money would really come in useful if we're starting a family. But I'm just thinking to myself that we'll manage because people manage all the time, and I'm basically really pleased.

Now just trying to work out if I can keep it secret until the next round of promotions go before the board which I think is in November. Depending on when they happen I'll be 16-19 weeks. Anyone know if it's feasible to keep it secret from work that long? Is there any legal minimum notice period you have to give them of being pregnant? Practically, will I be able to keep it a secret?

Sorry, this is our first child and I'm just overwhelmed with questions at the moment. There seems like so much to find out!

MissWooWoo · 24/08/2010 18:18

hey toto my usual cycle is 30/31 days ... (tmi alert) went to the loo early evening on day 29 and there was a little bit of brown/pink mucus so presumed I was coming on and proceeded to take my "just one glass of wine" up a notch to one glass of wine, 3 and half pints of beer and a double vodka and tonic (I was out). Next morning, same again, just a bit when I went to the loo, waited for period to come all day and nothin. Tested on day 32, got BFP (oops to the booze!) had a bit more pinky brown discharge on day 37 but nothing since - am 6 weeks exactly today.

Congratulations Smile

AprilMeadow · 24/08/2010 19:36

Hi ladies,

Misswoowoo & TotorosOcarina, I had the same on day 23 and told dh that this month was safe as i was pretty sure that i was about to come on.... 24hours later the faint nausea started and by day 25 i KNEW that i was pg and the test only confirmed that... I dont remember having it with the other 3 though.

Congrats benandoli, i'm on number 4 as well - its a nice round number :)

numptysmummy, my dh was very much like that when we found out we were having dd2 (dc3). Took along time to get his head around the idea that we would have 3dc's. He was more worried as Ds is a little bit of a handful at times and didnt know how we would cope.. We coped/are coping fine and when we found out about pg4 he was much more excited, almost as much as when we found out we were pg for the first time. I hope that your dh comes round, give him time and he will be fine. Like you said, whats one more when you already have 4 :o

We have told the world (via facebook) about this baby!! Slightly hard to hide when i feel like sh*te and have a belly that looks 4mths pg already!! All family were very supportive which has been good :)

The nausea is not good! Some days are better than others, today is a not so good day :(. I find that stress really doesnt help it..

Have my first midwife appt tomorrow afternoon and really not looking forward to the blood tests!!

BeetleBaby · 24/08/2010 20:18

Hello again everyone.

First my rant for the day:
Today, I attempted to go buy new bras, as the only one I had left that fit was agony this morning. There are only 2 places in town that do bra fitting, neither of which had anyone able to fit after 3pm!! They wanted me to book in advance for the end of the week, rationally I know that this shouldn't be a problem but I was just so annoyed I ended up in tears in M&S Blush My boobs are just so sore, and I felt so sick and I'd dragged myself all the way there when all I wanted to do was curl up and feel sorry for myself at home.

In other news:
I had my first midwife appointment today. She was really lovely, very good at answering questions without leaving us with with 100 more! I could of done with my Mum there for all the medical history stuff, my family is just too big to be able to remember it all!!

kittycatcat · 25/08/2010 08:40

Wow ecuse no wonder you don't know! How frustrating that you have to wait until the 1st scan to find out too. You must be so excited not too mention stunned :)

beetlebaby glad it went well with the midwife. I don't know my dad so the medical history will be impossible on that side! Sympathise with the sore boobs. I keep waking up when i roll onto them. Ouch.

Aprilmeadow good luck with the blood tests!

The nausea seems to have passed. You would think i would be pleased but it just makes me paranoid. I still have the sore boobs and period like pains tho.

MissWooWoo · 25/08/2010 11:23

hi ecuse and many congratulations Smile

I believe that legally you don't have to tell them you are pregnant but you do have to inform by the end of the 15th week before you are due that you intend to take maternity leave (which kind of gives the game away). If you will be 16-19 weeks at promotion time you still have plenty of time before legally you have to let them know about maternity leave. Of course, as soon as you tell them (in writing) they are legally obliged to ensure that you are given time off for ante natal appointments. Or something like that - I think you can get all the info from direct gov.

Nothing much to report here, absolutely no tiredness yesterday at all and stayed up til 11 o'clock Sad although I was completely sofa bound with a sick dd all day so maybe that was why? oh symptoms where are thou?

ihaveaplan · 25/08/2010 11:38

I had an early scan last week after some bleeding - 6 + 3 and measuring 6 + 2 BUT a 4mm tear nearby, some bleeding since but not got another scan til Monday. Anyone got anything positive to say to me as feeling a bit scared...

gormers · 25/08/2010 12:01

It seems early bleeding is very common. A friend at work had it at 7, 10, & 12 weeks - scans each time was fine, and she's well into 3rd trimester with no problems. When she told all the boys at work, 5 out of 6 of them told a story of their wives having bleeding early on - subsequent scans and babies all fine!

So stat positive, obviously scary at the time, but often all's ok. Glad that it looked ok on the previous scan and at least you can see that there was another cause for the bleed there.

Good luck for scan next week.xx

ecuse · 25/08/2010 13:06

Thanks ,MisWooWoo, that's really helpful!
Now it just remains to be seen if I can get away without telling them (or them guessing!) in practical terms. So far no sickness so not too hard, but we'll see.

Petalouda · 25/08/2010 20:02

Hey folks,

Beetle I think I would've cried too. It sounds perfectly reasonable to me! Glad your midwife appointment was good too. Mine's a week tomorrow!

Ecuse congrats & good luck on your promo - let us know!

Symptom update: I was feeling better, but I went into school for results day yesterday, then picked DH up from work at 8, then went to tescos, and then it all went wrong! I'm now getting the insane exhaustion, and nausea with it. I was so tired this morning I cried on the way into work with DH.

I think he finally realised that I'm not just being pathetic. He promised to clean the kitchen (I just can't even look at dirty dishes), which he's just done, and has been pampering me this evening. What a legend!

My belly's starting to poke out a bit now. Some definite below-the-belly-button definition. If only to me & DH.

People tell me it'll get better after 12 weeks. Only 2 more to go! xx
