Has anyone elses nausaa disappeared, i've been feeling sick every day since 5wks, i'm now 7+2 and the nausea has disappeared the last couple of days, is this normal?

Petalouda · 22/08/2010 18:04

Hello!
I'm back from a jaunt to N Ireland for a friend's wedding, where I was asked twice (and denied twice!) but the speculation seemed pretty rife amongst our group of friends.

Fortunately, like Ladybird10, I stopped feeling sick about a week and a half ago, so it was all good. Ladybird10, I don't know if it's normal, but I was so glad to feel better. I don't know what I would've done if that had continued much longer. I'm amazed that some people can endure it for 9 months! Oh, and with the disappearance of the nausea, my belly also deflated a bit too, and became a lot less sensitive to pressure. I think the bloating was a symptom of the general digestive wrong-ness.

So, I'll be 9 weeks tomorrow. Still counting down to first midwife appointment on the 2nd. Stupidly read the miscarriage article in the observer today, but I feel armed with knowledge.

Take care, all. xx

salsarocks · 22/08/2010 21:12

Nausea and exhaustion has really kicked in now for me! JenAT - it was my birthday too yesterday. We were meant to go to a friends party but DS spent the whole day puking so similar evening to you and no sleep due to hot miserable toddler!

DH and I still not told anyone (well told 2 week old niece but don't reckon she's at the gossiping stage). Going to try and hold off till dating scan if I don't get busted for lack of alcohol! Had a wedding on Friday don't think anyone guessed. DH and I have a ploy where I drink whatever he drinks and we keep swapping glasses, seems to work but DH does end up plastered Blush

Karoleann · 22/08/2010 22:12

I still don't seem to have many symptoms - I can't eat meat at the moment (same as other two pregnancies), but apart from that okay.
Miss Woowoo, I've rhesus neg as well, but had DH tested last time and he's rhesus neg too, so no injections for me!
I've booked a scan for 10th September as I want to discuss tests with consultant as I'm now 35. Still very wary about this pregnancy.

Morning all
How is everyone today? My bladder is so weak i have to keep getting up in the night. Body can't be prepping me already ;-). Not feeling as sick or my tummy as swollen, boobs still a tad sensitive, but not as much. We told parents and siblings at the weekend. The ones i thought wouldnt be shocked (not in a bad way) were. He he. I left a message for the hospital on Friday and they called back yesterday to say they will assign me a widwife and book me in for a scan. Very impressed to be called on a Sunday. Hello All,

Kittycatcat your local hospital and midwives seem very organised! My fingers are crossed for you that they keep it up!

My exhaustion seems to be easing, actually managed to see the end of a film in the evening for the first time in weeks. Annoyingly the nausea seems to be getting worse, thankfully I've got another week off work (can you tell I'm having to cram it all in before the end of the holiday year?!) so I'm sat with my ginger biscuits and Homes Under the Hammer.

Have also noticed that the bloating is getting very uncomfortable, and rather umm smelly Blush

numptysmummy · 23/08/2010 10:46

Morning all. Have gone fron a slight watery mouth on fri to full blown all day nausea, everything stinks and tastes weird and a huge bloated belly! Dh isn't saying much - he's in denial as we had agreed no more children but it takes two. Am in a strange limbo as part of me wants to be really excited but part of me feels i can't because of dh. Youngest lo is 4 and we had just started getting a social life again! Not that it's anything we can't still do - just have to cut back on the booze. We have had quite a few wkends if serious drinking lately and i'm not sure how i'll explain not drinking. Or smoking - one of the first clues, can't stand the smell of cigarettes. Makes giving up easy tho!

kittycatcat · 23/08/2010 11:01

When are you due numptysmummy? Hopefully he will get used to the idea. It's easier for the men to ignore at first isn't it. DH said yesterday he doesnt think he will really believe it til the baby is at home!

I hope so too beetlebaby

MrsWajs · 23/08/2010 11:19

Oh my god - have anyone elses hormones gone into total overdrive!?? I can't stop screaming at DP and then dissolving into floods of tears (usually for absolutley nothing!) We went out to meet some friends for a drink last night (I was the driver obviously) and he said something I didn't like and I went completely berserk and left him in the pub and went home!!! I'm sure my friends must think I've gone crazy since I'm normally quite relaxed!!! Anyone know how long this lasts for?? If it goes on for the whole 9 months, I might be giving birth alone!! Poor DP.
Apart from that though still have achey boobs, bad breath, constipation and wind but that's about it. 7 weeks yesterday - roll on the next 5 so I can at least explain my erratic behaviour to people

numptysmummy · 23/08/2010 11:29

Not sure kittycatcat - can't remember when my last period was but i think 7wks. Which would be about right with the symptoms kicking in. We did have a good chat last night and he'll be fine it's just everyone else's reactions i'm dreading - fil in particular.

kittycatcat · 23/08/2010 11:33

I find the symptoms reassuring. I am waking up every morning relieved they are still there. Bet i am not saying that in a few weeks! People should be pleased for you!!Why wont fil be?

numptysmummy · 23/08/2010 11:40

We alresdy have 4 dc's, one has special needs and life is hectic to say the least! My own view is when your over your heads the shit can't get any deeper! But we have our own house which is big enough, decent salaries and can afford for me to be a sahm again. I'm loving my symptoms! Had a mc in jan and feel more pg this time if that makes sense.

kittycatcat · 23/08/2010 13:07

Goodness me you are a busy mummy!I hope you get the support you deserve :) x

numptysmummy · 23/08/2010 13:15

It'll be fine - once you get to dc4 and over they practically look after themselves! The others are quite old now - 12,10,6 and 4 so not like i have other littlies to look after. And the 4yr old starts school in Jan so will have a bit of time to myself near the end! I do love this bit when nobody else knows - once the words out you become public property and i hate that. And it doesn't get any less exciting, worrying etc!

Petalouda · 23/08/2010 15:57

Afternoon all,

Now, honestly, I do keep meaning to do some work, or tidy the house properly, but I keep finding other interesting things to do instead (yep, I include tv & sleep here too!).

Found some interesting reading here on feminism & motherhood.

If nothing else, it's making me feel better about having to tell work in September. And about the reality that I'm going to have to take minimum leave and return full time for us to even have a chance at paying bills. Fortunately, though DH isn't skipping for joy at my recent forays into feminism, he is rather excited at potentially becoming a house-husband. (steady-on, love, you'll only be changing your days off to weekdays!)

Does anyone have any experience of non-traditional work & parenting roles. Any other ideas of how to manage having a sproglet when you're the main earner early in your career?!

gormers · 23/08/2010 16:31

Afternoon all.

Nausea hasn't been as bad for me this week as last, but think that may be because I'm not at work this week and so getting more sleep (not having to get up at 5.30!!), and generally things are much easier to manage.

Boobs are still incredibly tender though - I get the feeling that this will just be the same now for the next 9 months!
And after!

Heading to friends for dinner later this week, she's currently 35 weeks pregnant with her second. She knows we've been trying but can't decide whether or not to et her know. Would love to tell her, but am still worried about telling anyone until after all's ok'd on the scan. And I won't even see a midwife until 10 weeks let alone a scan - how did some of you guys get such early scans or are they private?

It's a tricky one, parents till don't know yet!

dopeydinah · 23/08/2010 17:26

Petalouda it's a real downer, reality, isn't it? I've tried to find work I could do from home for 7 years now. with no luck.
I was never the main wage earner but my husband and I both worked for charities so money was always a bit tight. I've ended up working evenings and weekends whilst hubby works 9-5. It means there's less time for nice family things we can do together but gets rid of the need for childcare.

I'm now resigned to eternal poverty, but I suppose I can't miss what I've never had! :)

Petalouda · 23/08/2010 19:25

Ha! dopeydinah I'm with you there!

We were just about to hit the point where we'd be able to step away from that financial knife-edge, pay off some debts and finally start saving (instead of just breaking even).

We're even trying to buy our own house (thanks to gov't initiatives!).

And then, our little surprise! So, I reckons we'll be able to continue on this little knife-edge that we've become accustomed to. And we'll still be able to afford the house (in that the mortgage will be the same as rent, and we'd be screwed either way!)

So, we won't miss what we haven't had either!! :)

Ladybird10 · 23/08/2010 21:44

Th nausea came back today, i think it just disappears at weekends because i'm able to sleep more and not have to get up at the crack of dawn.

gormers i had an early scan as we were with a fertility clinic so they always give you an early scan. Think i would have paid for a private one if not as 12 weeks is a long time to wait.

tlat · 24/08/2010 07:58

Hi! I've been away for some time on a work trip and am so glad to see all the new mums to be that have come on!

sprinkles sticky baby dust all round

I am so glad to see that some of us are coming out the other end of the nausea! I've been having it somewhat horrible most of the day and by the afternoon I am nearly in tears. I am wondering though if I just let myself throw up instead of trying to hold it down if I will feel better? What do you guys think? Confused

DH and I have been debating whether or not to tell the parentals...both lots are elderly and we were worried that it was too early...has anyone here not told yet?

BeetleBaby · 24/08/2010 08:30

tlat I've been having the same thoughts about the nausea in regards to just being sick. It used to work when I was hungover as a student (because obviously I'm now a 'proper' grown up and haven't got that drunk since... hah!) but there's so much stuff that seems to trigger the nausea that I think it may be a loosing battle.

Though I did manage to make some choc chip cookies yesterday, chocolate still a trigger though Sad so made DH happy when he came home and was handed a plate of fresh cookies!

We're going to tell my parents when I'm 12 weeks as they're driving down to help us move house and my Mum will probably notice the signs (I'm one of four and she's a Health Visitors Assistant so knows her stuff!). PIL are also thinking of visiting that week so we'll prob tell them too as they're coming down the day after my scan. Wow that's going to be a busy week!

numptysmummy · 24/08/2010 10:26

Just throwing up never helped me - i guess because there isn't actually anything nasty to get rid of. My dh is still not a happy bunny Sad. I'm stuck in this horrible place where i want to be really happy but don't feel i can because he is sooooo anti. He does seem to be forgetting that he is 50% responsible as well.

gormers · 24/08/2010 10:29

Our parents don't know - feel a bit scared to tell them until after a scan, which is prob going to be 5-6 weeks away!!! Would love to tell them now though!

Anyone else wish they could already be into their 2nd trimester and be able to be open with everyone about it?!

kittycatcat · 24/08/2010 10:36

Gomers I totally wish i could shout it from the rooftops. i work with one of my close friends and am lying to them. I have had to say AF arrived as they know i am trying. But other than close family we don't want to tell anyone else.
Numptysmummy i am so sorry. It should be such a happy time shouldnt it. And as you say...it takes two!
